Labview crashes when copying .lnk files
COPY - Labview 6.1 copy vi which will copy a file
from my source to my destination unless it ends in ".lnk"... (not on all systems crash, even though they are all running windows98)...help ???
I also encountered problems when tring to change the read-only attribute of a lnk file with LabVIEW 6i.
I suspect that LabVIEW tries to resolve the link before the operation.
A quick workaround might be to rename the file before copying but I'm not sure if the OS allows to change a lnk extension. It can't be done manually.
Fill a bug report to NI.

Labview crashes when opening a file
I have a simple vi whos purpose is to build a set of custom labview applications. At some points the .vi gets corrupted (with no ryme or reason). After the vi get corrupted it will no longer open in labview and the following error shows up in the windows event viewer. Note that any other vi will open ok after this happens. Any ideas on what is happening with the .vi in question?
LabVIEW information: Error: 404 "Not Found" for "national instruments/labview/ni example finder/1.0/niexamplefinderserver", file "c:/program files (x86)/national instruments/shared/ni webserver/www/national instruments/labview/ni example finder/1.0/niexamplefinderserver": Can't access URL .

BuildCreator.vi 16 KB
CreateLogFile.vi 11 KBVery simple. It is doing what you told it to do.
The BuildCreator.vi is set to Run when Opened. When it runs, the last thing it does is to Quit LabVIEW.
So what can you do about this? Open a new VI. Place Build Creator.vi on the block diagram like a subVI. Then open that subVI. It will open in edit mode.

CC Crashing when copy / saving files to the network
Example crash report below from a very active user of CC in our photo editing suite. He claims the crashes are random and there is no pattern.
This can be opening the first file of the day, or the thousandth.
I have removed all the plug-ins - this didn’t fix things I am still getting freezes
I then deativated GPGPU – still having the same problem
I have looked to remove possible fonts that may be bad – removed font cache – still the same problem
I am running out of things to try…
Can you advice anything else I can try to fix this problem – its becoming very tedious and I am constantly losing work and having to remake it..

Labview crashes when creating large image files
I have a problem with Labview 6.0.2( I've tested evaluation version 7.0 too).
I'm constructing a very large image, for example: 4500x4500 pixels. Labview crashes when converting the pixture to a pixmap. The image is fully constructed on my screen (in a picture control), but when converting it to a pixmap (for saving the image in a known format (bmp, jpg, tiff)), Labview crashes.
I did some testing and when the number of pixels exceeded the limit of 2^24(16777216), the file 'image.cpp' crashes on line 1570. The vi to convert it to a pixmap is: P'icture to pixmap.vi'
Does someone know a workaround for this problem? Or is there a fix for it?
Thank you!I've tested the 6i version of my VI in Labview 7.0 evalutation version. It raised an error but not the same error:
d:\lvworm\src\lvsource\compatexport.cpp(37) : DAbort: Called a routine not in the compatibility LVRT table
$Id: //labview/branches/Wormhole/dev/lvsource/compatexport.cpp#11 $
0x004BD4CB - LabVIEW_Eval + 0
0x0EB710D9 - lvs248 + 0
0x094C87A0 - + 0
So i replaced the picture VI's with the 7.0 evalutation version VI's, and it worked. It is now possible for me to construct very large image files!
I see no attached VI to test. But i guess it is also solved in Labview 7.0
I used this file to convert the picture to image data:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0 Evaluation\vi.lib
\picture\pictutil.llb\Picture to Pixmap.vi
And this file to convert image data to bmp:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0 Evaluation\vi.lib\picture\bmp.llb\Write BMP File.vi
I guess i have to write a workaround for this problem:
divide the picture in blocks of 4096 x 4096 and then merge the image data arrays of the bloks together. -
Work is lost after illustrator freezes and then crashes when copying over to photoshop
work is lost after illustrator freezes and then crashes when copying items over to photoshop, then when re-opening the illustrator file it gets to the end of reading the file to open then quits again? this keeps happening!
afrill,
It seems that you file has become corrupted.
One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way.
Here is a website where you can see whether it can rescue the file, and if it can, you may pay for a subscription to have it done,
http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/buy_illustrator.html
and another similar website,
http://markzware.com/adobe-software/fix-illustrator-file-unknown-error -occurred-pdf2dtp-file-recovery/
As far as I remember, the former is for Win and the latter for Mac.
Here are a few pages about struggling with it yourself:

