Labels on 3d Pie Chart overrunning

Is it possible to rotate the labels on a 3d pie chart so they don't run into each other? I have a case where there are small values with a label that running into the next label over for an item?
I believe this is corrected in the newer versions of any chart, but I am limited to the apex 3.2 version of anychart, since I am hosted on a 3rd party site..
Thank you,

I understand that the feature is not available in current version of APEX Flash Pie charts now.... Can only hope when APEX 4.0 comes out we get newer version of anychart..
Question, can you eliminate the labels on a Pie chart and just have the pie chart and a legend with labels and values?
Thanks,

• How to get rid of label shadows in Pie Chart?

Hi and thanks for reading.
Every time I create a pie-chart in Numbers08, there is a shadow around values and series labels. I looked in Text, Font, and inspector palletes but could not get rid of the shadow/glow around the fonts.
Any suggestions on how to disable it? this shadow is ruining my whole report.
This happens only in pie-chart, for some reason. If I change the chart to, say, bar chart, the shadow disappears, but switching to pie brings back the shadow.

Ashka, thanks for reply, unfortunately it didn't help. I do not have "shadow" option ticked anywhere. If I do tick the shadow, an additional shadow also appears, so this shadow is somehow built into the pie-chart by default. No matter what font of color I pick that shadow is there.
Here is a screen-shot:

• How to Avoid overlapping data label values in Pie Chart

Hi,
I am facing the problem when the data is more my pie chart data label value is overlapping.
I tried with showing outside the data label value but customer is not accepting ,and i used the CollectedPie option also but still its overlapping .So please any body knows how to resolve this problem as i need very urgent basis.

Hi HariKan,
Per my understanding that the Category group of the pie chart which will retuen many values so that the label will overlapping and you want to know is any method to deal with this kind of problem, right?
In Reporting Services, when enabling data label in par charts, the position for data label only have two options: inside and outside.
In your scenario, I recommend you to increase the size of the pie chart if you insist to choose the lable inside the pie chart as below:
If you choose to "Enable 3D" in the chart area properties and choose to display the label outside, the label's layout will be more clear:

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

• Please suggest how can we place chart series label evenly in Pie Chart of SSRS 2008

Could you please suggest how can we place chart series label value evenly so that it doesnot overlap with each other and user can view the data properly.
Please find the attached screenshot for the same.

Hi SubhadipRoy,
As Satish posted, the solution can achieve your goal. In addition, you can right click the Chart Series Labels and Series Label Properties, and then select Number in the left pane, finally select Scientific below the Category option. The data label may not
overlay. Or you can enlarge the chart.

• Pie Chart Labels - 5's turn into 6's at 100% zoom on screen but print OK

I have a really odd problem; an application I developed that is changing the numerals on the labels of a pie chart.
All 5's change to 6's. This problem is occuring on multiple end user workstations. It only displays incorrectly at 100% zoom level on the screen. If they change the zoom level, or print the report, the numbers appear correct.
I've put a screenshot in a photobucket in case anyone wants to see. One is a .png and one is a (larger) .bmp.
http://s1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc493/fohlinedata/
Adding to the problem is that I'm unable to reproduce the issue, either on my dev. machine or on a test machine.
The application was developed with VS 2005, and the setup program was created using the 2005 SP1 msm.
I've tried searching to no avail, and I'm hoping someone has an idea on this one!

Hello,
That is very strange. I think it has to do with either Microsoft's USP10 or GDIPlus dll's.
Try changing screen resolution or screen size and possibly the DPI settings to see if it corrects the problem.
They may wan to update their Video card drivers also.
What version of CR are you using? It may be resolved in some service or fix pack. The charting dll is from a third party so you may want to use [Modules |https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip]to verify they are all using the same runtime files also.
Thank you

• AMX Pie Chart Slice Label

I'm trying to customize the slice labels in my pie chart. It looks like the textType attribute of the dvtm:sliceLabel tag might provide me what I need, but there is little information. Where does the component get the "text" to display? The percentage is based on the pieDataItem's value attribute in relation to the whole as expected. I have the label and sliceId attributes also set for the pieDataItem component in the dataStamp facet but these are not showing up in the slice label as the text. Is there another component I need to add to the dataStamp facet that will be consumed by the sliceLabel text?

do paste this in the alt text of the chart ,
Right click the picture , select format picture and go to alt text tab.
paste this in between the graph element and not at the end or beginning.
<SliceLabel visible="true">
<ViewFormat decimalDigit="1" decimalSeparator="." decimalDigitUsed="true" decimalSeparatorUsed="true"/>
</SliceLabel>

• Round Pie Chart Slice Labels

I need to round the slice labels of my pie chart to 0 decimal places. I have looked and looked around on how to do this, and the only solution I have found does not work (using the ViewFormat element under the SliceLabel element). Here is the code for my chart. Typically, the labels end up with 2 decimal places, but some seem to randomly be rounded to 3 instead. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
chart:
<Graph graphType="PIE">
<SliceLabel textType="LD_PERCENT"/>

