Lack of range with Storm2

I have purchased a Storm 2 in the UK and have been pleased with the genarl functions and look however...the range of the device is significanlty less than the several Pearls I have used over 4/5 years. This is evident at home but particularly in the car. Following advice from the seller and from BB I have tried many ways of using the phone but with no increase in sensitivity. I drive a well defined route to/from work and so the number of drop outs and their duration is easy to calibrate against other phones and other BBs. BB insist that the phone works the same as other Storm 2s but won't make any comment regarding the comparison with the Pearl. This leaves me very disappointed and I wonder if there is any advice ourt there regarding either the range issue or how to approach BB.

Ok, but I don't accept that, lol, which is why I was encouraging you to check this out.
ALSO -- I've seen this all too often -- Did you move the SIM card from the Pearl to the Storm2?
Go by your store and get a simple SIM swap for a new in the Storm2, and now try it. Many times I've seen a different SIM make a difference. Remember, the Storm is 3G and the Pearl 8100 is not, and newer SIMs work better on the new devices.

Is it possible to create a range with substituion varables for use in a report script. For example instead of listing "Jan" "Feb" "Mar" "Apr" in the report script can I use a sub varaible like Jan:Apr that will list them all out?

while I have not had luck with ranges in report scripts, others have. You could have a substitution variable the is "Jun" "Jul " "Aug" or whatever you want the members to be. and it will replace jusr fine

  • How to create a internal material no. range with alpha

    Hi,
I want to define a internal material no. range with alpha, such as from MPN001 to MPN999. However, SAP ask me type a number isnot alpha.  So, please give me your suggestion. thanks!

Internal number range with alpha numerics is possible.
In sap standard it is NUMERIC only. No other option.
You    can maintan alpha numeric in external number ranges.

  • Can I extend the range with an Airport Extreme?

    Hi there,
Is it possible to extend a wireless network's range with an Airport Extreme (just like you can do with an Airport Express)? Currently I have a Billion wireless modem/router but need to extend the range so I can use my PS3 in my bedroom. I would rather get an Airport Extreme instead of an Express so I can take it with me when I move out. Just need to know if the Extreme will do this as it doesn't mention it on the website.
    Thanks for your time.
    Regards,
    Daniel

    Welcome to the discussions!
+Is it possible to extend a wireless network's range with an Airport Extreme (just like you can do with an Airport Express)?+
The AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and even the Time Capsule can "extend a wireless network", +but... they are only compatible if you have another Apple router as the main device.+
Sorry, but none of the Apple products would be compatible to extend the range of your Billion wireless router using wireless only. You might want to check to see if Billion has a "range extender" or similar compatible device.

  • How Do I Get the Best Range with the Express?

What settings should I use to get the best range with the express? What Radio Mode, Multicast Rate and Transmit Power should I use? What is the estimated area that this will cover?

    +What Radio Mode+
802.11g only would be a good compromise. Here I am assuming when you say that you want the best range that you do not care if better range means lower network speed. Everything in wireless is a trade off. You cannot gain something without giving something else up in return.
    +Transmit Power+
    100%
    +Multicast Rate+
No effect on range, but a good idea to use a lower setting in general
+What is the estimated area that this will cover?+
Not possible to predict without knowing a whole lot more about how many obstructions will be in the signal path, what they are, the construction of your home, other wireless networks and cordless phones around you, etc. and many other factors. Please tell us what you are trying to do with as many details as possible.

  • How to extend the range with a second Airport Express? Do I need a DSL cable?

How to extend the range with a second Airport Express? Do I need a DSL cable?

Thanks, now we need a bit more information, please, in order to provide you with the correct information that you need.
I assume that you already have one AirPort Express.....either a model A1264 or A1392.....set up and operating OK, is that correct?
If yes, you can extend the network either by using wireless or an Ethernet cable with a second AirPort Express.....either the A1264 or A1392 model. A wired connection is the way to go, if possible, since it provides better performance.  But, wireless might work OK for you if you want to try that.
Let us know "how" you want to extend......wireless or wired?

  • PLease guide me to use vendor sub range with functionality

    Dear All,
PLease guide me to use vendor sub range with functionality
    thx

    Hi,
The basic concept of Vendor Sub Range is to use different Purchasing Data as well as Partner Functions for a particular range of products supplied by individual your vendor.
In SPRO you can activate  Vendor Sub-range in following path
    SPRO->Logistic General->Business Partner->Vendors->Control->Define Account Group & Field Selection
In this screen Select your Vendor account group and double click, sys will take to new screen and here you select check box of Vendor sub-range relevant in data retention level-poaching tab and save.
    Now create following master data:
Let’s say you’re purchasing two pumps from your Vendor (V), HDPE and SS manufactured by different company (HDPE and SS ) & they have different purchasing data like payment terms, delivery term etc…
    1. Create two materials HDPE and SS
    2. Create Vendor (V)
    3. Create Info record (ME11) M1 & M2 with vendor (V) and here in each material maintain vendor sub range
    4. Now create PO (ME21), all related data you will get in PO w.r.t. material and save.

  • Extending Range With AirPort Express

Hi, we recently purchased the new Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station and I want to extend the range with my older model AirPort Express. I know the new Base Station is 802.11n and my Express only supports a/b/g, I was wondering if it is still possible to extend the range, and if so, how do you do this?
    Thanks!

