Labview 7 Express performs Illegal Operation

Hi,
I have a Labview application to control a small diesel engine. The program runs and controls everything in the right way, but after about 5 hours of operation the program crashes and shuts down. As the program also controlls the throttle and dynamometer in the engine system, everything is shut down once the programs crashes. The error message that I get is in the attachment. Thank you very much for your help on this issue. Peter Perez

Peter,
This sounds like a memory access violation error.  A page fault is generated when errors occur while
moving pages in between your system memory and virtual memory.  What all is in your code?  Are you doing anything
with ActiveX?  Is the application an executable?  What hardware are you using?  Have you tried running this application on another computer?  What other software do you have on your system?  Is this
a very large application?  What are the specs of your system?  How much virtual memory have you allocated?
Just a few guiding questions that might help determine were this page fault is generated.
Thanks,
Nathan

It is critical when using ActiveX to control Excel that you close every Automation Reference used throughout your application in the reverse order in which they were created. If you don't, Excel will hang or crash.
If you create references to the Application, Workbook, Worksheet, Range and then a Cell, after you are done with the Cell, close the references to the Cell, Range, Worksheet, Workbook and Application. If you need access to the Worksheet later, keep the rest open until you are done with them.

  • A problem when install oracle personal 8i --"jrew perform illegal operation"?

seems something wrong. but i can't figure out.
can u please tell me how to correct it?

For me, I will stop all the Oracle's system services from <Administrative tools> <services>.
    And then,
    1. Delete all the Oracle's directories. if I have it on a seperate drive, format it.
    2. Go to registry editor by typint regedit /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ click on the ORACLE folder and delete it including sub-folder entries.
    3. Go to registry editor /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services find all the Oracle's system services and delete them.
    4. Remove the directory from C:\Programs Files\Oracle on Oracle's Inventory stuff etc ...
It is my fastest way to uninstall everything and start a fresh install.
I figure it out myself and it's not official to remove it. So, take it as your own risk (but, it should work).

  • CTplay2 has performed an illegal operation when trying to rip a track from a cd into Playcent

I have had Creative Playcenter for about three years with no problems until a week ago.
I was surfing the Internet and while on one webpage, I had the Playcenter
playing a playlist, the computer locked up after I tried to close a pop up ad. After rebooting, the Playcenter lost the list of tracks, it had the albums and artist lists, yet the track list showed "0". I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and reloaded
the tracks from the Nomad and now I am unable to rip tracks from cd's. I am able to convert existing wave files ripped from other cd ripping software yet cannot use the Creative Playcenter rip and convert feature without encountering this illegal operation message then it shuts it down. It's able to create the file where the mp3's are stored, but unable to tranfer the MP3 to it. No other changes have been made to my computer either. I just hope that I do not have to do a dreaded format and reinstall to fix this.
I really like this Creative product since I have had it have not had any problems with either the Nomad Jukebox or the software until the Internet surfing incident about a week ago

Also I forgot to mention in my first post, I have added some extra system sounds to my computer and that may have contributed to the problem of it freezing up at the time I clicked on the pop up ad in order to close it out. Some of the sounds activate during "restore up" and "minimize", the sounds or other Windows sounds do not activate while Playcenter is in use.

  • LEGO Mindstorms 2.0 crashes at startup when LabView Signal Express is installed first

