LabVIEW: End of file encountered. While saving a freshly opened 8.6.1 vi

I recieved an error today while trying to migrate a LV 8.6.1 program into LV2009. The program opens sucessfully, and shows in the title bar with an asterisk showing that there has been changes. If I attempt to save the VI, the system hangs for a moment then gives the errors that I have attached below. These errors do not occur in LV 8.6.1.
I cannot post the entire VI for analysis, but I believe I have found the culprit. Attached, I also have a small demo VI that merely has 4 strip waveform charts. The VI was created in LV version 8.6, and on every LV2009 computer I have available it will crash when trying to save. The computer I have been using is a 3.2 Dual-core with 4GB of RAM, running windows XP SP3.
I realize the VI is quite large, and i'm not sure why that is. These waveform charts were copied from my application VI, then I cleared the data on them and reset the history to 10 samples.
I'm eager to know if this can be reproduced, and if there is something I would be able to do for a workaround. Thanks.

Of course. You're right. I was thinking LV2009 because that was what I opened it with to see the 77 MB of objects and to see the crash. So I was think that was the "after" problem file, and I want to see the "before" file for comparison.
Of course the "before" is opening that file in LV 8.6 and seeing its properties, which I didn't do earlier. Interestingly enough, I get the same sort of memory numbers. 77.7 MB of data. And I was able to save it with LV 8.6. It took a long time, but it worked.
So there are really two questions here.
1. Why does a VI with very little in it take up 77 MB worth of data in memory? What is it and how do you clear it out?
2. Why is LV 8.6 able to save that file, but LV 2009 cannot?
When I delete all but the first graph, I get 3 MB on file and 15 MB of data in memory. Pretty much 1/5 of the original in both cases. But LV 2009 was able to save that.

Are you trying to open Photoshop directly, or open it by double clicking on a Photoshop document, like a PSD file? If the former, then you might need to reinstall. Resetting Preferences would be the firs step, but I am not sure if that will work if Photoshop is not opening in the first place.
Try doing so anyway. Hold down Shift Alt Ctrl (Shift Opt Cmd) while opening Photoshop. OK the message to delete Preferences.
If you get the unexpected end of file error while trying to open Photoshop via a PSD document, then there is more than a good chance that that file is toast.
If still stuck, we need to know Operating System, and Photoshop version.

Unexpected end of file encountered

When I try to open a TIFF file in Photoshop CS3 i got an error dialog saying "Unexpected end of file encountered" and I am not able to open the image. The same image can be opened in Illustrator and other image conversion tools without any error. How is it possible???

The file is 180MB file. I just want to know why Photoshop is not able to open the file while Illustrator is able to open??
P.S I am able to open the file in Preview and Illustrator and other image conversion tools also

Can anyone help me? I'm using Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 7 at home and Photoshop CS4 at school. I get an Unexpected end of file occurred when I try to open my assignements at school.

Hi Curt...I'm new here, so I'll get the hang of it. Thank you for your quick response. I'm using the Mac OS X version 10.6.8 I'm a digital artist and was working on a psd file. I use a wacom tablet and all of a sudden everything stopped responding. I had to force quit Photoshop and open again. That's when the window telling me an unexpected end-of-file was encountered. So much work has gone into this piece of artwork, so needless to say, I'm beyond frustrated. I had saved this work along the way just so I wouldn't lose it, but now this unexpected twist. I will try what you suggested to see if it will help.

How to retain file name while saving file on archive servers

Hi Experts,
I am using function modules:
ARCHIVOBJECT_CREATE_TABLE and ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT for inserting a file to archive server and for linking it with a document.
Then I am reading the URL using FM: SCMS_AO_URL_READ. When I get this URL and download that file, the file name will be always defaulted to 'pclHTTP.dll'. I debugged these FMs to a certain extent and found that this name comes from CREP_HTTP-HTTP_SCRPT table.
Is there any way I can retain the file name while saving it so that when I read the URL it has correct file name in it?

Hi Max,
In case when downloading one file it is fine. But if I want to download 10 files at once and later if I go to my downloads, every file will be having similar name. Unless we open the file, we cannot know what file it is.

Crash at start up photoshop on mac for unexpected end-of-file encountered

Hi,
When I try to start Photoshop. I have the splash screen and it starts loading but when arrived at loading preferences, it stops and I have the error message :
unexpected end-of-file encountered. Then "could not initialize photoshop because the preferences file was invalid ( it has been deleted). I am sure I have not deleted but I know my hard drive is almost full.
What I can do ? I really need it. I have photoshop CS5 on mac osx. I can't get photoshop cc because my imac is too old

CS5: "Unexpected end-of-file encountered" when opening a file [was:HELP!]

