LabView 2010 - CVI Driver Import Wizard

I have previously downloaded and used the driver import wizard to create LabView VIs from a CVI driver. Specifically with Labview 8.x and 2009.
However the latest version of the wizard (v1.3) will not install with LabView 2010 and there isn't a newer one to download w- So the question is, does anyone know if there is an intention to update this wizard so I can use it with LV 2010 ?
Thanks

Hi,
I am having the same problem. Please let me know if this has been resolved yet.
I tried copying the following directories to labview 2010:
from     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\resource\CVIFpConv
to          C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\resource\CVIFpConv
and
from     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\project\_DriverCtoLV
to         C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\project\_DriverCtoLV
and the wizard loads and runs until I specify a .fp file and then I get the error in the jpeg attached. When I try to open the block diagram (FC_RFL_Initialize.vi), it says you need a password to view it, so that stops my debugging.

    Solved!

    Hi Brad,
So glad to get your post here!
I’m looking forward to download the new installer.
I wonder whether the new driver will support the 10/100 Ethernet Physical Layer Interface, since the last drivers aren’t support this feature!?
Also, will be any new examples included with the new driver? For instance: an example for the StartaFlash Memory; I have done an example for this but I couldn’t get it work! I don’t know why! You may check my post and the example in the following link!
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Spartan-3E-StrataFlash-Memory-wrong-reading/m-p/1030898
By the way, is there any plane to develop a driver for the Spartan-3E (1600Kgate) kit? Both kits (500KGate and 1600KGate) have the sample on-board peripherals, the only difference is in the number of Gates (FPGA chip). I think all that is needed is to add the component ID (29597843---->3E1600) and revise the xc3s1600e.bsd and 3sXXXe.nph.
Thanks in advance & kindest regards,

  • No longer able to import CVI Instrument Driver in LabView 2010

    Hello,
I used to be able to download the Import CVI Instrument Driver Wizard in LabView 2009, but there is no wizard for 2010?
I also tried importing the driver with the shared library import, but then Binary, Slides and Rings do not come up with their values i.e. if my slide in CVI has 3 positions :
    Description      Value
    Item 1                 1
    Item 2                 2
    Item 3                 3
    or if my Binary has
    Description      Value
    On                        1
    Off                        0
they do not import the description into LabView 2010?
I tried copying the directories created by the 2009-wizard to the directories of 2010 i.e.:
    from     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\resource\CVIFpConv
    to          C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\resource\CVIFpConv
    and
    from     C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\project\_DriverCtoLV

  • Error: LabWindow CVI driver for Lab View 2011 (using hp4145a)

What is the DLL for the Agilent hp4145a instrument driver?
I am trying to convert the LabWindows/CVI Agilent hp4145 intrument driver for use in labview 2011, but keep getting errors related to an incorrect DLL.

    Hi Courtney L.,
Your prompt response is much appreciated. Thank you.
I have attached the "hp4145 LabVIEW Wrapper Conversion Report" as a txt file
    - this report was automatically downloaded along with the"LabVIEW Instrument Driver Import Wizard (LabVIEW Interface Generator for LabWindows/CVI Instrument Drivers)" *(link listed below), and popped up at the end of the installation.
If any specific details or a screenshot will also be of benefit to solving this problem, I will be able to post them by tomorrow night.

  • Importing CVI driver to LabVIEW 5.1

    Hi,
I want to import a CVI driver to LabVIEW 5.1. I am familiar with the process of converting CVI driver to LabVIEW 7 library but i do not find that tab in labVIEW 5.1
    Can somebody help me out?
    Regards,
    Siddu

    Hi Siddu,
Since there isn't a direct way to "Import CVI Instrument Driver" to LabVIEW 5.1, you will have to build the code that calls the CVI driver yourself. You can either call the CVI code using a CIN Node or you can compile the driver to a DLL and call it from LabVIEW using a Call Library Function Node. I definitely prefer the latter approach. All you then have to do is create small 'wrapper'-VIs that call each function in the DLL. Remember to connect the front panel objects of the VI to the connector pane, so it can be called as a SubVI.
Search our Web site for information on how to create a DLL in CVI and use the following manual for information on how to call the DLL from LabVIEW:

  • Instrument driver import for 2010

The instrument driver import plug-in is not available for 2010 yet.  The work-around is obvious (import in 2009> copy>mass-compile) but a bit frustrating.

