Lack of game sounds on 2 ipad air 2 machines.

I bought 2 off "ipad air 2" several days apart.
They have the latest issues of software.
The only time they have been used on the Internet was to download Candy Crush, separately.
Today both units failed to produce sounds, whilst playing the game.
I know it sounds stupid but both sounds did disappear on the same day, but I tried mine after
I found out that the other sound had stopped.
They have not been linked together.
I have tried a reset under "general" "Reset" without any change.
Volume not set at minimum!
Nothing else has been loaded on either machine.
Any suggestions help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Reset your device by holding the sleep/wake and home (shown above) buttons until the apple logo pops up, that should solve the problem. Don't worry it's completely harmless.
If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

  • Having SOS sounds on my ipad air

Anyone having problems with strange sounds from the ipad air?, every now and again the ipad makes a strange morse code sound. I don't use a apple magnet cover just an ordinary folding case,  can anyone help!

Thanks for the information, jjjeff.  I didn't have a case on my iPad Air when the problem occured (and I certainly don't have a case that contains a sound locator -- fancy, haha).  However, what I have been noticing is that the problem occurs quite quickly.  The first one I had starting making the SOS sound the first day I started using it and the second one started making the SOS sound after a few weeks of use.  Maybe the iPad that I keep getting is from the same batch (unfortunately a bad batch?).  I'm hoping that the next one I get will work properly.  I was really excited to upgrade to the newest version and would hate to look for alternatives.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will let you know what the genius' at the Apple Store says. They might have more information on what the issue could be since the last time I was there (about a month ago.)  Stay tuned.

  • HT4623 Since updating to ios 7.0.6 it has caused the sounds on my iPad Air to either be distorted, none at all in headphones or when locking it almost sounds like a whining drill.  What am I meant to do with that got it pretty soon after it was released

It is completley strange (did the update yesterday evening 5/3), I realise this is likely to be a bug, the iPad Air has no dirt in the headphone or speakers, have checked.  It sounds just like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnL1OjDQcLM
I don't know however if they experience the same with the headphones, I do find that if I fiddle with the mono settings and left and right balance I could get the headphones to work perfectly again, on off with the sleep button and home button seemed to clear the silly noise on the stereo speakers.  I dont really want to keep messing around with the settings to get it to work, I would assume that the update for the SSL bug fix is the problem as when I applied this update the issue started, I had made NO other changes or install of apps and had only used it for browsing e-mail and music.
This should not happen and would like to know what Apple intend on doing to resolve this and when??

Try using Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

  • The sound on me ipad randomly shuts off, there are no specific warnings or the lot, it just shuts down then randomly starts up again. What's the problem? And please let me know if other owners are experiencing the same troubles...

The sound on my ipad shuts of
I'm a new user of these apple forums so I don't really know how stuff works, bur here's my question
Recently, the sound on my iPad Air randomly shuts down, (os 7.1 downloaded) then it randomly pops up again. Sounds in the videos of photo gallery still works, as well as the videos on the internet (browser: chrome), and videis on Facebook too, but sounds like key board clicks, lock sounds, and games from the App Store store stop working... Please help, and I would also like to know if there are any other owners out there who face the same problem...

    Rev_JC:
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There are a number of possible approaches to your issue. At first I thought it may be that your logic board was going out. The it sounded as if you needed to Reset the PMU. Finally, who talked about slapping it around and getting results, it sounds like it may be a loose display cable or something of that sort. Since you are completely new to Macs your best bet would be to go online and make an appointment at the Genius Bar in your local Apple Store. It costs nothing. They will look over your computer and give you an idea of what is wrong and what it will cost to rectify it.
Meanwhile, to help to identify your computer more closely, while the computer is booted go to Apple Menu > About this Mac. That will tell you the OS you have installed, the Processor speed and the computer you have. Please report this info back with you response.
Please do post back with further questions or comments.

  • IPad Air Speakers Quality

I have just got my new IPad Air home and have set it up,no problems as far! I then have played audio, video and even notification sounds and the quality is awful. It sounds like the speakers are vibrating and gives such a tinny sound I can't listen to anything other than at low volumes. This can't be right. Does anybody else have this problem?

I had the same problem with my new iPad Air--shallow, tinny sound, and the whole tablet vibrated when I played music.  Usually noticeable in pop, rock or world music, but really bad in classical music. Spent a week and a half trying to persuade myself that it wasn't as bad as I first thought, obsessively comparing passages of classical music, first on my iPad 2, then on the new iPad Air.  The sound on the iPad 2 is lush and rich; sounds as if the musicians are right in the room with you. Sound on the iPad Air was thin and tinny, like a *recording* of musicians, played back on a not-very good stereo system, and then there were the vibrations.
I finally gave up and took it back to the Apple store. One Apple "genius" there told me that iPads are not designed for listening to classical music and that I should buy some external speakers if I intended to do that (this after paying almost $1,000 for the iPad itself). But another went around the store with me listening to the same pieces on other iPad Airs, and admitted with surprise that the iPad air sound was really not as good as the iPad 2.  I returned the iPad Air (which BTW also had color issues). Very disappointing since the Air has many wonderful features. Also *really* depressing to think that this could be an indication of Apple quality post-Steve.

