Labview 8.5 exe appearance location

hi all, after i make my labview to exe file, when click the exe, the program will appear on the screen but not in the middle of the screen? how to manually set up the appearance of the exe file so that it will appear on the location i set (i.e. top left corner, right side, bottom or random place on the screen).
another question: is it possible to remove the title bar and the 'X' button of the labview exe form? hi all, after i make my labview to exe file, when click the exe, the program will appear on the screen but not in the middle of the screen? how to manually set up the appearance of the exe file so that it will appear on the location i set (i.e. top left corner, right side, bottom or random place on the screen). another question: is it possible to remove the title bar and the 'X' button of the labview exe form?

These are all settable from VI Properties. Go there and select 'Window Run-Time Position' and 'Window Appearance>Customize'.
p.s. What is a LabVIEW exe 'form'? LabVIEW has a front panel. VB uses forms.

  • LabVIEW 8.2 -- "unable to locate LabView run-time" error message

I am trying to run a LabVIEW version 8 exe file and keep getting the
"Unable to locate" error. I downloaded LabVIEW_8.2_Runtime_Engine.exe
from the NI website and installed the entire contents of the
distribution. After getting the error, I have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling several times, with the same result.
Is there some way I can troubleshoot this? Is there a configuration
file or a registry entry I can check to see where LabVIEW is looking
    for the run-time?

    Michael,
As Dennis said you need to make sure the version of the Runtime Engine matches the version of LabVIEW the executable was created with.
You can find different versions of the Runtime Engine on our webpage here.

  • When using Teststand, how do I prevent the LABView splash screen from appearing?

It comes up even if I have the "Don't show this screen" checked !

I'm excited to see TestStand is a celbrity product.
Typically when you run a sequence in TestStand, LabVIEW is launched by TestStand when the sequence contains steps that use the LV adapter. In this case LV is launched through its ActiveX interface and the LV splash screen is suppressed. This is in contrast to launching LabVIEW manually in which case the LV splash screen will be displayed.
In your case I'm not sure how LV is being launched. You might want to shut down LV and then run your sequence to see if the splash screen is then suppressed.
You may also want to read NI Knowledgebase article 28MEPUXL, "Why Does the LabVIEW Startup Screen Appear When Using the Dialog Box Function from Within My VI?". In this case LV has been opened manually and not be Test
Stand, such that the splash screen is not suppressed.

Is it possible to convert VI file into .exe file? How to go about doing it?

    hi
you simply need to use the application builder - included in LabVIEW professional version or you buy this tool separately.
Remark: On target machine the Run time engine (for free) has to be installed.

  • Labview NI-Daqmx can't locate my Daq board

Im using a MicroDaq USB 1208LS, and am attemtping to monitor a pressure sensitive resistor using the "continuous measurement and logging" premade .Vi in labview. However the program doesn't recognize / can't locate the daq, even though both instacal and tracer daq can. Any help?

DAQmx is only for NI boards so your device is not supposed to be recognized. You would have to rewrite the example and replace all DAQmx functions.

  • Can labview produce a .exe that will run on PocketPC or WindowsCE?

Can labview applications be built into an executable program which will run on PocketPC or WindowsCE operating systems? If not, can source code be generated which can be compiled for these operating systems?

You should be aware that the PDA module does not support many features which are available in the desktop version of LV. Try reading the documentation available on this site. If you want this, I suggest you wait for version 8, which appears to be much better in some areas.

  • Symantec antivirus & LabVIEW 7.1 exe's

Anyone know of any conflicts with LV 7.1 exe's & Symantec AntiVirus Corporate 10.1.4.4000 on Win2k (and possibly XP)?
Soon after we installed the antivirus update, LV7.1. executables began
locking up the system when they tried to access a file.  Some of
the system is still responsive (you can view the system processes, for
example), but when you give a command nothing happens (restart, for
instance, doesn't work).  The processor monitor shows 99% idle...
almost like both the AV and LV are waiting for something.  The
computer must be hard booted to restore it.
While I'll be working on downgrading the antivirus, any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe Z.

