  • Labview 3.1 serial number?

    Hello:
I have in a CD a very old version of labview 3.1 (fortunately, years ago I transferred all the diskettes I had - 3.5" and 5 1/4"- onto CDs and discarded all the diskettes), but I don´t find the serial number. I have tried all the combinations but no luck. What is the pattern of the serial number for labview 3.1?
    xnnnnn? (like A12345)
xnnxnnnnn? (like A12B12345, used in labview 6)
both examples doesn´t work in labview 3.1
    thanks

    Hi asensio,
why don't you call your local NI representatives and ask them for all legal/licensing issues?

  • Where do I get the serial number for my free LabView 7.1 student version?

I downloaded the free LabView 7.1 and it asks me for a serial number - how do I get it?

    Yes, I filled that out.
We're going to work with LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0 in an automation class, and we have one set of hardware. Someone lost the CD or something, but I would really like to use Labview 7.1 with that kit since it's the teacher's recommendation and I don't have 150$ to spare that easily at the moment.
I managed to install the software without the key. No idea where I go from here. Will I run into problems in the future with this constellation?

  • Finding the serial number for an installed copy of Labview 6.1

I have a copy of Labview 6.0 (Full Development System) and also Labview 6.1.  I was able to find the serial number label in the package for version 6.0, but not for 6.1.  I do have 6.1 installed and working on my workstation.  Is it possible to determined the serial number for an installed copy of LabView?
Would the serial number for version 6.1 be the same as the serial number for version 6.0 that I upgraded from?

That's what I expected, however the window that pops up when I select Help->About LabVIEW contains only the following information:
    LABVIEW 6.1
    TCP Server inactive
    Memory Allocated: 13296K
    Using unbound threads
Version 6.1f1 - Click in window to continue

  • Hide serial number from LabVIEW startup screen.

Is there any way to hide LabVIEW 2009 serial number from startup screen?
Corporate version, but every visitor can see it. Bad.

This goes along the same lines as this issue.
I would recommend you submit an idea to not show the activation code on the startup and about screens. I agree it is sufficient to show these only in the license manager.
I always struck me as odd to show the number on the startup screen. It is not needed there.
In the meantime, you might want to startup LabVIEW before the visitors arrive or before you hook up the projector and start the presentation.

Contact your local NI office. They would have a record of your serial numbers.

  • I'm using TestStand 1.0.3 and I have a requirement to pass the serial number to a VI from the user prompt in the Labview Operator Interface. Where can I reference this variable ?

    Runstate.Root.Locals.UUT.SerialNumber
Check the NI Web site for
"How do I Access the UUT Serial Number in My Sequence or Test Code?"
    at .....
    RESOURCE LIBRARY>TESTSTAND>SEQUENCE EXECUTION>GENERAL
    It states ...
At runtime, you can access the UUT serial number using Runstate.Root.Locals.UUT.SerialNumber. The serial number and UUTLoopIndex is a local variable of the default process model. Below is the definition for Runstate.Root. This is copied from Chapter 8 of the TestStand User Manual.
    Runstate.Root:
Sequence context for the root sequence invocation. If you initiate an execution using a process model entry point, the property is the sequence context for the process model entry point. For example, if you use an entry point from the default TestStand process model, the
Root property is the sequence context of the Test UUTs or the Single Pass sequence. If you initiate an execution on a sequence without using a process model entry point, the Root property object is the sequence context for the sequence you run.
When you are editing a sequence, the expression browser does not display the sub-properties of Runstate.Root because these properties are filled in at runtime. They are dynamic properties.

  • How to remove serial number from a PC?

    Hello,
I had previously activated some NI products on a PC using my serial number. Now, I'm transferring ownership of the PC to someone else, so I've deactivated the products. However, the serial number is still recorded somewhere in the PC: In the NI License Manager, when I select Activate -> Use a Web browser... it auto-fills the fields with my serial number.
How do I wipe this serial number from the PC?
    Thanks!

@uday: Yes, there are no more traces of the license files. I have NI License Manager 3.7. (But even though the license files are gone, my serial number remains)
@RavensFan: Because this is a brand new PC which forms part of a product I developed for a customer. I activated the Development versions of LabVIEW and TestStand for debugging purposes, just like this guy 5 years ago. Now I want to ship the system to the customer with LabVIEW RTE and the TestStand Base Deployment License in place, without undoing and redoing the work I've done on it.
Well, suppose I completely uninstall all NI software. I get the impression that if my customer decides to install their own copy of NI software on this PC, the first thing they'll see in the activation wizard is my serial number, which is stored somewhere in the PC. I'd like to find out where the serial number is stored, so that I can wipe it.

  • My MyDaq is not accepting the serial number it came with

I had to format my computer and am trying to reinstall the software. I have the CD and the MyDaq unit but not the Box. This installation process is rejecting the serial number on the unit. My unit has a ###A##A format serial number where A is a letter and # is a number. I know it should have an A#####... format. I called National Instruments and they told me to post on a forum, and here we are.

