LabVIEW 2-output instrument into Multisim

Hi, buddys!
I'm trying to bring two waveforms into Multisim by means of project provided by Patrick Noonan here:

I added in Patrick's Simple Output Instrument.vit another waveform and connected it to one more terminal added. The project builds and the new instrument adds to Multisim just fine.
The thing is that only one waveform is "working" while the other one (another output) is always zero in multisim. Though both are non-zero in correspondance with front panel.
How to make one more waveform "work"?

Labview IO instrument in Multisim 10.1?

Hello.. I'm trying to make a labview Input/Output instrument that will take an input, compare the input against a lookup table (preferably in a text file), and output the value that was looked up. I've been playing with the example labview IO template project that came with Multisim, and I am having trouble figuring out how it works. Can someone make an example that would, say, take the input, multiply it by two, and output that value just so I can see where in the block diagram the calculation is supposed to be done?

Create a LabVIEW Based Virtual Instrument for NI Multisim - Missing Function?

Hi there,
I am trying to build an output instrument for NI Multisim according to the instructions here:

The problem is that i cannot find the function i see labeled as "Gen Signal" anywhere in my Labview version (8.5) so i can
use it in the "Update Initial Output Data"case box!
Excuse my ignorance, but i am new to LabView and unfortunately in electronic schematics as well.I am doing this project for my school assignment.
Is it available in another Labview version, or can you tell me where i can spot it so i can build my VI?

Here is a very simple output example that you can start with.   Likely you are still having issues with either the build settings or something with one of the subVIs that is not properly being included for some reason.   I do notice that sometimes when a waveform VI from the Signal Processing Pallette that originally is coming from the NI_MABase.lvlib, it can sometimes have issues with the inclusion / build settings. This seems to be an issue with the LabVIEW project build and not necessarily with the Multisim interface.
So lets take a simple example as shown here...
The two core source files are "SimpleOutputInstrument.lvproj" and "SimpleOutputInstrument.llb".    The .llb contains the "Simple Output Instrument.vit" - which is the main VI, "Simple Output Instrument_multisimInformation.vi" which is the Multisim information VI to set the pins and Instrument name and "Simple Sine Waveform.vi" which is a simpler form of a sine wave generator (not using the NI_MABase.lvlib).
Using the .lvproj file, build the project as an .llb.   The result is "sines.llb" which needs to be placed in the lvinstruments folder C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite 10.1\lvinstruments...
See if you can run this VI and then try to build the .llb with my same source VIs and let me know the results.

How to split one modbus serial output port into two?

Hi all,
Current Situation
My company has a instrument measuring emission in flue gas. The instrument has only one serial port for "modbus" output. The serial port is being used to sending the data collected by the instrument to our DCS.
My Question
I have a separate data acquisition computer which is also able to collect data over serial modbus. Is it possible to split the existing serial modbus output port into two so that both the DCS and my data acqusition computer can collect data from the instrument at the same time? If yes, what software and hardware do I need? One more point, high reliability is required for both data collection processes - to the DCS and to the data acquisition computer.

What serial protocol are you using? RS-232 or RS-485?
If it is 485, then it is a multidrop bus, so you can just hook up both receivers to the transmitter via a RS-485 hub. If it uses the 232 protocol, then this would not work as only one device can receive data at any given time, so you could set one node up to repeat the signal to the second hub or use LabVIEW Shared Variables.

Generate a '2 output instrument' directive to IVI driver

Hi,
I have a Tektronix AWG420 which I didn't find drivers for anywhere; however I did find an IVI driver for the AWG5x0 family in the NI drivers' zone.
As the command set for these instruments is almost identical I tried using it, and it works great with my applications for Channel1 if I turn of the 'ID query' at initialization.
However, as the driver doesn't recognize that I have a 2-output instrument I can't communicate with Channel2.
Does anyone know how can I give directives to the driver that this is a 2-output instrument?

Unless you want to buy LabWindows/CVI and modify the driver (orf ind someone to do it for you), I think your only option is to use tkawg5x0 Write Instrument Data to send the unsupported commands. This (and a read function) are on the Utility Functions>Instrument I/O palette.
Since doing this makes your program instrument specific and you lose most of the reasons for using IVI, you could always write a native LabVIEW driver or use the Instrument I/O Assistant instead of the IVI driver.

How To Import Orcad Component Libraries into Multisim

Ive been using LabView for a long time now, and I have just started using Multisim and Ultiboard. A lot of companies all ready have orcad libraries for their components, such as Maxim and Microchip. Is there anyway to import these into Multisim or do I have to recreate everything?
Specifically, I am trying to import these libraries. It would also be nice to import others too.

Multisim does not use library files the way other packages do.You should still be able to use these files to create a new component with the component wizard tool. I am not sure how other packaqges work when it comes to importing spice models, but with Multisim it is a manual process of creating an individual part with a symbol and footprint. This is no guarantee that these models will work inside Multisim. You just have to try them and see.
There are tutorials available in the user's manual on component creation. Also, follow the link in my signature and there you will find a link to other tutorials in the Knowledge Base.

LabVIEW with Axon Instruments digitizer and amplifier

I am seeking to implement a software based lock-in amplifier with an Axon Instruments digitizer and amplifier. I have run across a Lock-In Amplifier start-up kit (here) that runs in LabVIEW. Can LabVIEW be used with the Axon products?

It seems that there is no available LabVIEW driver for your Axon device. I have heard that Axon does offer a driver written in C. This means that if you looked for the functions that you needed in their driver, you could then use the Call Library Function Node to import those functions into LabVIEW. You should be able to find the driver for your Axon devices either from their website or by calling them. Here is some additional information on calling DLL's written in C by LabVIEW.

