Lagging & Crashing

I have been having a lot of trouble with random apps crashing, both during startup & while in use (but mainly during startup). It is not any one app, or even type of app, it's happened with a lot of them (games, banking, productivity, even music). It is also moving really slow, especially when typing. I keep approx. 1/2GB of free space on the iPod.
I have read on other boards to perform a restore, but I am scared of losing everything I have saved on the iPod.

OK, I will try it. I was just nervous about restore, because if I manually remove an app, then reinstall, all of my info is gone... Thanks!

Huge CPU and HDD load without a reason. And lots of bugs, lags, crashes and freezes

So with latest updates Firefox became as shitty as Google Chrome and other browsers made by marketers instead of programmers.
Everyday I see crashes, lags, freezes. If I open more than 5 tabs - lags with flash-video guaranteed. If I open large pages (9Gag) - there's a big chance of "black screening" of all the tabs until restart.
Why previous versions worked fine? In the same hardware.

Why do I have to restart my browser each 30 minutes to prevent that bugs? Why my CPU and HDD loaded as hell by fckng browser when I can't even use this browser?
What a hell are you doing there, developers?

I thought it will be attached automatically when I installed addon for this and saw "attach something" button.

Photoshop lagging/ crashing whenever I use any brush.

Hi guys,
I've found recently that Photoshop (CS5) is lagging or completely crashing when I use any of my brushes. I'm doing a painting in one document at the moment and it's near on impossible because every time I make a brush stroke it takes 10 seconds or so to recover. And now it's got to the point where I'm trying to smudge things but every time I make a stroke it crashes PS completely. I'm fed up.
I've turned off Enable GL drawing and I've made sure I don't have too many programmes running in the background on my computer, and I'm unsure what else to try. (I have Windows 8, if that's relevant).
Anyone got any advice?

Updated driver for video card.
Disabled third party plugins.
Restarted Photoshop, restarted computer, no difference.
How do I look for bad fonts? I am not convinced that will be the problem, though.
Not sure what to do next.

Firefox lags/crashes/freeze All in One!

I'd just reformatted my laptop and installed a fresh copy of the latest firefox. Then, I found that things weren't right as it keeps lagging/freezing and crashes from time to time especially when you're opening a few new tabs at once. Since the previous firefox worked fine, I thought it might be the latest version having problems, so I downloaded the older version and even upgraded to the current 20.0 beta but all failed!
Right now, I have no clue if it's the problem of my computer or firefox itself. Other browsers worked perfectly fine chrome etc except firefox.

Hello natalieabby, try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) and check it again.
(If works in Windows Safe mode then you have a problem with other software, like security software[antivirus, firewall] or a system driver, that is running on your computer).

Lagging / crashing since installing OS X Lion

I just downloaded Lion last night and since programs and system are either lagging or crash and I have had to reboot Macbook Pro several times! Never had this issue anyone know a fix?

Apple does not monitor these discussion groups except to moderate them. It is our responsibility to track down and resolve individual problems. If we find a cause that is truly a bug, then we should file bug reports. But we have to find out the problem first. It isn't fair to Apple to fill up the bug report system with 3000 reports of spinning beach balls. All that will happen then is that Apple will close public access to the bug reporter.

Games keeps lagging/crashing on ipod touch 4

The games keeps lagging.If not, it crashes.All non gaming apps works fine.I don't know if this is ahrdware or software issue.I tried resetting, factoring the ipod but its still happening.My ipod is running ios 6.1.6.

ITunes Troubles.. Lagging, Crashing.. FAILING!

So i recently formatted my EXT HDD to split it into 2 partitions (for scratch disk purposes). I burned all 35GB of music, and proceeded to load back up once formatted.
my first problem began when trying to playback all the music i put back on... a ton of the music seemed to not be findable for iTunes. so i had to manually search each song and import it thru finder.. sooooo insane i know.. mac's are supposed to be easy!
second, and more importantly... there's a ton of songs in itunes that lag my computer to the point iTunes doesn't respond. i have to force quit soooo many times its pathetic. what type of issues would be causing this, and can someone pleaaase help me fix!

