LaCie 324i for colour grading through display port

I'm in the process of getting rid of my iMac and getting one of the new Macbook Pro Retinas. Reason being I need to go mobile and the two thunderbolt outputs mean I can run a pair of external monitors.
I'm a video editor and I want to start learning the final part of post production that, so far, I've never touched; colour grading. I am not a geek when it comes to kit (I'll start learning the science and art of grading now, learn about hardware later haha).
My plan is to hook up my cheap 24 inch monitor to the macbook retina just for more real estate and get a LaCie 324i monitor for firstly again more real estate but secondly so that one of my screens is up to the job of grading. The software I'll be using is DaVinci's resolve lite and Speedgrade (when I upgrade from CS5.5 to CS6).
Am I missing anything here? The LaCie monitor is 96% gamut of adobe RGB and is 10 bit. When using display port as far as I know it allows you to actually be running at 10 bit (which as far as I know is whats the basic need for a cheapish grading monitor). The other monitor I was looking at is the Eizo Coloredge CG223W.
Anyone know if these monitors will do the job for me (the Eizo is a good 400 quid cheaper but the LaCie has some different inputs..."Component x1 (3p RCA jack female"...whats that?)
Will a Macbook retina, one of those screens and resolve/speedgrade get me grading with the only hold back factor being myself and skill??? Is there anything I havnt thought of. I can probably budget about 1000 GBP for the monitor...

Is it best to just use the display port input or buy something lie;

Best workflow for colour grading in CS5.5

What is the best workflow for colour grading in Premiere Pro CS5.5? I don't like the 3 way colour grader in Premire I like to use Levels and Curves, so I normaly use Color Finese 3 LE in After Effects but it's hard to export an entire timeline to AE due to it not improting transitions and title text correctly.
I see in CS6 there is now Speed Grade available from Premiere Pro. can you export your entire timeline into Speed grade and it retain your titles and trasitions?
So how are most folks colour grading their finished timelines in Premire Pro?

If I can CC in Pr, I will. What prevents me from staying in Pr is if I need to do a lot of masking, secondary type corrections. Ae is better for that, IMO.
I guess my general rule is, "The more love I need to put on my footage, the more likely it is I'll need to take the project to Ae."
When I do CC in Pr, my tools of choice are RGB Curves (which is CUDA friendly, and I have a CUDA card) for CC, and I use Three-Way or Fast CC mostly for increasing saturation. I leave the other controls alone.
The advantage to doing CC in Pr, is the CUDA accelleration. If you use CUDA effects, you can work a lot faster, due to less rendering. Once you go to Ae, you lose CUDA, but you gain flexibility. Therefore, there's not a single one-size-fits-all answer.
I also have a lot more available plugs in Ae. I like Frischluft Curves, which is an oustanding curves based plug. And the native Hue/Saturation effect in Ae is extremely useful for single hue corrections. Pr doesn't have a similar native effect.
And then as a last step, after getting all my corrections "evened out," I'll add Magic Bullet Looks to an adjustment layer for an overall treatment.
I only opened SpeedGrade once after installing it. I don't see why anybody would use it, unless they were already familiar with it. You can't go back to Pr easily. And in my world, projects are rarely finished. Clients think they can make massive changes at any stage of post, even after mastering and delivery. I've had clients make changes to spots after they've been airing for several days. I laugh at editors who name anything "final."

Workflow for colour grading PremiereCS5 with Colorista2

I'm one of the only humans on this planet who doesn't use After Effects but my excuse is that I work in production, not post, so please excuse this question if it's the equivalent of asking how to focus.
I'd like to use Colorista2 to grade a 5min PremiereCS5 project. Colorista2 is only about 70% functional in Premiere right now but it seems to be working much better in After Effects and since I have the CS5 Production Premium, I should be able to grade in After Effects right?
I've read much of the help files related to Dynamic Link but I need some help with the workflow. If I File/Import/Premiere Pro Project all the individual clips but not on a timeline. If I File/Adobe Dynamic Link/Import Premiere Pro Sequence the timeline shows up but all as one clip on the After Effects timeline. I've tried posting to the Premiere forum without success. What would the proper workflow be for colour grading in After Effects?