Yes, it is possible, and here are the steps...
    AEBSn - WDS Setup
(Note: To facilitate the WDS set up, place the base stations within near proximity of each other during the set up phase, and then relocate them to their desired locations when complete.)
    Main Base Station Setup
    - Click the AirPort status menu in the menu bar and choose the wireless network created by the base station you want to set up as the main base station.
    - Open AirPort Utility (located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Macintosh computer, or in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows).
    - Select the main base station, and choose Manual Setup from the Base
Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window.
    - Enter the base station password if necessary. If the base station is using the
default password of public, you will not be prompted for a password.
    - Click Wireless in the toolbar, and then choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu.
    - Click WDS and then choose “WDS main” from the WDS Mode pop-up menu.
    - Select the “Allow wireless clients” checkbox if you want client computer to connect to this base station.
    - Click the Add button and enter the MAC address of the base stations you want to connect to this base station.
    - Click Update to send the new settings to the base stations in the WDS.
    Remote Base Station Setup
    - Click the AirPort status menu in the menu bar and choose the wireless network created by the base station you want to set up as a remote base station.
    - Open AirPort Utility (in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Macintosh computer, or in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows).
    - Select the remote base station, and choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu.
    - Enter the base station password, if necessary. If the base station is using the default password of public, you will not be prompted for a password.
    - Enter the same network password as the main base station, if necessary.
    - Click AirPort in the toolbar and click Wireless. Choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and choose the same channel as the main base station from the Channel pop-up menu.
    - Click WDS and choose “WDS remote” from the pop-up menu.
    - Enter the MAC address of the main base station in the WDS Main field. The MAC address is also referred to as the AirPort ID and is printed on the label on the bottom of the base station.
    - Click Update to transfer the settings to the base station.

  • I have a 2008 airport extreme, will I get greater range with the new version?

I have a 2008 airport extreme, will I get greater range with the new version of the airport extreme?

I have had both models, and frankly notice little if any difference in range, likely because the broadcast power of wireless routers is set by law, and just about every router is running at 100%.
The dual band feature of the newer model will allow devices that are in close proximity to connect using the 5 GHz band, which runs 2-3 times faster than the 2.4 GHz band.
If you need greater range, you will likely do better by adding something like an AirPort Express to "extend" the wireless signal for greater reach.....rather than simply replacing one AirPort Extreme with another.
Another option....if you opt for the new AirPort Extreme....would be to use it as your "main" base station and use the older Extreme to "extend" the wireless signal.

  • Date ranges with OLE DB

Does anyone know if the issue with date ranges in OLE DB reports using Visual Foxpro databases has been resolved in Crystal Reports 10?

  • Problem w/ wireless range with Time Capsule

Recently set up Time Capsule to swap out my Airport next to my Imac. Also have an Airport Express set up in another room to help extend wireless range. Found now that the range with Time Capsule is not as good as the Airport setup and I can't use my Ipad in the bedrooms furthest away from the Time Capsule. I'm not very tech saavy but would appreciate any suggestions? Thx.

When you set up TimeCapsule did you create a closed network? With a closed network, airport doesn't broadcast the network name, you have to manually enter it to join. This might be your problem. To fix it (or to see if that's what you've done) run Airport Utility and select manual setup. Select the Wireless tab and then click on the Wireless Options button at the bottom of the window.

Hi people, Anybody has a example how it works Key range with Flat file ? Tks

Hi All,  I have one scenario to read the source file . The file delimiter is '|' . The no of pipeline for each line is 17. So if a line containing more than 17 , send an error email. For this first i am printing tota pipeline in ecah line to afile called pipelinecount.txt . Then i will read this file and send each value to while loop /for loop , where it will get > 17 , it will exit the process and send an email.  But here in script i am getting error at while line. Could anyone help.   #! /bin/kshset -x SOURCE_DIR=/vp01/SrcFilessed 's/[^|]//g' /vp01/SrcFiles/Test.txt | awk '{ print length }'> /vp01/SrcFiles/pipelinecount.txtcd $SOURCE_DIRwhile line in `cat pipelinecount.txt`; do if [ $line -eq 17 ];thenecho "No issue in pipeline"exit 0;fiif [ $line -gt 17 ];thenecho "No of pipelines exceeded the expected. • Excel value range with Report Generation Toolkit

I have an excel sheet.  I want to find out the range for cells with values.  At least, I want the find out what's the last row that has values in it.  I tried "Excel Get Last Row.vi" in the report generation toolkit, but it would treat a blank cell as a valued cell if it is filled with another color.  Therefore, that won't work.
I don't want to use active x, and I don't want to write a separate vi to search for the last row.  I want to see is there a way to use the report generation toolkit.  Can I somehow get a hidden method from the class?  I would think that, since they are charging for the report generation toolkit, a simple function like that should be included.  Thanks!
Kudos and Accepted as Solution are welcome!

I am pretty sure that the Report Generation Toolkit does use ActiveX, so you are using it even if you dont want to.
Seems to be how the UsedRange function is being used in the toolkit.
See here for some examples: http://blog.contextures.com/archives/2012/03/01/select-actual-used-range-in-excel-sheet/
I tried, and it does not find the blank cells with colored backgrounds.
This will require some activeX modifications though.
