Labview 2010 installation fails

Hi,
I am trying to install LV2010 but all my attempts have failed so far. I installed it -> reboot -> the error message came "The installation of this application may be corrupt" [or something very similar]. I couldn't even run the License manager or any sort of NI softwares because the same error message popped up. Then I deleted the complete National Instruments folder from the Program Files, stopped all NI services in the Control Panel - Administration tools and rebooted the computer.
After all that I tried to reinstall LV2010 but I got the error message during the installation that at first "Labview 2010 must be installed" [or something very similar]. At one software component the installer told me that "Labview 8.6 must be installed"...
Does somebody have an idea how to proceed?
The OS is Vista.
Thanks,
Krivan

Hi Krivan,
It sounds like you need to clean up your registry.
Give this link a lookover. If it doesn't help please post back.

  • LabVIEW 2015 Installation failed...again

One year ago, I reported my failed LV 2014 installation on a Friday evening:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/LabVIEW-2014-Install-failed/m-p/2948108
I am (not) happy to report that nothing changed and LV 2015 Installation failed this Friday afternoon with the exact same message:
I can't reboot my Windows virtual machine until next week, so I'll have to wait and see whether old tricks still work (they probably do).
Meanwhile, I succesfully reinstalled LV 2013 32 bits and MathScript 2013 (the latter being what I was interested in in the first place, but I was misled into downloading the 2015 version of it, which required LV 2015, which...)

Here is the full story: I wanted to try out something with MathScript RT, which I hadn't installed. I looked the toolkit up on NI.com and was sent to a page with all toolkits and LV. Downloaded it without checking much of anything and was told during installation that I needed LV 2015 to do that (my mistake). Concluded that I had been sent to the LV 2015 download page, to which I returned to install LV 2015.
    What happened is history.
Just as an aside, I tried to reinstall LV 2013 32 bit to try the MathScript toolkit (which is incompatible with LV 2013 64 bit) and that install went like a charm. Go figure.
Yes, LV 2015 is out and downloadable since at least Friday afternoon.
And since my point has been missed by the best and brightest: I haven't had a LV install go without a disturbing error message like this for a while (I realize that this sentence's structure is a bit over the top so here is it in plain English: it always fails the first time). There is no warning about it in the readme, and looking for a solution on ni.com is a cat and mouse game (in fact there is no real solution). The practical fix is indeed simple (but still requires a reinstall). Since this is a common issue (at least since a few releases), maybe someone ought to look into it.

  • DAQmx support for LabVIEW 2010

FYI to those downloading LabVIEW 2010 from NI web site:
After Installing LabVIEW 2010 (download from web site), I noticed that there is no support for DAQmx (i.e.. VI libraries) in NI_DeviceDrivers-February2010 DVD (my latest copy).  Your have to download and install DAQmx 9.2 drivers (the first to include LabVIEW 2010 support).
Additionally, If you were using Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) 7.4.4 VIs in a prior version of LabVIEW, you must do one of the following:
          1. Uninstall current Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) 7.4.4 installation and re-install after completing LabVIEW 2010 installation.
Reason: Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) installs support only for the latest version of LabVIEW found on the system.
    Or
          2. Copy the the "<previous LabVIEW>\vi.lib\Daq" directory and all it contents to a new "<LabVIEW 2010\vi.lib\Daq directory.  This way you can use Traditional NI-DAQ in both versions of LabVIEW.

I didn't have DVDs, I had to download.
Yes it was a mess.  The device driver download took forever (NI can't help that).  The installation took beyond forever (what else can be done?).
I was disappointed that I had to do all of this backing up of legacy folders and restoring them after installing the device drivers.  Why does NI always have device drivers and toolkits install to the latest version of Labview only?  Why couldn't they leave the legacy stuff alone??  I still use LV2009 and wanted to try LV2010.  This involved a whole lot of trouble and time.
NI needs to provide a much easier way to upgrade, while still allowing previous versions to work without modification.  Most people who upgrade will not completely abandon the older versions.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 Installation Failed. - Error While Locating Source (Windows Installer)

    Hey Guys,
Urgent question here:  I was trying to install SP3 for Exchange 2010. Unfortunately it failed on the install (all pre-requisites checked and passed). The problem: Windows Installer couldn't find a the exchangeserver.msi file. This happened immediately
    after setup stopped the services.
I tried re-downloading the service pack and reinstalling, I got the same error. Anytime I selected the file using browse it failed and re-prompted me.
    Error:
"click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "exchangeserver.msi" in the box below"
So here is what I did:
    1) I reset all the services to automatic (the same way as before)
    2) Rebooted the server
    3) All Service started
    4) DAG replication is working
I am going to work on figuring out how to fix the issue, however will this be a problem? will there be any data corruption? am I safe to let the server sit until I can open a ticket (if needed) ?
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hi,
    Thank you for your question.
In order to resolve it, we could click the Browse button in the dialog box, locate the ExchangeServer.msi file, and then click OK
to continue the installation. The ExchangeServer.msi file is located on the Exchange Server 2010 installation media。
There are a referred link for us:

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

  • LabVIEW 2010 only installs if DVD drive is D:

My DVD drive letter was F or G and the installer for the LabVIEW 2010 Developer Suite would not run properly.  I believe the error was that a file was missing. I decided to try and make the drive D: and it worked after that.
    Just though others should know.

