Lack of practical practice in BC-ABA

Hi
I am following BC-ABA on SAP LIBRARY.
Theoretical part is all fine, but I am facing lack of practical programming practice.
Are there some resources from where I can practice all what I have learned.
Thanks.

Most of the examples are done using an example demo application.

  • Lack of practical settings in Quicktime

Hi, viewing movies/video footage can be a bit of a lottery using Quicktime and amazingly this is true 'even' if referring to the same video file format let alone the countless other formats available.
Within one format, i.e. .mp4, .mkv, .avi, or other, etc. the source may have a setting that was overlooked or not changed beforehand and these can be:-
    1. One of my .mp4 (H.264) 720 video clips from a holiday; when viewing you can clearly see exaggerated lines within many areas of the picture. Having previously viewed this in Final Cut Pro or DVD Studio Pro's timeline (one of those) I noticed that the problem disappeared when applying the de-interlace setting for viewing the playback in the viewer window on the 'fly' (no reprocessing, transcoding or rendering involved), this resulted in the picture being perfect! Yet frustratingly there's no such option within Quicktime.
    2. Again, there's no option for correcting or at least adjusting the 'Aspect'! I have a different movie file at 720p, the quality is excellent but the aspect is slightly squashed making all circles elliptical (i.e. the included padding within the movie file needs reducing to stretch the picture vertically to make it in proportion.
    3. Needs setting to correct the pixel type on the fly to either 'square' or 'rectangular'.
    4. And finally. The subtitle option appears to never work. The Subtitle option within the Quicktime View options appears to be permanently shaded/ghosted-out leaving you never able to select or deselect it and often if the tick is shown (to confirm them as being set Off) does not correspond to some movie files that have subtitles still showing. I enabled Perian to try and help by setting it's 'Load external subtitles' to OFF, but this makes no difference at times, especially when some movie footage have subtitles contained within the same movie file as an internal track i.e. .mkv.
I'm not sure why Quicktime appears to be limited with regard to flexibility on the above issues and don't understand why there's not even a settings menu under the main menu quicktime tab. It can be a further hinderance to have to resort to either lengthy transcoding and tweaking, or installing another video viewer program, which is a shame because I would rather prefer the Quicktime's shell integration within Snow Leopard for things like quick-look (quick view).
Is there a deeply routed 'Quicktime - Settings' Menu within Snow Leopards operating system?
I couldn't see anything to this effect within the 'System Preferences' control panel.

Is there a deeply routed 'Quicktime - Settings' Menu within Snow Leopards operating system?
No, the settings are located in/only apply to the QT 7 "Pro" Player app.
    1) High Quality/Single Field/Deinterlace settings are located in the QT 7 "Pro" Properties window.
    2) While QT X only uses the PAR encoded value to set the display aspect ratio, QT 7 "Pro" Properties window allows you to turn off the "Preserve Aspect Ratio" setting and re-scale the display to user desired display dimensions which can also translate to changes in the aspect ratio.
    3) With regard to broadcast/DVD standards (DV/MPEG-2) compression formats, QT 7 and QT X are Square/rectangular pixel aware and automatically display using the correct "pixel aspect" dependent on the viewing device as long as the flag is not lost. (I.e., if flag is lost, the content defaults to "square" pixel display.) In a similar manner, both apps are aware of the size of the original encode matrix dimensions and the PAR display dimensions for user custom PAR values.
    4) As to subtitles, I can't help you there as I do not use them and habitually remove them as part of my normal work flow.
Basically, QT X is a "new technology" media player in its infancy. While based on "old technology," QT 7.6.6 still has more user oriented features available—especially when upgraded for "Pro" capabilities/features use.

  • Experience in Java but lack of knowledge .. Help will be appriciated...

    Hello All,
My question is regarding my career which I know you guru's can help me with. I am working as Java programmer in company from past two years. My Company tune up a software which is basically a off the shelf quality management software developed in US. Tune up means write small Java code snippets and make it working for a client.
After working in this company I felt I don't do much java programming. When I look at the IT Job market, there are thousands of people out there much better and more advanced then me. I am lack of practice in developing programs. I am preparing for my SCWCD, but I dont know where I can practice these concepts.
I want to know how you Guru's manage to practice and learn. Is there any better way I can learn and practice at the same time. Please do help because I feel I am loosing the confidence in myself.
Thanks in advance... Thanks a lot...

