LaCie HD does not mount via Firewire, but does via USB (in Tiger)

I've read various posts on issues people faced when using a LaCie firewire HD after upgrading to Tiger. I never had any issues pre upgrade. I have installed the new firmware on my d2 250GB drive, at least I think I have. The drive will not mount when connected via firewire, but will when connected via USB. When I try running the update tool, it sees the drive and says there is no update available. Just to be clear, this is when the drive is connected via USB. The tool does not see the drive when connected via Firewire.
My firewire is definitely working fine (tested with iSight).
I've emailed LaCie, we'll see if that leads to anything. Any ideas???

My Lacie ethernet mini is not working after Lion upgrade.
Finally got an admission from Lacie that the login software won't work with 10.7 and they suggested going back to Snow Leopard . . .
Apparently the login software cannot be changed or overwritten so now Lacie drives are obsolete when using Lion.
I wish there was a way to wipe it clean and use it without the login software, but they couldn't suggest a way.
I note you may have had better luck but I don't know how to use terminal, so I may have to junk it, or possibly take out the drive and buy a caddy for it?

Since 10.4.4 my external drive is no more recognized using firewire, but it mounts perfectly with USB
Using FW request me to reinitialize the disk, but then, the apple disk utility it is unable to reformat!
then I unplug FW , sets USB and everything is ok!
I connected the drive to my old IMac G4 700 and evrything is fine, FW and USB, using the same drive, using the same cable. I did repeat the test many times it is always ok with the old mac and it never mounts with FW on my newer Ibook.
I did reset the openfirmware but that was not successfull!
Then I brought both iBook and the faulty Drive to a friend (he owns a powerbook and also an external drive)
we verified that my drive does not mount on his powerbook G4 12" using FW and is ok with USB.
Then he tried his external drive and was very surprised to find the same fault with his drive and his PB using FW. (as for me everything is ok with USB!)
We are both very puzzled, our drives did work well before, (before 10.4.4 , and 10.4.5 did not improve!)
and now, with firewire,disks never mounts..
In addition I tried with the same cable to alternatively start, using the target mode, the ibook and the imac. For each test they were both recognized as external drives as they should..
So to try to sum up
- Disk mount ok with USB (1 or 2)
- Disk is no more recoknized with FW (but it was before with the exact same hadrware)
- FW Cable seems to be ok as targuet mode works properly
has anybody any idee?

Hi Andre, I can't remember except to say that it was mounting fine with tiger and I was able to copy files to it for backup purposes.
I just hooked it up to a PC and windows tells me the drive is not formatted. That's not a good sign, and this was stupid: I think I had the drive hooked up to my Mac Pro during the upgrade.
Idiotic, granted. But this was an upgrade, not a full install and I maybe was trusting in Apple's ability not to do extraneous stuff during an install like windows does. Oh well...

Maxtor OneTouch III does not mount with Firewire

My Maxtor OneTouch III does not mount with Firewire.
I changed both cables, and ports on the drive to try with my 400 port on the MacBook Pro.
The drive will start up, the light will flash, remain steady, flash again. And then just as the Mac finishes booting, the light turns off and it does not mount.
It works just fine with a USB cable. But I bought it so it could be used as a firewire drive.
Other firewire drives work.

Has this external HDD ever worked while connected with FireWire? (In other words, did the drive just stop working via FireWire, or is this the first time you've tried to hook it up via FireWire?) Does it work over FireWire on another Mac?
If the answer to those questions is no, it's likely that the firewire ports on the external HDD are bad.

Run MDP to HDMI for picture. Use a cable like this to run sound from your audio out on your Mac to your TV's audio in. That's about all you can do.

Thanks for your lengthy reminder dude, I have a similar Mac with yours. I suspect its a software fault because it happens after I upgraded to Lion, 10.7.2.

Thanks for posting your example. You may want to remove your workspace details from the previous posting, or at least update the password on the workspace. I've taken a look at your example and initially couldn't see anything wrong with your tree query. However, when I ran your query in SQL Workshop, it only returned one row, which would explain why you were only seeing one node in your tree! I've updated your query to use a WITH clause, and the tree is now working correctly. I believe you've hit an underlying database bug where the CONNECT BY query is only returning 1 row, when in fact it should return > 1 row. By re-writing the query to use a WITH clause, you can get around the problem.

I have reinstalled Adobe Flash Player many times and also reinstalled Firefox, but flash player does not work. Every tim I try to play something it tells me to install the latest version of flash player. Flash player works fine on on Windows Explorer

IE uses a different version of Flash (ActiveX) than other browsers use, you need to install the Plugin version of Flash.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here:

Save it to your Desktop. 
2. Close Firefox using File > Exit 
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed,

The text highlight icon in hotmail rich text toolbar does not display in firefox but does in IE

Java is listed as enabled under Firefox Tools/Add-ons/PlugIns and the Java Test confirms the latest version is installed and working.
Additional information. When I click on Grid it displays the solution but still with the lines of the grid missing.