  • IPad Air with iOS 8.3 arbitrarily deleting e-mails

Whilst I have used Macs for 30 years, I'm fairly new at using an iPad though I have had a couple of iPhones which I have used to check my e-mail in certain occasional situations.
I got my iPad Air just before Christmas and most Mail settings were left at default. I have two POP3 e-mail accounts which I manage manually online, so I delete messages on the server myself - a habit I have maintained since having a serious spam problem a few years ago (now resolved).
I noticed a couple of days ago that an e-mail to which I wanted to refer from around February was no longer there and then realised that there was no mail over a month old on my iPad. I set about finding out why it all might have vanished and discovered the Advanced Mail settings which set the deletion time for e-mail which I then set to never.
I wasn't sure whether my mail might then miraculously reappear or if the setting would only be effective from now on but after a sync with my Mac, I found that although there was e-mail dating back to December, some messages, notably from people flagged as VIPs were now gone right up to messages received this week. In fact, of seven VIPs, every single message from five of them has gone and the messages from the other two only go back a few days.
I know that since I got my iPad, every e-mail I have received on my server has arrived on my iPad and my Mac before it has been deleted from the server but I don't know how the messages are managed on the iPad. It certainly doesn't make sense that some mail from almost five months ago is now in my inbox yet mail from VIPs to the same account are gone. I have not deleted any messages from my iPad at all other than marking the occasional message as spam - there are no messages in the Trash folder of either account.
I have suddenly lost faith in my iPad as a reliable primary communication tool and feel that I can only use it as a secondary device. I'm very disappointed.

    Hi Prabu,
Thank you for replying to provide more details.
It sounds like your iPad Air began restarting unexpectedly after updating to iOS 8.2, and now it only starts up to recovery mode. You also mentioned that you've received an error 4013 message when trying to restore from multiple computers.
You may want to try these additional tips from iOS: Restore errors 4005, 4013, and 4014 and attempt to restore your iPad again:
Try these steps to resolve the issue:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
    Restart your computer.
Make sure your computer is up to date. If an update requires a restart, check for updates again after you restart.
Learn more about updating OS X.
    Learn more about updating Windows.
    Restore using another USB cable.
If you still see error 4013 or your devices continues to restart, it's recommended that you contact Apple Support for more help with your iPad Air:
If you continue to see error 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your device, contact Apple for support.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

  • IPad Mini Retina, or iPad Air...or wait?

I'm wondering if others are experiencing what I am regarding the recent batch of iPads. I have a 1g iPad Mini - and really like it - but wonder whether an upgrade is worth it, this time around. The iPad Mini Retina isn't in most local Apple Stores yet, which means I can't even try them out before the upcoming sales.
I don't want an iPad Air; nice machine, but the Mini's size and dimensions make it much easier to use. The iPad Mini Retina, however, is said to have a disappointing screen (at least in comparison with the iPad 4 & 5), and the speed boost is the kind of thing you take for granted. If you have had a chance to sample the new iPads, is it best ot purchase now, or wait a generation?
    Thanks!

I'd suggest you wait until the new iPad minis are available in the stores and then check them out for yourself. Then you can decide whether the current model will suit your needs or whether you wish to wait. Note that a new model isn't likely until late next year, though Apple could well improve the screen in the current model as yields improve or new screen providers become available.
    Regards.

  • Is it normal for iPad Air 2 to vibrate when playing music, watching video, playing game, or anything related to the sound?

I just bought my iPad Air 2 and it is vibrating when do anything related to sound. I want to know is it normal or just me? should i bring it back to Apple Store?

A number of people have reported having vibration problems. One thread below. I'd bring it back for a different one or a refund if you're dissatisfied.

  • IPad Air - no ringer sounds after ios 8.3 update

since updating to ios 8.3, my iPad Air has no notification or ringer sounds on apps. eg I'm unable to use the Alarmed app as there's no sound. The volume works ok on music and movies.
For 2 days after the update, the home screen showed the Ringer icon flashing On and Off on the home screen when I woke the iPad up. (it's stopped this although the fault remains).
I have held the home and power button and rebooted, but this doesn't solve the issue.
    Any suggestions please?
I only updated from iOS 7 recently as was trying to avoid the dreaded update bugs....iOS 7 crashed. So does 8.3.

I'm not 100% sure that I know what you mean by "reset/restore."  If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • No sound in Keynote on iPad Air

    Hi all,
When trying to add sound (a track from my music in iTunes account) to a Keynote presentation on my iPad Air, it allows me to link a track, but then when the presentation is played, the track does not play. I have tried to play the soundtrack separately through iTunes then opened the Keynote and as soon as the presentation started, the music stops, as though it recognises that there is a track there and has stopped the other one to allow it to play. But no sound. Is there a hidden volume setting? I can't find anything and there are minimal options within Keynote to mess with.
Any ideas? I've searched the net and a few people have have the same issue.

If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.

  • No sound at some apps Ipad Air

    Hello
My problem is that with headset all app work with sound. But the internat speaker works only with a few apps.
I try to reinstall from a backup but didn ' t work, no change.
    Harald

    1. If you have no sound at all, even in the Music App, try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
    2. If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7 ot iOS 8. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return. If you have an iPad Air 2, you control system sounds and the rotation lock in the control center, since the device has no side switch.
If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6, the system sound control is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe all the way to the right in the task bar to get to the speaker icon on the left side. Tap on that and the sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
    3. Try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost but you will have to enter all of the device settings again.
    4. If you still have no sound, try cleaning the dock connector opening of the iPad with a soft brush and just a little bit of rubbing alcohol.
