    Greetings

  • I have a PowerMac G5 using an Edimax EW-7811Un that is unable to communicate over Bonjour with other systems on our network

I have a PowerMac G5 using an Edimax EW-7811Un that is unable to communicate over Bonjour with other systems on our network.  On occassion, I can see it appear on iChat on our Network but it doesn't receive any incoming traffic and will drop off soon after.
The PowerMac G5 does not see any other system over Bonjour.
Any help or solutions for getting my PowerMac G5 to be visible on our network would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -Phil

I do not understand why you are using Bonjour.  You should be able to configure the g5 to use your router for network setup.
Do you have all of your devices using the same router?  You should.
I'm assuming this is a small configuration with one router.

  • Extremely slow performance transferring data over USB with Time Capsule

I have the 2TB wireless Time Capsule. I have it setup as an extension to my current WiFi at home, since I already had a WLAN router. I have an external harddrive (500gig) that I connected to my Time Capsule because I wanted to transfer data from the Time Capsule to the external HD. The external HD is formatted with FAT32 file system, so read/write is no problem.
When, using my MacBook Pro, I navigated to the Time Capsule and dragged files over to the connected USB harddrive (connected directly in the Time Capsule), the performance to transfer is extremely SLOW! It was slower than doing the transfer completely wirelessly (USB drive connected to laptop and transfer wirelessly from TC)!
I do not understand this at all! It should be a simple transfer using the USB connection! When I do a transfer from my laptop directly to the USB harddrive, with it connected directly to the laptop, the transfers are super fast!
What happened? Can someone please explain this or tell me what I need to do?
    Thank you!

    I am still confused here.
My original question was regarding the use of my USB external harddrive. It was connected to the back of the TC. The TC was wirelessly speaking to my WLAN router. Using my laptop (also wirelessly speaking to WLAN router), I navigated to the TC and saw 2 listings - one for the data on the harddrive in the TC and one for the new external USB drive connected to the back of the TC. I wanted to transfer data from the harddrive in the TC to the USB external drive. Based on what I expected, I thought the transfer rate would merely be limited by the USB 2.0 interface that is being used by the external drive. However, I was definitely wrong! The transfer rate (shown by the estimate in time to transfer the data by my MacBook Pro) was doubled to 14 hrs.
Originally, it was only 7 hrs when the USB external drive is connected directly to my laptop and I connect to the TC wirelessly. Weird!
So why doesn't the TC simply transfer the data from its internal harddrive to the external USB drive directly without using any wireless technology?
The second question I have is regarding the setup of the TC itself. I have a NetGear WLAN router and its an "n" router. So the speed is good. I have my TC currently downstairs from the WLAN router. Therefore the TC is setup as simply a wireless harddrive. It speaks through the WLAN router in order to be available to all my laptops in my house. My question is whether it should instead be directly connected to the WLAN router using an ethernet cable? Would this improve my overall transfer rates to/from the TC?
    Thanks so much.

  • I cannot communicate via usb with my printer

My intel imac running 10.5.8 stopped communicating with my CX7400 Epson printer today. All of the usb ports work fine with keyboard and iphone and camera but not the printer. I've tried reinstalling the printer software and spoke with an Epson tech who said I had an issue with my usb ports. The printer works fine when I plug it into other printers. Is there a reset process to restore full functionality of the ports or am I possibly facing a hardware issue?

Try these suggestions.  Hopefully, one of them will work:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1151 USB & FireWire Tips and Troubleshooting
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Snow Leopard & Lion Printer solutions and suggestions.
Install the Gutenprint and Gimp-Print for Mac OS X (10.2 and later) drivers.
Boot up from your Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key. Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is unable to complete the repair you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer.

Wiping the device may have been for a specific problem. That solution is not the norm.

  • Ant+ USB with LabVIEW

Hello. Has anyone attempted to read sensor info via Ant+ USB into LabVIEW? I have some code that sort of works... regardless of whether I use the Dynastream provided driver or create a VISA driver using VISA Driver Wizard, I get the following errors in the LabVIEW VI "VISA Open":
"The specified VISA resource is not a USB device"
"Error -1073807346 occurred at VISA Open. Possible reasons: The given session or object reference is invalid."
I've tried using both "VISA Defaults" and "Load Configured Settings" for the "access mode" of the resource.
Any insight would be appreciated. LabVIEW code is attached. The main program is "Ahad_Vectorfinalpstruct_JFA" in JFA_Mod\Jamie.
    Thanks,
    -Jamie

    Hi jfalesi,
This is Roel in Applications Engineering at NI. Some more information about your project might be helpful in assisting you. Are you able to see the device in NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)? If so, have you done a self-test? If yes to this also, try using the VISA test panels to interactively communicate with your task. Before troubleshooting code, it is best to follow these steps to ensure that the computer can indeed communicate with the resource.
    Best of luck!

