Labview 2011 application crashes from time to time

Hi together,
from time to time my LV application crashes. This happens in different stages of the program.
I use some ext. DLLs written in C, some simple IO hardware and some serial communications with ext. hardware.
My feeling is that it has s.th. to do with the upgrade from LV 851 to  LV 2011, but I'm not sure.
On target PC and on develpment PC we're using WXP Pro. SP3.
Many Thanks.

The crash dialog from LV indicates (most common reason) an unhandled exception thrown by a component used in your application. Therefore, the OS shuts down the process of this exception, in your case LV.
From experience, external code is a prominent source for such exceptions. You should try removing all DLL calls as a first step for pin-pointing the source of the crash. If the crash is not occuring anymore, it is most likely that a call has invalid parameters (e.g. empty array instead of a predefined buffer).
Try to boil down the issue as much as possible. To be honest, this could be a very time consuming issue, but you have little to no choice i assume.
Sidenote: Do you have the Desktop Execution Trace Toolkit? If yes, run it and observe memroy allocations, reference leaks and unhandled errors as primary parameters.

  • Applications crashes several times during startup.

Nearly Everytime I opens an application the application crashes several times.
Then I relaunces the application. Sometimes the program starts, other times I have to do the relaunch several time before the Application starts.
    This behavier has all Applications.
The OS is just restored and it after the restore theese problems have started.
Does anybody have had the same experience?
    Thanks in advance

First of all, make a complete backup of your system. Ideally, use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to create a bootable HD. Check it works by booting from it, then remove this from your Mac and put it somewhere safe. If you are runnign Time Machine, then this will do at a pinch. But if you have an additional spare HD, use that instead.
Then you need to check your HD. Boot from your Leopard DVD and use Disk Utility to check and repair your HD.
If that doesn't fix it then there are 2 possibilities; it's account related, or it's system related.
To test for account problems, create a brand new user account. Log in to it and see if the problem persists.
If it does then it sounds like you have a bad install. I recommend an Archive and Install and then reinstalling your apps from DVD / fresh download.

    Bug (LabVIEW 2011 sp1 crash)
    1) Open LabVIEW
    2) Blank VI
    3) Front Panel / View / Class Browser
    follow exactly this :
Class Browser / Object library ---> select "LabVIEW Classes" ---> and then clic "Search"
result : The window "Class Browser Search" opens ----> do nothing ... just "Cancel"
back to the window Class Browser ...
Class Browser / Object library ----> now select "DAQmx"
result : in the window Class Browser : Objet library = DAQmx
                                           Class         = DAQmx buffer
    don't touch anything else (!)
and now clic "Search" ... LV CRASH

When you meet your colleagues, could you ask them, of course when they have time, to create this number.
This will make me happy,  and this would be a small reward      for this bug report.
Thank you very much in advance ThiCop

  • Application Crashes Every time I Click the Path dropdown in the save....

    Here we go.....
Every time I want to save in ANY appllication to a mounted server and click the path drop down in the save dialouge box my application crashes. I can save my files fine in column view but if I'm in list view my save dialouge box doesn't even show me the heirarchy of files either. So here is the error that I keep geting, maybe someone can make sense of it.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
You could try performing a clean installation: [[Knowledge Base Article]] :
Some Firefox issues can be resolved by downloading a new Firefox installer from Mozilla.com, then closing Firefox, deleting the Firefox application folder (program files) and reinstalling Firefox. If this does not help, or if you would rather completely remove Firefox and start over instead of completing all the troubleshooting steps, follow these steps:
    1. Download the latest official version of Firefox from Mozilla.com.
    * You should avoid unofficial download sites that bundle Firefox with other software such as the Google Toolbar.
    2. If you wish to retain your current profile, you should make a backup copy of it. See Backing up your information for instructions.
    3. Uninstall Firefox and make sure you remove the Firefox application (program) folder and your Firefox personal data (user data and settings) - see Uninstalling Firefox for instructions.
    4. Reinstall Firefox - see Installing Firefox for instructions.
    5. When Firefox is started for the first time, the Import Wizard will appear and a new profile will be created.
    6. Verify that the issue no longer appears.
    7. If you made a backup of your old profile and wish to restore your old information, see Recovering important data from an old profile. For troubleshooting purposes, only copy the files corresponding to your bookmarks and saved passwords.
    8. Reinstall your extensions and themes one by one to determine if any specific one is causing the issue.