Hello,
Following is the procedure to convert alv output to spool and then it to PDF Format.
After we display the ALV, we can check whether it is running in the background using system field u2018sy-batchu2018. Then,we call an function module named u2018GET_JOB_RUNTIME_INFOu2019 to get the current job information. Then go to spool request table tbtcp to get the spool id.

How do you add non-Garage band instruments into a Logic project so that you can hear them on playback?

How do you add non-Garage band instruments (orchestral instruments) into a Logic Pro (8) project so that you can hear those insrtruments' sounds on playback? I've tried to understand and follow the Logic Pro 8 User Manual, but the process comes off as so complex and the writing so technical that it does not help but only confuses.
To be precise - I want to add instruments (orchestral) that are not offered in the current Garage band menu which is offered in the Mixer's channel strip menus for Logic Pro 8. To be clear, the instruments that are offered are Bass / Drum Kits / Guitars / Mallets / Organs / Pianos and Keyboards / Synth Basics / Synth Leads / Synth Pads. Most of these that I've tried seem to work and give their characteristic sound when placed in a particular channel and playback is clicked.
However - there is one orchestra instrument offered in the standard Logic Pro 8 Mixer channel menu and it's the item labelled "Performance - 000 flute 1 or 001 flute 1." And it is this instrument that presents a problem. When I click on it and choose it from the menu and enter it as the instrument of choice for a specfic channel / track in my Logic Pro project arrangement, when playing back the music for the overall piece this particular track, the flute, does not playback and produce the notes (Midi events) in the track in the sound of the flute. Instead, nothing comes out at all. I can't imagine why this does not work. Any ideas, anyone? Again, when choosing this instrument for a track and clicking the playback no flute sound is forthcoming. Why not? I have not tried them all, but when most of the other various types of keyboards, such as an electric piano or an organ, are chosen for a track the playback successfully renders the sound of these instruments. Why then does playback not produce the sound of the flute when it has clearly been chosen to play and sound the Midi events given it?
Anyway, the overall, larger issue for me is the inability I have to choose and get non-Garageband instruments (largely orchestral) to play the Midi events given on various tracks. If my guess is correct then technically, orchestral instruments not offered in the standard Logic Pro 8 Garageband Mixer channel menu are referred to as external Midi sampled instruments - still, IMHO the process is not clearly spelled out in the User Manual. The simple step by step process whereby a non-Garage band instrument, say an orchestral instrument, is placed in a channel replete with Midi event (notes) waiting to be played should be easy, logical and given in a simple to follow format, but is not.
What with all the talk of routes, busses, auxillary channels, GM devices, GM mixers, audio bins, libraries and audio files this Logic Pro User is confused to the max. Can someone please help me and, in simple English, describe the step by step process whereby presumably external sampled orchestral instruments can be successfully employed, in any given Logic Pro arrangement project, to render their characteristic sounds upon playback?
On my two Macs, one a laptop and one a much larger Mac, I have any number of the GSO (Garritan Symphony Orceshtra) and Vienna Symphony Orchestra instrument library samples - and yet - I've yet to figure out how to actually get them INTO a Logic Pro project of any kind! To put this as a question, even as a humble request, how can I make good use of these orchestral sample libraries in a Logic Pro project? Can someone steer my to a clear resolution of this issue. David, you understand that this is professional software and is not necessarily meant to be easy but is in fact designed to give the professional user as many choices as possible, that's why it's in the Pro Apps section. You WILL need to learn about buses, GM Devices, Audio Bins, Libraries...etc..etc if you intend to use Logic.
That said, you are looking in the wrong place in the channel strip.

Open "Exploring Logic Pro" (a short PDF Document). Pay special attention to chapter 3. Also pay special attention to the included graphics of the channel strips.
I encourage you to read the whole document as it will clear up many things... even though it's a Logic 9 document.

Or if you want to grab all the paths programatically, try the attached VI.
Open the top level that you want all the paths from and close all others, then open the
attached and run it. It will return an array of all the VIs that the VI
in question uses, including vi.lib VIs. You can filter these as well if
you like.

Hi,
The Piecewise linear source (PWL) accepts data as voltage or current vs. time. You can find this part by selecting Place>>Component, go to the "Sources" group then select "Signal voltage sources". Place this part on the work area, double-click on it and there should be an option to open a .txt file.

How to call a SP with dynamic columns and output results into a .csv file via SSIS

hi Folks, I have a challenging question here. I've created a SP called dbo.ResultsWithDynamicColumns and take one parameter of CONVERT(DATE,GETDATE()), the uniqueness of this SP is that the result does not have fixed columns as it's based on sales from previous
days. For example, Previous day, customers have purchased 20 products but today , 30 products have been purchased.
Right now, on SSMS, I am able to execute this SP when supplying a parameter. What I want to achieve here is to automate this process and send the result as a .csv file and SFTP to a server.
SFTP part is kinda easy as I can call WinSCP with proper script to handle it. How to export the result of a dynamic SP to a .CSV file?

Hey Jakub, thanks and I did see the #temp table issue in our 2008R2. I finally figured it out in a different way... I manage to modify this dynamic SP to output results into
a physical table. This table will be dropped and recreated everytime when SP gets executed... After that, I used a SSIS pkg to output this table
to a file destination which is .csv.
The downside is that if this table structure ever gets changed, this SSIS pkg will fail or not fully reflecting the whole table. However, this won't happen often
and I can live with that at this moment.

I agree. Why use excel to read an Access file? They are virtually one and the same thing. But you could implement the AbstractTableModel in java and create your own version of Excel. Much more fun.