    Hi Brian
You're right. The 55292a usb expansion Module is from Agilent Technologies. It can house the Agilent 10887A calibrator board (ISA Slot) for the interferometer hp 5519A. Because we want to use this interferometer with a pc that has no ISA slot, we bougth that expansion module (3 years ago). Unfortunately the cd from agilent has no driver for this device. There's only a program on it. The other point is, that Agilent sold this device to another company and this company sold me this drivers (I think there are no others).
The problem is now, that Agilent don't support the device at all. The other company won't support the drivers running in LabView and national Instruments (Germany) also told me that they won't support me in this case.
But you were right about the COM library I think. I now can see the methods from the drivers, but they are grayed out (except two of them, see attachement).
Thanks for your offer to have a look at the dll. The problem is, that I had to buy this drivers and think the company wouldn't be happy to see me share them here... Can I send them by email to you? My adress is: [email protected]
Thank you very much for your help!

  • How do I use "LabVIEW dll import wizard" to import NETAPI32.dll

I am trying to use the LabVIEW dll import wizard for the first time. I am not very familiar in C-coding so this might be a good help instead of configuring CallLibraryFunction nodes myself.
I want to import NETAPI.dll. I am interested in several functions in that dll, but my main priority is the funtion NetUserGetInfo(). On MSDN I have found that the header file for the mentioned function should be: lmaccess.h (include lm.h).
    My problem is this:
The shared library contains 317 function(s). But no function is found and recognized in the header file. The following function(s) cannot be wrapped. If you want to import these functions, please review the warning messages next to the functions below. You will need to fix the problems before you can continue with the wizard.
The function cannot be imported into LabVIEW. This might be caused by one of the following problems:
The function is not declared in the header file but is exported in the library.
Check the header file to make sure it contains declarations of the function.
Undefined symbols can prevent the wizard from recognizing functions and parameters. To correct this problem, check the header file to determine if you must add predefined symbols. Click the Back button to return to the previous page of the wizard to add a predefined symbol (for example, "NIAPI_stdcall = __stdcall" or "NIAPIDefined = 1").

Any suggestions how I can solve my issue?

This is not being accepted by import wizard
Can anyone please enlighten me on this?

I tried another machine, 64 bit of course, as I want to deploy my application on a 64bit PC, but still got the same problem.
This other machine was from HP, iCore 3 (4 CPUs) 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM and running Windows Professional 64 bit.
Now as I see it, it could be a Run-time environment mis-match error.
For this I tried installing a 64 bit LVRTE from NI, but still no sucess.
I checked DEP, for all 3 PCs and it was set to the following
Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only (first option).
I am confused. I can not find a solution for this and it is really frustrating.

But I am assuming that when I make the installer, the 32-bit Run Time Engine is appened with the installer, as show below
Since from the picture you can see its including the support installers from '\Program Files (x86)\'
The application runs queries to fetch data from database in SQL server 2008, and for that I am using a Microsoft SQL Native Client 2008 R2 64 bit ( this is the only version that installs on either PC, even the one on which I developed my LV Application).
I am not using any driver, only toolkits for reports - and for that I un-checked the "Remove unused polymorphic VI instances" when making the executable, otherwise LV throws up an exception that share variable are not being included.
Yes I did reboot every time after I ran the installation.
    Still getting the same error.

  • Dll import wizard won't go past "Configure include paths"

In the LabVIEW 8.5 version of the "Shared Library Import Wizard" I'm unable to proceed past the "Configure include paths" screen. I get a dialog that reads "Parsing header file" butI am returned to the"Configure Include Paths" screen.
The library imported without error in LabVIEW 8.2.1.
There is no "Report Generation Toolkit" installed.

