Lacking of some basic functions of Lumia 920

Hi,
The Lumia 920 is lacking some basic functions as follow:
1. Call history does not show duration of calls.
2. SMS field does not show whether it is sent&delivered or sent&not delivered or not sent without turning on the delivery confirmation, doing so I will receive an SMS from mobile operator.
3. I cannot choose vibrate&ring at same time.
This is so basic and essential so pls work with Microsoft to add these function.

I found one more function that is not good, that is call forwarding, we have a very poor option here, forward or not while we should have other options to forward the call once the phone is unreachable, not answering....
I think MS and Nokia should add these functions into the phone. So far I don't satisfy with this new WP8 as it should have done well as a role of phone.

Missing some basic functionality

I seem to be missing some basic functionality, like switching to tty1-n using Ctrl+Alt+F1-n. I can't begin to guess what this is related to, as after several installs I've never experienced that to be missing. Can anyone point me in the right directions? Thanks.

How do you set up and send a text to someone not in your address book?
For these next two questions I've looked up the answer in my user guide but they direct me to menu>options>General Options. When I go into options there is no General options! So:
How do you change the default on the volumn for incoming calls?
How to I improve sound quality.
And just as a reference, I'm with AT&T and I did not subscribe to the internet-media package. I do have unlimited text messaging which is why I want to know how to do it.

For someone that is not in your address book you can type in the cell number in the "To" field at the top of the screen. To change the default call volume you have to first go into the Phone or Call Log screen. Once you're in there you go into Options | General Options.

Basic functionality missing.

After the downtime yesterday, the speed has improved from completely unacceptable to marginally acceptable, but some basic functionality has disappeared.
1. Usually when more than one answer has been given in a thread, one would have the 'Go to original post' appear. Now it often appears only after 2 or more answer and sometimes not at all.
2. When you recieve a Private message, the 'Your Stuff' field at the top would turn red, to draw your attention. No more.
Whom do we need to contact at Adobe to get some semblance of a functioning forum, instead of this very old Jive crap, that probably makes the Adobe-Admin tear his hair out each day, if he still has any left.

I kept hoping that things would get better, as I was noticing issues leading into the weekend. Well, today (Feb. 15) will be known as "Black Tuesday" in my book, as things keep getting worse.
I had made note of the Replies Count being off, and Replies and Posts coming and going, seemingly at random.
Coupled with the speed issues, the constant logging-in and the "Unexpected Error... " messages, plus the servers just being down, I am about ready to pack it in for today, and declare "wine-thirty" early.

I'm new to using dbms_scheduler. I'm trying out some basic stuff to see how it works

I have not used the dbms_scheduler package before and trying out some basic functionality to see and understand how it works. The below code is what I have writtern

According to my understanding it should print the line inside the procedure 'pr' every 4 seconds, but I don't see any output being shown. Can someone help me understand what exaclty is wrong with my code. I'm using Toad for oracle.

One more question - I'm trying to bring in one more functionality. Lets says - There is a job that needs to be executed every month at a particular time. I schedule it, but I want this job to be executed 'n' number of times.
For example - There is procedure that is called in the scheduler. Since its processes lot of records - I'm breaking down in chunks of data - Say 5 chunks. Now when its scheduled each month at a particular time - it should ideally execute 5 times in order to complete the job for that month. How can this be achieved ? I thought of using max_runs, but that might end the job and never repeat it again.

Are you using CF8's built in AJAX features or did you
implement ExtJS yourself?
ExtJS is not Spry.
The link you supplied is for ExtJS v2.1. CF8 is using v1.0 or
v1.1 (I forget which). v2+ has major differences over v1.x.
You can pretty much do anything under the sun with ExtJS. It
is extremely robust to the point that it can be quite complex. I'm
sure that you can do anything that you need to, it may just take
some digging over at ExtJS to find it.

Lumia 920 India .. missing features and some sugge...

