Labels & CR2008

I've seen this issue already some times on the forum but like to try to get a solution or clear message that it doesn't work at all...
Here's the situation:
In CR2008 SP3.5 I've created a label with the size 10 x 8.5. The orientation is automatically changed to landscape while it should be portrait. Changing anything in the printer driver settings doesn't do anything - which is normal because CR overwrites all settings. The result is in fact that the label is printed 90° rotated.
I've tried this with different printers/drivers and always get the same problem.
Besides this we also would like to set other printersettings like speed, darkness, sensor type, ... for the label printer. I was wondering if these settings should/could also be stored in the CR report itself.
Anyone has any (positive) experiences with this ?

Dissociate is a must.
As for printer configuration Cr doesn't keep track of all of the settings. You have to manage that part of it yourself. A read me with how to configure their printers to work is about all you can do.
If you have a Developer available all of this could be configured at runtime.
As for CR keeping track of all of the "customer" printer options add your Enhancement request to Idea Place. If it gets enough votes the Product Managers will seriously look at adding the functionality/feature to a future release.

  • CR2008 SP5 Labels not printing correctly

    Hi,
    I've got an issue were labels are not printing correctly to a Zebra printer. I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 SP5. The problem is the width is 10cm and the length is 7.5cm but Crystal is automatically changing this to landscape orientation which doesn't print correctly then. From reading older threads, a lot of people have had similar issue but according to this thread - CR 2008 V 12.3.0.601 Labels will not print correctly the issue should be resolved in SP5 but it's still not printing out in the correct orientation despite the print preview looking perfect.
    I've tried checking the No Printer option and the Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size option and pretty much every other option I've seen mentioned but I still cannot get the label to print in the correct orientation. Has anyone succesfully got this working?

  • CR VS 2005 - How to change series label text?

    Hi...
    I got this problem while creating a chart in Crystal Report, hope someone can help me
    I'm using Crystal Report for Visual Studio 2005 and the type of the chart is 3D Riser.
    I would like to change the series axis (Y) label but it appears that its using the object name and I can't find anyway how to change it in designer.
    The only solution that I can find is change it in preview but I can't get it edited while in preview mode.

    Obtain Crystal Reports 2008 and test the report design there. The Stand-alone versions of CR are way more featured, particularly when it comes to charts. Get  the report working in the CR2008 designer 1st, then see how it behaves at runtime. An eval of CR2008 can be downloaded from here:

  • Formula for x axis labels

    I have a report with one group(CR2008 with .NET). That group has a customized group name field, and the group name is a formula. When I display the group name in the data section of the report, it displays according to the formula.
    I now need to chart two pieces of data - Primary # of Sales and Secondary # of Sales - for that group so I can compare the two # of sales. If I make a chart for the Primary # of Sales, and go to the group tab in the Chart Expert and specify "on change of Group By Value (my grouping), show the sum of the Primary # of Sales", the chart displays as desired, and I see the custom group name (formula) as the X axis label.
    But if I go to the Advanced Layout on the Data tab of the Chart expert and specify the Sum of Primary # of Sales AND Sum of Secondary # of Sales in the Show Values section, the X axis label no longer shows the custom group name; it shows the group value.
    Any ideas for how to get it to show the custom group name when I chart two fields of data?
    Also how to change the x axis orientation to vertical so that morei get  space for labels.

  • CR2008 . Net App - Parameters and Parameter Panel Not working

    I have a CR2008 report with one parameter, which works fine when running it in CR2008.  I have an app developed in VS2005 (which should have been updated when I installed Crystal and re-built the app).  The new "Sort Labels" work fine, so the Viewer should be OK (the right version).  When I open the report in the app, the parameter does not modify the report in anyway, whether a new value is added when it first opens, or I try to change the value using the Parameter panel after it is opened.  I've tried Saving with and without data, discarding saved data on refresh, and one or two other properties that seemed like they might have an effect.  None of them did.  Everything works fine within CR2008 - it is only in VS2005, using the Version 12 viewer, that the parameter does not work (all records are returned by the way).
    Any ideas will be appreciated.

    Firewall is off. No antivirus. Switching Little snitch on an off makes no difference.
    Just tried ot connect to the App Store again, and it says no connection, connect anyway.....I click connect, and the entire window flashes balck and white and I can see data traffic to and from the app via little snitch.....the black screen is it trying to load the page but not getting through.

  • Production labels, Need to flag record when successfully printed.

    I am using CR2008 and I design a production label, this label goes to the floor to be made. My problem is that, there are orders entered all day long and labels need to be printed twice a day. When the query updates, it pulls the info of all day and the person printing labels cannot identify what has printed. I need to be able to flag or update a field in a table when label successfully prints.
    I would greatly appreciate your help.

    As long as you have UPDATE permissions in the database (or whomever would be running the report), you can use a Command to do this.
    It could look something like this...
    CREATE TABLE #Temp (OrderID INT)
    INSERT INTO #Temp(OrderID)
    SELECT OrderID FROM TableName WHERE Fields = Report Criteria
    UPDATE TableName SET PrintedFlag = 1
    WHERE OrderID IN (SELECT OrderID FROM #Temp)
    SELECT
    Fields For Report
    FROM  TableName
    WHERE OrderID IN (SELECT OrderID FROM #Temp)
    but unless you are comfortable writing SQL you should stay away from UPDATE, INSERT & DELETE statements... Actually anything other than a SELECT statement can damage your database if you don't know what you are doing.
    If you have access to a DBA, let them know what you are trying to do. Writing the necessary SQL should be piece of cake for someone who knows SQL.