When NI Circuit Design Suite Education Edition is installed first in a computer and the LEGO Mindstorms software second, the LEGO Mindstorms software doesn't work, it reports the following:
Error: A required file is broken
Possible Solutions: Reinstall the LEGO Mindstorms NXT Driver  (tried but doesn't work)
    Error code: 1003
    Ordinal not found
The ordinal 18 could not be located in the dynamic link library NIVISV32.dll
    Error loading "fantom.dll"
The operating system can not run %1
On other computers the LEGO software starts running, it displays part of the initial screen and then a small window opens saying that the Mindstorms software has has an error and that it will close. The previous report doesn't show.
If LabView Signal Express is uninstalled and then the LEGO software reinstalled, the LEGO software works.
I've dowloaded and installed new and old versions of the NIVISV32.dll and this doesn't correct the problem. I went as far as version 4.20 of the dll because it is dated in 2007 and the dll file installed by the LEGO software when it works is also dated 2007, but if I install the dll without uninstalling LabView Signal Express, the LEGO software continues not working.
Please advice how to correct this problem without having to uninstall LabView Signal Express first. If the LEGO software is installed first, is LabView Signal Express going to use and not to replace the old 2007 version of the dll installed by the LEGO software? Is there any LEGO software update that corrects this problem?
I repeat: I know a solution is to uninstall LabView Signal Express, install LEGO Mindstorms and then reinstall LabView Signal Express but I have 60 computers already cloned and deployed with this problem, so I don't want to go to this long process to fix the problem. The computers are using Windows 7 and problems happen on both the 32 and 64 bits versions of Windows 7.
    Any ideas???
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I couldn't reproduce the error either, but in our x86 computers this problem appeared after several months; we used LEGO Mindstorms last time in Summer 2011 without any problems and just three weeks ago when we were checking the computer for our Summer 2012 classes if when we noticed the problem. I’m still going to try to reproduce the error in an x64 computer where the problem appeared immediately.
Anyway, I’m attaching a word file with images of captured screens where you can see the error reports generated by LEGO Mindstorms and a series of steps uninstalling and reinstalling these program plus LabVIEW, until LEGO Mindstorms finally works after having uninstalled all traces of LabVIEW.
Images can be expanded and zoomed in to a better view of the details and if I can reproduce the problem in an x64 computer I’ll let you know.
Please see if you can find out something based on the images I’m sending.
    Thank you.

  • 9.0.124.0 Update - Firefox Illegal Operation

My system, Windows XP SP3, IE 7, Firefox 2.0 , Flash Player
9.0.124.0. After a recent Windows update which included SP3 I had
to install Flash Player latest version for IE7. The normal Flash
download and install wouldn't work. It caused IE7 to crash
repeatedly. Followed Adobe's online recommendations - uninstall and
redownload didn't work. Downgrading IE7 security to medium didn't
work. The Adobe Flash uninstall tool didn't work. Their final
online solution (which required several steps) regarding Windows
registry permissions was successful for IE7in my case: from the
    Adobe technote -
"Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that
prevent the Flash Player installation. For instruction on how to
run SubInACL to fix these permission issues please refer to
"Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that
prevent the Flash Player installation" (TechNote fb1634cb)."
Of course I was using Firefox 2.0 to do this online
troubleshooting (version info: latest version - Mozilla/5.0
    (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404
Firefox/2.0.0.14). Flash had always worked fine in Firefox
previously for me. Firefox is my preferred (default) browser. I use
IE7 only for a very few Microsoft and other sites that
display/download correctly only via IE7 (including Microsft
Update). Now following the suggested IE7 fix, my Firefox
    Flashplayer plugin is broken.
When I first opened Firefox after the IE7 fix, any pages with
Flash reported the missing plugin message. Using the Firefox
"Install missing plugins" feature tried to install the Flash Player
Plugin but failed. Visiting the Adobe website and following the
download and install Flash Player instructions with Firefox seemed
to work. The Flash plugin reported successful install. Now visiting
almost any Flash enabled website in Firefox results in this Firefox
    error message -
"Shockwave flash: The plugin has performed an illegal operation.
You are strongly advised to restart Firefox"
Now uninstalling and re-installing Flashplayer are not
working for Firefox. Searching the forums here doesn't give any
recent instance of this error message for version 9.0.124.0 (that I
can find anyway...) that seem pertinent. I need to get Adobe Flash
Player working with Firefox 2.0 again. Any help appreciated.
    - note - don't use any 3rd party pop-up blockers etc. Do use
anti-virus AVG 8.0 Free (disabled for installs/uninstalls) with
their LinkScanner tool disabled. thx - Andy

  • Illegal Operation when attempting to define a DIM Source/Target for Essbase

We have installed the Hyperion DIM adapter and got past errors finding HASClient.dll when starting Designer.
In Workflow we have defined a data source for Essbase. When attempting to define a new source from 'Hyperion Essbase'. The application pops up an error dialogue stating that HASClient.dll has performed an illegal operation.
Have double checked the environment variables and they look OK. Anyone any idea what might have gone wrong? We already have Hyperion Planning adapters running fine, it's just the Essbase adapters giving problems.