I expect everyone, regardless of knowledge, to be able to learn something from coworkers or mentors.
Nor have I learned anything from collaborating with others on hobby projects, as I can never find anyone to collaborate with who is of similar skill (no one wants to be my tutor, nor do I want to tutor others). Joining an open source project is a possibility if you can find one that interests you, that you feel you can make a positive contribution to, and that you can commit to. Though I have never ran into that situation either. Most other developers are either new to Java, not really interested in Java or programming (the type that just does it as a job), highly reclusive, or less interested in collaborating or helping than in attempting to demonstrate their superior intellect.I don't think that that is true for open source developers.
    >
I've learned pretty much everything I know from books, a few online resources, and just writing my own programs by myself. I'd say that's your best bet. That is a good choice, but you can also learn bad habits if you don't have anyone to learn from and if no one is reading your code.

  • [SOLVED] Xorg 1.8 I'm stupid

After the last upgrade I can't seem to find a way to start Xorg.
I'm really really really pissed off with these changes and the lack of practical documentation. I tried all methods users posted on the forum and the methods found in the wiki, still no luck. Why does everything have to change so radically that users have to read tons of stuff to make anything work?
I'm not going to post any logs, because now I'm on (sh***y) win7 posting this. I can't even go that far to posting files as I'm a bag full of anger! I hate changes!
PS: this is my Xorg log. I can't see anything wrong with it:

It was funny that I had no errors in my Xorg log, but still I was getting dropped back to the console. Then I tried to start xfce using startxfce4 and it worked, that's when I realized there's something wrong with X not reading my .xinitrc .. I have no idea why X didn't read it, the permissions were fine and I'd been using the same config for more than one year...
Anyway, I'm glad it works now.

  • How can i add an audio transition?

Adding an audio transition, basic for an editor, is impossible with fcpx??
Or video, or video and audio or nothing???
I've an interview and i need a 2 frames audio transition to eliminate the distorsion on the cut, the famous "click"...the only way is to do a split cut and to move the audio handles?...i think it's crazy, when on FCP7 was only a right click!!!!
    thanks to all!!!

"Shift-F" i dont know i'll try to use it! But if work i think Apple have to put a interface command, not all can be only keyboard usable!
We wont to talk about the trim? The famous beautifull New trim interface??
No play around the cut to review the trim, and no possibility to trim going in play!
Match Frame (if it is what you think it is -- try it and let me know) is now called "Reveal in Event Browser" and is available in the "Clip Menu."
I think the shortcut for play-around the edit point is now shift-? (question mark). There are preferences to control the length but they are broken -- it's a known bug.
yeah, the precision editor while pretty seems a bit lacking in practical usage at this point.

  • HTML/CSS customisation in ALUI 6.1 with Publisher 6.4

    Hi,
I'm extremely new to BEA products so apologies upfront for my lack of knowledge. I've read through lots and lots of documentation but what I'm really lacking is practical examples.
I'm trying to implement a new look and feel which requires changing both HTML and CSS. My first task is to change the core site header and footer. In truth, I have no idea where to start. My instinct is to try and alter the header/footer for the Default Experience definition, but is this possible? Could anyone let me know the steps to take to achieve this or to documentation explaining it?
I'm assuming that once the default experience definition is altered then it'll apply site-wide, is this correct? Or would I need a custom experience definition for this? Is it then possible to apply this site-wide?
In terms of portlets I plan on using custom html in the presentation template through Publisher so should be able to comfortably change them, but that's a hurdle for later.
Unfortunately I have little control over the system installation so an upgrade is not possible.
Any help on the above would be very vey appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    James.