Ahhhh....found it. I didn't see the Premiere sequence converted to a composition as it was burried 3/4 of the way down the stack.
I graded the first dozen shots or so of the sequence with Colorista2 and then used File/Export/Adobe Premiere Pro Project, saved it as Filename_Graded, then opened it in Premiere. The shots that were all on a single video track were now scattered over six but they played back correctly so I guess that's not a big problem. The real problem is that while the graded clips show that Colorista was applied to the clips, the adjustments were't applied. All the settings are nulled out.
My question now is: Is my workflow correct and this is an issue with Colorista2 or is there a way to have the Colorista2 settings make their way between these two programs?

P2415Q - No display over DVI, HDMI. No menu. Worked perfectly for one month over display port

Reason Line: Dell P2415Q. After one month working perfectly over display port, no display on screen over Display Port or HDMI, no response to menu buttons, backlight and power LED on but no image on screen.
Problem Description
The monitor worked out of the box for one month using the display port to mini display port cable provided with the monitor, which was plugged into my XFX 7970 and 7950 graphics cards. It supported 4K at 60Hz and was exceptional for photos, videos and games. On Wednesday the monitor stopped working, no image or menu is displayed on the monitor. I plugged in my old monitor to help diagnose via DVI from the same graphics card. When I press the power button on the Dell P2415Q monitor, the power LED lights up and the computer detects the monitor (as shown in the windows screen resolution menu). It sets it as a secondary display but the monitor remains black, I can see the power LED and backlight is on. No power saving mode popup appears on the monitor, when I press the menu buttons there is no response from the screen, it remains black. I repeated with a HDMI cable the same issue occurs with no response or image. I repeated and disabled crossfire (which allows the graphics cards to function independently) and tried the second graphics card with no response. I tested the HDMI cable I used on my old LG monitor, it works well. I have tried connecting a laptop over HDMI to the monitor too, with no response from the monitor. I have exhausted all the tests I can think of, I presume I will have to return the monitor for repair or replacement under warranty. A question to the dell rep and community - is there anything else I can try / do to get it working?

Computer: Non-Dell, self build about 2 years ago. Ivy Bridge i5, Gigabyte Sniper Motherboard, 16GB RAM, XFX 7970 GPU and XFGX 7950 GPU in crossfire, 256GB SSD, 860W Corsair AX power supply (860W on 12V rails). Windows 7, 64-bit. (Secondary Monitor LG D2342).
Operating System: Windows 7, 64 Bit.
Video Card: XFX 7970 and XFX 7950 in Crossfire (tested separately, monitor produces fault with both).
Video Card Driver: 14.12 AMD Catalyst Driver (rolled back to older driver, monitor still produces fault).
Video Card Output Ports: Tested with miniDP and HDMI on both cards, with crossfire enabled and disabled. Monitor still produces fault.
Video Card Cable: miniDP to DP cable provided with monitor. HDMI cable, tested with alternate monitor to confirm it functions correctly.
Monitor Menu Button: Non responsive, when power is turned on the computer successfully detects the Dell P2415Q monitor, the backlight turns on but no image appear on the screen. Pressing the menu buttons yields no result - menu does not appear on the screen. Power LED is on.
Monitor Purchase: Purchased from Overclockers.co.uk March 2015.

* Disconnect all cables from the monitor including the power cable
* Press the monitor power button in for 15 seconds
* Reconnect the monitor cables and re-test. If still no go, your only option is to get it exchanged per the purchased warranty
* But first the service tag must be transferred into your name using this form

I've got a DeckLink 4K Extreme and Premiere Pro CS6. I am wondering what is the best monitor to plug it into for colour grading (via Speed Grade or Da Vinci Resolve Lite), as are the rest of you, it seems. As 4K monitors are now coming out I wondered about the Dell UltraSharp UP2414Q, connected via HDMI:

Is that difference between 8bit and 10bit going to seriously hamper me? Is there a 10bit 4K monitor in my price range or should I go for a 10bit 2K monitor?
(And yes, I know the DeckLink 4K Extreme is a hefty piece of kit for plugging into a 'relatively' cheap monitor but rather nice circumstances meant I ended up with one, albeit with no suitable monitor.)

