Lack of music

I was just wondering why the US itunes has such a lack of music. There are tons of songs that the UK itunes has that I want and cannot buy. [Post Edited by Hosts]

I am amazed. I thought the US would have more than anybody. If there is something in particular you want then use the Request link - quick way to see it is to search on something iTunes couldn't possibly have and you will be invited to Browse or Request. If you do enough requests who knows what might happen.

  • Lack of music/apps in South Africa

I know this topic has been discussed before, yet there never seems to be a satisfactory answer.

The lack of availability of music, games and other apps on the iTunes store in South Africa makes no sense. Does anyone know the correct channels an individual would have to follow to make this aware to the higher ups at Apple? I know it wouldn't be difficult at all to get a large number of South Africans behind this change. Having music available for purchase on the iTunes store would be massive here, and this lack of availability does not seem to be caused by South African laws, but rather a lack of action from Apple. This issue seems to have been ongoing for years now.
I don't think wanting to spend money to purchase music and games legally should be such a problem for Apple to remedy.
Any ideas as to how we could tackle this would be awesome!

  • I'm dissapointed in the lack of Music Videos available?

Now I have my 80Gb video ipod since Christmas and I want to build a nice collection of music videos. However, the selection on iTunes is poor and not all music videos are accessible from the main music videos page. Many seem hidden.
Apple needs to make alot more videos available and make them easier to find or at least when searching for ALL videos they should show ALL!!!
I want a particular video from "Melanie C - I Turn To you" and what amazes me is that there doesn't seem to be anywhere on the net who's selling music videos but plenty of online viewing in poor quality only. I will gladly pay to get the videos i want but yet again the music industry seems very slow in getting their act together - no wonder they have a problem with piracy!!!
Come on iTunes please give us more music videos and a better selection as you seem to me to be leading the way!!!
    Anyone have anything to add?
    Paul.

    Hi,
With the project all done, i'm preparing for the presentation. Managed to get my hands on a HD beamer for the night (Epason TW2000) and planning to do the presentation in HD.
That of course managed to bring up some problems. I posted a thread which i'll repost here . Sorry for the repost, i normally do not intend to do this, but since this thread is actually about the same thing, i'd like to ask the same question to you. The end version is in AfterEffects, but that actually doesn't alter the question. It's about export:
"I want to export my AE project of approx 30 min containing several HD files to a Blu Ray disc. The end goal is to project the video in HD quality using the Epson  EMP-TW2000 projector. This projector is HD compatible.
To project the video I need to connect the beamer to a computer capable of playing a heavy HD file (1), OR burn the project to a BRD (2) and play it using a BRplayer.
I prefer option 2, so my question is: which would be the preferred export preset?
    Project specs:
                        - 1920x1080 sq pix  (16:9)
                        - 25 fps
                        - my imported video files (Prem.Pro sequences) are also 25 fps and are Progressive (!)
To export to a BRD compatible format, do i not encounter a big problem: my projectfiles are 25 fps and progressive, and I believe that the only Bluray preset dispaying 1920x1080 with 25 fps requests an INTERLACED video  (I viewed the presets found on this forum, this thread)... There is also a Progr. format, BUT then you need 30 fps (29,...).
So, is there one dimension that can be changed without changing the content of the video, and if yes which one (either the interlacing or the fps).
I'm not very familiar with the whole Blu-ray thing, I hope that someone can help me out."
    Please give it a look.
    Thanks,
    Jef

  • Reply for 5800 discusion- lack of music buttons

Why we could'n use (after new firmware) green button as prev. red for next and white for play/pause songs while music player is on and phone is locked? I think that they could program that g.w.r. buttons are unlocked while m.player is on and phone is locked... Or i'm wrong?

