Labview and student-prices

i started using labVIEW about 5 months ago in order to made a program to
control a philips xl30 sem microscope (with labview 4.0 on win31) and
another to register the subpics taken from the sem to build large-size
images (in labview 5.1 on win95).
i study computer engeneering on university of modena (italy) while my thesis
stage (with socrates european project) is held at the institute of material
research IMO in diepenbeek (belgium)
i am really entusiast about labview and how is made, i think also is a very
fast tool for prototyping programs that maybe for performance reasons have
to be developed with other languages; concepts like modularity and
code-reuse seems very easy to reach respect many other languages (i mean
usually is
not so easy just take program parts from other sources and put
everything togheter in a short time).
since i would love to experiment labview programming for my personal fun i
am interested to know if for commercial packages like the internet-toolkit
are avaible special student prices.

"Unable to link to external code via DLLs and Code Interface Nodes"
i don't care about microsoft-only technology but since student edition has
NO POSSIBILITY to link code from outside i think you loose everything
(suppose you have a free 32bit .dll that do a lots of beautiful things, it's
very easy to integrate good and FAST code in a labVIEW program so you can
always have critical stuff made by fast code and still make 90% of your
program in plain G).
it's good for student to learn labVIEW but i think in this case it's good
for university and not single persons.
from the faq you get that "LVSE will work only with Nationa
l Instruments
hardware" , this seems more a move like 'we want university buy OUR HARDWARE
to train students' that a way to give a cheap labview
anyway the product is great and it's the reason i would love to use it for
have fun while programming...but i think that at 495$ the internet toolkit
is too expensive for me
i have also see that it's impossible to buy a linux student edition of
labview while it's possible the academic contract..maybe ni think that every
student have to run windows at home ?

  • Labview 2010 Student Edition, will it work with the Labview FPGA module and Xilinx Spartan 3E??

    Just as the title states.
I did a search here on compatibility, but I am coming up short with not much to show for it.
I have Labview 2010 student edition, 32bit and 64 bit. I am trying to do a Senior Design project for my undergrad, and I am having some issues.
I was able to download the Support for the Xilinx Spartan 3E and Labview FPGA.
I install it, it runs through the unzipping process, installs, and then mysteriously I cannot find it. I have looked through my programs list and it is not listed. I open both editions of LabView and I find ABSOLUTELY NOTHING indicating that either one has ANYTHING to do with FPGA.
Did I install it wrong? Or is it just not supported in the studend version of Labview???
    Can someone help me, please?

What about the trial version? Any chance of it being on there?
I think everything is available for download, and without activation it will be in trial mode and you have about a month (?) before the trial expires.
A trial version of the FPGA module is available for download here. I have no idea if it would work with the student version.
I would recommend to talk to your local NI sales representative for advice. Good luck.

Carine17088327 which Student and Teacher edition are you referring to?  This forum is primarily regarding perpetual version of Adobe Creative software which included a discount for education users.

  • Application Builder and Student Edition

In Labview 8, student edition where do I go to install application builder?  I suppose its not part of a standard install because I don't think I have it.
Message Edited by Adma on 02-18-2006 10:12 PM

    Ahhh, interesting!
The application builder is not free. ( List price is $995 per installation)
It is not clear what kind of educational discount you can get for it, because the academic discount for add-on and toolkits specifically excludes the application builder. I am sure your NI rep has more details. In any case, LabVIEW is only supported on newer versions of windows, so if these computers are really old (e.g. Windows 98 or ME) you're out of luck anyway.
Well, the project has to be doable so talk it over with the professor.

  • Please Help!!! VIPM won't connect to labview and I need to figure out why

I am trying to download the Arduino package from the VIPM and they won't seem to connect. I have included a picture of the error and two more of my settings. I am using the student evaluation of the Labview software, but I'm not sure that it is what's causing the problems. Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to set up a nice GUI using labview and an arduino as my DAQ device. I need this for a project for my professors so I am rather desperate to get it up and running.