<GraphFont font = "Arial" size="12"/>

<LegendArea position="LAP_BOTTOM"/>
<SliceLabel visible="true">
<ViewFormat decimalDigit="0" decimalSeparator="." decimalDigitUsed="true" decimalSeparatorUsed="true"/>
</SliceLabel>
<LocalGridData rowCount="2" colCount="2">
<RowLabels>
Annual Wages
Benefits
</RowLabels>
<DataValues>
<RowData>
<Cell>
<xsl:value-of select=".//CK_BENSTMT_ANNUAL"/>
</Cell>
</RowData>
<RowData>
<Cell>
<xsl:value-of select=".//CK_BENSTMT_TOT5_ER"/>
</Cell>
</RowData>
</DataValues>
</LocalGridData>
</Graph>

That is exactly what I am using though, and it still doesn't work. Do I have to place the slice label element somewhere specific within the code for it to work correctly? I will try moving it around, but any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

• Pie Chart Legend Question

Running CR XI R2
I have a pie chart that is displaying both Percentages and values in the legend. Is there any way to remove the $ from the value in the Legend as the Value is not currency but a count.
Thanks
Joe

I tried that and it didn't work. I've actually played around with it more and got them to go away
I don't have data elements (labels) on the pie chart slices, and I'm sorry i forgot to mention that. I put the labels on, changed their formatting and took them off again and it affected the legend in the way I was hoping for.
Thanks for the response

• BIEE Pivot Table Pie Chart Error

When we use pivot table and views in BIEE (Measure labels in the Rows), the label of the pie chart will only display the first measure name. There are only color box no text from the second measure name.
Does any one know how to fix this issue?

We are using BI Publisher stand-alone version 10.1.3.3.2 running on RHEL 4. We are using Excel 2003 SP3, and .NET Framework 2.0 SP1.

• Proportional pie charts and annotation

Hi,
I have Numbers to help me make colourful, etc. graphs for inclusion in my MSc dissertation. I am using pie charts to show annual comparisons between common forms of disposing of waste. Ideally, I'd like the pie chart to show the amount of hazardous waste produced per annum, i.e. the larger the amount produced, the larger the pie chart. Other than doing it manually, by eye, can Numbers do this?
Finally, when some of the fractions are small, instead of showing, say <1%, it will say 0%. Can I alter the labelling of the pie chart's slices?
Many thanks - and I hope that this makes sense!
Simon

Axtron,
Not seeing your available data, the only thing to go by is the image that comes to mind. Pie charts are excellent for depicting parts of the whole, so your concept of showing all the various waste materials produced in a year broken into percents works well. The pie charts will do the percents for you. Perhaps grouping a few waste types with small amounts and labeling them "All Others" would work.
To show comparisons of successive years would require a pie chart for each year. One would scan across the row of charts and see certain types of waste were increasing or decreasing percent-wise over a period of time. But remember, each chart has to be the same size so as not to distort the data.
If you are interested in showing increases and decreases in quantities of the various waste types over a period of time, perhaps a line or bar chart would be more effective. As a matter of fact, you could use either of these to show the percents of the pie chart as well. Once you have a table of data you can experiment with each type of chart to see which best emphasizes your point.

• Pie Chart legend label icon

Hi, is it possible to change the label icons of a Pie Chart legend? I have a pie chart with genre distribution % and would like to set the male and female genre icons instead of the color.
Thank you

Hello Pedro,
in general you can' t change the label icons in SSRS - I assume you mean with "label icons" the small colored rectangles indicating each of the sections in a pie chart. But I have a workaround for you: Simply not to use the build-in labeling mechanism
of the chart, but to create an individual textbox with the needed symbols for your purposes. In that textbox you have to set an expression for showing the needed male or female symbols as Unicode-chars. There's a text function for that, I mean something like
"=ChrW(&XXX)" is the appropriate expression. XXX has to be the character string of the Unicode-chartset, if you want e.g. the male symbol as an icon. Unfortunately, I can't post links, but it's quite easy to find via Bing or Google the needed
chars or signs in the Unicode-Table (use e.g. "Unicode table" as search string and you find a great site for retrievaling chars and symbols in the Unicode-Table).
Generally spoken, I wouldn't use pie charts at all, normally bar charts are the better choice in visualizing data - with bar charts it's easier to recognize skales than in a pie chart and you can often label bars in a direct way, so you don't need an extra
legend.
I hope I could help you, but feel free to ask me, if yo have further questions

• Pie chart label

I have a pie chart and the region is limited in width.
Some of the labels are a little long (even if they are abreviations) so that when they are at the center left or right of the pie chart, the labels are not enterily displayed.
I was wondering if there was a way to display the label and value on seperate lines...
I tried to add a chr(13) at the end of my labels in my sql query, but when the graph is displayed it shows something like this:
"my lable"
, "my value"
I haven't find a way to remove the comma, it seems to be hard coded in an apex query...
in the xml definition I can add a newline by doing this
<text>{NAME}
{VALUE}</text>
but it only works for the hints label...
btw, I'm using Apex 3.0.1.00.08
anyone can help me?
Thanks
Max

Hi Max
Sorry for not getting back quicker - not sure if it's just me, but all the oracle servers seem to be dying right now!
Anyway, the answer isn't pretty, but it will work:
1 - In your select statement, change the LABEL value to be:
labelfield || CHR(10) || TO_CHAR(valuefield) LABEL
2 - In the custom XML section: Remove {VALUE} from the hints section
3 - Also in custom XML, set show = "NO" in the values section
