  • Please Help!!! VIPM won't connect to labview and I need to figure out why

I am trying to download the Arduino package from the VIPM and they won't seem to connect. I have included a picture of the error and two more of my settings. I am using the student evaluation of the Labview software, but I'm not sure that it is what's causing the problems. Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to set up a nice GUI using labview and an arduino as my DAQ device. I need this for a project for my professors so I am rather desperate to get it up and running.

  • Can't get LabVIEW software to work

I'm trying to get an old HP 5890 gas chromatograph up and running; Cornell has two LabVIEW programs to work with this model of GC, but I've not worked with LabVIEW. See:
    http://ceeserver.cee.cornell.edu/mw24/Software/Default.htm
I've tried to install the Runtime VISA, and I think it's installed correctly but I don't know how to check. But when I try to run either of the two applications from the above site, I just get the Windows musical "sting" that indicates everything's broken, but get no error message. It looks like I installed the VISA 4.30 Runtime, if that helps.
Some of the versions, when I try to run them, I get the "requires a version 8.2.1 (or compatible) LabVIEW Run-Time Engine." Should I be using another version of VISA Runtime for the other files that won't run, or...?
And is VISA Runtime free? I'm all lost right now.

    Hello Osprey,
To check if VISA is installed, open Measurement and Automation Explorer.  On the left pane, expand the Software menu.  VISA should be listed there.  It will also show you the version you have installed.
You can also have more than one version of the LabVIEW runtime engine installed.  Which version is required depends on which version the original code was created with.
I'm not sure this link will work, but it should be to all of the run-time engines.
    http://search.ni.com/nisearch/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/tech/lang/en/pg/1/sn/catnav:du,n13:runtime,ssnav:...
The latest VISA driver is here:  http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2659/lang/en   You need at least LabVIEW 8.6 for this version though.  If you're using an older version of LabVIEW, you'll need to find a compatible version of VISA.  You can check compatibility by reading the Readme.html file linked on the VISA page.
    Good luck.

    Hello Laura,
To cut to the chase - I have 20 years of LabVIEW application development experience along with a degree in electrical engineering. You can see from my attached resume that I am extremely qualified for almost any project.
I am willing to work for little or no pay if I can have the opportunity for my family to stay in your country during the summer of 2013. I personally can stay much longer than that.
I am hoping I can help you do a project during this time to allow me and my family to travel there and meet the people of your beautiful country and see the sites.
I have very good mechanical / electrical / software skills including being able to do 3D design with solid works.
Currently I am doing work for a customer in Arizona designing LabVIEW software to do APU testing (150kW jet engine generator - very challenging and enjoyable!!)
Might I contact you by Skype for a chat?

Hold down the Option key while you boot your Mac. Then, it should show you a selection of devices. Click your flash drive and it will boot from that.

  • How do I port my Windows Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files to the MAC?  What software is needed on the MAC to use them?  Thanks.

How do I port my Windows Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files to the MAC?  What software is needed on the MAC to use them?  Thanks.

You can certainly use iWork, though I hesitate to recommend it to a seasoned Windows user simply because it would add another level of the unfamiliar with which you would have to gain familiarity. The iWork applications are certainly very competent and in most respects both easy to use and surprisingly powerful. They are not 100% compatible however, though that typically manifests itself in document formatting issues rather than anything more significant.
I have never attempted to import emails from a Windows system into MacOS - other than in Outlook connected to an Exchange server, thus not really an issue at all. I doubt that the Mail app in MacOS can import directly, but of course you could always set the account(s) up on the Mac and then forward emails you want to keep from the PC. Not elegant, but it works. Virtually any Windows document or file, whichever application created it, can be opened or converted for use on a Mac, and using both systems on my desk each day I rarely see any issues switching stuff from one machine to the other. You may stumble over one or two issues, but likely not significant.
In switching platforms there will be some inevitable issues, not so much with being able to import your stuff because there's usually a workaround or a utility that can help, but just with getting familiar with the platform and the differences between Windows and MacOS that can obscure their similarities. From time to time the support community here hears from a user who has found the migration very problematic and regrets it, but for the most part the phrase 'I should have done this years ago...' is rather more prevalent!

Not using Boot Camp, but you should be able to using virtualization software such as Parallels to run Windows concurrently with OS X.

I cannot find the software and need to put it on a new computer. How do I do this? I do not remember where the software is yet it is on my computer along with Photoshop CS6 extended. I have that disk but cant find anything else.

    gr8gear,
You can see (only) part of the registration number under Help>About Illustrator.
If you have registered it with Adobe (optional up to CS4), you should be able to see it on your products page
    https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html
Otherwise, you may ask in a chat here (depending on version):

There is no serial number and you don't need one. What you need for a subscription is to SIGN IN within Acrobat, so it knows the subscriptions you own.

Turn Home Share 'OFF' in iTunes then back "ON" ... it took ~60 sec for the AppleTV to pick up my Mac in computers.

  • Is it possible to run my Labview software in Windows 7

    Hi there,
I currently use Labview 8.2.1 and Labview DSC 8.2.1.
But within a short time I want to switch from Windows XP to Windows 7.
    My question now is:
Is it possible to switch to Windows 7 without any problems?
Will the Labview software still run under Windows 7 without problems, or do I have to download new drivers or other software?
I hope to get a reaction soon.

    Hi Cheese,
Official LabVIEW support/compatibility with Windows 7 is explained under the following articles.
National Instruments Product Compatibility for Microsoft Windows 7
    Windows Version Compatibility with LabVIEW
LabVIEW Module and Toolkit Compatibility Information
On the forums, people seemed to have mixed reviews about older versions of LabVIEW with newer versions of Windows 7. Another piece of food for thought is Windows 7 (some versions) contain a "Windows XP Mode", which MAY allow you to run this version of LabVIEW in 7 however as the above articles show this is not the supported version. Essentially the XP mode allows virtualisation of XP OS on Windows 7. I've not personally tried it with this version of LabVIEW, but it's just an idea!
    Windows Virtual PC
Upgrading to the latest version of LabVIEW will work and is fully supported.
    Hope this may help

I don't know what i need. I'am a mac user but i need to run quick books premier. This is the only software i need in windows . Could i have some advise in  what is better for me, Bootcamp or Parallels

The Intuit rep said they don't "support" QuickbooksPremier on a "virtual machine." Do you know what I risk by using it, anyway? thanks for the advice about Boot Camp vs Parallels, BTW!
I use QuickBooks Pro for Mac, so I haven't had need to try any of the Windows versions in a VM. But I can't think why it wouldn't work. From within the VM, QuickBooks Premier would believe it is operating on PC hardware within Windows.
I would guess they mean that the multiple user support wouldn't work from within the VM. But I would think that would also work. Windows can see the Internet from within the VM, which means it can see your network. So if Windows can see the network, then QB Premier should be able to, too.
I know you can get Parallels as a demo, and maybe you could get QB Premier as trial software. So if you already have a retail copy of Windows to load into a VM, it would only cost you time to test what's possible.
