  • Labview support for ISO 8859-5

    HI,
does Labview support ISO 8859-5 character sets?
If yes, then how do i change the default character set in Labview from ASCII to ISO 8859-5?
If no, then which is the simplest way to display russian characters in Labview 6.1 (Labview 6.1 on SuSE LINUX)
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pavitra

    Hi Pavitra,
There is a very easy way to do that in Windows. Start>Settings>Regional and Language Options. Make sure Russian is included as an input language language on the language tab, as well as on the advanced tab where you can specify the language for non-unicode programs.
I have attached a screenshot that demonstrates cyrillic fonts in LabVIEW. The example is done with Bulgarian font, but it should work the same way with Russian. As you can see I have also specified Arial CYR as my font for the front panel and the block diagram.
Try to use the same logic for a Linux system.
    Hope that helps!

  • LabVIEW Support for Innovation Integration X5-210M

I was wondering if anyone here is using Innovation Integration X5-210M module: http://www.innovative-dsp.com/products.php?product=X5-210M
and was able to interface the acquired data with LabVIEW.
Their support is only in the form of C++ libraries and an example program. They also suggest, in a very general way, how to create a DLL for LabVIEW: http://www.iidsp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=549
I am having a hard time trying to put it together. If anyone has found a solution, I appreciate it if you guide me in the right direction. Please be specific.
    Thanks.

    Ghulam-
Take a look at this link:
http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-2028 this is an example on running a C DLL in LV but the architecture should be very similar to making a C++ version. Let me know if this helps! Happy Presidents Day!!

  • NI-DAQmx support for labview could not be found

Hi, I am pretty new to LabView. I was using VC++ to programming for my USB-6215. Just curious how LabView works, so I try to follow the "Introduction to Taking an NI-DAQmx measurement in LabView" and configure my USB-6215 in LabView. However, when I try to gererate codes for the DAQmx task name control, an error message pop up as "Error:NI-DAQmx support for labview could not be found. Please reinstall NI-DAQmx".  I did reinstall NI-DAQmx, but it doesn't help. This error occurs anyway. Any idea how it happens and the solution is highly appreciated. Thank you.

  • LabVIEW RT driver support for CEI-620?

    Hi All,
I am using PXI-8106 to run heavy-duty communication and one chasis holds the CEI-620 card (third party ARINC429 card from GE, formerly Condor Engineering).  Currently  on the PXI controller only runs LabVIEW RT (Pharlap) since I did not want to install Windows OS to slow the performance.  Now here it is the problem, GE does not provide LabVIEW RT driver support for CEI-620 (they do have LabVIEW RT support for CEI-830 though, but that card is PMC interface). Basically right now MAX can not recognize the CEI-620 card on the host side, and I can not deploy my ARINC429 application VI to the target PXI controller. I am wondering anybody here has encountered the same problem and develop the LabVIEW RT driver for CEI-620 on his own?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Unfortunately I don't have much more information to offer.  I would suggest checking to make sure you have all the correct device information whe you create the ini file.  I think you should still be able to develop a driver for a poll based device.  It should be easier to generate an ini file if you do not require interrupt information.  Make sure you have the correct identification information and try using the VISA Driver Development Wizard again.

  • LabVIEW DSP Test Integration Toolkit support for Code Composer Studio version 4

    Hi,
I came to know about the LabVIEW DSP Test Integration Toolkit support for Code Composer Studio from the link http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5839. I would like to know if this works with Code Composer Studio version 4 also. I am using CCSv4 with TMS320C6748 board. If not, can you please tell me if NI has brought out any software that helps in real time data exchange between CCSv4 and Labview?
    Regards,
    Debarati.

    Debarati,
I did some more research into your issue and found out that unfortunately, NI no longer officially supports the DSP Test Integration Toolkit as seen here: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5839
I also see that you located our example VI here http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/4311 and that the VI asked you for a .pjt file that you could not locate in CCSv4. Being that we no longer support the DSP Test Integration Toolkit, your next course of action would be to contact TI and inquire what .pjt file corresponds to in the newest version of CCS. I hope TI can be of more help to you with this issue since, as I said before, we no longer support this toolkit.