  • How to download LabVIEW 11 Student Edition for OS X

I received my activation number for LabVIEW 11 Student Edition by email for participating in an online lecture and solving a problem.
In the email there was no link to download the software.
Where can I find a download link for LabVIEW 11 Student Edition for OS X?

    Hi,
I will try to go through it with you and I believe we will find a solution.
The 2011 version of LabVIEW for OS X is no longer available from this link, a new version was released in the meantime. First I'd like to try to get a new version to you. Can you please check whether you can't get the serial number for the new version as well? Usually these student versions are available for free.
In the worst case I will upload you the old installer on the FTP.

  • LabVIEW 2011 Student Edition on Mac Installation

    Hi
I installed LabVIEW 2011 Student edition on my Mac with the OS Mac OSX Version 10.7.1 Lion edition.
At first it wouldn't install (I had installation failure because Lion OSX is 64 bit and not 32)
I used the intructions as demonstrated in the link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3773
as I found in the forum thread of:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Installing-LabVIEW-2011-for-Mac-OS-X-10-7-Lion-fails/m-p/1653742?req...
After I changed to 32 bit, the apple terminal warned me by doing so I wouldn't be able to save stuff correctly.
The software installed after I used the directions for 32 bit mode, but for some reason it did not say I was in 32 bit mode on the Apple activity monitor, it said 64 bit.
I went to the terminal and used the instructions to turn the operating system into 64 bit (even though it already say it was in 64 bit, despite LabVIEW installing, which requires 32 bit). I rebooted the computer, and I was able to use LabVIEW 2011.
    My question:
Once LabVIEW 2011 Mac student edition is installed in 32 bit mode, can it be operated when the computer is in 64 bit mode?
    thanks

    Hi JoeGanser,
Booting your Mac into OSX 64 bit should still enable LabVIEW to run, even though it is a 32 bit program. You will encounter problems however when using NI-DAQmx Base, NI-VISA or NI-488.2 drivers while running in 64 bit mode.
I have found a KnowledgeBase Article, which explains why this is the case.
Please let me know if that answers your question, please post back if you have further questions.

  • Labview and multicore technology

    Greetings
the scenario that i'm having now is as following:
    - I'm a 1st year PhD student, and am trying to figure out(find) a new, innovative and impressive project in wireless communications systems area. while am doing my literature review and exploring my favorit knowledge base www.ni.com website ,by chance, i read some titles about the new Multicore tech.then, after surfing most ni's webcasts i got many ideas on how to exploit this tech. together with LabVIEW to boost up my yet-undefined PhD wireless com.main project.in other words,i want to speed-up any existing wireless technology (e.g beamforming algorithms of smart antennas). However, while i met my supervisor i did for him a quick demo and he was wondering about which wireless topic we can make use of multicore tech together with labview,i suggested him {improving wireless systems using multicore tech. and labview coding}.But, a class A student told us that that multithreading problems of multicore tech. have already been solved by software giants, and nothing special about using labview to design parallel processing as many other text-based langauges can do the same,as their compilers already designed for multicore systems.I get depressed actually after he told me this.becuase am intending to use labview (my most favorit software with multicore tech to simulate the performance of a wireless system, and publish a paper about this topic.
in short gentle men, i wish u guide me and tell me anything related to multicore tech with labview.any new problem you want to simulate it using labview so that i can work on it using labview.and please try to refer me to the latest updates about multicore and latest webcast as i saw almost all webcasts now available on ni website. and suggestion, any feed back, any new PhD research idea.all welcomed and appreciated.
    thanks a lot
please help to find something related to wireless, anything new for research.....please

Why not do a project using Labview to create different models of wireless technologies, and create simulations toevaluate their potential performance.  The benefit of multi-core programming would be to optimize the speed to which you canrun simulations of the models.  For instance, you can include spectral analysis using LabVIEW.
An idea would be to do the above for RAKE receivers or Software Defined Radios.  There are many things you can research and investigate using LabVIEW.  You can create the hardware and compare physical to the model.  There are lots of project ideas in this area.