No problem, I could probably have struck a better tone. Couple of months away from 50 myself and don't always have the patience that I used to...
Ouch on the Speedy PC Pro front.
Believe me, I've been there. Beating my head against a brick wall, trying my own ideas and the ones I can find online, and nothing works. Sometimes we have to put the problem to one side and come back in a new frame of mind. Set yourself a time limit and know from the outset that you might not be successful in that session, that way it is not so frustrating if you're still no further forward at the end of it.
The essence of the posts I've tracked down so far is a suggestion that your PC either can't see the correct servers to talk to, or having found them has decided they can't be trusted and therefore doesn't let iTunes do its thing. As I say this isn't an issue I've ever had, or read up on, so I don't have any instant suggestions for what to do next, but I will keep my thinking cap on.
One of the linked threads I read mentions "an ongoing issue that Apple are aware of". It is best to take these claims with a pinch of salt, but there may be an identifiable common cause that is affecting you and a (relatively) small number of other users. Apple tend not to make pronouncements but they do keep working on improvments. Just because they can't/won't troubleshoot with you on an individual basis doesn't mean they do nothing. You might find the next build of iTunes fixes things for you regardless of what you do in the meantime.
Your existing content isn't lost to you. It will still play in iTunes or on your Nano, and you can still import CDs to your library.

  • Lack of features in Austria

    Hello,
does anybody know why so many features are missing on iOS6 in Austria, although they are available in other German speaking countries e.g. Germany or Switzerland?
    Regards,
    Daniel

Yes Pandit ,Nokia x2-02 lacks many useful features that earlier Nokia phone had .Music player is not able mark files so making playlist is not easy .Nokia 5130 was capable of going to music player through sd card and making playlist is not necessary. It create a playlist automatically and plays the songs in the folder of sd card. Nokia is running backwards with their technology and that is why they fails in the market. They are busy with making of new devices but we are the customers who decide which phone to buy.I think after sale service! is the key stone of success of a company. Sure You fails in this section. Make new device and concentrate only on it Nokia ,we were the customers who bought nokia phones one after another ...we have just stopped the practice as my x2-02 lacks basis music features and there is not update to fix it .I was planning to switch nokia asha series for my sister and myself to lumia device. But now i think if i buy i will never get proper service as you will be busy with your making of flagship useless devices.Yes ,their fate will be same to me.If my x2-02 issue not fix I will never buy a nokia device for me and my family members and will try to prevent my friend from buying your device I was a fan of nokia but I have to switch other company who takes priority to care of their customers more than producing new devices.

  • Lack of features in S40 DP1.0 series

    Hi
I've two phone of these series and it's new features are amazing..like
    1-text conversation
    2-camera quality
    3-image editing features
    4-dual sim swap option
    but lack of features of S40 5th edition's 5130, 7210 phone.
    that is
1-No option in messaging for "MY FOLDER" and to delete msgs by marking.
2- No option in music player to create playlist and add songs in it like S40 5th edition.
3- No backup of created playlist while we change Memory card.
4- No automatically creation of playlist while we play songs from a folder like S40 5th Ed.
In S40 DP1.0 plays the single song which we select to play.
Now i'm using X2-02 and C2-03 both have same features. But without above mentioned features i feel new are worthless, so it's my heartly request to Nokia that please update above features in S40 DP1.0 series.
    Thank you