  • Apple Applications Crash After Time Machine Restore

I recently had to do a full system restore using Time Machine. Ever since the restore completed, most of the Apple applications on my iMac immediately crash when I try to open them. Luckily, Disk Utility is one of the applications that does not crash, so I tried to verify/restore permissions, however, when I try to, I am given this:
    Repairing permissions for “Macintosh HD”
Warning: SUID file "Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app/Contents/Resources/kcproxy" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Printers/IOMs/LPRIOM.plugin/Contents/MacOS/LPRIOMHelper" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Reso urces/Locum" has been modified and will not be repaired.

    Repaired "usr/share/derby".
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
    Permissions repair complete
However, according to this KB article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448, those are all errors that I can "safely ignore".
This is what the Problem Report says when one of the applications crashes (this one is for iTunes, but they are pretty much all the same):

In addition to not being able to run about 95% of my Apple applications, I can also no longer connect to my Time Capsule Time Machine backups. I am able to SEE the files in the built-in hard drive, but I can not mount the sparsebundle for the backups of any of my computers. I am however able to access them on a different computer. Also, if I try to use System Recovery from my Snow Leopard install disk again, it can't find any backups on my Time Capsule, even though my other computer can view the files with no problem.
Any help with any of these problems would be greatly appreciated.

I had a couple of apps start crashing today, with basically the same stuff in the crash reports.
Reinstalling Safari (which also reinstalls the WebKit and JavascriptCore frameworks, which seem to be part of the problem) worked for me.
I found that solution here, after Googling for "Symbol not found: __ZNK3JSC6JSCell17getTruncatedInt32ERi":
    http://www.meproxsoft.de/tag/time-machine/
I know very little German (even though I took German in high school-- it might have helped if the teacher actually knew English), but I managed to get "repair permissions" and "reinstall Safari" from all that.

  • Flash Builder 4.4, Application crashes every time when i start profiling and take memory snapshort?

    Hello all,
i have a real wired problem, when ever i start profiling my application in Adobe Flash builder and take a memory  snapshot the application crash, and these dialogs appears.
i have tried Adobe flash builder 4.4, 4.5, 4.6 all of these have same behavior on window xp, while on mac os x the 4.6 version is working fine for profiling but the debug mode crashes every time. while 4.4 and 4.5 crashes on profiling and working fine for the rest of the work.
    help required
    regards.

If there are any saved web pages or HTML files in the same folder that you're trying to upload from, move or delete those files and try again. Otherwise, try moving the files you want to upload to a different folder.

  • Debug mode (EP6 SP 2) crashs from time to time

    hi folks,
we got a very well running portal ep6 sp2 which
we use for iview development. the developers use
pdk and eclipse and we start the portal in debug
    mode.
what happens is that from time to time it gets
unpossible to connect to the debug port. it is not
possbible to debug an iview from eclipse. the
connection to the debug port is not possible anymore.
the only solutions i got is a portal restart to ensure
that our developer can use the debug port. but that
takes too much time. does anybody know what leads to that
phenomenon? and how can we reanimate the portal to be
    debugged without a complete restart?
    i really appreciate any help,
    maik

    Hi Tracy,
Has it ever been shut off from AC power for any length of time?
I'm thinking a dead or weak PRAM Battery may cause the boot mode to change.
Unless of course it might be a sticky Shift key.
       1. Access the command line by either opening Terminal remotely, or by logging into the computer from another via SSH.
       2. Execute the following command in Terminal or on the command line:
          sudo nvram boot-args="-x"
(If you want to start in Verbose mode as well, use sudo nvram boot-args="-x -v" instead )
       3. After using Safe Boot, to return to a normal startup, execute this command in Terminal or the command line:
          sudo nvram boot-args=""

  • Application Crash From Networked Folder

A while back, it seems about the time I downloaded the QuickTime 7.6 update, I started having applications crash while in the Place, Open & Save windows. As they open I find myself in a certain folder. Usually, if I want to move up the folder hierarchy I click the tab at the top, which drops down the path to the current folder. I could then pick another point on that path.
However, the second I click on the tab the application crashes. The funny thing is that it only happens if I am clicking it while in a networked folder, not a local one.
I can click the volume icon on the side bar and then move down from there, but this gets very tedious, as all of our customer files are on a networked volume. I am also unable to use the left arrow key to move up; I can move down and back up, but only as far up as the starting folder. Curiously, I can hold the command key and the left arrow, but it usually jumps multiple steps up the path; that's often better than nothing.
I have already tried fixes I found having to do with deleting preferences and/or control panels associated with StuffIt, and also QuickTime, and other fixes. No luck. I'm starting to lose track of everything I have tried.
I would really like to avoid a system reinstall. That may not be worth it to me.
    Specs:
    20" iMac G5 Intel; X10.4.11; Networked over wired Ethernet to a 500GB firewire external HD via a 17" iMac G4; X10.4.11