Tagging through iTunes should not have caused the problem - I have over 12,000 tracks in my library, and I have changed id3tag info on at least half of them (though not all at once). Removing the tags with WMP may have exacerbated the problem - I've read there are issues between iTunes and WMP, though I cannot confirm this.
I have two suggestions - first, see if you can determine if there is a specific track crashing iTunes. If so, remove that song from your library and try again. If you cannot determine a problem track, then the other suggestion is to delete your library again, then start creating it again bit by bit - add a few artists, sync, add a few more, and so on. You may just have one or two corrupt tracks that are giving you problems.

IPod Touch Lagging & Crashing

Very often, my iPod touch lags, or crashes frequently. It's been doing it since 1.1.4, and ever since restoring to 2.0, and now updated to 2.0.2, it's still doing it. Sometimes the song skips, the seek slider doesnt work (ill slide it to the middle of the song, but the song keeps playing and the elapsed time just freezes).
So now what? And don't tell me to restore. I have 9500+ songs on iTunes and going to 2.0 was a pain in the ***. Unless theres a way to save on the music on my iPod touch dont even mention it.

I had the same problem on 1.1.4, it hasn't happened again since 2.0 (Of course, I didn't restore from a backup when I went from 1.1.4 to 2.0 to be safe)... Probably an issue with 1.1.4 that carried over in the backup. If that is the case, I have found that restoring the iPod from a hard restore mode (AKA DFU: Sleep for 5 sec, sleep and home for 10 secs, home for about 15) and telling it to setup as a new iPod when it's done restoring (It *****, I know) instead of restoring from a backup can generally fix it, as backups seem to carry over glitches sometimes. Sorry about the restoring and whatnot (They are a real pain, I've had to do it 10 or 11 times before).
Now, if that's not it, it could be that the iPod just can't take that many songs and such. Maybe try eliminating the stuff you don't really listen to that much, the apps that you don't really need, etc. etc.... basically just cut back on the stuff piled onto the iPod.
If neither of those work though, only thing I can think of is a hardware problem, in which case send it in to Apple. I don't particularly like any of those solutions, just my thoughts. Here's hoping that somebody has a better alternative to both...

Extreme Lag/Crash on New iPad iTunes App

when browsing the store, i get extreme lag on both page updating, touch ( when scrolling on screen, no response), and in a couple cases the iTunes App just flat out crashes to home screen
after waiting for a time it does show stuff, but missing alot of images/parts of page

it does NOT do then when in the App Store, or any other app
crash logs show a couple Low Memory's with only "MobileStore " as largest process ( only app running )

I have been getting many LowMemory and MobileStore crashes since 2012-04-29
I updated to iOS 5.1.1 today hoping it would fix the problem but it is just the same.
I have 2.3GB spare.
most problems seem to be with podcast pages with multiple entries.
mobileStore has been painfully slow since they added the DOWNLOADED symbols.
I had difficulty getting iTunes to see the iTouch, even after updating to the latest version (10.6.1.7)
since 5.1 I have normally had to stop and start apple services before seeing the iTouch in iTunes.

KDE: After new font install Times New Roman lags/crashes OpenOffice

Hallo all,
This problem has been troubling me since I first switched to Linux with Open Suse a couple years back. I got around it on Kubuntu without installing new fonts...
But the other day I decided to give it a go, thinking it might be a bug in KDE3 that was fixed in 4. So I installed a ton of fonts for Photoshopping and now, just like the first time, Times New Roman looks ugly in OpenOffice and if I'm trying to open a document that's .doc or .rtf and written in Times it lags Writer and typically crashes instead of opening. This is a problem since friends send me stuff all the time and they are Windows users.
Strangely if I print with Times it looks like it's supposed to but otherwise it's ugly. It looks this way in KOffice, too. I'm not so much concerned with that as I am with the lagging and crashing Writer, though.
If this is a bug then it must be pretty old. Has anyone else encountered this before?
The Defaults button is also grayed out in the KDE Font Installer. Anyone know why? If I can just revert to default with fonts then I will.

I have installed the MS fonts. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. This problem only started when I installed a bunch of new fonts that I've collected over the years for Photoshopping.
Using the replacement thing doesn't work, either; whenever I open a Times New Roman doc the font is still the same. It only freezes or crashes for really long documents but that's still a problem for me. Also it looks really ugly.
I'd honestly be fine if I could just restore the defaults but the Defaults button is grayed out in the font installer
I only assume that that would fix it, though. I think the problem is that one of the fonts I installed messed up Times New Roman. The problem is that I've got hundreds of em and I don't know which ones are mine and which ones came with KDE/MS fonts.