Just to avoid confusion, I think gaving meant the serial number. Typically they are in the format M##X#### (may be an extra or a lesser number in there). I assume you are trying to activate LabVIEW Student Edition? This White Paper may be helpful: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/14146/en/.

  • Serial Number in report name aswell as report body ?

    Hello
    I am fairly new to TS, I am using the Single Pass Execution entry point with a sequence I have written. I have written my own LabVIEW based Barcode Scanning Module for getting the DUT Serial Number from the user (As the Single Pass doesn't include this) I then write the output of this module to RunState.Root.Locals.UUT.SerialNumber and voila the Serial Number entered appears in the header of my report however the report name still says {No UUT Serial Number} {Time} {Date}
How can I get the S/N into the filename ?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Chris,
You can use the ReportOptions BaseName variable to contain the serial number that you want to appear in the report’s filename.  If you’re using the SinglePass execution, try copying the ReportOptions callback from the process model and placing it into your sequence. The default ReportOptions is blank so you can add your own method of obtaining the serial number from the DUT. Once you have the DUT S/N, copy it into the Parameters.ReportOptions.BaseName string so that it will appear in the filename. Copy the S/N into the variable, RunState.Root.Locals.UUT.SerialNumber to have it appear into the Report header.
Hope this helps, Please see the attached example TS3.1 sequence file.

  • How can i save my Test Stand report as the serial Number?

Hi, I'm using TestStand 3.0 and LabVIEW 7.0 I want to know how i can save my TestStand generated report as the UUT serial number. Thanks

    Hi arj,
Within the Report Option in the Report File Pathname Tab is a control 'New UUT Report File for Each UUT'. Enabling this will include the Serial number in the Report Filename. Unfortunately its formated into the filename as '[serial number]'.
This is done in a step in the Process Model - Test UUTs or Single Pass. This step is called 'Determine Report File Path' which is a dll call to a function in modelsupport2.dll. This returns the full pathname to the report and stores in Locals.ReportFilePath.
So you have the option either modify the Locals.ReportFilePath or modify the Function in modelsupport2.dll and rebuild the DLL.
    Hope this helps

  • Why use DVD install still need to type serial number

I download iwork 09 trial version and before expire, I order a DVD version.
after finish from DVD, still ask me to enter the serial number, why??

    Hi GovBob,
You do not need to do this with LabVIEW 2009 and TestStand 4.2.1. If you navigate to this location: C:\Documents and
    Settings\All Users\Documents\National Instruments\TestStand
4.2.1\AdapterSupport\LabVIEW you will see that there is  Default Values 90.llb folder already.

  • Problem writing Serial Number programatically and printing report

    Labview 8.5
    TS 4.0
I modified the my PreUUT sequnece to call a VI which enters a new Serial Number via a string control. This works fine.
The problem is this new SerialNumber does not seem to be accepted by TestStand and therefore does not print the reports for any executions.
(I get a "<no path>" error on the report header)
I'm using the same variables used in the standard PreUUT step.
I read a post about using RunState.Root.Locals.UUT.SerialNumber but this always causes a runtime error.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi kevmi2ca,
check out in your PreUut Sequence that "Paramters.Uut.Serialnumber" is set to your desired s-number.

  • Is it possible to get the serial number from external C++ code?

    Hi,
I have a C++ library called by a CLF in the LabVIEW RT from my cRIO. I am trying to use the cRIO serial number in my C++ code for licensing purposes. Is it possible to get the cRIO serial number using the C++ API?
I found information on how to do this from LabVIEW itself (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/74924FEE303440998625727D005197FA), but it would be really helpful to be able to do it from the C++ code.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi mkossmann,
Thanks for your suggestion. I have never used the VISA library from C++ or from LabVIEW, actually. I'm a newbie using NI hardware so sorry if the questions are too basic.
Is there documentation on the VISA library? I have found the DLLs on my windows machine, but I don't find any other documentation.
    Thanks,

  • How to programmatically get the serial number of DeviceNet card?

    I'm using LabVIEW 6.1 and NI-DAQ 6.9.3.
I notice that in MAX 4.0.2 the serial number of my PCI-DNET card comes up.  Is there some way I can access this programmatically in LabVIEW, either thru the DAQ driver or via the NI-DNET (version 1.4.1) LabVIEW driver?

Thanks!  That worked perfectly.  Another thing I'm attempting to do is programmatically retrieve the (device-specific) input/output lengths necessary for I/O connections.  I can get this of course using the Get DeviceNet Attribute.vi using classID 5, instance ID 2 (e.g.), attribute IDs 7 & 8.  However, this will work only AFTER the I/O connection has been opened; and to open the connection, I need to have this information!
SimpleWho appears to retrieve this info somehow (perhaps thru the CAN driver).  Any ideas on how I can mimic this behavior from within LabVIEW (versions above)?
    Thanks!
