LabVIEW Installer is not writing to the registry

I have a LabVIEW installer with the following Registry page in it and it does not write the values I have requested to the registry on Windows Server 2008 R2. Any clues that anyone can give me to assist.
Note: The [INSTALLDIR] variable is a valid command.

You didn't mention which bitness of LabVIEW 2009 you were using, but I'd guess 32-bit? If so, just a sanity check that you are looking at the 32-bit registry location on Server 2008 R2?
Assuming you're using 32-bit LabVIEW, then it is going to create a 32-bit installer. The 32-bit installer can only write to the 32-bit registry. So though you are writing to HKLM\Software\Summitek (which is a 64-bit registry location), Windows redirects the key creation to HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Summitek (which is the 32-bit location). Look at that location to see if your key is there.
This isn't actually a problem, as if your 32-bit LabVIEW application tries to open HKLM\Software\Summitek - it too will be automatically redirected to the "Wow6432Node" location. So in short, because of Window's automatic redirection, it's something you don't usually need to worry about.

Event 31901 – The registry probe could not connect to the registry of the computer name

Hi, I have been doing a weekly SQL query to try and find any high number of events I get in my SCOM environment.
One of the events I have stumbled across is 31901 (“The registry probe could not connect to the registry of the computer <name>”) which comes from the “Collect Registry Probe Module Events”
I have read a couple of previous suggestions on the forum and upon checking I found two different scenarios. For a couple of servers I checked the health and it looked like they had RPC issues. A restart got rid of these problems.
However the ones left seem to have something in common. They relate to hosts referring to SQL “instances/clusters”. So the “logging computer” is the host and the probe cannot to the registry of the “virtual computer”. In other words the computers that can’t
be connected to are all agentless and show as managed by the logging computer under “Agentless Managed”
If I log onto the host with my SCOM action account and run something like “reg query” against the virtual “instance” I get “ERROR: The network path was not found”. I can ping the instance fine though. I don’t really understand how these instances work but
I presume they don’t have services or a registry as such. Therefore is this normal or is there any way I can get rid of the events? I don’t really want to get rid of the rule itself as it did help me find a couple of RPC issues. I could override for that host

Java installer does not open browser the right way

Hi,
since no direct feedback to Oracle is possible (feedback form does not work), I'm using this forum for feedback. The feedback is meant for Oracle but I appreciate any input from the community.
At the end of the installation process the Java installer opens the default browser and navigates to a Java/Oracle website. The call is not made using the default way by invoking the standard browser. However the installer seems to open the main exe of the default browser by circumventing standard procedures.
Example: My default browser is Chrome. Registry settings are set in a way that the browser is opened with specific path variables like a non-default cache path and size and some other variables. Everything works fine and all calls to display any URL are made using the registry settings provided. If I open any URL the browser will open using the specified variables. The same is true for any program that tries to open an URL. The only exception is - of course - Java. The installer opens Chrome directly by circumventing the default settings thus resulting in Chrome opening up with completely different settings.
Let me tell you how deeply dissatisfied I am with such a behavior. Programs should invoke browsers using standard system calls. If Java had done this Chrome would have opened with default settings.

Writing to the registry

How can you write to the registry in java, and then retrieve those keys (for an installer)?

J++, microsoft's old tool, had a way to do this.
Standard java may not support this type of thing as
it is not platform independent.I'd suggest that you'd check out the Preferences class's behaviour on a Windows system and then make another assumption...

Regedit does not display all the registry keys

For some reason not all existing keys in the registry are being displayed when using regedit utility.
I know that the key exists because it is added by my code and it is being read back by the programming code correctly.
However regedit cannot find it.
How to correct that?

What version of Windows are you using?
64-bit Windows has two (2) registries.
The default is to run the 64-bit regedt32.exe which is in the C:\Windows\System32 directory and view the 64-bit register.
If you want to view and/or edit the 32-bit register you must run the C:\Windows\WOW64\regedt32.exe.