Hello
There is a bug in Mac InDesign CS4 and CS5 which causes InDesign to crash if text containing a variable is copied. I am hoping this bug is fixed in CS5.5.
So can someone with Mac CS5.5 try this for me and report back:
1. create a variable, or use one already created by Adobe
2. insert it into some text
3. copy the text
4a. try pasting it into another part of the same document
4b. try pasting it into an external document, for example an Excel file.
Hopefully it won't crash and you will be able to tell me whether it is fixed or not! If variables do not cause InDesign to crash when copied then it might be worthwhile for me to upgrade to CS5.5.These problems are rarely easy to debug.
It appears from your crash report:
5 com.adobe.PDFL 0x216ef8e3 PDDocGetMergedXAPKeywords + 86221
That the problem is in the Adobe PDF Library (not surprising, this is what reads PDF files) when getting "merged XAP keywords," whatever those are.
I believe the XAP: metadata has been superceded by XMP metadata, so this suggests your PDF files have corrupt XMP metadata, or XMP metadata that InDesign cannot deal with.
You might try running some of the preflights and fixups in Acrobat that relate to analysis of XMP metadata,
or simply removing XMP Metadata from the PDF entirely, again in Acrobat.
It sounds like this is a genuine InDesign bug (even if your PDF file was damaged, it should not crash ID!), so you should open a case with Adobe Support and get them to file a bug (http://adobe.com/go/supportportal). Optimistically, such a bug is unlikely to be fixed in time for CS6, so don't expect miracles. Think of it as making sure your bug doesn't hurt other people two years from now. -
LabVIEW crashes when I save changes to a particular VI.
LabVIEW crashes when it tries to compile a particular VI. I have managed to get it to work a couple of times by changing a few things and making some subVIs, but the problem keeps returning.
Is there some way to fix this or clean the VI of whatever corruption keeps occurring?
Thank you,
David R. AsherI can think of address/hardware conflicts or something that LabVIEW cannot provide an error message. I would go with hardware/address conflicts.
Try renaming the file and executing it stand-alone. also try making it as a subvi and run the toplevel code.
Kudos always welcome for helpful posts -
Why does LabView crash when unloading my DLL (reentrant calls)?
I have written a DLL in Borland Delphi using multiple threads that exports several functions (stdcall). I am using LabVIEW 6i on a WinXP machine. All functions in the DLL work as expected and return correct values. Everything works fine if I set all Call Library Function Nodes to 'UI-Thread', but as soon as I set one Function Node to 'Reentrant', LabView crashes when I close the VI after it has been executed. I assume the error is caused by the DLL unloading mechanism of LabView. Other C++/Delphi programs using the DLL reentrantly work fine, this only occurs in LabView. In which thread does LabView call FreeLibrary/DLL_PROCESS_DETACH? Has anyone experienced similar problems?
I have never run into this situation myself, but I do know that calling a multi-threaded DLL or CIN from LabVIEW does depend upon the following criteria:
If your CIN/DLL doesn't have any global data storage (global variables, files on disk, etc.), AND it doesn't access any hardware (register-level programming) AND it doesn't call any functions/DLLs/Drivers that are thread-unsafe.
OR
Your CIN/DLL protects (with semaphores or mutex's) access to those global resources.
OR
Your DLL is only called from one, non-reentrant VI
OR
Your CIN is only called from one, non-reentrant VI AND you don't access any global resources from CINInit, CINAbort, CINDispose, etc. procedures.
Hopefully this information can help you out in some way.

