Labels are still garish-color entire titles, text.

Hi. I thought by now Apple would have modified or provided options for coloring only an icon or folder, and not the entire line of text.
I have used unsanity software's Labels X for just that reason. Sadly, they have not updated to work in Lion.
So, to my surprise and disappointment, after upgrading to Lion all my previously subtle and unobtrusive colored icons have become a wall of garish blocks of color. In folders where I may have several files or other folders labeled using Labels X, which only colored the icon not the text, I now see distracting rows of one color or another making my open windows and folders look like children's party decorations.
Does anyone know of an alternative, either within Lion or via a third party app (as Labels X was)?
Thanks

For those who might not understand what this is all about, Apple in earlier OSs designed the Finder to display either colored labels or colored icons in list view, among others. With the advent of Leopard, the new designers, hellbent on moving to drab, ugly, monochromatic stuff, went for dismissing the colored icons option and foisted this on everyone. The original Apple design team had the right stuff, the new one, ugly garishness for its own sake; This screenshot depicts what Labels X restored, but which Apple crippled in Lion/ML so Unsanity couldn't move that haxie beyond Snow Leopard. One reason that I continue to do most of my work in SL.

  • Grayscale eps files still generate color plates

Photos and/or graphics saved in eps format, converted to grayscale mode, are still generating color plates when printing to the RIP.
These files are placed into Quark V8 document and then that document is exported as eps to Distiller to create a pdf which is then placed in a Quark V8 document and printed to the RIP.
Using Photoshop CS2 (V9.02). This creates issues as these files are placed on page layouts that have color and grayscale ads so
I need the grayscale elements to only appear on the black plate. Any suggestions?
Right now I am opening the offending eps files up in Photoshop and saving as tif files, this seems to fix it. However, really need to use the eps format.

Photoshop DCS 2 technically is a bastardized version of EPS that was created by Quark to work around the lack of spot channel support for the EPS format. So not all EPS files do or don't support Spots. Older versions of EPS do support passive transparency within Illustrator, but who bothers to pay attention to those things anyways....
The EPS format does support spot color, just not Photoshops version. I think it could support Spots, but I think they intentionally disabeled it for good reasons. Not sure, don't know, don't care.
Dealing with Multichannnel documents may take a few years of your life, but that is your own decision.
Quark wants to see 4 channels in a EPS file. If you create blank CMY channels in a CMYK document - hence having only the grayscale image reside in the black channel, your issues will go away.  This works for EPS and DCS 2 files.  Yes its a pain workflow.
Your better choice is to change the file format with a droplet.

  • I recently purchased a song and my entire song library was deleted after it downloaded. The photos and aps are still there, but no tunes. Anyone know how to fix this? I have songs loaded on the ipod that I don't want to loose and they are not in MY itunes

I recently purchased a song from itunes and when the song downloaded, it deleted/removed my entire song library. Only leaving the one song.
My photos and aps are still there, but no songs. Anyone ever encounter this and how do you fix it? I  don't want to loose my songs as some are not in MY itunes library. Help

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

  • I deleted some of my text message histories to get rid of 'other' space (6.33 gb). They were gone from iMessage, but they still showed up in search, so they were still taking up space on my phone. I synced my iPhone (4s) but the messages are still there.

I deleted some of my text message histories to get rid of 'other' space (6.33 gb). They were gone from iMessage, but they still showed up in search, so they were still taking up space on my phone. I synced my iPhone (4s) with iTunes but the messages are still there. How can I get rid of these texts for good and have more space on my phone? 6.33 gb of other space is way too much, thats almost half of my overall available space (13.5 gb.) I don't want to reset my phone and lose all my other texts/ app progress/ photos. I do have backups, but when I restore from the backup the other space comes back along with everything else. What can I do to get rid of this other space and the 'deleted' text messages? (I'm running iOS 6.1.3 if that helps)

But once again, I do not want to lose my other texts, app progress, and photos. I could sync the photos but i would still lose the app progress and texts. I would only restore if it was the only option left, but the other space, as already stated, isnt the main concern. The main concern is those 'deleted' texts. If they go, then a good size chunk of the other space goes. I know you CAN delete texts for good. It worked fine before. All i want to know is why its not working for me now, and how to fix it.
I also know that when you delete texts on your iphone, they get marked for deletion, however they stay on your device (thats why they show up when you search for them.) then when you sync your device with itunes, the texts marked for deletion should disappear. When i synced they didnt disappear. Thats what i need an explanation/solution for. Why the texts marked for deletion didnt get fully deleted after the sync.