  • Fix your freaking software! Frustrated iPod user about to send it back

Ok, I really am at the end of my tether here.
I have iTunes 7.0.1 and an 80Gb iPod, all running on a lovely Windows XP Pro SP2+latest hotfixes system.
As per the other million (give or take several thousand) people who've had connection issues, my iPod is detected fine by Windows XP, and will even mount itself as the iPod.
However, iTunes completely fails to bother detecting it.
Yes, I've tried the extremely useless 5 R's (including this piece of useless support doc: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716), but without fail, iTunes still acts like a little kid, and refuses to do what it's told.
I'm currently using the 'tried and true, but shouldn't have to do this' approach of restarting the iPod Service manually.
****, I've even made a .cmd file to do this automagically - this works to a point, and that point is I don't want to have to do this every freaking time I dock the iPod.
    Some facts regarding this:
    1) I have disabled various services within Windows XP, this has not stopped iPod's being detected by iTunes in previous incarnations (iTunes 6.x) - it was a Firewire capable iPod, btw.
    2) I've tried deleting the BIN folder of the iPod programs directory, and repairing the iTunes installation, that's done SFA.
    3) I've tried stopping the iPod Service.exe file via taskmanager, and doing the ol' c:\program files\ipod\bin\ipod service.exe /service routine. Again, thats done SFA.
    4) I've tried a clean Windows XP installation, I've tried system restore, I've upgraded from 6.x to 7.0 to 7.0.1, and still SFA.
    5) I've even gone as far as sacrificing a virgin goat under a blue moon, but all that got me was a court order to 'cease all satanic rituals'.
I am now at the point where I will simply send the iPod back to Apple, ask for a refund, and become one very ****** off consumer.
So, if there is any service rep out there, or other unwilling victim of this horrific tripe that Apple has unleashed that has managed to fix the problem up, please let me know how you've done it, because I'm starting to suffer from a lack of MUSIC!

  • Is there a (relatively simple) way to skip tracks with an iPod touch 5th gen using a physical button? I'm aware songs can be skipped on-screen without unlocking the iPod, but I'm looking for a method that doesn't require taking my eyes off the road.

Is there a (relatively simple) way to skip tracks with an iPod touch 5th gen using a physical button? I'm aware songs can be skipped on-screen without unlocking the iPod, but I'm looking for a method that doesn't require taking my eyes off the road while driving. For that reason, I'm also not interested in adding in headphones or additional devices that have the desired button functions. Going both forward and back would be great but I would be pleased just to have a "sight-free" way to go forward.
I've seen some mention here and there about ways to maybe change it so the volume buttons change tracks and holding the volume buttons changes the volume... but I don't know what's involved in that or if its even possible/recommended for a new 5th gen iPod. I think its a great device but its sadly lacking in music oriented functions and features... which is disappointing since music is why most people would bother getting one instead of some other "iDevice" :/

Given that you cannot do what you have asked for, perhaps you simply need to find another solution to your root problem.
Presumably, you want to skip to the next track because you don't want to hear the current one, and that is because...
    You don't like it.
You've heard it recently and don't want to hear it now.
Simply don't want to hear it at this time.
For problem number 1. Don't put it on the iPod in the first place. (I know, obvious answer!)
For problem number 2. How about playing from a Smart Playlist (initially created in your iTunes Library) which has only songs you've not played recently?
For problem number 3. Hhhmmm! Create alternative Playlists for use in the car.
As for going back to the start of the "now playing" track.... Well, if your Playlist has only songs that you really, really want to hear, then you'll be looking forward to that rather go back to the beginning of the current song.
I'm not trying to be prescriptive, just giving you food for thought.
(They are all cheaper options than buying a car which can control the iPod from the steering wheel.)