Itunes crashes when importing Music File or Folder ever since i updated it yesterday
You can try downloading 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). You may get a more useful error message as to which component has problems.

Adobe Acrobat pro 9.4.6 crashes when opening multiple files simultaneously.
We have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 which has been updated to version 9.4.6. we had this problem when the 9.4.5 update was applied also. It is now crashing when we try to open multiple files simultaneously.
Yesterday, I narrowed down the problem to 6 plugins:
IA32
ADBC
eBook
EScript
HLS
PPKLite
SaveAsRTS
However, we discovered that that Comments and markup tool bars weren't loading. So I did a repair install on it.
Now those plugins from yesterday work and Acroform.api is causing it to crash when opening multiple files.
I did try other suggestion that involved using Icacls/cacls on dll files to no avail.
It is running on XP SP3 fully updated with plenty of RAM and HDD space.
Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?I am not sure what's causing this problem on your machine because everything's working fine for me.
What is the version of Acroform.api on your machine now.
Do a Repair after deleting this file and see if it works.
Enable Windows MSI logging (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314852) before you do a repair, upload that log to some file sharing server, and paste its link here. -
Adobe bridge crashes when saving illustrator files
Hi there,
We are developing custom connector using Adobe Drive SDK for our DAM system, the integration with CS was working fine, we recently updated Adobe Drive to 4.2, and we are encountering bridge crashes when saving illustrator file. It didn't happen with older version(4.0.2) of Adobe Drive, not sure why. I pin point the part that causing the issue: in our custom connector, we have READ_XMP_METADATA capability which we need to display the thumbnails and previews, and in the ftp sample connector, this capablity is not included originally, so the issue does not happen, but if I add this capabilty, the crash issue happens as well. If we exclude this capablity from our connector, this crash issue doesn't happen.
We noticed this only happens when saving illustrator file, not photoshop or indesign, and it seems that only in illustrator, when save, and the bridge has the current file folder showing, we are seeing there are twice folder refreshes, and usually it will crash after the second time. In photoshop and indesign, we don't see folder refreshes. If switch to other folder, the crash won't happen. We tested on both windows and Mac, on Mac, this seems happen less often. Another thing we noticed is in debug mode, or we have many debug logging turned on, the crash happens less often, if it is deployed with no debug logging, the crash happens almost everytime. So we are guessing it might be some synchronization problem.
Could you please advice what's the cause of this issue?
Thanks,
KatherineHas it ever worked?
What kind of files are they and where do you save them?
Is a printer connected, set up and turned ON?
Have you already tried resetting the preferences?
Generally it's not a good idea to just save old files, because then some artwork may be automatically flattened. Illustrator will save the file to the old version file-format and if you used new features in-between, those cannot stay live in the old version file format. -
Why does photoshop cs4 crash when opening a file? (Mac OS 10.6.8)
Why does photoshop cs4 crash when opening a file? (Mac OS 10.6.8) I've rebuilt pref.'s and reinstalled Photoshop with no positive results. I can create a new file but cannot "place" anything because that crashes as well.
System and photoshop have most recent updates. The crash report is as follows:

Please a solution against crashes when opening a file with Acrobat XI pro?
Hello,
Am a member of Adobe Creative Cloud.
Am also constantly having crashes when opening a file with Acrobat XI pro.
Am running on Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit - RAM 20 GB -
The crash happens systematically after the installation of the update. Within one day I uninstalled and reinstalled the program 4x! It takes of a lot of my time.... Thank you for providing a definitive solution!
Best regardsI've been having the same issue! I try to open it and it crashes - says re-open, it crashes... I re-installed it yesterday and it opened and worked fine. Closed it out at the end of the day thinking everything was finally fine but this morning the same crashes it had yesterday... HELP!!!