    Michael-
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.  This is a known issue in LabVIEW 8.6.1 that was fixed in LabVIEW 2009.  However, you cannot use the RGT 1.1.4 with LabVIEW 2009 or 2009 SP1.  You will need to install the toolkit version for each of those versions of LabVIEW.  You can get these from www.ni.com/src as long as you have an active contract for SSP.  I would recommend downloading the newer version of this toolkit from this website and recreate your EXE files.  This should fix your issue.
Prior to LabVIEW 2009, you will need to include several *.ctl files and *.lvclass files in your project and include them as source files.  This is outlined in the Knowledge Base Article below.

  • Which mail agent do you use?

a while back we had "what http daemon" and "what ftp daemon" do-you-use posts...
so I'm curious about mail agents... qmail? exim? the dreaded sendmail?

Courier-MTA (as a whole set of programs) is most complete which means you don't have much work finding other elements for your mail server. They are already there and work together very well. The minus is the lack of practical documentation (comparing to other MTAs) and some kind of orthodoxy in implementation (some people think it's not practical).
Exim is also a very good and well designed MTA with nice and easy to read docs.
Postfix does not look so orderly but it's probably the most configurable. The docs are a bit spread over the web but the amount of guides and howtos is probably the highiest among all big 3 MTAs (check out some MTA mailing lists - it's probably most popular MTA so naturally most weird config has already been tried by someone).
Most if not all of the typical tasks can be done using any of the above.
If this is your first MTA and you want a simple setup and at the same time you don't want to spend time on searching and tweaking components of a mail server (POP, IMAP, webmail etc.) choose Courier-MTA. Courier-MTA is probably the least popular among the big 3 MTAs (but not because of its quality).
If you need more from MTA and want good examples of working configs but your setup is not very complex and you are not the type of person who likes to write lots of scripts choose Exim.
If you want some special configuration, tons of examples and docs and have time to dig in it and customize to your needs (in other words you want it as flexible as possible), choose postfix. Postfix is very often a choice of internet providers.

I've just installed the excellent Snow Leopard and the update to 10.6.1. Without changing anything else on my much loved mac the trackpad has got a strange behavior of accepting single klick only on its own terms.
Sometimes a slight touch result in a klick and sometimes I have to klick several times before its recognized as a klick. Irritating and annoying.
Seen in other posts that the track pad seems to be somewhat difficult to master and cause several problems with Snow Leopard. Any ideas would be helpful. Maybe I'd better down grade to regular Leopard again (but no that's what the PC guys does).
    BR /C

A hardy welcome to you. PC comment misleading. Only some go back and for specific reasons not inability to fix their problems. I think your problem is deeper than lack of practice with the trackpad under SL. You could try re-installing SL over SL (via simple upgrade, of course).

  • Go to next paragraph shortcut

    Hi,
I might still lack some practice, since I'm a veteran of FrameMaker but a newcomer of FrameMaker Windows. So, it could not surprise if I cannot find the shortcut to "go to the next paragraph". Ctrl-down goes to the end of the current paragraph, but then stops there, until I don't press it again. On the contrary, selecting by paragraph with Ctrl-Shift-down works fine, as does moving up with Ctrl-up.
    Am I missing something?
    Paolo

    Paolo,
You can modify the ctrl+PgDn function in the wincmds.cfg file to be the equivalent of the <esc> b p shortcut. You need to follow the instructions in the Customizing FrameMaker documentation found here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FrameMaker/8.0/customize_frame.pdf
The <esc> b p sequence is defined as such:
    <Command IPToNextParaStart
<Label Move IP To Next Paragraph>
        <KeySequence \!bp>
        <Definition \x142>>
Modify the ctrl+PgDn function to have the same Definition.
Do make backups of the .cfg file before you start playing with them.

  • Sorry if this is the wrong area for this post.

I am thinking abut the Studio High Definition Powered Isolation Headphones with Noise Cancellation. In trying to find the place with the 2 miles/$1 spent and the lowest price is too much for my drained brain to handle. If anybody knows the place that gives the 2 miles/$ spent and the best price for the exact product please sent it my way. (Not the product but the answer) lol.
I do have a question at Newegg they have a special add-on which I am not sure if it is worth getting. is there somebody who can tell me what this is and if it is worth getting the two together. Finally, the Headphones, I assume, plug into any MBP without any special connector. It would be awesome if they plug into the iPods too but I think there might be a small adapter.
OK back to my main question, should I get the # Monster AICYP 200 S Y-Splitter With Volume Control/Mute. The detail about this combo is helpful to me but still I do not have enough info and lack the practical skills to make the right decision.