  • Initial reactions

    1. I could not get the Apple TV (ATV) to work by plugging the HDMI cable to my AV receiver; the cable had to be attached directly to the HD TV. (Some forum members suggested that ATV would function via the receiver connection. All of my other components plug into the receiver, with a single component video output to the HDTV. I will try using component video in lieu of the HDMI in the ATV+receiver link.)
    2. I was under the illusion that the ATV could serve as a central repository for all of my music. That's not the case. One can stream from five different sources but "sinc" using only one computer. I purchased the ATV in large part because using the Airport Express to stream music from my computers yielded occasional, yet very annoying, dropouts in the music. So far I've been able to stream the music with the ATV without the dropouts.
    3. No gapless music playback. This is, indeed, irritating. Apple finally got around to providing gapless playback on iTunes, but streaming music via the ATV includes all of the gaps--including Grateful Dead albums, which is especially disturbing, as Deadheads will attest.
    3. The sound quality of the ATV seems to reflect the source quality--what one would expect.
    4. It would be nice (convenient) to be able to operate the ATV using my computers' iTunes. Again, not the case. One must use the Front Row program displayed on the TV.
    5. Video quality, like music, reflects the source quality. Most YouTube segments suck, but the purchased movies (e.g., "Pirates") come across decent. I haven't tried photos yet, but I understand that they display in "true" HD.
    6. For my purposes (mostly music) I would prefer that Apple improve the Apple Express to eliminate the music dropouts. The ATV is a very expensive alternative that lacks gapless music playback and the capability to serve as a central music repository.
    MacBook Pro & G5 PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I seem to have been premature in my assessment, in particular with respect to gapless playback. The Grateful Dead album I had on my hard drive contained gaps as a result of my initial copying. However, I am now playing via the ATV Brian Wilson's "Smile," which I downloaded from iTunes. The playback is gapless, as it should be. So, I was wrong.
As for the Airport Express, I've tried many proffered workarounds without achieving a permanent fix. The unit will successfully stream music for hours during one session. Then the music will cut out for a few seconds and otherwise play back intermittently. I suspect that I've got interference problems. I live in a downtown apartment; my neighbors have their own wireless routers/base stations, and I'm sure that there are wireless telephones in use. (However, my daughter's AE also cuts out, and she lives in a house.)
The equipment I use is 100% Apple: the newest Airport Extreme; dual G5 2GHz; a brand new 23-in. Cinema Display; a 2.33 GHz MacBook Pro; and the most up-to-date Apple software. I do not use third-party equipment, including routers.
I also have a Marantz SR 9600 with lots of bells and whistles, including two HDMI inputs and one HDMI output. Again, I had thought that I could connect the ATV to the receiver using HDMI. That apparently won't work. I'm not at all familiar with HDMI technology, so I can't offer an explanation. As I wrote previously, I've got several other components connected to the receiver with one video out to the HDTV. I've ordered some component video cables. I'll try connect those between the ATV and receiver to see if the ATV will display on the TV through the receiver.
By the way, I appreciate the quick feedback from all.

  • Ipod + Headphone jack = problem

Hello fellow Ipod users. I needed to know what to do in my situation. For it would seem my 5th Gen ipod's headphone jack gives me the lack of music in my left headphone. I feel the jack itself is a bit out of place, and I'm not sure what to do. Do you believe I could get it fixed through Apples warranty program? Or will they turn me down through the warranties policy? What ever that may be.

Have you tried a different set of headphones? If it is there even with a different set then I would suspect the iPod. If it is still under warranty it should be covered. Only apple can tell you for sure.

  • Changing  pitch....

Forgive me, you will have to talk to me like I am an idiot with audio stuff....because I am! lol
I sold my father inlaw my Powerbook, his first mac, in large part because of the audio he wants to do.
So he asked me in GarageBand how does he change pitch....well the only thing I can find is how to change the Master Pitch on the Master Track.
He wants to take one track and change the pitch. Can that be done?
And if not what is the work around since he says this is standardly done for music creation is must be possible.
And please if you respond can it be step by step (for an idiot remember, video is my thing) so I can in turn be able ot tell him?
    Thansk in advance.

Great, thank you I see that, but I have to ask, as I know what he is going to ask me.
He is new to working with a computer and music, and he is old school, and how do you know what you changed the pitch too? Forgive my lack of musical lingo, but shouldn't you have more to go by + or - the numbers? Is that typically how one would denote things musically?
Thanks again. That is a big help

  • My iPhone refuses to sync with iTunes, please help?

I think I've done everything I've seen online so far. That is to say, I've uninstalled iTunes, downloaded the newest version, switched up USB ports, restarted iPhone and computer... I really don't know what else to do. I'm new to the apple world and loving it aside from this issue. I have Windows Vista, I hope that isn't a problem for the software. I can't upgrade that, unfortunately.
My dad says I need to back my phone up but I can't, of course... so I would really appreciate some tips! It's making me nervous about the backing up thing and anxious what with the dangerous lack of music on my phone!

It's not that I'm nervous /to/ back my phone up, I'm just nervous that if I don't, something bad may happen to it. lol
And iTunes isn't giving me any error code, it's just not responding to the iPhone 4 at all. it doesn't detect it and so I can't sync :/