  • Comiucation computer usb with labview

    Hi
I want to communicate us computer with labviwe but I don't know how can I do it?
Can you tell me please how can I communicate between computer usb and labview?
    Thanks you .

The USB interface on the pcb has to be implemented by something. Do you have a microcontroller, or something like that? If you don't know much about USB communication, then this will be very difficult for you. In addition to the KB article I mentioned before, it would be worth your time to read this nugget: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&thread.id=340676.
If you haven't implemented anything yet in hardware, you may want to consider chips like those sold by FTDI which can provide a virtual COM (serial) port interface for applications via their drivers.

  • HP Photosmart C4380 [8A36CB] communication error with MacBook OS 10.7.5 over wireless

    Hi,
I keep getting the message 'communication error' when trying to print wireless to a Photosmart C4380 from my MacBook (OS 10.7.5) through a TimeCapsule 2Gb router.
The message also says: "/usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed" but I don't know what to do with it...
I tried to de- and re-install, restart laptop, printer and router and pull all plugs in different sequences, first use the USB cable to install wireless and all other help from HP ... but nothing seems to work (HP Doctor is not available for Mac).
    The strange part is that:
1.it started a couple of weeks ago, without having changed anything (by my knowledge),
    2. printing from my iMac works fine (same wireless network, same software version, same settings, etcetera)!!!
    2. printing over USB from my MacBook works fine
    3. I can print a test-page from "HP Utility" form my MacBook (and of course from my iMac but that one works fine anyway)
    4. I can access the printer through "http://hp8a36cb.local./index.htm?cat=info&page=printerInfo" and there are no issues mentioned whatsoever,
    5. the 'HP Network Configuration Page' and the 'Wireless Network Test Report' congratulate me on the successful setup of my wireless printer... but it doesn't work.
I've read almost all posts about communication errors over wireless but haven't found an answer to my issue (yet).
Is there anyone with a solution? Please??
    This question was solved.

    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • IPhoto does not sync with iPhone over USB anymore

    I'm using iPhoto '11 (9.4.2) on OS X 10.8.2 and an iPhone 4S (now with iOS 6.1.2).
A few months ago when I connected my iPhone over USB iPhoto would start and do the expected workflow as it still does when I connect any other camera: Import the new images and delete them on the iPhone.
Since around I installed iOS 6 on the iPhone iPhoto will not start anymore when the iPhone is connected. When started manually it will show the iPhone but not recognize any new images.
I don't (want to) use Fotostream.
I have looked for other answers and the usually suggested restarting / resetting has not helped.

Have tried changing libraries to backups on external but same result.  They work but not recognized by other programs. All are named iphoto library

  • How can a LabView process communicate with a Visual c++ process

How can a single Labview process communicate with another Visual c++ Process?
Both Application are running separately. The LabView  Application must have the Possibility to send command to the C++ Application and receive Data from this process.
    Thanks.

    Thank y for your answer.
The c++ application has already been written but don´t have an external interface.
The LabView application can have an activeX  interface other dlls.
Do you have some LabView example code using activeX interface other another Method to communicate with a c++ application?
I have no practical experience with the interprocess communication.
Any example in LabView will help me.

  • Labiew lib for modbus over RS485 over USB

    Hi,
I have the following problem which I would be grateful for any help to solve.
I have a digital meter device (lumel NA5) which has RS485 interface, and modbus protocol over it.
A possible solution I'm contemplating is to get a RS485 to USB converter, and then talk to the device from Labview.
I found Labview library for serial and TCP/IP modbus. But is it possible to connect to this device using UCB?
     Thanks,
    Eyal.

    You can use this
    1-Port RS485/422 Interface for USB
or if you need more ports...
2-Port RS485/422 Serial Interface for USB
4-Port RS485/422 Serial Interface for USB
With this device the serial ports will show up like any other COM port, you can target it in LabVIEW or third party software.

My external device is having male USB connector. The cable available in market are having can be plugged to the device having female connector.I will need converter in between as my device is having male connector. Can i get such cable? If yes can i establish communication in between my app and device over these cables.I am not passing any audio/video data or photos.I am sending data frames. My device is having firmware and it sends data frames in firmware understandable format. Let me know can i have two way communication in between over USB/BT?
Right now i am connecting my device with host PC and i want to replace my host PC with ipad.

    Thanks....
will it be possible to establish communication in between my device and app. Because camera conection kit only transfers photos and videos and my device doesnt have any audio/video data.
If yes, should i add photo header to my frames and will send as corrupted photo file or what needs to implement so that i can have sound communication in between.