LMS Lag/Crashing

In Captivate 6, I have built projects with 5-13 slides, inserted videos (800x600) using “Progressive Download” and “Modify slide duration to accommodate video”, added 3 quiz questions at the end of the video and added a Table of Content. Publishing the project I used SWF, Scorm 1.2 and Unclicked the “Preloader”.
My question is; when I send this file to my client and they upload it to their LMS and clicking ahead to another topic on the TOC the computer is VERY slow and sometimes crashes the computer. Is this something to do with the LMS server they are using or in the project file I can modify?

First point...please don't double post or triple post your questions. You'll annoy people here and it won't get your question answered any sooner.
With regard to the lag issue, my best guess is that clicking a TOC link to a slide later in the movie is causing Captivate to load all the slides in between where you currently are and that other slide, which in your case means that Captivate is loading several video files played on the interim slides as well. You need to remember that Captivate content is like a movie file, not like a collection of random web pages. So when you tell Captivate to jump to another slide, by default (by design) it first needs to load all the other interim slides in order to know whether or not any of them will have code or interactions or objects that might be required for the destination slide.
If you want to test this, move the target slide to within a couple of slides of where you are clicking from, and then publish/test this version to see if the response is quicker.

Lagging, Crashes and weird start up

Hello! I have an iMac and for a few months I've been having problems. It started with my wacom tablet not responding or lagging then progressed to all my programs lagging or flat out quitting. Now when I say lag I mean a lengthy lag- to the point that working in Photoshop is impossible. I also have a problem during start up- I fire it up with the power button, it starts up and goes to the silver apple with the spinny thing under it and...thats it- nothing else happens. I power it down, shut it off and wait a beat and power it up again and it starts up completely, with no problems except the long annoying lag when I try to open anything. I tried an archive & reinstall which took 24 hours to do- maybe thats the right amount of time but it didnt seem right to me. Anyhoo, I fired it up again, hoping for the best and still I have an incredible lag. I went to JustAnswer.com and got a mac tech to help me with some diagnostics. This is what we did- a start up holding shift, then a reboot holding the "command & s" keys then I entered a fsk command which ran a diagnostic and came up with NOTHING! I had already run disk utility, disk warrior and Norton and all of those brought up no problems. I don't have any of my art on the computer anymore so theres no massive files hogging memory. I've chucked all the programs I dont use ( sorry garage band & comic life).Help! Please help...I am a not so starving artist and Ive always been able to trouble shoot & maintain a healthy mac myself w/o paying a tech but this has me stumped and pulling my hair out. Hubby has the exact same set up and his is healthy as can be. Taint fair I tell you! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like a Hardware problem.
Boot off your Install Disk while holding down the *d key*, (not c key), then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT. Some models have a separate AHT CD.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode...
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it is some 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

App lags/crashes in only one user account

No test repos enabled, Gnome desktop.
Nautilus file browser is slow and will crash while opening some folders.
Same issues with GTK pacman. (only used for looking at packages. all package manipulation with pacman cl)
This problem started over a month ago and only recently I'm trying to troubleshoot it.
If I log in as test user or root, everything runs as it should.
Would switching between the following 64bit packages to lib32 and back to 64bit possible create application problems in one user account?

I have tried reinstalling packages including nautilus and even gnome desktop and gnome extras, removed any ~/ .nautilus files I could find etc.
Any suggestions would be more than welcome other that creating a new user account.....that would be easy but I wouldn't learn a thing...
I have searched and found many similar nautilus issues dating back several years, but the fix was usually package updates or reinstall nautilus.
I have filed a bug at bugzilla gnome, but still trying to find a solution in the meantime.

Confirming this is still issue with 10.8.2 (MacBook Pro Retina 15"), network disk connected to AirPort Extreme.

New Update Lagging/Crashing

I updated Skype, but it lags like crazy. Before I updated, it worked perfectly and could even run multiple games at once. I restarted Skype in an attempt to fix it, but made the situation worse. Help?

I'm having the same issue. Removing all podcasts seems to keep it stable (but that's pretty useless isn't it?).
Most of my podcasts are added manually which may be the issue, perhaps its missing some tags that the new version depends on? When I remove the manually added ones it works fine.
Either way this *****, and we'd appreciate a bugfix real soon Apple.