    The code given was part of the assignment and you are supposed to make the changes for your part right?
    Please give details of what you have done so far and not expect us to do your assignment for you. We'll be glad to help answer questions and point to the right direction, but giving us the entire assignment and saying, very nicely I might add, "Please do it for me." Just seems to make a mockery of the hours, days, and years that many of us has spent earning our degrees and learning our skills.
    Work on it and ask specific questions with examples of what you have done and you'll get a much better response.

  • Boot image does not exist and cannot read disk label errors.

    Hi - I'm having a problem with installing Solaris 9 4/04 on a Netra T1. The Netra already has Solaris 7. I need to get this set up as a jumpstart server but it can't find the boot image. I'm using a brand new bonafide installation disk - not a copy. The system won't let me install/upgrade to Solaris 9 either. I get an error stating that disk label can't be read. I've tried swapping out the CDROM but I still get the same errors. Does anyone know what or why this may be happening? (Oh - and another strange thing - like I said the CDs are the original but there doesn't appear to be a cdrom/cdrom0/s0 directory. The directory I see is cdrom/cdrom0/sol_9_404_sparc/Solaris_9/Tools)

    Hi check that you are booting of the right cd. Make sure it is soalris 9 software 1/2 if that fails then it may well be that your cd is buggered. most likely it is buggered it it cant find the boot image.

  • Close all folders in Mail?  Color Label folders?  Find folder?  And More!

    Hi all.
    I have a LOT of mail. They're all very organized, though. Heaps of Mailboxes (Folders) and Sub-folders.
    I also have heaps of rules dutifully sending incoming mail to their appropriate mailboxes.
    However...
    It has reached a point where one of of the major bottlenecks in my daily workflow is sorting through all these mailboxes.
    There are 5 primary mailboxes with perhaps 100-ish subfolders or sub-subfolders. Maybe more.
    When they are all open, or a lot of them are open, it is difficult to find the a specific folder when I need it. It would help if I could close all open folder with a shortcut.
    Is this possible?
    It would also help if I could visually distinguish each level. Can I color label the mailboxes(not the messages themselves)?
    Another help would be if I could run a search for a folder Mailbox name. Is this possible?
    Lastly when I create a rule I would love it if there was an option to 'Create new Mailbox' in the rule dialog box rather than having to create the mailbox first. Am I just missing this? See link for illustration:

    I just had a look and you need to create the mailbox PRIOR to asking the rules to move it into that.
    Now, automator lets you create a new workflow, but not sure as to how to set that one up (might be possible; however, my mathematical brain tells what you want to achieve is flawed:
    1) IF new mail equals "tangerine", create new mailbox tangerine, then move message to mailbox "tangerine. (FINE so far!)
    2) the second "tangerine" message arrives, and the workflow should FAIL (because it cannot create a "new" mailbox "tangerine", as there is ALREADY a mailbox named "tangerine")
    3) if automator cannot execute "If" and "and" and the "sort by" all together, then distinguish (a "tangerine" message might actually need to go to "pear" but refers to "pears and tangerines", so it ends up in the wrong mailbox), you may have to start and restart mail, until all stages of the script have been executed.
    You see the problems?

    How can I remove unwanted LABELS from the side bar unsung gmail?

    I assume you're using GMail as your primary e-mail account?  Try this.  This is how I am setup.  Not only will it move all your contacts to your phone but any changes made in GMail or on the iPhone will be sync'd with the server.

    Note... I think this will delete your existing contacts from your device.  You will want to use iTunes to back them up and get them imported into GMail before you sync your device wtih GMail.

  • Desktop and windows have all capital A's (AAAA...) instead of normal labels

    Hi, folks.
    While having trouble getting my AC power supply cord to power up the 'book (the cord wires were broken and the power would only flow if the cord were held in one position) the battery eventually was
    exhausted and the 'book shut down.
    This interruption caused the desktop menu, labels, and submenus, to all be labeled AAAAAAAAA....etc.
    The A's appear within box (square) shapes. For example the word 'view' looks like this AAAA but in boxes.
    I tried to rebuild the desktop but that didn't help. I wanted to trash the desktop preferences, but since everything is labeled AAAAAAA I can't find them! Even the master OS disk (Tiger) is littered with AAAAAA's! I can read the internet ok, however.
    What's going on?

  • Show events in label colors when printing

    I've been doing my carpool schedule using iCal - each person has their own calendar so they always appear in the same color and can subscribe to just their calendar.
    I used to print out a copy to put on the fridge, and each event would be printed in the color of that person's label.
    I just upgraded to Tiger (10.4, yeah, i'm behind) and now iCal only prints a little color swatch next to the BLACK text of each event. This makes it much more difficult to see at a glance who has carpool since you can' just tell the color of the enter text from across the room, you have to get up close and either read the black text or squint and try to tell the color of the little line.
    Is there a way to put it back to how iCal 1.5 did it?
    PS - I'm printing in month view, if that makes a difference.

    Is the calendar checked in the list of calendars in the popup menu in the upper left corner?

  • Can not color label more than one file at a time

    Hi,
    I've had this problem since 10.6.6-ish, i can not color label more than one file at a time in the Finder.
    Wether i select two, twenty or twohundred only one file gets color labeled.
    It doesn't seem to matter if i assign a color label through the File menu or right click > label.
    Figured a re-install might fix this but it hasn't (even a clean install without restoring any kind of backup).
    Does anyone else have this issue and/or a fix for it?
