LabVIEW File Permissions Error (8) when trying to delete a .SVN checkout directory

This one has me stumped...
Our test platform: Windows XP SP2, LabVIEW 8.2.1, TortoiseSVN client 1.45 Build 10425
We would like to delete our checkout folder and download a clean version from our SVN server using LabVIEW.
When we try and delete the folder using the standard LabVIEW Delete VI (see attached snap) we always receive Error 8 - LabVIEW:  File permission error. You do not have the correct permissions for the file. This is interesting because I've checked the entire directory hierarchy and I'm the sole owner under Windows XP - I'm also our domain admin.
In an effort to debug this further, we removed the contents of the directory, apart from the hidden .svn. We checked the .svn tree for any outstanding files and removed them. We then re-ran the LabVIEW code to delete the dir. Still no joy. We then looked at the Windows dialog for the attributes of the checkout folder. It appear that the folder has read-onlly attributes - with a greyed-out tick in the checkbox. Also trying to delete the folder under the Windows command line doesn't work either. It only seems to work when you delete the folder through the Windows GUI.
Any thoughts anyone?

LabVIEW has the nasy habit of locking a directory where it opened a file in or just browsed.
Maybe this bug is biting you

  • Error message when trying to delete pdf in 10.1

With 10.0.03 everything in Acrobat worked fine. In 10.1 I get an error when trying to delete pdf files I've recently worked on. The message says:
"Are you sure you want to move this file to the Recycle Bin? Then "file name".pdf, Type: Adobe Acrobat Document, Size: 153 KB, Date modified: 6/18/2011 3:28 PM.
    Other times the message is:
"The action can not be completed because the file is open in Acrobat.exe. Choose file again. Then "file name".pdf, Type: Adobe Acrobat Document, Size: 153 KB, Date modified: 6/18/2011 3:28 PM. Try Again"
This happens everytime I try to either delete the file using a menu to delete or drag the file to the Recycle Bin by hand.
Only way to get out of the loop is to log out then log in. This only started happening after updating to 10.1.
Anyone else see this problem and know how to fix it?

Just a suggestion but I have found on WIn 7 that showing a pdf in the
Preview view can make win think the file is open and locked for editing. The
little icon on the taskbar makes it easier to turn the preview on and off. I
always check my open explorer windows now when I get messages like that and
it usually clears it up. Hope it works foryou.

  • I get error message when trying to delete files on Macbook Pro.

I am trying to delete files on my Macbook Pro, Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 -  I get this message: "The operation can’t  be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50) "  This is a folder.  Under Finder/Get Info I have unlocked the padlock in lower right corner, and the padlock box is not checked.
    Please HELP!

You should always backup your iPad before ever doing anything major that coould result in a catastrophic loss is something goes wrong. You can then usually restore from the backup when your iPad has recovered.
You should also be sure to have transfered any new purchases directly to your iPad to the iTunes app on your computer on a regular basis.

  • Error message when trying to delete an item in a purchase order

    Hi,
We are trying to delete an item in a PO, but when we select the item and click on the trash button (Delete), we get the following error message:
«Evaluated receipt settlement open, deletion not possible
    Message no. ME867»
There was a good receipt that was originally done for this PO. We cancelled it with the opposite posting (debit GR/IR account and credit the project account using t-code MIGO.) The account assignment category of this PO is «Project».
    Thanks for you help.

    Hi,
This means ERS is active in your system.
What this means is that when you do a GRN, an ERS flag is activated in the PO header.  The ERS is then settled using the PO data in SRM.
If you have not settled this (at least this is what is indicated from the message), then uncheck this flag in the PO header and then try and archive.
    Cheers.

  • Error message when trying to delete a conditional tag.

When attempting to delete a conditional tag, the following error occurred and then the program closed down:
    0x00ca1940/ 0x00000000
Anyone come across this error. In addition, I have had similar errors occurred when resizing graphic frames. Once the error occurs, the program shuts down.

    Paul,
It might help if you let us know which version and build of FM that
    this happened in.
Was the tag still in use throughout the document when you tried to
delete the condition? Did you get any prompts about deleting the
    condition?

  • ICloud : error message when trying to delete iPhone 4 back up

Just wondering if any one else is having this problem. I got my new iphone 4S in the mail yesterday. I went on my older iPhone 4 and did a iCloud back up of it. The only snag I have hit thus far is its still downloading photos. Which does not bother me at all. The thing that I have not figured out is why ever time I try and delete the older 840MB back up of my iPhone 4 it gives me a error message. That says CANNOT DELTE BACK UP This backup can not be deleted at this time. With the option of try again or ok.
I can delete the backup of the new iPhone 4S no problem. The only solution I have not tryed would be restoring my old iPhone 4 deleting it from there and then going back to my iPhone 4S. Would love to know if any one else is having simular issues. And if so how they trouble shot it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Almost a year later and I'm experiencing this exactly situation now.
I was in the middle of the process of data migration from iPhone 4 to 4S and due to really slow download speed restoring iCloud backup, I interrupted the process and started a new full restore process through USB and iTunes (reset all setting and configurations on the 4S and did a local machine backup of the old 4 and asked to restore from that).
After a full successful restore process, I'm trying to delete the old iPhone 4 2GB backup in iCloud and the error message saying that "this backup cannot be deleted because its being used to restore another device, or backup is currently in progress".
Of course I ran out of spece (iPad, old iPhone 4 and new iPhone 4S backups) and I tried everything, disabling iCloud, deleting from my MBP, from iPad, and no success.
I cannot restore the old 4 and deactivate iCloud backup because I don't have this phone anymore, probably it's already in use by another person.
    PS: iOS6, Mountaing Lion
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Error -36 when trying to delete from external HD