Alrito ppl..i have migrated from nokia 701 (Symbian) to Nokia lumia 920 (Windows 8)

No sim inserted as yet and right now using it in wifi mode only
Since i was a symbian user..some features are very very essential in my daily phone usage (though some are rare)
So the required features/suggested
Camera/Photos :
1.Red eye reduction
2.Self-Timer
3.Details of photos like size,location,resolution, etc etc
4.Number of photos like how many photos are there in an album or phone..
5.wat is the use of having albums tab when u cant create one??!!
Media:
1.Heard that Stereo FM is gonna come soon with the next update of accessing fm radio and can also radio transmittor ?
Hope its coming soon...
2.Cant the equaliser me edited? and also be accessed from the music player ??
3.MKV Format files doesnt play !! (Yes, i have tried it)

1.Internet explorer has a problem.. i use my ie whn wifi is on and later after swtiching off wifi
if i wanna close down ie..i cant because it jst keeps going back to the previous webpage which cannot load due to no access to net !!! plspls fix this .!!
2.Nokia MAPS as compared to my symbian nokia 701 ... the gps access is really really bad.. i had to use my old mobile for using the nokia drive option..
3.I know windows 8 doesnt have ny "file system" but i do hope they bring something like file manager for better access to many other things...
4.many other extentions like .zip, .rar dont work because of lack of apps and no basic functionality to access them..pretty bad for a person using the phone for office purpose..

1. You can use Nokia Creative Studio on the phone to fix red eye.
3. Install "Picture Info" from the store, it's free.
5. You need to ask Microsoft that question but it does show albums you've created in skydrive or facebook
Media:
1. Only a rumour, Microsoft at this moment does not support FM and the next update does not enable it. Even if the L920 did have the required hardware it would only work as a receiver, not a transmitter.
3. I don't believe Microsoft has added support for that.
Others:
1. Microsoft control IE featurs, if you press the menu dots then close all tabs you can easily exit.
2. Weird, GPS works well where I am, make sure you use it with a data connection.
3,4,5,6,7 & 8. You need to suggest that to Microsoft as it is their operating system, not Nokia's.

Nokia Lumia 920 India Launch ! - Some Observations...

Hi,
Being a Nokia fan for years .. I decided to write this .. I hope people at the right level from Nokia see this.
We all know Nokia Lumia 920 has probably hit all the right spots with Users abroad and the best thing is they are loving it a lot. I probably would like to be one of them soon.
However I have certain concerns,
When Nokia launced Lumia in India people had high hopes including myself however one thing that I have always found going wrong is the 'PRICING' .. yes such insanely high pricing at launch .. why ? Look at the pricing of Lumia 800 at launch (around 33k) . Look at the pricing of Lumia 900 still (31k) ? .. Lumia 800 now sells around at the price of 19k !! - almost a 40% drop in price.
The basic thinking in the minds of people including me is 'Don't buy a Nokia phone immediately on launch !!'. Why can't this be changed ? - Yes everybody wants to earn profits but in a situation wherein you are more in search for Mindshare .. This does not make sense. Obviously I am no one to teach anybody anything but this is what I feel & what I have felt for years.
If I buy a Nokia Lumia 920 at launch only to find that after 3 months the pricing has come down by 3-5k .. I will not be a Happy Consumer.
Nokia - Launch Lumia 920 at a very competitive price (so that the likes of SGS3 & HTC 8x will feel ashamed) .. Arrive at a price & keep it steady for real long so that the initial adopters are happy & others come to know that Nokia's pricing is real good and will stay that way for long.
Nokia's Lumia are pretty good phones .. they never lag when compared to Android etc however they have not been well received by people here in India. The most common answer that I get is 'Bluetooth not there - can't transfer files' , 'Can't use memory card ' & 'Apps not available'.
Nokia - you have to change this mindset of people because with Windows Phone 8 these things are no longer hindrances ! .. especially Bluetooth & Micro-sd support.
I am expecting your Ads to have this .. be it on Radio or TV or Internet.
Can we have right people on the Job ? - Recently I went to Hypercity Mall (in Mumbai) (Nokia booth). I took in my hand a Lumia 510. I asked how much RAM ? .. to my surprise he answered 512 Mb .. and I was like What ? I asked him to recheck - still the same answer. He said we have confirmed. The phone actually comes with 256 Mb of RAM.
Now imagine what happens to a consumer who brought this phone from him ?
Nokia - Please get the right people at task for Nokia Lumia 920 & 820 because there you have got some real innovations like PureView, OIS, Wireless Charging etc. Ensure that users get the right demo of all the innovations. First impression will be the Last impression.
At Malls (without Nokia booths), the 2 phones Lumia 800 & Lumia 710 lonely guard the booths .. with rarely anybody there to explain about them. Just on the side of it I find Samsung's booth with all the latest flagships standing there & probably someone to explain about it - however Android needs no explanation these days will all aware about it (& even if not aware they know a phone with it is Cool!).
Nokia - Please set your own booths for Lumia (both WP8 & WP7) & assign one of your Guys per Booth. I really don't know the dynamics of setting up booth at a mall & the financial impact of it. All you need to do is differentiate your Lumia's from others.
Alternatively you can have a Lumia Van (or Lumia Vans) running around the City with all the possible Lumia's on it for doing Demo's. All Lumia's - since a person can come up to check a Lumia 510 too & not having a specific Lumia means Dissatisfaction for the user.
Nokia Lumia 920,820 & 620 are gem of a phones .. Hope everything is done right with them in a price sensitive market like India & I hope that Nokia you are listening to a User's opinion here.

