Lag time on Macbook Pro making me nuts

My macbook has a crazy several second (mind-twisting) lag when typing and scrolling in the internet.  I know it's not my internet connection, because other computers work fine.  I took it to Apple and they messed around a little, but didn't solve anything.  Do I go back to them?  It happens whether I'm in Safari or Foxfire, whether or not there are a lot of pages open.  All updates are done.

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
If disk space isn't an issue, try Safari in another user account.
Same problem there, log back into your admin account and check the startup disk.
Launch Disk Utility from your admin account then select the startup disk in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, follow the instructions here >  Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Every time my MacBook Pro is put to sleep, it will not connect to the internet when reopened unless diagnostic assistant is performed. Ridiculous!

Every time my MacBook Pro is put to sleep, it will not connect to the internet upon reopening unless I perform diagnostic assistant.

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
    3. Reset the PRAM.
    4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    9. Reset the System Management Controller.
    10. Reinstall OS X.

  • Boot up time of MacBook Pro 13" 2.5GHz i5 vs MacBook Pro 13" with Retina display with 2.4GHz i5

    Hello
    Does anyone know
"the boot up time of MacBook Pro 13" 2.5GHz i5 vs MacBook Pro 13" with Retina display with 2.4GHz i5?"
    Thanks

    A bit simplifying :
there are two parts in boot process - one-before spinning thing, other - spinning thing to desktop.
First part is hardware inits, you can not speed it up. It is for sure longer for your MBP than for her - its normal, more hardware and it is more sophisticated so longer init.
Second part depends on HD (SSD) speed.
Say so - I have M4 SSD and second part is 1 to 2 spins until login window. Should be more or less same for you.
If it is not so - probably something is not good with filesystem and some config files, most probably due to cloning instead of install. Reboot from recovery, repair drive (first - drive as a whole, second - boot partition), then reboot permissions. reboot two times as normal. see what'll happen with timing.

  • I get an error mess when trying to complete backup "The backup disk image "/Volumes Time Capsul MacBook Pro.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error -1).

When trying to use my time machine got an error message "Time Machine could not complete the backup.
The backup disk image “/Volumes/ Time Capsul/ MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1).
    Any ideas?

I have not found a long-term solution (fix), but in my case the volume where the Time Machine backup should occur usually is mounted on the desktop but not as a shared volume (incidated as a drive with the people holding hands superimposed over the drive icon). If I drag the drive to the trash (unmount it), the next time Time Machine is scheduled to run, it completes successfully.

why my macbook pro making lot of noise inside. Is it something to do my shutting down. I usually shut down my system in every week.
Can anybody provide any solution on this.

What kind of noise and when?  There are fans inside that run at various noise levels keeping things at the right temperature.  There is a hard drive, unless you have SSD, that can make noise when the stepping motor moves the track arm.  There is an optical drive that makes noise at startup.
There are noises when you move the MBP and the motion sensor engages.

  • Sudden lag/stutter in macbook Pro mid 2012

So I have a OSX Yosemite Mac with new SSD Harddrive and upgraded 16GB Ram.
Went on Holiday for a weekend and came back forgot to shut down the laptop so battery had died, recharged and ever since it is back up the whole computer has a 2second lag spike (only way I can describe it) while doing everything. While im typing this, sometimes it freezes and 1 or 2 seconds later the written text appears. While watching a video it will stutter and freeze only to continue 1 second after. While playing a game same stuttering appears.
The computer worked fine before the holiday so I don't know what has happened. No Updates needed, I reset the SMC but no improvement. It used to be super fast going to finder and different applications whereas now if I go into mail and click on a mailbox folder, sometimes the wheel of death appears and it takes 2 seconds to load and I have no explanation why.
Any help greatly appreciated as this is driving me insane.

  • Magic mouse jumpy/lag/stutter/glitchy (macbook pro)

I just recently brought a Magic Mouse from the mac store, and I'm about to take it back. I've seen lots written about similar problems, jumpy/lag/stutter/glitchy mouse, but none recently that I could find. And none that have fixed my mouse.
    The Problem:
My mouse is often jumpy, unresponsive and unusable. It jumps across the screen, either laggy or in a stuttering motion. I will then use the trackpad since I cant use the mouse and the trackpad works perfectly. So i know it's not a process running, or the laptop running slow.
It will sometimes work if it's just been sitting there a long time, like if I come back in the mornings it may work well for about 10-15 minutes, but then stop.
What I've tried: (With no luck)
    - Multiple services, the desk, books, mouse pad etc.
    - Changing batteries
    - I even tried a trick of putting paper between the batteries because apparently the connections are bad and can cause the mouse to disconnect.
    - I upgraded to the mac beta testing OSX, someone had tried that and it worked for them, it did not for me.
    - One guy slams the mouse on the table and it fixes it... I didn't want to try that.
    - I have compressed air, cleaning out the sensor etc.
    - Having the bluetooth forget the device then reconnecting it
    - I've also connected other bluetooth devices and had no issues in the past
    - Resetting the pram and smc
    - Prayed to Lord Jobs offering a sacrifice
    My Macbook Pro:
    Yosemite 10.10.3
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011)
    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
I like the look and feel of the mouse, and when it works it's great, so I hope i'm not forced to get some ugly logitec mouse or something...