I can confirm that I am able to use the "Call Library Function"

get up to the "configure_paths" screen and when I click Next I am shown
the "parse_dialog" screen momentarily but am returned to the
"configure_paths" screen after about 3 seconds.
     I have
tried an install on another machine with identical results. The .dll I

well under LabVIEW 8.2.1's import wizard.

    Hi Susheel,
RFC module interface parameters (import, export , tables) can only refer to data dictionary types. Hence if you currently have one of the parameters referring to a type defined in your function group main include or in a type pool, you need to create a SE11 data dictionary structure/ table type for that and then change the data type reference.
    Cheers,
    Aditya

  • How to get Point Grey Dragonfly firewire cameras to work with LabVIEW 2010

We recently got a new computer.  The O.S. is Windows 7, 64-bit.  It has LabVIEW 2010 (also 64-bit) and the Vision Development Module, as well as the Vision Acquisition Driver.  We also have Point Grey Dragonfly Express cameras.  The first trial of using LabVIEW to get images from one of the cameras yielded greyscale images (they are color cameras).  We then installed the Point Grey drivers (flycapture2.1.3.4_x64).  After installing the drivers, the camera was is no longer recognized in MAX.  Does anyone have pointers or advice?  Thanks.

It's been a bit since I've messed with camera settings. But I think LabVIEW requires the NI-IMAQdx driver and the greyscale was from not setting the bayer filter. I can't poke around my camera settings right now, so I can't double check.

  • 3D graphs cause LabVIEW 2010 to hang

I've been using LabVIEW  2010 for several weeks without any problems, but today I noticed that it doesn't work at all with anything related to the 3D picture control. Today was the first time that I tried doing anything with the 3D picture tool since installing LV 2010. Dropping any of the 3D Graphs on the front panel of a new VI causes LV2010 to hang. (By hang, I mean the VI window remains open but most UI things no longer work.  Right-clicking on the window does not show a context menu.  The main menu doesn't work.  The X button does not close the VI front panel window nor the diagram window. Control-Q does not cause LabVIEW to quit.  I have to kill the process in Task Manager.)  It is the same story with just a plaing 3D picture indicator.  Also, the solarsystem.vi example does not work either.  The problems start as soon as I open the solarsystem.vi.  After killing LV with Task Manager and relaunching LV10, I do not get the LV message about a previous crash.
The problem I am talking about is for LabVIEW 2010 with the f2 patch running in Win7.  I am actually running it using VMware Fusion 3.1.3 on a 2009 Mac Pro running Lion.  The Mac drivers are all updated.  Since it is VMware Fusion machine, the video driver on the Windows side is part of the VMware Tools installation, which is up to date.
After searching the forums, I've tried all the other potential solutions I could find:  1) repaired LV2010 using add/remove programs and 2) tried using the compatibilty mode settings to turn off Aero.
Interestingly, 3D graphs work fine on the Mac side for LV2010 for Mac.
Even more insterestingly, 3D graphs work fine on Win7 for LV 8.5, which I still have installed.  The fact that it works fine for LV 8.5 would seem to indicate that Lion did not introduce the problem and that the video driver is working fine.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yep, it's the same virtual machine.  I set it up almost 2 years ago and it has been extremely stable.  Both LabVIEW 8.5 and 2010 have been perfectly happy on it.  It's a great way to do LabVIEW on Win7.  I didn't notice any changes at all to the VM when I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion.  I installed LabVIEW 2010 before upgrading to Lion, but I didn't have occasion to work with 3D controls before the upgrade to Lion so I don't know if it would have worked on Snow Leopard.  The Mac versions of both LabVIEW 8.5 and LabVIEW 2010 also work great on the both Snow Leopard and Lion.
I happen to have an XP virtual machine too, but I haven't installed LabVIEW there.  Let me know if that would be a worthwhile test.
You might check with Marc Page--unless he has already upgraded again I think he has a similar machine to mine.