1. How can I configure networking option for individual application (it was standard option before, see N8)
- Can you tell me which particular application/s you are referring to? The phone prioritizes WLAN connection over 3G to ensure quality customer experience.
Example: Nokia Maps - when downloading map data, it would require you to use WLAN as phone would require high amount of data.
2. Where can I find the option like: Automatic, Always ask, WLAN only when using access to data connection
- These options are not available on the device. However, you can find some settings that are similar to what you are looking for:
Settings>Wifi>Tap on Advanced> you will have the following options:
Notify me when new networks are found
Automatically connect to Wi-Fi hotspots
Send information about Wi-Fi connections to help discover nearby Wi-Fi
Keep Wi-Fi on when the screen times out

C2-03 Lacking Some basic options

I have just buy C2-03 and disappointed with some basic options, kindly resolve them in next software update-
1- No option to Type message without opening slide keypad- please add onscreen keypad
2- No option to remove keypad lock during call inprogress and also no option to set keypad lock time.
3- No option to Mark messages to delete or move- please add mark option.
4- No way to decrease brigtness of phone.
5- No option to set different Ring tones for both SIM cards.
Please make these option available through new software update, besides these weekness the phone is excellent.

Lumia 920: Nokia Camera flash won't function

hi guys,
just updated to Nokia camera from Nokia pro cam...afterwards my flash from my lumia 920 wont function anymore. anybody experienced the same thing before? need your assistance..

Are you talking about the light that comes before you take a picture ? , thats not flash it's flash assist to let the phone Auto Focus work probably , you can turn it off from settings (Sorry i have no WP8 phone yet so i can't tell you where exactly , but other reviewers touched on this before.

Nokia Lumia 920 - Not connecting on MAC OSX 10.6.8

I have this problem that alot of people are encounting but it seems having no solutions yet.
I bought my Nokia Lumia 920 a couple days ago, made all the updates alvaible but still I can't connect my phone to my MacBook Pro.
The funny part is that my dropbox application on my mac detect my phone and tries to import my pictures where neither iTunes or Finder are able to recognize my Nokia.
The all support we got is to download a app which is not working for the OSX 10.6.8 and they seem to force us to upgrade to the 10.7 OSX.
It is my right, as a consummer, to choose to OS I want for my laptop and it is to both Windows and Nokia to make their devices compatible to their customers computers.
So here is my call to all Nokia and Windows developpers: Do not ignore us, there is a problem and the first step in order to solve it is to recognize this problem.
The least you can do is to tell us that you are currently working on it because I feel all alone in the dark but I am pretty sure I am not alone and you might loose some clients that are delighted with your phone but really "**bleep**" off the way that they are treated in the process of solving this important problem.