I have not use the Migration Assistant. I had been using the 20" Intel iMac fine for a year or two when this started happening.
The G4 is just used to serve the files from the 500GB. The 20" is used like a work station. We actually have 2; the other one doesn't have this problem. The G4 doesn't have the problem either.
    Additional Info:
    Apps that crash:
    • Adobe InDesign
    • Illustrator
    • Photoshop
    • MS Word

Apps that don't appear to crash:

    • Apple Mail
    • iChat

  • LabVIEW Access Violation Crashes from TestStand

We've been seeing numerous LabVIEW crashes when calling VIs through the LabVIEW adapter in TestStand.  I've searched the knowledge base and discussion forums without success and figured I would post here before opening a help request.
The actual error we see is:
Exception: Access violation (0xC0000005) at EIP=0x012B60E6  Version: 11.0.1f1
We see these crashes several times a day, but while calling no specific VI.  They happen mostly on 2 PCs that are running Windows 7 - 64 bit, but we've seen them in the past on PCs running the 32 bit version of Windows 7. Here is the data related to those 2 problematic PCs.
    OS:  Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit
    LabVIEW: 2011 SP1 (11.0.1f1) 32 bit
    TestStand: 2010 SP1 (4.5.1.134) 32 bit
PC:  Dell Optiplex 790 with Intel Core i5
    Other significant information.
We see these crashes when we're running the batch model in TestStand with multiple threads open.  Some VIs are reentrant, and some are not.
The 2 PCs that run the batch model (with multiple threads) have the 64 bit version of Win 7 Pro, and crash most often.
The 3 PCs that run the sequential model or the batch model with a single thread have the 32 bit version of Win 7 Pro and rarely if ever have crashed.
Not sure if it's related to the OS version or the multi-thread usage and switching the PCs/OS versions to isolate that isn't easy.
Has anyone else seen similar issues?  Does Windows 7 Pro 64 bit work reliably with TestStand and LabVIEW 2011 32 bit versions?  I posted this question in the LabVIEW discussion forum, but I don't know where the issue resides, I'm posting in the TestStand forum also.
    Any information would be appreciated.
    John Morrissey

I just had the same error in a LVOOP Project. First I got a crash (something with out of memory). The I got subsequent Access Violations. Could trace it down to one VI that:
    a) had been working just fine before
    b) wasn't changed after test mentioned in a) but got (even just running on its own) subsequent access violations every time I ran it
    c) VI used a class konstant, property node (to set 2 class attributes); Inputs were a string and an integer and an error cluster; outputs: one instance of the class (initialized with string an integer) and the error cluster
    d) Problem could be solved by deleting the class constant used in the VI and put the same in again (an just rewired the thing); I assume this caused a recompile that solved the prob
Maybe this helps narrowing the general problem down.
P.S: I dont have a still non working version of that VI, since I was happy to have solved this and just saved the VI before thinking about making a copy.

  • Intermedia web agent for IIS - crashes from time to time

    Hi,
We have Intermedia images in a table on our Oracle 8.1.6 Database.
We have a web server (Running IIS 4) and a database server, both running on NT 4 and on two seperated computer but in the same LAN.
We have installed the Intermedia web agent for IIS and it usually works fine, but every 3 days or so it crashes. On the "ISAPI filters" form of the IIS a red "down arrow" is shown next to the intermedia's DLL.
I click on "edit", "apply" and "ok" and then I restart the IIS. The filter starts to function again like nothing happened.
Do you have any idea why it happens?
This is critical because we can not go "production" without making sure this thing works without crashed.
    Thanks,
    Lior King,
    Internet Dept. manager.

I don't know from the screenshots.  Is there anything in your log files?  /var/log/* that corresponds to the time of the crash?
Have you considered that it is a hardware problem?  Try running memtest86+ to see if it's bad memory.  Check for SMART errors on your filesystems with smartmontools.