We solved the problem by reviewing and correcting some environment variables that had been wrongly adjusted on previous product installs.
We stripped back the environment variables and then built new ones in line with the [DIM 11.1.1.2 Installation Instructions|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/dim_11111_install.pdf]

  • Illegal operation after open MS Word

I use activeX to open a MS Word with my document. After Word opened my document, I manually review my document and manually click File-Print. I get illegal operation issue.
    1. I already close the ActiveX refence to MS Word in my labview program.
    2. but if I don't close the ActiveX reference, will this cause some issues later, what if I manually review, print and manually exit/close MS Word, will my ActiveX reference in LabView close by itself?

    Hi,
Could you post your VI that you use? I created a simple VI that just opens a Word document. I couldn't reproduce the error. Do you get the Print window to open at all? Does LabVIEW report any errors in the error handlers?
The attached VI was created with LabVIEW 6i.

  • Illegal operation occures running a 'Write Digital Line' vi in Test Executive

I'm switching a single line of a PCI DIO 96.

    Hi,
I have a PC set up with Labview 5 and Test executive 5.1. I'm trying to create a vi that can be run in test exec that will allow me to control any of the DIO lines of a PCI DIO 96. When I put the vi in a sequence and try to exit the edit screen the Test exec stops and an 'illegal operation' window appears.
I have also tryed this with the DIO example that comes with labview 'Write 1 point to digital line.vi' and the same occurs.
I hope this explains it better.
    Many thanks

  • Illegal Operation in Windows

I recently installed the J2SDK onto my machine at home (which runs windows ME). On occasion, I'll get an Illegal operation whenever I perform a javac or a java in my DOS window, (Fault Location: 0500:0681). Once this happens, I can't run either of those until I restart my computer.
I've installed the J2SDK on a few machines before (linux and Windows 98) and have never had such problems. Any quick fixes?
    Thanks in advance.

Stick to Windows 98 - it sounds like you have a copy. The OEM guys in the city I live in almost universally suggest 98 over ME, and in most cases spend quite a bit of effort talking customers into spending less money in their store, because they know that ME will cause more issues than the sale is worth.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 The delegates settings were not saved correctly. Cannot activate Send-on-behalf-of list. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object.

I am trying to assign delegation to a user and I receive the following message.
The delegates settings were not saved correctly.  Cannot activate Send-on-behalf-of list.  You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object.
We are using 2010 for the server and client.  There are only specific mailboxes that this is happening for after being migrated from Lotus Notes.  The user can use their mailfile fine however it is just the delegation that appears corrupted somehow.
I'm not sure how to fix this.  I have checked the access through the security tab in ad and that looks fine.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I did some more digging and I solved it.
    This would be the solution:
In Active Directory Users and Computers
    -Click on VIEW
-Click on ADVANCE FEATURES  (this is important otherwise you won't see
the complete list in the next steps)
    -Click on the USERS container
    -Find the problem user's account
-Right mouse the account and click on PROPERTIES
    -Click on the SECURITY tab
-In the top box, click on the SELF account
-In the bottom portion of the screen make sure the READ PERSONAL
INFORMATION  & WRITE PERSONAL INFORMATION  should both be checked for
    ALLOW
If you can compare the permissions for 'SELF' with another user you probably should set them accordingly to be safe. I noticed that for the user where setting delegates (SOB) did
not work, more than those 2 permissions were missing.
    Good luck!
    David

  • How can i measure only the valley voltages of a sine wave in labview 7 express evaluation version?

I am trying to convince my company to send me to purchase labview and send me to classes for labview.
I am trying to put together a small demo for them using the Labview 7 express evaluatin copy that I recieved.
What I am wondering is how can filter out everything besides the valley peaks on a sine wave.
What I am trying to accomplish, is create an example showing that Labview can sameple from a sine wave, read about 5 "valley" points of the wave, evaluate these based on a value that i can define, and signal pass or fail.

    Hi,
I built a VI using LabVIEW 7.0 that detects the valleys in a sine wave. It uses the 'Peak detector' VI that I believe is available in the evaluation version.
(Functions palette >> All Functions >> Analyze >> Signal Processing >> Time Domain >> Peak Detector)
I have attached a VI as well as the screen shots its front panel and block diagram.
    I hope this helps.

    Hi,
You can login as system using SQLPlus and use the DBMS_SYSTEM.set_sql_trace_in_session procedure to set trace on another Discoverer session. This should establish if there is any database error occuring in the Discoverer session.