  • Can graphic card on Satellite A100-386 be replaced/upgraded?

    Hi all,
Having probably heat problem with my satellite a100, I ran to the point were the screen remains dark and ... no boot at all !
All was cleaned inside for the dust, thermal pate applied on the three places needed.
Some months ago, I put 2 RAM at 2Go to boost it a bit : it was fine till some days with instant shuts down after about an hour to the great end : no more boot with no bip, nothing on except the fan and the led power.
Opening it, I saw the thing near the fan that could be the video card which seems to be removable, pretty rare isn't it ?
If it's really remplaceable, do I have to find the exact same, nvidia geforce Go 7300 Tc, said on specs, or is there the possibility to put there a better card ?
As far as I know, one does not reserve an emplacement for a removeable part if there is no way with the others parts of the computer to change it (compatibility), unless it's for cost reasons...
    Thanks for help

    Thanks guys,
What about the probability to have an answer from the "official" repair service of toshiba as there's no more guarantee and the product discontinued ?
I found a card on ebay and on an another site, the possibility stands there, if needed !
I also was surprised with the no bip, and what do you mean by "it sounds as BIOS problem" ? motherboard dead ?
How to access to BIOS without screen ?
Can I try to power on with the gpu removed to test if bips come without crashing the motherboard ?
I apologize for my english french-thinked before written, due to the lack of practice !!
Is there a way to ensure which one, from the motherboard or the gpu is dead ?
HDD was tested several times on other computers and is ok, same for the RAM.
Could removing the CMOS-battery for some times can be helpful, in the case of gpu not faulty ?

  • Installing Oracle 9ias and Portal on Linux - hard work???

Has anyone else tried to install 9ias 1.2.2.1 onto an Intel Linux platform, specifically RedHat? If so I wonder if it has been straightforward to you? If so please let me know!!! I have been struggling away at it for over three weeks, and almost nothing works out of the box, so I have to start endless TARs with OSS, and the problem is that they seem to be struggling and floundering as well. So far I have been asked for a huge amount of information and config files etc (copies of which they presumably have already) with almost nothing back. The particular problems at the moment are: changing the login server to use ldap (Oracle Internet Directory) and running portal under ssl. We (OSS and I) just can't get these to work. The latest plan by OSS is to patch portal to version 3.0.9.8.3, however, when I install that it fails, with basic shell script errors (eg : command not found)!!
There are other problems - eg Forms doesn't work properly; Reports doesn't work at all. These things I will have to sort out later, as it gets a bit confusing for everyone having several TARs open at once.
If anyone has any ideas or insight into this I would be grateful.
    David

It is not easy to configure. The patches produce side effects and this has caused delays from tech support. A bundle patch was applied to Rel 2 that has solved some problems. Why rel 2 production is not shipping is anybody's guess. The lack of practical expertise means that only corporate customers get preference. I have installed on quite few (NEW) solaris boxes in Europe and it does install ok but re-install gives some problems. BUT 'timeout' is a serious problem even after working on it (1.0.2.2 v2 3.0.9.8) for more than one year. The modules are not integrated smoothly, as you also experience. The cache is not efficient.
I suggest that you wait for rel 2 production (DOWNLOADED LACK THE PATCHES, so don't waste time) then try it on a clean box.

  • Appleworks Templates???

One of the biggest complaints I have about Appleworks is the lack of practical office based templates. An easy way to create a sheet of address labels. Like 33 of the same address for frequent mailing to the same address, or to be used as a return address label. A basic FAX cover sheet that is easy to add a to name and number, from name and numbeer, and comments. What I'm looking for is a way to access these things on-line, quickly and easily. The current crop of offerings in Appleworks just doesn't do the trick. I don't have time to fiddle around with going out on the internet to find programs, or shareware, and spend two hours trying to do something that takes a few minutes on a (gasp!) microsoft word doc! Any ideas? Perhaps Jobs & comany could spend a bit of time upgrading some every day stuff while they're knocking out the next gee whiz ap? Hmmm?

