  • FieldPoint devices and LabVIEW program for educational project

I use LabVIEW 7.1 and NI FieldPoint devices (FP-1000) for educational
purposes. I want to control a automation unit which has got 6 digital
input(DI) and 5 digital output(DO). I used the sequence structure, but
actually I am not sure the solution whether true or not.
    Working principle of my system:
If "Channel 1" DI is ON, DO Channel 10 must be "ON"(turn table motor
    Start)
If Channel 2 DI is ON, DO Channel 10 must be "OFF"(turn table motor
Stop) and DO Channel 11 must be "ON" (drill motor Start) and after a
delay time DO Channel 12 will ON (drill motor down)
If Channel 3 DI is ON, DO Channel 12 will OFF, a bit of delay time DO
Channel 13 ON ( drill motor up)
If Channel 4 DI is ON, DO Channel 13 and Channel 11 will be OFF (drill
motor stop) and then DO Channel 10 must be activated.(turn table again
    Start)
If Channel 2 is ON again DO Channel 10 will OFF and check cyclindir
control Channel 14 will ON, after a delay Channel 14 will OFF
If Channel 5 DI is ON, DO Channel 10 will ON again while DI Channel 2
    is ON.
How can I project the system with LabVIEW 7.1?
    Thanks, stn

This is a pneumatic technical experiment set. Your suggestions okey
but I have already studied these subjects.I have tested a solution for
the system using the sequence structues in the LabVIEW. But if you
sent to me an example vi, I will understand the solution way.Thanks.
Working principle of my system as a summary:
Step 1: When DI 1 is ON, DO 1 must be "ON"(turn table motor
Start) while DI 2 is ON. In this case DO 2 must be "ON" (drill motor
    Start) and after a bit
time delay DO 3 will ON (drill motor down),
Step 2 : when DI 3 is ON,(drill bottom level), DO 3 will OFF, after
that DO 4 will ON ( drill motor upper position) in this case DI 4 is
ON, after that DO 1 again ON while DI 2 is ON (like step 1)

Someone know the method to implement a psophometric or weighted filter in Labview software Without using Sound and Vibration Toolkit?

The simplest way to implement a psophometric filter is to use the Sound and Vibration toolkit.

  • I want to become a Labview programmer and I have no programming experience where do I need to start to learn labview programming

I have had LabVIEW Basics 1 and 2 what do I do next?

I always recommend the course of action that I took when I learned LabVIEW (in one week).
Go get "LabVIEW for Everyone" and "Power Programming". They are readily available through NI's website, or through a good technical bookstore, or even a college bookstore. From there, just go through the example programs.
I strongly recommend also learning good style. LabVIEW comes with a style guidelines book (which, apparently, only 6 people have ever read...) This will get you started on the road to good practices. LTR is also a good resource.
    Good luck.
Oh, also, when you have gotten some experience, I recommend taking Advanced. I took it (three years after I learned LabVIEW) and was very happy with the course.

  • Labview software locking up while recording data. Code has not changed and used to work fine.

I am using labview 5.1 and DAQ 6.6. While recording data, which seems to work fine, the real-time plots simply stop and labview seems to lock up after about 30 seconds of reading data. The VI I am using I have been using for a long time and I have never had a problem like this before. I am really stumped as to why this happens.

    Yes do the jpg thing.
If I understand you correctly, the data makes to the file.
Double check the data in the file to make sure you are getting good values. Who knows, you may have a bad channel that is ggofing with you scales such that just can't see the data.
It start to plot and then suddenly it just goes away huh?

  • Does System Architect or Project leader need to know DB skill?

Hi, this question may require Experienced System architect or project leader to help me.
Currently i am working as a normal programmer. I hope i can be System Architect in future (probably for J2EE platform). So, beside my system design skill, do i need DB design skill as well?
If DB skill is needed, what level should i have? do i need to go through all the details like how to create stored procedure, create user, create table, all the dbms architecture....
    Pls share the experience.

I have seen two categories of Architects - the ones who only do design, and the ones that design and build. On projects where the architect just did design work it is common to have significant changes from the original design - this is caused by developers encountering problems that the original architecture did not anticipate. As the architect is not familiar with implementation details they are pretty useless for helping to figure out the performance bottlenecks. Plus I have found that in these cases the final design bears little resemblance to the original design.
On the other hand, the architect that can and does work with the software will be more familiar with the bottlenecks that can occur, and can help to solve them. Furthermore, they can avoid those types of problems in future designs.
Your tools question is way too broad. There are hundreds of tools out there, each testing some unique aspect of enterprise applications. Without knowing much more about the technology, architecture, platform, etc. - it's impossible to quote specific tools.
I can tell you what I have in my tool box - The three tools that I rely on the most are JUnit for unit testing my code, Abbot/HTTPUnit for UI layer testing, and OptimizeIt for testing performance and memory leakage. Beyond this the tools that I use depend on the specific situation.
What facts do they need to know? Another broad question. The only architects that I have seen that are worth anything are the ones that have gone through the design / build / test / deploy process multiple times. There is no substitute for experience. You can take as many courses as you like, or read as many books as you can stand, but you really are not capable of designing complex applications until you have been through the fire a couple of times. My recommendation to you is to start with a smaller project, design it and then build it. Once it is finished, look to see how much it has changed from initial design to final build. Repeat this process until your initial designs are close to your final builds.