I have to raise a different view point. Many users of macs are ordinary, non-techie people, who simply want a machine to do basic things. I know people with very old macs, and they are happily using them for simple purposes. I have 10.6.8, and any upgrade would cost me some money to upgrade parallels. Macs can run for years, and I believe that it is important for equipment to be able to be used for long periods of time, if the user wishes. Also, earlier OS are very commonly unsed in coutries where money and internet is not as available as to many of us.
I also use a mac with XP as I need a small install base for only one PC based software that I occasionally use.
As a developer, I would expect them to look at the actual installed back of OS, and realise that some simple functionality should be backward to existing users. The ability for a phone to connect to earlier OS is something which I did not even think about - I thought it would be automatic. Its also not that difficult to develop.
The forums are awash with frustrated new pruchasers of Lumia phones, suddenly realising that their expected functionality with PC Suite, etc has now gone. Many of those people are very frustrated, and they will pass on their frustrations to others, and sales will be affected.
I have been a Nokia user now for about six years, and I have watched the same frustrations of users, requesting Nolia to develop expected connection, integration, and sync software that other phone manufacturers seem to be able to do. Finally, a reasonable PC Suite version is now developed, but not compatible with Lumia?? Do we have to go through the whole waiting thing again? Why cannot Nokia look at this not as a software problem, but an expected functionality feature.

Lumia 920 - probability to get infected by a virus...

Dear all,
I'd just like to ask what are the chances of getting infected with a virus from a PC by connecting the Lumia 920 to an infected PC through a USB cable?
Another question - for some reason - when I turn my "Find my phone" feature on, when I go out to the main menu it shows that the Find my phone feature is off. I tried using the windowsphone site to access my phone - so the feature is definitely on - so I wonder why it is displayed as "off" in the Settings menu?

What I can say is if you find out that your PC is infected with a virus it's best not to connect your Lumia phone to that PC first, install and use an anti-virus to clean the PC or connect it another uninfected PC instead.
And as for the find my phone issue, whatever Windows Phone function that's activated in your PC's internet browser doesn't mean it's activated in your Windows Phone sometimes, you still may have to activate the same function on your phone as well.
EDIT: What jimmyireland said was right. The find my phone options in the phone is way too basic, the rest of this function is in the Windows Phone webpage. So try jimmyireland's solution of a hard reset if you still cannot use the full find my phone function.

AT&T Lumia 920 - 2 Freezes in a few days maybe rel...