    Hi there,
As obviously many people before me, I've just experienced the Error Code -36 problem.
I'm using an external WD 2tb USB hard drive, formatted to NTFS. It has always worked perfectly using Paragon NTFS (got 10.0.2 installed atm). Today I tried deleting several files in completely different folders and it says the drive can't be read or written with said error code -36.
    Here's what I've tried:
    - ejecting the drive, completely disconnecting it from power and re-connecting it
    - rebooting the Mac
    - re-installing Paragon NTFS
    - connecting the drive directly (I usually connect it through a USB hub)
    - dot_clean on the entire drive and every folder and sub-folder
    Obviously, nothing has worked out...
I've checked the permissions and it says I should be able to read and write. Then I've tried deleting from any possible folder on that hard drive - same problem - and on the Mac HD itself - works there. I can even copy/move files to that hard drive, access the files on the disc (e.g. pictures, video files) and copy/move from the disk to the Mac HD.
I couldn't repair the disk in Disk Utility either. First it didn’t even verify it (stopped with an error) and then it told me to repair it (brought loads of “Attribute 0x80 has either a cross-link or a bad allocation length” and “File xy does not contain data attribute”). But then after a while it says “Disk Utility stopped repairing. Disk Utility can’t repair this disk” and tells me to reformat it.
And here goes the weird part: I've tried deleting the exact same files using another Mac and it worked and now it even works with my Mac again.
While the problem is solved (for now), I'd just love to know what actually was the problem in the first place (yes, I am a weirdo). So, if anyone has an idea, please let me know :)

Ok sorry I didn't read your whole first post. I have no idea as to why.
If you have a Windows PC just delete file on that NTFS formatted drive from there.
Check in the Paragon forums for a answer to the question why you can't delete from OS X.
That would be the place to start.
    MissKillALot wrote:
I know that obviously. That's why I wrote that I'm using Paragon NTFS and also that I was still able to actually move files onto the disk and from the disk to the Mac HD, but just wasn't able to delete anything.

  • Error message when trying to delete rejected clips

When I try to delete the rejected clips in some projects (from the event panel) I get the following error message:
"The operation could not be completed. Error writing file: /Users/lee/Movies/iMovie Events.localized/imovie-001/04dx 01-1.mov"
This only occurs with certain imported movie clips. Other imported clips work as expected when I move the rejected portions to the trash.
    Can anyone help? Thanks.

  • Error message when trying to delete facebook...help

i go into settings and accounts where it brings me to facebook and twitter. i try to delete the accounts and get an error message that says "an error has occurred, please try again" that's it. not other instruction. any suggestions?? thanks.

You *should* be able to Delete/Remove the Account using "MY ACCOUNTS" from the App Drawer. If you select REMOVE ACCOUNT it are still getting that error I would try Clearing the Data/Cache for the APP.
Menu / settings / applications / running services  >  click on the ALL Tab and scroll down to Facebook. Click on it.  Press both the CLEAR Cache & CLEAR Data. Also, the FORCE STOP at the very top.
Now see if it allows you to Remove the account.  Let us know.

what can be done to avoid getting the following error when trying to delete unused clips in Imovie 09 "the operation could not be completed.  *** -[__NSArrayM insertObject:atIndex:]: object cannot be nil"  I use to get these type of error messages when trying to delete unsused clips from a large event 60 minutes or longer, but now I get this message when trying to reduce a 4 minute event.
Also, does anyone know if there is a limit to the total amount of space that can be taken up by Projects in Imovie 09
    Thanks for any help

    Zachy,
    It goes something like this...
Put your new drive in the enclosure. Use Disk Utility to format it, etc. I'd give it a slightly different name than the original. Let's say you have Old Disk and New Disk as your drive names. Use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy Old Disk to New Disk. Now you should have an exact copy, which you can test by rebooting and holding down the Option key. Choose New Disk from the list and let it boot, make sure all is well.
Shut down and physically swap the drives. Take Old Disk and put it in the enclosure. Now your system has a new disk with a lot more space and you can reformat your old disk and just use it for large files or whatever.

  • I receive the follwing error message when trying to open my ipod touch/itunes "the itunes libary.itlfile is lockedon  a lockdisk or you do not have write permission on this file. How do I resolve this problem?

I receive the follwing error message when trying to open my ipod touch/itunes "the itunes libary.itlfile is lockedon  a lockdisk or you do not have write permission on this file. How do I resolve this problem?

    Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Securitytab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.
If you've brought over the library from another computer you may also want to remove any "mystery" identities (S<string of dashes & digts>) that have come over from the old computer...
The images above are from Windows 7. Hopefully the system isn't too different in Windows 8.

  • I receive the following error message when trying to install QuickTime for Windows "Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."

I recieve the following error message when trying to install Quicktime for Windows "Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."  I just trying to get the latest version of iTunes.  Thanks

"Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • I get the following error message when trying to download ITunes on my computer running Windows XP - Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple Application Support\CFNetwork.dll

I get the following error message when trying to download ITunes on my computer running Windows XP - Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple Application Support\CFNetwork.dll

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Why do I get "generic error" message when trying to upload a self-created, 1hr .wmv file?

I went through the forums and made sure that any blocks or copywrites weren't triggered by the file, it's clean and can be opened using a media player and other video editing software like windows MovieMaker. I keep getting "The importer reported a generic error" message and have no idea how to proceed. Can someone please help?

Re: Why do I get "generic error" message when trying to upload a self-created, 1hr .wmv  file?
This ARTICLE starts with a checklist on setting up a computer to run PrE best, then goes into a series of links for tuning up one's computer and OS, and then links on troubleshooting.
There is also a link on posting all necessary info, to help others help you.
Without knowing much more about your system, it is impossible to say much beyond that WMV's are tough assests to work with, requiring a lot of CPU horsepower.
    Good luck,