  • My Notes application crashes each time I open it

Each time I try to opne my NOTES application it crashes and I cannot use it. How can I re-install it and reste it?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
    TD

I'm running JDK 1.3.1, Tomcat 4.0.1, Borland JBuilder 6 latest update with fitting Borland Enterprise Server. The VisiBroker Smart Agent is running. So I start my container containing a few EJBs. The I start my WebApp, consuming the EJBs.
I can work with it between a few Minutes and several hours but suddenly I cet errors from my WebApp. I take a look into the log of the Containers and I get the following (excerpt).
Does anybody know this error ob even better know a solution?
    Thank you,
    Rolf.

Well, it looks like you're using a JDBC/ODBC bridge. Clearly something's seriously broken there, and you could try submitting the log file to Sun.
However, it also looks as if you're allowing JDBC connections to be closed because they're becoming unreachable rather than because you're explicitly closing them. This is never a good idea. You could try closing them in the appropriate place (ejbRemove at a guess). This may solve your problem. At worst your container will crash sooner :(

  • MacBook very very slow, crashing from time to time

Today I found my mac freezing with safari. So i decided to restart my computer. However, when I did, my mac took quite a while before it started up again. It would stay on each stage for ~5 mins each (white screen apple loading, blue screen, desktop loading). At the blue screen stage, I can see my mouse cursor and I can move the cursor around. At the desktop loading stage, the mouse cursor would change to the rainbow wheel. Opening applications like Mail, Safari and Word would cause my mac to freeze and hang for a while before fully loading it up. I've downloaded programs like Onyx to try and clean up my computer and even tried to follow other forum posts in terms of cleaning up my hard drive like the one where you go into terminal and type diskutil repair Volume.
I've done so myself but I get this message in response:
    w47:~ ****$ diskutil repairVolume
    Usage: diskutil repairVolume MountPoint|DiskIdentifier|DeviceNode
Repair the file system data structure of a volume.
Ownership of the affected disk is required.
    w47:~ ****$ diskutil repairVolume /Volumes/"Macintosh HD"
Started filesystem repair on disk0s2 Macintosh HD
Error: -10000: Could not unmount disk
I'm currently at University right now and my macbook disc that i bought my macbook with is at home. I don't have access to an Apple store in my town (aka going in for help at a genius bar).
Bottom line, I'm just wondering is there anything I can do now to fix this problem? I'll probably have to take it in to get it checked out when I have time.

Step one is to repair the HD. Reformatting is normally not required. Reinstalling the OS after the disk passes that repair cycle might be. Additionally, see:

  • PP 2014.2 8.2 (65 Build) wont open videos. The application crashes every time. Even in new projects.

Version- Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.2 (65 Build)
    Running on Windows 7
One of the files formats was WMX which was listed in the compatible list for Premiere I read. (Don't have a link to that list right now).
Computer hardware- Dell Latitude E5440. Processor- Intel core i5 4600-u @ 1.5ghz with 8GB RAM and a 120GB Hard drive. Graphics card- Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
And this computer is running Creative cloud just an FYI.
    Troubleshooting steps-
-Cleaned cache within program under preferences.
-Tried creating a new project and inserting a local video clip and it still crashed.
-Tried multiple existing project files that have been worked on with this program on other laptops.
-Uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere (via Creative cloud)
-Removed and re-added the users account.
-Attempted to run in safe mode. Couldn't get the application to startup.
Let me know if anymore information is needed.
    Thanks!

Now I would have come to the same conclusion as you cvid01, but the program has run on a laptop with even lower specs than the one I described. (It was a 6430 with lower specs. Also running the CC. Only one hard drive.) And other CC programs seem to run without issue. (InDesign, Photoshop).

  • FPGA LabVIEW 2011 Compilation Crash - I/O Node

When I try to compile this FPGA LabVIEW code then LabVIEW crash every during" Generating Intermediate Files"
It don't like these "FPGA I/O in" variables in FPGA I/O Node.
Constants "POT_net_1_x" are same standard DIOs.
    Hardware: PXI-7841R
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi JCC,
Glad you got it to compile, it may have been that LabVIEW got a corrupted file somewhere in the project that was causing an issue and by rewriting the code you bypassed this problem.
If the further problems relate to a problem with FPGA compilation then you could post them here, otherwise it is probably best to create a new thread with a title that relates to that problem, that way other people will know what the thread is about and it they know the answers or have suggestions they will help.