ADDT installs but not appear in the DW CS4 panels

Hi guys,
i´m trying to use ADDT 1.0.1 at a new fresh intalled copy of DW CS4 under a Vista Ultimate system. I install the extension, and it seems to be everything fine, but when i open Dreamweaver, the tab Developer Toolbox is not appearing. I´ve tried to reinstall both DW CS4 and ADDT, but nothing happens.
Anyone has an idea of what´s happening?

that´s correct, Dreamweaver CS4 doesn´t provide the familiar Developer Toolbox tab -- however the ADDT Wizards are still available via the standard Dreamweaver menu bar:

Uninstaller utility does not remove the installation from the registry

In our environment, we publish a script in Group Policy so that both the ActiveX and Plugin installs for flash player are easily installed for staff that have limited user access on their computers. I usually remove or replace the old MSI files from the path the above script installs from when I get new versions of Flash Player. For a while, I've run into a problem where when the new MSI files are installed, they try to uninstall the existing installation and fail because the old MSI file is no longer at the original installation source path. I've tried to remedy this by having the script use the uninstall_flash_player utility to manually remove the activex and plugin first, but this utility does not remove the installation details of each from the registry, and the subsequent installations of the MSI files fail. I have to uninstall the existing flash player installations first or perform a registry hack to formally remove the installation from Windows, and then the new installation will succeed.
Does anybody have any advice for making this process work better? Would this be considered a bug with the uninstaller tool?

Weblogic 10.3.2.0 installation does not pick the right JDK

The installation does not pick up the right jdk version that is jdk 11.6.0_11 . Although the machine is running the same. Instead it picks up jdk 1.6.0_14. have tested the machine many times. I am Installing Oracle SOA Suite 11g.

Inside "startWebLogic.sh" file add the JAVA_HOME like following (just below the "setDomainEnv.sh" call):
JAVA_HOME=C:\bea103\jdk1.6.0_17

Adobe AIR Application Installation will not start

I purchased a program called Video Alchemy which requires Adobe AIR to run but the installation window will not display and the installation does not start.

I uninstalled adobe AIR and ran a file and registry cleaner to delete any left over files and installs.
Then installed the v.15 Adobe AIR beta as recommended.
The cleaners I used (ccleaner & jv16 power tools) did find some temporary install files and remnants of the Video Alchemy install.
Tried the install again and still no installation window displays.
I'm running Windows 7 on my PC and even changed the installation file compatibility to Windows XP service pack 2 to no avail.
Funny that it installed fine on my notebook with Adobe AIR latest version running Windows 7.
I'm watching task manager as I'm attempting the install and videoalchemy.exe has some cpu usage then drops to zero activity.
Then Adobe AIR application Installer starts up then cycles to zero cpu activity.
I'm stumped on this one :-(

Ultra 10 not writing to path_to_inst

Hello I have a Ultra 10 system, Solaris 8, 64-bit. I installed an Antares gigabit quad card and for some reason its not writing to the /etc/path_to_inst file. I installed the package and the package is showed doing a pkginfo. Issueing the command prtconf | grep ANTR it shows the instance numbers. Doing a reboot, the drivers becomes de-attached. In order to get the card to work properly I have to manually add the driver using /usr/sbin/add_drv -i. Has anyone had this problem with not being able to configured quad gigabit ethernet devices before. I installed two standard hme sun pci nics into the machine and they configured properly and wrote to path_to_inst file automatically. Please help.

The problem you are having is probably a third party issue that will take either Antares or Sun to fix for you. There seems to be quite a few posts concerning these cards and I still have no practical experience of them :-(
However, if you have a command process that works, just put it into your startup scripts and `bob's your uncle`, no more having to do it manually every time. I would probably configure your gig at the same time!

The contents of a page extends past the right edge of the screen so that it's not visible. The page is maxamized. How can I fix it?