LV 2010 was missing from the distribution I was using.  After downloading the missing piece, install from F: went fine.

I found a pretty simple solution to this problem.  If you just run the Lync.msi rather than the OCSetupLauncher.exe it seemed to fix my issue.
However, before you can run the Lync.msi you must add a registry entry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator
    DWORD -> UseMSIForLyncInstallation
    -> set = 1

I know this is an old post but maybe this will help someone.

  • Running an 8.5.1 installer fails on Win7

Is there an easy work around to install an 8.5.1 application (build installer in LabVIEW proj) on a windows7 machine.  It fails the runtime installation.
I know I could rebuild the appliacation and installer in LabVIEW 2010 but am trying to avoid this since there are many copies throughout the world of this instalation disk.

I am not installing labview but a labview exe installer for a custom app (has visa added as well).
I know - I understood that when reading your post. Same still applies here.

  • Xilinx 10.1 vs 11.5 LabVIEW 2010 FPGA

I am using LabVIEW 2010, a PXI-8186 controller running LabVIEW Real-Time, and a PXI-7853R FPGA Target. There seems to be an issue with compiling the FPGA code. Without going into all of that detail, as others within the company have taken that route without success, I have another path that I would like to test.
LabVIEW 2010 defaults to the xilinx 11.5 compiler. Is there a way to tell, force, LabVIEW 2010 to use the xilink 10.1 compile rather than the 11.5 (old versus new compiler)? I do not need a why are you doing that answer. I want to test it to see if there is something in the new compiler that is causing the issues.
    Thank you for any help,
    Bill
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Here is what I did FIRST: put in the installation DVD (Controls and Embedded System Software) and that's what I got to eventually:
Then I selected the first item and chose to install it. The following pop-up menu followed:
I pressed Yes and ended up here:
To be on the safe side, I even selected the Farm Toolkit. Installed, rebooted. It failed.
The second attempt (guided by NI) was to repair my installation. For this (Windows XP), I used "Add or Remove Programs" and in NI Software I selected the following:
Repaired (~3hrs) then rebooted. Still does not work. I am waiting for a call back from NI...

I tried another machine, 64 bit of course, as I want to deploy my application on a 64bit PC, but still got the same problem.
This other machine was from HP, iCore 3 (4 CPUs) 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM and running Windows Professional 64 bit.
Now as I see it, it could be a Run-time environment mis-match error.
For this I tried installing a 64 bit LVRTE from NI, but still no sucess.
I checked DEP, for all 3 PCs and it was set to the following
Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only (first option).
I am confused. I can not find a solution for this and it is really frustrating.

But I am assuming that when I make the installer, the 32-bit Run Time Engine is appened with the installer, as show below
Since from the picture you can see its including the support installers from '\Program Files (x86)\'
The application runs queries to fetch data from database in SQL server 2008, and for that I am using a Microsoft SQL Native Client 2008 R2 64 bit ( this is the only version that installs on either PC, even the one on which I developed my LV Application).
I am not using any driver, only toolkits for reports - and for that I un-checked the "Remove unused polymorphic VI instances" when making the executable, otherwise LV throws up an exception that share variable are not being included.
Yes I did reboot every time after I ran the installation.
    Still getting the same error.

  • Run-time engine problem in Labview 2009 and Labview 2010

I have a problem with Labview 2009 and Labview 2010. I updated my Labview 2009 into 2010. But it turned out to be a trial one, because i did not have the serial number. So I uninstalled the Labview 2010. however, the funny stuff came over. I cannot use my Labview 2009. So i uninstalled Labview 2009 again. But eventually, I could not reinstall Labview 2009. Every time i had a runtime error and i could not proceed with the installation. in addition, any installation  related to Labview is not permitted and the same error came up every time. it is very annoying.
    So, What is the deal?
I attached the error here. Any comments or advice are welcomed and appreciated.

By chance is this machine's language set to any non-English locale?  You would check the locale setting by:
    Opening Control Panel.
    Opening "Regional and Language Options".
Looking Under "Regional Options" >> "Standards and Formats"
If it is set to something besides English, trying setting it to English and please report back what locale it was set to (or if this even solves the problem).
