LACK of Apple Support!!!! (iTunes help)

I have 2 computers I've tried to upgrade my iTunes for. Both failed and now I don't have any operational iTunes program available. Which means, I can't update my iPod with new songs as iTunes does not work on either computer.
One computer reads: "Invalid Drive: G//" which is not a drive on my computer
The other reads: "Invalid signature"
This has been going on for several months now and I've tried EVERY thing that I've read in these posts or anywhere else online. Apple won't help unless you just purchased their program in the last 90 days. What terrible customer service!!! I was going to buy a few more iPods this Christmas for people, but what is the point if thier programs won't work and they won't help.
If anybody else has any suggestions on how to fix, PLEASE let me know.

I hear what you are saying. I have a pair of, now, older 5th generation iPods. My iTunes that I run is still only up to 7.0.2 and the only reason I upgraded from iTunes 6 to iTunes 7 is that when I got my newer 80GB 5th generation iPod, it required iTunes7 to work so I was forced to upgrade. But since then I have not bothered for fear of something not working right. Because none of the recent upgrade have offered any sort of feature I need or want, I am sticking with what I have. My iPods also still run whatever firmware versions they came with.
I agree that it is rather weird that Apple often makes a new line of iPods REQUIRE whatever the latest version of iTunes that is currently available, even if there is no apparent feature or requirement that only is available in that version of iTunes.
As to the Open Source software forums you belong to, those are completely different beast since those are people who are enthusiastic about the software and do it for fun and do not get paid, so the mind set is completely different than something like Apple which is a company that does it for the profit and it is not in their best interest to spend too much time on issues that effect small numbers of people. I am sure you will find the same level of "silence" from Microsoft, Adobe, Yahoo, Google, or any of the other major commercial software developing companies.
It is rather surprising the lack of Open Source efforts to replace iTunes. I can only guess that people in general like iTunes so there hasn't been a big effort to replace it with something else. Besides wanting a better product, the other reason for Open Source software is price of the original. Since iTunes is free, that sort of squashes that incentive as well. So to date, I have not really seen any real challengers to iTunes for iPod use.

    Your photos are gone.  When you synch your phone with iPhoto, the actual picture file does not synch, rather is is a very small thumbnail file suitable for viewing on the phone, but of such small resolution that it's useless for anything other than viewing on the phone.  In any case, Apple makes no way for you to retrieve these thumbnail file.
    If you deleted photos from iPhoto, your only hope is if you have Time Machine or another backup that might have had those photos.  Are they perhaps still in the "Trash" within the iPhoto app?

    After that I called tech support, they couldnt fix it either (Surprise Surprise...). This is really starting to aggrevate me because I have previously purchased apps already! Could someone from apple support please help me or contact me ASAP.

I still cannot connect to WiFi with my iPhone since the upgrade yesterday.  Will they pay for my data overages??? I have tried every suggestion that has been on the Apple Forums...and none of them work. Then when I tried contacting Apple..I found out I have to PAY for their help.  Are they kidding me??

  • Podcast Not Appearing?? Apple support no help!!

    We have a radio program that has been featured as a podcast on itunes since Jan 2009. We had no problems with our podcast feed until the past two months when a new intern messed up the RSS feed. I corrected the mistakes, but our podcast feed never updated to reflect that it had been corrected. (It had stopped updating our feed). After a couple weeks of no updates, I contacted Apple support and they recommended I deleted and resubmit the feed.
    I deleted the feed and once it was gone, I resubmitted it.
    It has been two months and we still have not been posted to the itunes page. I have submitted a couple times over the past two months. We are not getting a 'duplicate feed' error -- just no feedback and no posting. I contacted itunes support and pretty much got the "check if your feed is valid" and "check to make sure you didn't get duplicate podcast message" form message, despite my ongoing communications with them.
    I ran our feed through the validator and there are no issues AND this feed worked fine until our intern messed up the RSS code (now fixed).

    I've been searching itunes to see if we are there SOMEWHERE (no avail), but did see something odd -- our first podcast we posted from Nov 2009 shows up when you do a search for our show 'Radio Green Earth' but if you click on it, you get a message about that item not being available in the Itunes store. That is the only episode that appears during a search and our show's podcast w/ photo is not appearing at all.
    Please help us out, we are all getting very frustrated.

    Also, I have even tried a new cable and upgraded to a new USB 2.0 Card.

  • Simple question for Apple Support, iTunes fails after immediate error message.

    I am currently in a situation that after starting up iTunes (on Windows), immediately a pop-up error message tells me " Nieuwe iTunes-bibliotheek", i.e. "New iTunes Library"
    After this message nothing happens anymore. Any help will be appreciated.

    I don't know if any of this will help, but the first thing I'd suggest is to get a good antispyware checker and give it a go at your system. Some recent spyware has been reported by other users to shut down iTunes or prevents it from launching. From user reports, Ewido seems to be the best at catching it. You can download a free version of Ewido here.
    If that doesn't cure the problem, try deleting the iTunes preference files:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
    and
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Data\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
    You might have to turn on "show hidden files" to find them. (Right click "my computer", select open, select Tools menu -> Folder Options. Select View tab, "show hidden files" radio button is in the center scrolling panel.) Delete them. This will force iTunes to run the setup assistance the next time you run it and you'll have to go back and set any preferences you've changed from the default.

    If you are trying to change the iCloud ID ("email address") you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • IPad 2 Lack of Apple support for Display Issue

    Recently I puchased two Ipad2's and one has a distinct yellowish tinge to all display white areas compared to the othe ipad2.  I realise there is some variability in the displays but this is quite a noticable difference leaving the entire display generally darker at various brightness levels compared with other ipad 2's I have compared it with.  For example, entering the  setup menu the greys are much darker and this does not appear to be an intensity issue.  Increasing the brightness does not solve the colouration issue.
    I contacted Apple express support today and as the iPad2 is still within the 14 days I asked for it to be replaced.  The Apple support representative refused stating I had to submit the item for service instead at my nearest apple service agent to have the issue assessed and corrected.  I have apple care on the ipad2 and was under the impression Apple normally honor the 14 day refund / exchange policy.  I spent considerable time on the phone with Apple Australia today and tried a hardware reset and answered several questions etc I am not using a screen protector either as the item is literally just out of the box.  Given the holidays I will not be able to get the unit into Apple servcie until after the 14 days expires.
    Has anyone in the forum experienced a similar issue with the display and had issues with Apple debating if there is a hardware problem with the display?  Or is there any way to fix the issue I have not already tried?  This is really annoying.  Normaly I would not worry about minor display differences but the issue seems to make the images darker on comparative measurements against other ipad2 units including the one I bought for my wife.  The only difference in the latter case is my ipad2 with problem display is a black model 32GB versus the 16GB white model ipad2 my wife has.

    Thanks for the advice, but there is no Apple store within the city I live.  The nearest is 300 km away.

  • Apple support very helpful

    just got off the phone with apple support about my 3G still having SMS lag and app crashing, said if I did a restore already that there was realy nothing to do but replace the phone, or get it repaired. He set me up an appointment with my apple store so hopefully i'll get my better working phone when I go in tomorrow. I highly suggest that anyone with issues call support they are really nice, and seem to be familiar with the issue of the iphone.

    I can't say that I blame you for going crazy. I'd also keep an eye out for any cracks in the case. I noticed one on my iphone just before the appointment. I also mentioned it to the Tech guy and someone in line mentioned to me that he also had problems with cracks. Looking around here I noticed that many have had similar issues. Good luck with your appointment.