  • DAQmx support for LabVIEW 2010

FYI to those downloading LabVIEW 2010 from NI web site:
After Installing LabVIEW 2010 (download from web site), I noticed that there is no support for DAQmx (i.e.. VI libraries) in NI_DeviceDrivers-February2010 DVD (my latest copy).  Your have to download and install DAQmx 9.2 drivers (the first to include LabVIEW 2010 support).
Additionally, If you were using Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) 7.4.4 VIs in a prior version of LabVIEW, you must do one of the following:
          1. Uninstall current Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) 7.4.4 installation and re-install after completing LabVIEW 2010 installation.
Reason: Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) installs support only for the latest version of LabVIEW found on the system.
    Or
          2. Copy the the "<previous LabVIEW>\vi.lib\Daq" directory and all it contents to a new "<LabVIEW 2010\vi.lib\Daq directory.  This way you can use Traditional NI-DAQ in both versions of LabVIEW.

I didn't have DVDs, I had to download.
Yes it was a mess.  The device driver download took forever (NI can't help that).  The installation took beyond forever (what else can be done?).
I was disappointed that I had to do all of this backing up of legacy folders and restoring them after installing the device drivers.  Why does NI always have device drivers and toolkits install to the latest version of Labview only?  Why couldn't they leave the legacy stuff alone??  I still use LV2009 and wanted to try LV2010.  This involved a whole lot of trouble and time.
NI needs to provide a much easier way to upgrade, while still allowing previous versions to work without modification.  Most people who upgrade will not completely abandon the older versions.

Installing the Latest Version of DataSocket and DataSocket Server
    Problem:
I would like to download and install the current version of National Instruments DataSocket and/or DataSocket Server on my computer. Where can I find the latest version of this to download it from National Instruments' website?
    Solution:
The latest release of the DataSocket libraries and the DataSocket Server is installed with the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. Go to the Drivers and Updates web page at ni.com and search for "LabVIEW Run-Time Engine" and sort by Version to find the most recent version of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine.

    Hi Bob,
Yes, this info got burried.  Basically, it's a tool for building LabVIEW-based software products.  It is highly flexible/extensible and tries to fill the holes left by LabVIEW's built-in Application Builder.  Here are some good links to more info:

  • Does LabVIEW have support for entering Urdu language script?

    Hi All!
My LabVIEW application requires users to enter their observations in a string control which is then stored in an excel file.
Now the issue is that the user wants to enter the data in Urdu language.
Now my question is, Does LabVIEW have support for entering Urdu language script in a string control?
If yes how can I implement this? If no, is there any possibility that National Instruments could extend some help in this regard upon request?
    Regards,
    Reeves

My experience from Hebrew, which is also right to left, is that it can be done if the operating system supports it, but it will work badly if you include anything in the text which is not an Urdu letter. This causes it to be displayed in the wrong side of the control and is only solved if you add more Urdu text after it.
One option you can try is including an ActiveX control (such as the rich text box) for editing the text and then you can probably get the text from it using a property. I don't remember trying it (my users don't usually need to input Hebrew text themselves), but I think it should work. I wouldn't have any hopes for NI doing anything about this, because it's considered to be a relatively small market.