    Hello
Apple didn't designed these kind of tools when AppleWorks was well and alive (AppleWorks is back in Appleland since about ten years). I would be surprised if they do something now that they dropped it.
For the return addresses, it's really simple.
create a database with a single field.
replicate the empty record so you have x records if your sheets contains x labels
create a label layout including nothing.
open this layout in layout mode.
insert a text frame containing the needed address.
    menu Window > Page View
    That's all folks.

  • Changing Plan Mid-month "pro-rated" unclear and deceptive practice. C.S. offers no help

I recently found myself having to up my plan minutes for a family emergency. I went online and checked my usage I was at 394 minutes out of a 450 minute plan, so I elected to switch to the 900 plan minute for the month, ancipating I would go over in the next week. I was given options to back date it  or start on that day, as I had clearly not gone over my alloted minutes, I chose to start it as of that day.
My Bill came and I received 69 dollars in minute overages. How was this explained, that by prorating the bill, they divide the cylcel in half, not only by "dollars" which seemed to be the explantion I received online, but by minutes. SO my minute alotment of 450 was reduced to 240 for those two weeks I oriignally had 450 minutes in. They billed as if that was my allowance therefore saying I now went over my plan by 154 minute which I was billed to the tune of 69.00 dollars, plus the addition of the monthly increase in plan.
My question to any logical rational intelligent person would be, why would someone choose to up there minute plan, before they went over, just to then be charged for minutes they would not have been had they not upped there plan to the next level. This defies common sense and any explanation would as well.
Customer service sadly would not even hear or understand this, only to say this is a valid "cost" and I should have read the "disclosure" statement or called if I had questions and not use online services. I asked both the operator and a supervisor for the terms of the disclosure agrement and neither could tell me what it said. However in reading  billing question answers they respond "For example, if you changed rate plans during the middle of your billing cycle, your statement should contain a charge for the old rate plan (according to the number of days in your cycle that you were on the old rate plan) and the new rate plan. " yes that makes sense but no where does it say your minutes may be reduced up until this point and you may occur additional charges not already used. by ironically "increasing your minute plan".
I am waiting for a manager to return my call,  As a long time customer of verizon whom have promoted them and the new iphone all over facebook and such to my friends I am very discouraged by this practice, and the lack of resolve.

Mike I appreciate that at least you are familiar with what the disclosure statement says, despite othert reps not being able to recite it. However the term "may" be in inself is Misleading, if "airtime" is  prorated the statement should read "YOUR airtime MINUTES will be prorated and reduced to this point, possibly resulting in overages and additional charges" The wording is intentionally misleading. If it weren't MIke, why would anyone KNowingly select an option that would then cause them to  owe an additional 69.00 dollars they didnt owe at the time, when UPPING their PLAN?
The fact that Customer Service Can't see that as a very real possiblity and just is dissmisive saying You should have read the disclosure statement., and it is a valid charge tells, me they run into this frequently and they have a script to read from to cover themselves, leaving the HUman Element out of the equation. It is sad enough I had to Up my plan only temporarily while dealing with a tragic family situation, to add insult to injury. To me the term "may" be prorated and "may" result in additional overages meant, that if I had gone over my minutes prior to the change I would be charged, because MIKE that is COMMON SENSE. and a REASONABLE person May think that. Cutomer Service Reps could at least acknowledge that as a very real Understanding of how that line could be interupted, and that a reasonable person would not otherwise increase their plan only to be charge for something they would not have otherwise been charged.
I am almost positive in the Future this wording will be Changed after the continued Myriad of complaints. From what I already understand the new "changing minutes and not plan" option already has changed it. SO why not make things right for long time loyal customers now. I actually want to reduce my plan back down now as it was a temporary emergency however I DONT dare do it mid month again, SO I will wait another 2 weeks and pay even more.
This is NOT ME and my misunderstanding, just googling the topic comes up with tons and tons of complaints, articles written on the topic and so fourth. I have been waiting days for someone as promised to call me back as well and that hasnt happened. I have talked to so many friends about this many verizon customers and all say this can't be right, because it DOESNT MAKE SENSE, despite it being "valid" as you say.