  • Labview 2009 Student Edition Vista x64 installation fail, no error messages though

I am trying to install a copy of the LabView 2009 student edition and everytime the installation initializes, the modules fail to install for every single module.  There is also no error message.
I got a message that LabView may not be working correctly due to Windows Firewall, which I have disabled. That message referred me to ni.com/info, code expm69.
Let me know, I'm a little confused as to what's going on.  Would it be due to a patch or what not?
    Thanks!

    Hi imagineerme,
Regarding your installation issues, a possible cause may be that you don't have permissions on the computer that you are installing. Are you set as the administrator on this computer? Is this a school computer or your own?
It's also possible that LabVIEW may be installed on your computer already. To check this, go to Program Files/National Instruments to see what you already have installed.
If neither of these are the cause, can you please provide me with more information about your installation? Does the installer crash or just go straight to the finish screen? Does anything install at all? Thanks and best of luck,

  • Controlling a chemical process with LabVIEW and the SC 2075 board

    Hi,
I am a degree student and one of my projects is to control a chemical process using LabVIEW and the SC2075 board. The process variables i must control are temperature, pH and also several motor. Is this viable using the SC 2075 board and if so does anyone know where i can attain information on using the board. Also if anyone has suitable sample vi's that may be of use to me it would be very much appreciated. My email is [email protected]
    Kind Regards,
    Derek

    Hi Derek,
Bellow is a link the the user guide for the 2075.

You should be able to aquire data from you sensors but you might need some signal conditioning depening on the voltage levels they return.
For sample vi's try going to Help>>Find Examples... within LabVIEW or goto the following link to search our developer exachange.

  • Who is eligible to use the Labview 8 student edition?

Who is eligible to use the Labview 8 student edition? Can an individual who is not in school or affiliated with a learning institution purchase and register it for the purpose of learning at home?

    LabTech wrote:
Maybe I'm missing something, but I still am not sure of the answer to my question about the Student Edition . Maybe it hinges on what the word staff means in this case?
I would interpret "staff" in the most general case. If you are employed by an educational institution, and not student or faculty, your'e probably "staff".
The main restriction on the student edition is in its use. You can only use it for personal educational use and not for research. For research in a lab, you need to get the real LabVIEW. See e.g. point #4 in the FAQ: http://www.ni.com/labviewse/labviewse_faq.htm ).
Still, the educational discounts are great (75% on single copy software: http://www.ni.com/academic/edu_dsct.htm ).

  • Student-Price for After Effects

Hello, my name is Mika Paysen and i´m eleven years old. I am making small films and i searched for a program to edit my movies. A professional told me that Adobe After Effects is a really good program. But i have a question, is there a student-price for only After Effects??? Please answere me!!! Email: [email protected]

It's not that bad, actually. You don't really want to edit with After Effects. After Effects is not made for editing. It is made for adding visual effects, creating motion graphics, and doing compositing. Premiere is the program you want to edit.
Most people shoot their movie, edit in Premiere, then do their visual effects in After Effects, then use the Adobe Media Encoder to make the final file.

  • Will the ELVIS board work with LabVIEW 2010 Student Edition?

I recently acquired a traditional ELVIS board (with the PCI DAQ board). So far I've only installed the evaluation for LabVIEW 2010 (x64), and when I attempt to install the ELVIS Traditional 3.0.5 software I get the following message: "This installer requires LabVIEW 8.5 Full Development system or later to be present on this computer. LabVIEW Base Development System in any version of LabVIEW is not supported. Please install LabVIEW and then run the NI ELVIS installer again."
I am eligible to purchase a student license for LabVIEW 2010 and would like to know if the ELVIS Traditional 3.0.5 software will install after I've acquired a student license.