  • NI-DNET support for LabVIEW 2013

We are using currently NI-DNET 1.6.6 with LabVIEW 2011. I installed now also LabVIEW 2013 on my computer and tried to sync the set of drivers with my LabVIEW 2011 installation.
Well, it seems that NI-DNET doesn't support LabVIEW 2013, at least officially. The NI-DNET and LabVIEW Version Compatibility shows that NI-DNET 1.6.6 supports LabVIEW 2011 and NI-DNET 1.6.7 supports LabVIEW 2012.
The NI System Driver Set November 2013 list NI-DNET 1.6.7 as part of the driver set. When I try to install it, there is no LabVIEW 2013 support.
My question is actually, if there is a plan to include NI-DNET support for LabVIEW 2013 or later in the driver set?
I copied the vi.lib\DeviceNet and vi.lib\nidnet directories from LabVIEW 2011 to 2013 and I can load my programs without any problems. I still didn't build an executable and didn't run them on the test fixture, but the projects can be loaded in LabVIEW 2013 without any brocken VIs. Should I expect any problems running LabVIEW 2013 with the NI-DNET 1.6.6 or 1.6.7 driver?
    Nick
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I would update our drivers right away, but unfortunately the NI-Industrial Communications for DeviceNet doesn't support the PCI-DNET cards. We have probably close to 30 of those in the test fixtures. So, we need to use the NI-DNET 1.6.x driver anyway.
It will be nice if the NI-DNET installer can copy the NI-DNET VIs and supporting files to any LabVIEW version, well maybe any 201x. I hope until 2020 we can replace the old cards :-)

  • Adaptation of LIFA (LabVIEW Interface For Arduino) to other Arduino compatible boards

    Hello evryone,
I am trying to use a ''Sakura board", which is an Arduino compatible board, having similar programming as Arduino. This board is manufactured by Renesas; more specifications on it can be found on the following link: http://sakuraboard.net/gr-sakura_en.html
What I would like to know, is if the firmware used for LIFA to interface Arduino with labview, or the ChipKit firmaware, can be used to this kind of Arduino compatible boards.
My aim, is to use the Sakura Board for acquiring signals from various pins(Be it digital or analog), and setting other pins (Digital) parralelly, using labVIEW, as this is done using LIFA, or LabVIEW interface for ChiKit!!
Thanks in advance for your support.

I haven't had any experience with the Sakura board, so can only go on the information on the website.
I've used the Arduino LabVIEW interface previously, and it basically uses serial communications between the PC and the Arduino. This serial interface is provided by the on-board USB-serial converter (an ATMega8u2 running custom firmware).
From what I can tell about the Sakura, it appears as a storage device when plugging into a PC, and doesn't seem to have a USB to serial converter. If this is the case, then the LIFA toolkit won't work. That said, my understanding of the Sakura board may be incorrect (for example I'm unsure what operation modes the slide switch changes between). If you can confirm it has a USB-serial port then LIFA may work. I guess the key thing is that the serial port is required.
You may be able to use a software serial port (http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/SoftwareSerial) on the Sakura to communicate with a PC, though that would require a PC with a serial port, or an external USB-serial converter. This approach would also require you to modify the LIFA arduino code (located in vi.lib\LabVIEW Interface for Arduino\Firmware\LIFA_Base) to reference the software serial port. It's probably a long shot that this will work, as the software serial library has been written for AVR chips, making use of their specific internal timers.

  • LabVIEW possibilities for Android and embedded systems

    Dear Sir or Madam,
We are building some test environments based on your software and now we have came into discussions about future possibilities with LabVIEW. As there is a lot of information available we are getting a little bit confused about what we can do and what not with our current software. Now we own the "LabVIEW full development System for Windows" and we are interested in analysing the possibility of buying your application builder. The problem is that we would like to address, at least, two different issues with LabVIEW:
1st: we want to build controllers and self executable applications that work in Windows, Linux, MAC and Android. I've read many possibilities on the internet about LabVIEW but I'm not sure about what systems are officially supported, so: Is it possible to build Apps for these three systems from the Windows App Builder? Is there support for Android? Do Linux Apps run with Android?
2nd: The second issue is to embed LabVIEW into small microcontrollers to deploy our custom System managers and controllers. Is this possible? I've seen the ARM toolkit but I am not sure about what functionality of LabVIEW is available there. Can all the functions be used? Can it be customized to any device that is ARM? Is it possible to port to non-ARM devices or DSPs???
    Thanks in advance.

You would probably be better off talking to your local NI rep.  Clicking the contact NI tab at the top of your browser would be a good place to start if you do not know your local rep.