Mapquest sign in box does not appear in Firefox but does in Internet Explorer. Why? Have disabled add ons but no luck.

The sign in box does not show up on Mapquest when I use Firefox. If I use Internet Explorer, the sign in box appears. I disabled the Firefox add-ons thinking there might be a conflict but no luck. Mapquest support is at a dead end, too, especially with it working in IE but not in Firefox. Suggestions?

Okay the MSI Gaming App works just fine under my own account on my PC on which I am the administrator. So it isn't a driver related issue.
Last week I created a second account for my son as he also like to play some games but I dont want him messing up my account.
I wanted to start the MSI Gaming App on his account as my son was going to play a more graphic demanding game but the MSI Gaming App is only giving me the warning: the platform does not support this application.
I checked the Security and Permissions for Authentication they all set like they should which works fine for other software and applications.
Even when I try to run the app as administrator it keeps coming back with this warning.
Anyone got clue why? Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious but till now I still didn't get the MSI Gaming App to run like it should. Some help please.

My sons has his own profile/account on my pc so the hardware config and installed drivers are exact the same. And on my profile the App is working fine. So it has nothing to do with mobo/drivers/vga/specs. I already had installed the App before I created his own profile. As administrator I added all the needed permissions to the MSIGamingApp Properties Security Tab. Like I did with all other software he is running on his profile and which are working just fine. For example Teamspeak, Mumble, Several games, MSOffice and so on. I even set the Permissions to Full Control like on my Administrator profile. At the Permission Entry for MSIGamingApp I let the permissions be inherited from the parent object my administrator profile.
If I would re-install and if during the installation windows would ask for whom the software should be accessible. I only would let Windows do exact the same as I did as administrator in the App Properties Security Tab. That the nice thing about being an admin. Create profile, set permissions and let users on your pc or network access software and applications already installed on the network. So that is why I find it weird this doesnt work.
Also running the MSIGamingApp as Administrator on his profile gives the exact same warning.
I do know how to add permissions to the security tab have been doing that several years for some job I had once.
I could use Afterburner maybe but I don't trust him yet with making changes in Afterburner.
The MSIGamingApp gives just enough controls OC-Gaming-Silent mode.
And in case of trying a re-install of the App anyone got an url for a new version?

Openaena does not find internet servers, but does find favorites

Hi all,
when i start openarena and then choose mulitplayer -> internet I get the message "No response from master server"
Strangely, when I uncheck all boxes (only humans, hide private etc) and hit refresh, I do get a list of servers. When I then re-check the bottem 2 checkboxes I still get a list of servers.
I don't get it. Does anybody know what causes this serverlist to sometimes to not show up?

The alternate method would be something like this (see link below). There are different instructions for bridging your modem depending on which dsl modem you have. You'd just have to google for them. You won't be able to login to the dsl modem after you bridge using the 192.168.1.254, but if for some reason you wanted to.......you'd just have to press and hold the reset button on the dsl modem for around 10 seconds with a ballpoint pen to take it out of bridge mode. Of course you would have to put it back in to bridge mode if you wish to continue with this setup.
After you put your AT&T dsl modem in to bridge mode, you more or less use the default factory settings on the WRT120 except for the following:
1. Change connection type to PPPoE
2. Enter your AT&T dsl account's user name and password
3 Set MTU to manual and enter 1492
4. Make sure "keep alive" for 30 seconds is enabled
5. Change your wireless security to WPA or preferably WPA2 and use a strong password
6. Change your router's password....don't use admin.
7. Connect wan to wan (internet port to internet port) on dsl modem and your WRT120n
and you should have internet with no problems. If it won't connect to internet, just unplug both the dsl modem and the WRT120 for 30 seconds and reboot your computer and plug the dsl modem and WRT120 back in. If your wireless signal fluctuates, you can try changing the channel on the WRT120.
Here is a program called inSSIDer that helps you determine what wireless channels that other people are using in your proximity so you can find a channel that is available (not in use).

Do not confuse Shockwave for Director and Shockwave Flash.

Generate image assets "default" does not work in CC but does in CC 2014

When I use "default -this" in a layer in photoshop cc it does not change the file names. In CC 2014 the same file works as expect.

I installed Image Processor Pro quite some time ago. I extracted the extension package and just copied the two files "Image Processor Pro.xml" and "Image Processor Pro.jsx" into Photoshop's versions Presets\Scripts. I normally install things I add to Photoshop into my own folders outside any Adobe installation folder. Image Processor Pro is an exception because I did not want to modify X's code. Image Processor Pro is coded in a way to find which version of Photoshop is being run from and looks for its default xml file in that version Presets\scripts\ folder.
The script may save your modficaions to its defalt xml file into you user ID application data areas. And you can save you own Image Processor Pro presets configurations.
I run Windows not Mac though.