  • How do you change the color of the title text?

The main title text for the tap your currently on shows up centered one line above the tab row. The default is black text, with a gray drop shadow, but that doesn't work with dark background themes/personas. How do I go about changing that text color so that its visible on a dark background. I've tried changing font stylings in general for the browser, and I've tried changing the color values in the about:config for the persona, but none of that works. How do you change the color of the title text?

That colors option under content doesn't change the color of the title text, but thanks anyways

  • Making pictures that are black and white but still have color someplace(s)

Is there a way in aperture to make pictures black and white but still leave color on some objects. for example, having a picture of someone holding a glass of red wine and having everything except the wine black and white?

A couple of ways this can be done
    - non destructively:
Use the Color adjustment to reduce the saturation of all the colors you dont want,
and leave only the saturation of the saturation of the color you do want.
Use the Ranges to more selectively choose the right color you want to leave.
    - destructively:
Use the Dodge&Burn plug-in from Apple.
Set the brush to Desaturate, choose its strength and size appropriately.
Then just desaturate all the area's that need to be desaturated.

  • Suddenly iTunes doesn't 'see' my entire library though all the folders are still there

Help! all of a sudden, out of the blue, when I open iTunes, it only shows 5 albums in my library, most of which were purchased through iTunes, but not the entire collection of probably 75-100 CDs I had imported in over the last several years, nor any of the podcasts or anything else. All the files are still in my iTunes Media folder. It seems using the "import" file into library only works on individual files, and I'm certainly not going to reload them in song by song.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, and added the folder back in from where I had copied it to. Still showing only the same 5 albums.
    Please help!

  • Animations are subdued but the white screens, neon colors and lack of black boarders are still making my eyes feel strained. What's to do about these issues? Oh and calander is still a disaster.

The zooming animations made me overwhelmed with motion sickness and I thank apple for handling that issue. Unfortunately there are still many visual issues that strain my eyes and make my iPhone unpleasant to use. The bright neon colors are childish and unnecessary, the lack of black boarders around icons etc make the eyes work harder to define content on the iPhone, the overuse of white screens and keyboard exhaust the eye,  and the calendar is so inefficient and has been rendered useless to me. What about all of those issues? Notes is blinding and I don't use that anymore. I've stopped using calendar which is VITAL to my modern existence. The zooming is gone but all these other factors have still ruined the iPhone for me and I've been using iPhone from the first month it was put on the market. I used to LOVE my iPhone and I was down right snobby about it. Now I am dispassionate about iPhone and Apple and honestly heartbroken by the device IOS 7 turned my beloved into. Sure, there are some cute new tricks but the overall IOS 7 experience is still ruining my iPhone for me.  What's to be done about these other issues?! I

Overall, no you can't change iOS 7. There are a number of thrid party calendar apps available in the app store however. You might explore some of those.

  • PH2668 I have delete some contact that i dont need anymore. but when i send a text they are still there. how do i delete them

I have delete contact out of my phone. but when i send a text they are still there. how do i delete them

I'm a bit confused by your post.
When you delete a contact, I assume it is no longer listed in the Contacts app, right?
When a send a text, what exactly do you mean "they are still there"?  Can you then go back into contacts and find the contact listed again?
Are you syncing contacts via icloud to several devices that you own?

  • Got a Galaxy S 5 and people are still sending me texts through iMessage

Someone stole my iPhone and I got a new phone, but switched to a galaxy S 5 and now my friends are still sending me texts through iMessage and I cannot receive them. Is there a way to deactivate iMessage without having the phone?

And the very last entry says that if you cannot log out with your iCloud account that you need to contact Apple Support. Try calling them.
If you don't have access to your iPhone, or if you can't deactivate iMessage from your iPhone, please contact Apple Support. Support for this issue is free.