I'm trying to open an art file I've been working on for the past week in Photoshop CS5 Extended, and I'm getting a message that my request cannot be complete because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered. Actually the problem is not with the client but with the servlet I think. In the servlet, I am able to retrieve the attachment and print its content. After receiving the Message, I am creating a new message and populating its body with a new child element and returning the message back to the client. Just Before returning the message, I am getting the Axis Fault error in the log file. I am giving the code for the Servlet I have used below:

DW destroys file encoding while saving them

hello there!
I wanted to modifiy the latest wordpress file "wp-config-sample.php" by opening it and saving it without any changes and guess what; dreamweaver CS3 modifies the encoding of this file making un-usable to wordpress installation.
I tried to open this file in notepad and save it in defferent encoding, and her's the results;
save as --> ANSI --> works
save as --> Unicode --> does not work
save as --> Unicode Bg Endian--> does not work
save as --> UTF --> works
so at least saving in ANSI or UTF encoding works, but, in dreamweaver whatever I try it doesn't work, does that mean notepad is more advanced than DW!!
the file "wp-config-sample.php" doesn't contain any header information, just some PHP variables to define.
Dreamweaver CS 3 acts strange mayb when it doesn't find any header encoding information in the file.
any help?
NB: I checked the settings in the preferences and tried saving using the BOM segnitureand without it.. but always the same probleme

Well, I discovered what was missing around with my code; the line break!
if you go to Edit --> Preferences --> Code format --> you ahve to set line break type to CR LF (Windows).
it was set to CR macintosh.

Any solution for "unexpected end-of-file encountered"?

Using Mac 10.7.4 and CS5 Extended on an Imac 27.
Today, working on a large file PSD suffix and Photoshop froze. and when I restarted i got "unexpected end of file " error message on the file i was working on, but on several other files also in that folder.
Has anyone found a solution to this? Can you rebuild or restore the file in any way?
The file shows on the hard drive now as 118.6 megs.
The files show up in Bridge, but with small Previews.

It doesn't help you with this file, but unexpected failure is precisely what the new Photoshop CS6 Auto-Save feature helps with. If Photoshop were to crash/freeze/be forced closed/whatever, next time you start it it brings back whatever you were working on in the last few minutes before the failure.

Error in writing to file encountered while applying patch 9.2.0.8

I encountered the error message below while applying Oracle 9.2.0.8 patch set using OUI on server running Oracle 9.2.0.7 and Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2:

I've already stopped the Oracle instance and services before invoking the setup.exe.
My question is: Why this is happening and what is the resolution to prevent this error from happening?

I used the script in the Metalink note 454040.1 and chose 5. I typed in the orapls9.dll to see which module is locking this dll and I found out it is avrrepsvc.exe which is one of the services our application is running. I just stopped it in Services Console and run the setup.exe of the patch. The installaton of patch run successfully. I checked the version using 'select banner from v$version' and I now got this results:

End of file reached when saving?

Hello,
I have 3 short movies (around one minute each) that I want to append using QuickTime (I do that all the time, and these 3 movies are taken from the same source than the other usually used).
So, I copy and paste all of them in a new movie and try to save. The save process seem to start (and progress), but, ten seconds later, I see that message:
“The movie could not be saved.
The end of the file was reached.”
Hmm… I usually know very well what "reaching the end of the file" means, but I can't understand what it can mean when I try to "save" a file. My disk has 90 GB of free space, so it's not the cause.
Anyone already saw this weird error, along with some magical solution?

How to put current date in File name while saving PDF file.

Hi expert,
A report is scheduled for broadcasting in PDF format . User wants it should have current date in its file name.
Now system generated file name is Z_XXX_YYY_0000.pdf , but it should have Z_XXX_YYY_10012012.pdf or in any date format.

First, how to best change the name of the folder. In Library view, there is a Folders panel within the lest hand side panel. If you select the folder and bring up the context menu, you can select the rename option to change the name/date of the folder. Lightroom will also cause the name to be changed on the HDD so both Lightroom as well as the OS will know about the change. This is the simplest way to handle folder name changes.
Renaming the photos contained within the folder is a bit trickier. I have tried the Lightroom batch rename function, which should work by the way, I encountered some issues in which Lightroom wanted to substitute a sequence number, starting at 0001 rather than use the starting number I wanted to use. This was in Lightroom 4.x and I ended up having to manually rename files. To rename the files within the folder, select the folder to display the grid view of the images within that folder. Next, select all of the photos you want to rename and then select Library/Rename Photos (must be in Library mode) or just press the F2 key. This will open a Rename Photo dialog. Use the drop down box to select your naming scheme (or custom, which will open the Filename Template Editor where you can build your own template. From there, just click to confirm your choices and you should be able to rename your files.
As I said above, I did have trouble with this in V4.x so I suggest only selecting one of the photos and testing it out. If it works, you can select the rest and complete your task. If it doesn't, then you can fix that, try again to get it to work or just manually rename your photos which is what I ended up doing.

Labview end of file encountered

After the crash I can't open the vi.
Automatic backup is on. But in LVAutoSave folder i found only old archives.
Is there any way to recover corrupted file or find a backup. LabView suppose to backup VIs every 5 minutes.

Well that was a bit confusing to read, but my guess is the file pointer is remaining at the end of the file if some sort of file close is not happening correctly when B is run inside A. You said when it is not shut down properly this happens, so all bets are off if the file isn't being closed. My suggestion is make sure the file is being closed properly (make sure you aren't aborting the VI, but instead are sending it a exit message), and if you do not use read from measurement file but instead use the file I/O VIs, there is a VI to set file position. You can set it to "start" every time before you read.
This is just a guess, you may want to post your VI if you can.

File Save dialog box not showing correct file name while saving file

Currently, after the Submit button is hit, the File Save dialog box is displayed. If the user saves the file and then opens it then the output appears correct however if the user chooses to open the file without saving on the local machine then the correct viewer is not used to display the file. The name of the file is defaulted as qotSCopPrint.jsp and the default file viewer for jsp files is chosen to view the file. The format of the file is obviously not text (it is either pdf or rtf) so the output shows binary characters.
