Labelling weeks in iCal (explanation inside)

Hey
My University uses a "week number" system in timetabling, so instead of saying "Week Beginning October 8 2007", the week of October 8 is referred to as "Week One" - the following week is "Week 2" and so on.
Because of the number of lectures and seminars I have to attend, I've decided to make use of iCal, and plan to print off my timetable month by month.
However, what would really help me is if there was a way to label each week !, 2, 3 and so on in iCal, rather than having to go to the confusing task of working out which week I am on. Can this be done?
Thanks!

See the script in this thread - it should be easy to modify it to what you want.
Is the Cranfield a surname or the university name?

How can I Print the next 4 or 5 weeks from iCal in month view (not simply complete months).
I'd like to print the next (up an coming) weeks of my calendar from iCal in month view - The idea is to get this information on 1 sheet of A4.. just like the month view.. but as far as i can see the month view only gives you current or next complete months.. The ONLY time this give me the view I want is in the first week of any given month.. the rest of the month part of the print is in the past and not enough of the up and coming weeks are shown?
I can believe  the app won't allow you to do this .. am I missing an easy fix.. or has it been rectified in Yosemite .. I'm using mavericks 10.9.5.
    Thanks

    Hope this helps.

  • How do I set an event to repeat every 4 weeks on iCal on my ipad 2?

How do I schedule an event to repeat every 4 weeks in iCal on my iPad 2?

Wow, I'm so used to setting up most repeated events on my mac in BusyCal that I didn't realize how limiting iPad/iCal was. I'll be curious to see if anyone has a trick to accomplish this. Thanks for posting this "issue".

If another person or company serviced your iPad, your warranty has been voided.  Apple will do an out-of-warranty exchange.  Have you contacted the original service provider, and complained?

  • Calendar weeks in iCal?

Hi, any chance to see calendar weeks within iCal?
    Thanks, Dirk

    Dirk,
you might want to check out http://www.project24.info and navigate to "Feiertage" ("Holidays" for the english speaking part of the world).
Besides the numerous single dates, school holidays and such you will find a checkbox for "Kalenderwochenbeginn" (or "Calendar weeks") at the bottom of the page. Subscribing to this will add another calendar to iCal and display the week's number as an all-day entry on each monday. I gave mine an almost white colour to keep it low profile.

  • How do I get the day of week labels back in ICal 5.0.1?

In "Week" view the day of the week is no longer displaying under the date. I can't find a preference setting to get it to display. Any ideas? Thanks.

If the issue is limited to your user account try starting up in Safe Mode  (It will take more time to startup because it runs a directory check.)
If your apps functions correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to/Users/yourname/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving/Users/yourname/Library/Fonts to your desktop.
    * Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library"
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.

  • Number of the week in Ical

Howcome the number of the week isn´t shown in Ical????

there's no option for a week view in iCal, but John Maisey wrote this applescript.
paste it in the Script Editor (Applications --> AppleScript --> Script Editor) and run it once...
if your weekview starts on an other day change this line:
    set daysText to "MonTueWedThuFriSatSun"
    to (example)
    set daysText to "SunMonTueWedThuFriSat"
--Copy below this line into Script Editor and click run --

    set daysText to "MonTueWedThuFriSatSun"
    set aDate to (current date)
set day of aDate to 1
set month of aDate to January
set aDay to weekday of aDate
    set weekNo to 1
--Day of week as num. starting with 0
set aDayText to (characters 1 thru 3 of (aDay as text)) as text

if dayOff is less than 5 then

  • ICal opens although when I click week view iCal unexpectedly quits

    Dear colleague:
    May I have your help?
I will appreciate if somebody help me on this issue described bellow.
    Details of the crash:
    iCal opens smoothly.
I go to the month view and all appointments appears right correctly.
Right after clicking week view (button in the toolbar), iCal opens the week view yet seconds after it unexpectedly quits sending automatically reports to Apple.
Hoping to have any help very soon
    Thx

    IcemanKo70,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
First, refresh the the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the com.apple.iCal.plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart.
Then before restarting iCal, open System Preferences...>Language & Text>Formats>Region: and set/reset the appropriate region.

  • Adding day of week to iCal calendar

I am frustrated by the fact that iCal does not show the day of the week above the dates  My iCal is set to show one week at a time but only shows July 17, 18, 19 etc.  Is there a way to modify an iCal calendar or is there a
page already in iCal.  I want the page to show Wednesday July 18, etc.  not just the 18th.

You can do that in update or also in trasnfer rules, where you prefer.
For me it's better to do that in update rules.
    Hope it helps.

  • How can I create the numbering of the week in ICal

I want to know how I can adjust ICal with the numbering of the week. I really need the number of the week often.
Can somebody give my an answer, I looked for it and I can't find the option?
    Regards,

    Teduister,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
According to Hawk Wings, you may want to consider: NumSemaine...NumSemaine is a little app which adds the week of the year to “All Day Event” Section of your iCal window.
Not least, this drives home how soon Christmas will be upon us.
It can also generate a ics file containing all the weeks of the year and their date ranges.

  • How do I burn dvds? (explanation inside)

Ok the main computer (my computer) does not have a dvd burner on it. So therefore I cannot burn my television episodes off my ipod (which I need to because my Ipod is almost full with t.v. shows and music). My dad's laptop does have a dvd burner. I went ahead and downloaded itunes onto his computer, hooked up my ipod, and went to burn. It said create a playlist so I did but it did that under my ipod. So I couldn't burn it. So I tried creating one in the playlist section, but it wouldn't let me move anything into the playlist section from my ipod.
So my question is..how do I burn these episodes onto a dvd? I'm kinda stumped here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Ok. I transferred everything onto my computer/dad's computer from my Ipod. Now I have everything on the computer. I have switched over the preferences for burning to data dvd/dvd. When I go to burn it says that I'm going to burn a data dvd that only works on computers. I don't want that. I want one that will work on my t.v. It says on the site that movies cannot be burned to play onto dvd players..but this is television shows..so it should be ok. So how do I get it to burn a dvd to actually play in my dvd player??

  • Weekly view in iCal.

In iCal you can se what month and what date it is but not what week. You can look in weekly view but it dosen't say the number of the week.
Example: Im a student and goes out on field study week 49. I want to be able to post in iCal all that week that im going on field study. When I look in monthly view I could se "ahh, week 48 normal study and week 49 field study".
To put it simply just ad the week numbers to each week in iCal.
This problem also regards to iPhone.

    Good find Kristian!
Perhaps this is a more region specific usage?
I was born and raised in the U.S. and neither at University nor in business have I ever had someone use a week number / day number within the calendar year as a point of reference. This could also be the fields in which I've worked (HealthCare (US Calendar), Accounting (Fiscal Calendar), IT (Corporate Fiscal Calendar)). Perhaps in other countries or professions this is more common? Or maybe it's just me
If this is a feature that you would like to see added to iCal consider submitting feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ical.html
    Cheers.