So I have a Mac Book Pro with a bootcamp Windows 8. I dual monitor on the Mac side with my Mid 2011 iMac through my mini display port via thunder bolt cable. In my perfect world, I would be able to switch to the Windows side and have the iMac mirror or extend my windows display for my gaming pleasure, etc. I'm not sure if it's just a simple driver or that it cannot be done. I have a macbook pro, a mini display port to hdmi cable to hook up to my tv (a toshiba 1080p flatscreen). what do I do to actually get the image on the tv screen? Do I need another cable for sound?

I am trying to watch a tv show that I purchased into I-tunes. I have the cable and it hooks to the TV okay. The TV shows the regular apple screen that looks like the universe screen - like when it boots up or is doing an upgrade on the OS. I can't get the image to go from the laptop to the TV. I tried under displays and it shows the TV as a display but I can't get the image on the TV.......Please help.

If you connect yourMacBook using a MiniDVI/HDMI adapter you will need to use external speakers for audio since the pre-2010 MacBooks will only send video through the MiniDVI or MiniDisplay Port . The MiniDVI/HDMI doesn't carry audio and there's no audio plugs on the TV to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If your TV has a DVI input plug you can use a MiniDisplayPort/DVI adapter. Then a DVI cable to the DVI input plug on the TV. The TV will have RCA audio plugs for use with the DVI. Plus DVI gives a sharper image than HDMI.

Does anybody know what the problem is? My HDMI cable is from "rocketfish" also my display port is too.

You may have the screen refresh rate set higher than the TV is generally able to track reliably. It may be able to get there most times, but occasionally loses sync because it is out of its nominal range.
I suggest you sit down with the manual for the TV and find out what resolutions at what refresh rates it intends to support through VGA, and make sure your screen settings are near (or below) those limits.

Does my MacBook passes audio through Mini Display Port or not?

I recently bought a Mini DisplayPort > HDMI adapter in order to display my MacBook on my TV. Other users of the same adapter publicly stated that they got video AND audio out, but I got only video.
I've been searching this online for two days now and I still don't know why (I even searched this support forum, but I must admit that I got a little lost and decided to write my own topic). All I discovered was that some MacBooks have this capacity (to port audio along with video through Mini DisplayPort) and others don't.
I'm using a white MacBook unibody bought new and latest on late 2009. It's the first model with multitouch trackpad and without FireWire port. Its model name is "MacBook 6,1", I guess.
Does anybody know for sure if It CAN, in fact deliver audio+video through the Mini DisplayPort if I'm using a compatible HDMI adapter?

For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver. Use something like this:

Hi there I am connecting a Canon 5D to my laptop trying to use it as a webcam trough camtwist.
At the same time I need to output the streaming to a videoprojector.
The cam is connected to the mini display port do there is no port available for the VGA cable anymore.
Do I need to use a different port for the projector? Should I buy a video card?
Can't connect the camera via USB as that is too slow and it will freeze.

I just ran a software update for Java and MacBook Pro SMC, now my Mini Display Port to HDMI TV is not working. The TV is flickering. The Mac Display is fine.

I was just watching / streaming TV off Safari on my actual TV.
I'm using a Mini-Display Port to HDMI cable for the connection to the external display.
Software update popped-up and said there was an update for Java and for SMC.
I ran the update and upon the computer restarting, my external display (my TV) is no longer working. It is now flickering.
It won't work in Mirroring or set up as an extended display.
I've reset SMC / PRAM / Safe Mode / Even restored from a Time Machine backup (From before the updates were done).
What could it be?!

I keep saying this over and over, in the hope that people who do a search will find it. Apple cannot possibly test for or be reponsible for the bazillion combinations of adapter, cables, and TV's out there. The only monitors that are 100% guaranteed to work with the MacBook Pro are the Cinema Displays and Thunderbolt Displays, because, they're made by Apple. They're expensive, but they work perfectly.
My guess is that you bought a cheap MDP to HDMI cable, or have a defective one. From my reading of these boards over the past few months, cheap cables have a high failure rate. And the regular priced ones have only a slightly less of one. Try a new one. Make sure you do not damage the Thunderbolt port.

I have no proof, but I think it will not work with an adapter, only Mini Display Port or Thunderbolt.