Well, they have to, really.   How else would they justify the cost of the 'free' replacement.   Thing is, if you live near an Apple store you really must use their facilities.   That is why you pay their prices for a quality item.
Don't think of yourself as being a nuisance, there is a certain entitlement in buying Apple ... and you are entitled.

  • Macbook Pro making loud and weird noise

Okay, so I was just watching some videos on youtube and I fell asleep. Even the battery drained to zero% and hibernated. Then after around 7 hours when I woke up, and turned it on again then it started to make really weird noise from inside like hmmm I couldnt figure what was the problem, either the speakers? Fan? Hard-disk? Superdrive?
Then I turned it off and turned on again. It was quiet for a moment until the log in window appeared and started to making same noise again. Then I cleared PVRAM or something holding down Command+Option+P+R and Power Button then it is kinda fine now but still loud enough to bother people.
It seems like some wire or hmm something is stuck inside some moving part inside it but I am not sure. I just keep my Macbook Pro on the table all the time as a desktop I have never had such problem before.
Help please? What do I need to do? It's a

You said at the start that the battery discharged completely...did you plug the MBP in and recharge?  Does the MagSafe show it is charging or running on AC?
Does the noise sound lik a clicking, sound the hard drive stepping motor makes?  Or is it more of a hum, or a grating sound?  If the latter it could be a fault with a fan or a bad bearing in the hard drive.
    How does it perform otherwise?
Might be a good candidate for a visit to the Apple genius bar and have the techs run some diagnostics.

  • Brand New MacBook Pro making clicking noise whenever unibody is touched

This is rather strange. and i find it disturbing.
i just got my brand new macbook pro with i7.... and i put it on my lap, everytime I type or slightly touch the side of the computer (say areas next to the mouse pad), the computer internally is making those clicking noise sound like something is being bent, it is hard to explain, but all the tiny clicking and popping sound....at the start i thought it was the ethernet cable, the metal connectors were flicking against something, but then i realised its not...
when we put our hands on the laptop and type, we are bound to press on the surface of the unibody, and this annoying sound is happening all the time. i can say it doesnt sound like a HD sound, it just sounds like metal clicking against each other or something

I have the exact same problem on my brand new i7 MBP 15. The clicks are very high in pitch and sharp, and startling like something is breaking, and happen frequently. They seem to happen quite for no apparent reason other than, you know, I click the trackpad-button or something. The clicks seem to be coming from the left side... possibly lower left but I can't be certain. (It does agree with your ethernet impression.)
It does not feel acceptable at all-- I'd be very surprised if Apple thinks this is "normal."
The timing is totally random. I can't seem to really cause it on demand.
Anecdotally, it seems to only happen when running on my lap. I can't find anything in my keys or wallet that affects the computers, so I'm not sure if this is related.
And NO, it's absolutely positively NOT freefall detection that's causing this. You can verify this by simulating freefall (safely!). Hold the computer firmly, and lower it somewhat quickly by several inches. You get a very different, soft click that's not whatsoever alarming. This softer "parking" click also comes from a different place in the computer, on the right hand side.

  • Time Machine - MacBook Pro works, MacBook doesn't

Last night, in the middle of a Time Machine backup to our 500 GB Time Capsule, my wife's MacBook said the backup failed.
Today, I tried a manual backup by saying "Back up now" in the menu bar, and the thing hung at "Preparing". So I restarted the MacBook and tried again.
This time, the backup got past "Preparing", but got as far as "74MB of 74MB" before hanging. Using Get Info on the disk image on the Time Capsule showed that there were no longer any writes being made to the Time Capsule, but Activity Monitor showed that the MacBook was still acting as though it was sending packets to the Time Capsule.
Restarted the MacBook, tried again. This time, the fans spun up to maximum on the MacBook, and the backup still didn't complete.
I trashed the Time Machine preferences in Library/Preferences, restarted the MacBook again, and behold, the backup to the Time Capsule finally completed.
Now the MacBook has an entirely different problem - Time Machine takes upwards of 20 minutes to launch, if it will launch at all, and the MacBook's fans spin like crazy while trying to launch it. The Finder just says "Connecting to backup volume". I've checked Console to see if it has any helpful information, but it doesn't tell me anything.
I've also tried restarting the Time Capsule itself, and that did nothing.
My MacBook Pro works just fine with the Time Capsule, and Time Machine launches with barely a hiccup. My wife's MacBook simply does not want to play nice, though, and I'm out of ideas.

Getting the same issues on an iMac with a 1TB Time Capsule. All working OK for a month or so, then it hung at "Preparing" and I just get "connecting to backup volume" when trying to open Time Machine. Cannot get to backup or allow me to enter Time Machine at all.
Furthermore, I have an extended network with an Airport Express which has also gone down, although the Time Capsule is still working effectively as a wireless router itself.
Tried restarting both Time Capsule and iMac with no success.
Didn't try trashing preferences in Library/Preferences yet...
Any advice would be much appreciated.