  • Best Practice for SRST deployment at a remote site

What is the best practice for a SRST deployment at a remote site? Should a separate router such as a 3800 series be deployed for telephony in addition to another router to be deployed for Data? Is there a need for 2 different devices?

    Hi Brian,
    This is typically done all on one ISR Router at the remote site :)There are two flavors of SRST. Here is the feature comparison;
    SRST Fallback
This feature enables routers to provide call-handling support for Cisco Unified IP phones if they lose connection to remote primary, secondary, or tertiary Cisco Unified Communications Manager installations or if the WAN connection is down. When Cisco Unified SRST functionality is provided by Cisco Unified CME, provisioning of phones is automatic and most Cisco Unified CME features are available to the phones during periods of fallback, including hunt-groups, call park and access to Cisco Unity voice messaging services using SCCP protocol. The benefit is that Cisco Unified Communications Manager users will gain access to more features during fallback ****without any additional licensing costs.
Comparison of Cisco Unified SRST and
Cisco Unified CME in SRST Fallback Mode
Cisco Unified CME in SRST Fallback Mode
    • First supported with Cisco Unified CME 4.0: Cisco IOS Software 12.4(9)T
    • IP phones re-home to Cisco Unified CME if Cisco Unified Communications Manager fails. CME in SRST allows IP phones to access some advanced Cisco Unified CME telephony features not supported in traditional SRST
    • Support for up to 240 phones
    • No support for Cisco VG248 48-Port Analog Phone Gateway registration during fallback
    • Lack of support for alias command
    • Support for Cisco Unity® unified messaging at remote sites (Distributed Exchange or Domino)
    • Support for features such as Pickup Groups, Hunt Groups, Basic Automatic Call Distributor (BACD), Call Park, softkey templates, and paging
    • Support for Cisco IP Communicator 2.0 with Cisco Unified Video Advantage 2.0 on same computer
    • No support for secure voice in SRST mode
    • More complex configuration required
    • Support for digital signal processor (DSP)-based hardware conferencing
    • E-911 support with per-phone emergency response location (ERL) assignment for IP phones (Cisco Unified CME 4.1 only)
    Cisco Unified SRST
    • Supported since Cisco Unified SRST 2.0 with Cisco IOS Software 12.2(8)T5
    • IP phones re-home to SRST router if Cisco Unified Communications Manager fails. SRST allows IP phones to have basic telephony features
    • Support for up to 720 phones
    • Support for Cisco VG248 registration during fallback
    • Support for alias command
    • Lack of support for features such as Pickup Groups, Hunt Groups, Call Park, and BACD
    • No support for Cisco IP Communicator 2.0 with Cisco Unified Video Advantage 2.0
    • Support for secure voice during SRST fallback
    • Simple, one-time configuration for SRST fallback service
    • No per-phone emergency response location (ERL) assignment for SCCP Phones (E911 is a new feature supported in SRST 4.1)

    These SRST hardware based restrictions are very similar to the number of supported phones with CME. Here is the actual breakdown;
Cisco 880 SRST Series Integrated Services Router
    Up to 4 phones
    Cisco 1861 Integrated Services Router
    Up to 8 phones
    Cisco 2801 Integrated Services Router
    Up to 25 phones
    Cisco 2811 Integrated Services Router
    Up to 35 phones
    Cisco 2821 Integrated Services Router
    Up to 50 phones
    Cisco 2851 Integrated Services Router
    Up to 100 phones
    Cisco 3825 Integrated Services Router
    Up to 350 phones
Cisco Catalyst® 6500 Series Communications Media Module (CMM)
    Up to 480 phones
    Cisco 3845 Integrated Services Router
    Up to 730 phones
*The number of phones supported by SRST have been changed to multiples of 5 starting with Cisco IOS Software Release 12.4(15)T3.
