  • Small Company looking for a LabVIEW consultant (remote consultant welcome)

    Hello,
We are a small company looking for a LabVIEW consultant.  This is about a 3-6 month project.  The consultant must be familiar with NI hardware product as well.  Please send me your resume/CV.  In your email please state the following: years of experience, educational background, your hourly requirements, your location, and the amount of time you will be able to provide.
Please removes spaces on the email below.
    int e g r at e d devi c e s @ yah oo. c o m

I'm not sure if this is frequent on the NI forums, since I believe NI validates user information prior to issuing an account that allows them to post to the forum.  But usernames (like mine) don't provide immediate identifications; you have to ask for it.
Apparently Job Scams have become more frequent.  See the list of tips on the following site, (I have no relationship with this site.  It just came up in a google search).

5 Steps to Take Before Applying for a Job
    1. Email - the company to get information about the job. Do not provide any personal information to them upfront.
    2. Phone - speak to an official at the company and ask about the job. Be assured that it is legitimate.
    3. Meet - at the company site to assure it is a real company. If you cannot meet, and the company is in your town, drive by to see the facility, (possibly using google maps to view the site).
    4. Verify - see if you can find a person who has worked at the company or call a Chamber of Commerce of Better Business Bureau to assure the legitimacy of the company. Search online for legitimate information about the company, search online for any complaints of non-legitimacy.  State Entity sites typically have the name of the company and how long they have been in business.
    5. Apply - once you are assured the company is legitimate, it is safe to apply; but you should still not supply highly personal information like bank accounts until you are officially hired.

  • LabVIEW consultant required in Ballarat, Australia

I have an automotive test machine running a LabVIEW interface, controlled by a NI acquisition card.
It would be polite to describe the machine as "legacy". The entire machine is dinosaur era. The NI / LabVIEW upgrade was done in-house by somebody long since departed. The hardware belongs in a museum and the control PC has been running on borrowed time for at least a decade.
I need an experienced LabVIEW consultant to bring the machine back up to date; replace hardware with current supported models, and update software to suit.
Any local (ie Melbourne) LabVIEW contractors should drop me a line at [email protected], or call me on 03 5327 0318 to discuss.
    Thanks,
    Tim

  • How can i develop a custom Printer driver in LabVIEW

I have one application in which when ever user prints a document (He will print only certain type of documents)
it should get printed using some standard printer but at the same time the data should get communicated to our own custom device which is connected to the PC using serial port.
    how can i do this.
I think if we can develop a our own driver which will first send data to serial device and then just call the standard printers driver then whole problem can be resolved
The application will run on windows platform and the data i am expecting is purely a text data.

I think i have not explained my problem properly. i am sorry for that.
the problem is something like this.
my end user is already having one program which is generating the data (Unfortunately that program do not save data to any file and our requirement is online updatation of data) which i want to give to my serial device. he dont have the source code hence we can not alter that perticular code. the data might be available to us only when he prints the data, where we can select any one of installled printers.
hence we want to develop an application which will appear as printer driver to windows and when user prints we can capture printed data
i think problem will be clear now.

  • How to create custom project in LabVIEW 8

We can create VIs from the template in similar fashion i want to create a perticular folder hierarchy and copy some common VIs in perticular locations when i create  a new project. as in 7.1(or even in 8) we had option to create blank VI or VI from template, is there any option to blank project or project from template.
If this feature is not readily available then can i develop a tool which can do the job? How?

    Hello!
You can do more than just creating a blank project with the
VI server -- check out the example "Add files to project" from the NI
Example Finder (help->find examples->new to lv 8->general).  The
other post was correct though -- it is just an XML file that you can manipulate
    how you choose.
    Hope it helps!

  • Labview app wont run on fresh reboot unless MAX is started.

I am a Labview NOOB. I am the only IT here and started about a year ago and basically got thrown into the "labview" with 0 labview experience.I had to take an xp machine and turn it into a win 7 machine.
Here's some specs: labview 8.2 32bit running on windows 7 32 bit with IO libraries 16. Driving a gpip to usb 34970A data aquisition unit and a temperature compensation oven. Heres the situation. When i restart the PC my "temp_comp.exe"(application that labview consultant wrote) will not run. I get a few errors One as soon as i start the app: "oven Communication Fault" and one when i try to run the oven with shortened testing times and temp:
error 107387202 occurred at visa close in HP34970A close.vi-
34970A_read.vi>measure oven temp.vi->wait for oven to reach temp vi-
    a comp loop.vi - a test loop sequence.vi>main temp comp.vi
Possible reasons VISA: hex 0xbfff009e a code library required by VISA could not be located or loaded.
I have reformatted a machine with xp and was able to get this running fine.
So here's the kicker. If i open up MAX and expand the devices and interfaces tree the program works fine and dandy. no errors. I have ran 3 batches in the oven over night with no problems. I figured i would just do an easy work around and have the max program start during startup but i have to manually expand the devices and interfaces tree before it will work.
Any ideas will be super helpfull Cheers!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It never ceases to amaze me what managers think is possible.  It would be difficult for even an experienced LabVIEW programmer to port a LabVIEW app from XP to Windows 7 using a version of LabVIEW not supported on the operating system.  Tell them you'll see them in a few months.
I ran into an issue once where a vendor's Win7 dll had different default settings than the priginal and we couldn't figure out why we couldn't communicate with the I/O card.  Seems that they inverted the address bits as default.  Of course, there was no documantation on the change - unless you count the source code itself.
It was an intentional change which would make sense if you were someone who bought a new card and never used the old dll before.  But guess what?  The card was already obsolte/unsupported, so there AREN'T GOING TO BE ANY NEW USERS!