Thanks Ben, I wish you could too!  Given my druthers, I'd be working on a tree class structure in 8.20... maybe someday
Tunde, check the attachments.  No relative file pathing functions, or really much of anything else.
A quick test shows that running from the
    Start>>Run>>H:\bugcheck71.exe (for instance) exhibits the
same behavior as any other method.  Once, it even locked up before
    rendering the front panel.
It may very well be my (relatively standard) Windows network.  It has many of the hallmarks of a deadlock timing issue.
To reproduce the behavior in the executable, you may have to rebuild it to suit your particular network mappings.
    1.  Open the bugcheck71.vi file.
    2.  Set the file control path to a mapped network location.  (It's currently set to select a directory.)
    3.  Set the file control path to default to that location, save, and exit the vi.
    4.  Build the VI into an executable.
    5.  Copy the vi to a mapped drive location.
    6.  (The hard part) Run the vi on a machine with the Symantec 10.1.4.4000 antivirus client, scan engine 61.2.1.10.
    7.  Click the browse button.
As I've said, I don't see it on every machine, just most of them.
Symantec shows that earlier antivirus clients could cause tcp/ip issues
through the antivirus mail client snap in, which our IS is likely to have
included.  Does the exe make any tcp/ip connections that the dev
environment does not, or in a different way?

  • Auto install flash player to the client where the flash.exe was located on serve

    Good day!
I created an intranet site for the company and it is on the server, so the staff can view it. My webpage consist of flash for the viewing of images. The problem is the client who can view my webpage has no flash installer or totally no flash installed on their computer. Actually I have a flash.exe or flash installer in my server. I want to happen is when they view my webpage there is a pop up message for the auto install of flash installer and once they click automatically the flash would be installed. I mean the location of installer in the server they can catch? Is it possible?
Honestly, I have no idea about it. I have a lot of idea and questions in my mind on how the client can have the installer through pop up or any way.
    Thank you

It is definitely not something you can do with Flash Player; especially when the Player is not even installed on the client side.
You will need to do something with Flash or ActionScript, so you better ask in the Flash or ActionScript forum.

The right corner of the Task Bar is called System Tray.
This can be done with G Toolbox -> Systray Icon VIs:

  • Labview vi controls not appearing during Teststand Editor run time

    Hi,
    I'm running established sequences (TS3.5) and vi's (LV8.2) in Teststand 4.2 and Labview 2009.
During sequence execution in the Editor environment, vi's are called which display simple yes/no
    user controls.
I am finding that when the Labview step is called the controls are only appearing briefly, if at all.
The execution appears to have entered Labview waiting for a control to be operated, but
the only way forward seems to be termination of the sequence.
On termination, the controls immediately appear allowing selection, but on doing so the sequence
    does terminate normally.
There are 2 vi's, the 1st is called early and has only shown this problem rarely,
but the 2nd called later in the sequence always displays this problem.
Another vi which displays a progress bar, executes in a separate thread without problems.
We also notice that the additional task on the task bar does not appear as normal when
    the vi's are called.
Any ideas why the controls are not displayed until sequence termination, please ?
    thanks,
    Gary.

Make sure you are checking the "Show Front Panel" checkbox on the Module specification panel. Not having that checked is the most likely explanation.
    Hope this helps,

  • Labview as recorder.exe

Do you remember from ancient times, the Win3.1, program -
    recorder.exe.
This file records the movements of the mouse and key pressed and
be able to do the same later on demand.
Can Labview control other applications while it is hidden and
other applications are "on top". Another words if it is possible
to emulate mouse and keyboard by Labview to be visible from
another applications as a normal operator work.
    E.g.. (dummy) I have a CD-player and I want Labview to press
"start" button in this program every one hour. This is not real
example but this is what I would like to know.
thank you for help in advance
    PP

This would be an interesting application! In order to control external applications, such as the CD player example you used, you would need to use ActiveX controls. You would need an ActiveX control for each application you want to control from LabVIEW. Now, one thing about ActiveX is that LabVIEW must open up the applications through ActiveX. In other words, you can not open Microsoft Word yourself and then have LabVIEW control that instance of it.
You would need to create a program which simulates certain clicks and selections and then run this program each time you want them to occur. Or, you could also put the VIs in a loop and have it run 24 hours, although this may consume needed processor power.
LabVIEW can simulate keyboard events. I am atta
ching a VI from the National Instruments website which shows how this is done. You may want to take a look at this.
Basically, what you are wanting to do is create "macros." They "record" actions that a user makes on their computer and then are able to "replay" these actions at later times. There are actually software packages that do this and they would be much easier to do that using LabVIEW to build your own. Here is an example of one. You may want to check these out because it sounds like this is what you are wanting to do.