I've been using my AT&T Lumia 920 for 8 days. Within the first week I have had 2 freezes. Both were while using Bluetooth, but that may be coincidental.
I am not happy about these glitches as I was previously using an AT&T Lumia 900 since April, and it never had problems like this. I expect the 920 to be an upgrade in every regard.
I am seeking:
An explanation as to the cause of these issues.
A permanent solution that will prevent these issues from recurring
The specifics of the 2 incidences are:
First incident:
I was driving & talking on my phone with my Plantronics Voyager Bluetooth headset. I parked at BestBuy & went inside continuing my phone call. In less than 60 seconds, I realized that it seemed like the person on the other end of the phone was being too quite. So I thought maybe the call dropped. I pulled the phone out of my belt holster & found that it showed that the call was still connected. But I could hear nothing. The screen was essentially non-responsive. Within about 1 minute, my screen went black & I couldn't get the phone to do anything. I kept trying to to a soft reset like I did with my Lumia 900 a few times (power button + volume up). This didn't work (I have later learned that the Lumia 920 uses a different button combinatino (power button + volume down). I gave up using my phone & asked the Geek Squad boys if I could use their phone to call my customer back to finish the discussion so that I could confirm I was purchasing the correct product for him. About 30-60 minutes later, I was still periodically trying to figure out how to get my phone to come back to life. I pressed & held two buttons (presumably power + volume down). The phone vibrated & rebooted. Thank goodness.
Second incident:
I was traveling & dictating an email (which I'm glad that Windows Phone 8 now lets us dictate outside of TXT messages. :-). My first attempt returned no results. I then pressed the microphone button again & retry dictating. At this point, it did something unexpected (I really don't recall the exact specifics). From that point, further attempts to dictate did absolutely nothing. I then decided that I'd just type the email instead. I picked up the phone & pressed in the body of the email. The onscreen keyboard appeared. But none of the keys actually typed or did anything. At this point (of course a bit irritated), I tried to get out of the email, and realized that the phone would not really let me do anything. It displayed the empty email and gave me a flashing cursor, but no buttons or keys would do anything. It was like they were all being ignored by the phone. Then I had this though.... After my previous lock-up, I had read a little bit online that some Lumia 920 users had experienced lock ups when using bluetooth. So I thought, maybe if I power off my bluetooth headset, the phone will break the bluetooth connection & maybe will release control of the phone back to me. So I powered off my bluetooth headset. Sure enough, the phone immediately returned to normal (although it did first quickly make a couple of sounds & display regarding the dictation [like basically the last time I pressed the microphone button, dictation wasn't able to come up, so now it finally did come up & then went away again all within about 1 second]). After powering off the bluetooth headset, my phone has been fine. No need to reboot. A few days have passed with no more issues.
So in summary:
Is there a problem with the phone's bluetooth support?
Is there a problem with my headset (I don't think so, it works on other phones just fine, and it works on this phone 98% of the time without problems)?
Who is going to fix the bluetooth problems & when (Nokia or Microsoft)?
Can they be fixed, or are they problems inherent with the phone's bluetooth chip which are irreparable?
Is there any sense in me going back to the AT&T store & swapping for another Lumia 920? (I don't think so. Seems like most everything else with the phone works well [I've had a few other isolated incidents with other things, but so far I've written them off as software glitches that Microsoft or Nokia will fix with time]).
Who should I be reporting this issue to (AT&T? Nokia? Microsoft?)? What is the correct support channel to get the issue resolved most quickly? (I am very willing to work with a competent tech support person to troubleshoot & track the issue over time if necessary in order to help facilitate identifying the root cause of the issue so that a proper permanent fix can be implemented by Nokia or Microsoft.
Have any other users experienced this same problem?
Thanks for your time in reviewing my issue. I have been very excited & enthusiastic about the Lumia 920 & Windows Phone 8. I have tried to promote it with my friends and family. However, when I hit an issue like this which didn't exist on my Lumia 900, I find myself feeling a bit embarassed & frustrated.
By the way, to my knowledge I didn't have any other programs running on my phone during either of these incidents (definitely nothing else running in the foreground).

Don't expect support here. Nokia does not bother to pay a tech or two to support the people who have bought the 920. Not really a point to these forums.
Anyways, i have huge bt issues as well. Cannot connect or see my jawbone. In truck with pioneer nav system (it is illegal here to use a phone without handsfree in vehicle) it links, but when i make a call or receive a call it shows the phone off the receiver icon so it knows call in progress, but i either get no sound from the caller... at all, or i get a robotic mess i cannot decipher. when i cannot hear anything, people can hear me, but when i hear robotic, people can hear me but with distortion. However, when it reads a text message, the phone voice is fine through the system. Because i have to turn bt off then to use phone, i have to return this handset and just go back to android.
Have also had this drop calls a few times now as reception is probably the worst i have seen in a decade... even drops in downtown core. Battery life poor because i assume its always struggling for a signal.

Non Availability of Apps in for Lumia 920 in Oman

I bought Lumia 920 in Oman where I Live. Sadly I can't find enough Apps on Phone Apps. These Apps are available on US marcket but not here. I tried to Install Twitter but it said that Apps is not available in this region. Without Twitter .In People app not all functionality of Twitter available.
Also tried to buy the App like Rowi. But failed because the non availability of app for purchase.
Please any one suggest how to buy apps from Oman or Middle East ?

So, what happens if you - by some mistake - fill some fake US address? After all, the apps are not going to be delivered at you door
