Laggy Menus in Premiere Elements 10?

I've been using Premiere Elements 10 for a while now, and the menus and response times are very, very slow. Maybe this is a graphics card issue? I run AMD A8 with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card.
Help is very, very appreciated!

OS: Windows 7
AMD A8 3.4 GHz Quad Core with 8 Gigs of RAM
651 Gigs are free of 919 available in the C drive
I'm not using a camcorder, I am recording gameplay footage from a pc game, the format is .avi and is 1920x1080
I selected the settings that are correct for my clips.
It's not really the clips that are having problems, its the menus in general. The fact that the clips directly from the game that are in .avi format DO slow down the speed, but after I put them together then render them and open up my real project and place the pre-rendered clips that are .mpeg, the process speeds up much, much more. This may be one of the problems, but I don't think this can be the only one. For example, even without clips in the project the menus are still a little unresponsive and scrolling speed is sluggish.

  • Menus in Premiere Elements 12

Previously, I have used Adobe Encore CS3 to add videos to the  menu.  In Encore you can add as many separate videos as you want to the menu.  You can play them separately.  I do not see this feature in Premiere Elements 12.

Are you referring to Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc and AVCHD on DVD disc, or DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc?
Hope I am interpreting you question correctly....
If you have more than one movie on the Timeline and want to navigate through them in a menu after burn to, Timeline markers, including stop markers, need to be placed on the Timeline at the indicated locations. Stop markers are an essential part of this type of workflow.
HOWEVER, stop markers in the Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc or AVCHD on DVD are not recognized by the players. Stop markers function for this kind of workflow for DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
If your question does go to Blu-ray and AVCHD described above, then, if you want to keep Premiere Elements in the workflow and achieve you menu navigating goals, you would have to export your Premiere Elements Timeline content to a file and then import that file into a 3rd party software for menus (which support a stop marker or stop marker like feature) and burn to disc.
Please let us know if the above targeted your question.
    Thank you.

    General
and in the General Folder is the Generic One Folder with the theme's assets..

With versions earlier than 11, there is no more Sign In. If you get any message to that effect, ignore and cancel out of them. You should be able to move forward to your import, editing, and exports using the program nonetheless.
As for the disc menus, those marked photoshop.com plus members only are no longer available to you in versions of Premiere Elements earlier than 11. You may see the thumbnails for those members only items, but they are no longer available to you in Premiere Elements earlier than 10.
Interestingly, many of them are found in Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 as part of the program with no need to purchase them or have any special membership in anything. Adobe has promoted Adobe Revel as a replacement for photoshop.com, but that has no impact on this disc menus issue.
This all has to do with Adobe discontinuing photoshop.com and photoshop.com plus et al.
If you need to download regular disc menus for Premiere Elements 10, please review the following
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE 7, 8, 9,10: Content Download
    Bottom lines:
    1. No more Sign In for Premiere Elements 10
    2. No access to photoshop.com plus (members only) disc menus
Any questions or need clarification on anything written, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • Are Disc Menu Templates Restricted to Certain Versions of Premiere Elements

I ask this question after visiting the movipix site to look at what templates I might add to my PrE 9 program. This got me to wondering if templates are restricted to certain versions of PrE. After reading various posts in this forum I thought I was getting the message that any templates from Premiere Elements 4 to Premiere Elements 10 were interchangeable. It was a matter of inserting the subfolder from one program into the category folder of another program?
If I were to order a template from the movipix website would I have to check to make sure which versions it would work in? I read where version 9 had some problems with some templates that would not allow menu background video or pictures to show up on the burned dvd even though it was in preview before burning. AT Romano had played with some of the templates but I never could find out if the problem was resolved by Adobe.
    Thanks

    ATR,
Thank you for your response. A wealth of information. Quite a bit of it I had already read. You've gone to a lot of work. Of most interest to me were a couple of posts. One in this forum "Using Disc Menus from Premiere Elements 4 in Premiere Elements 12". (Sorry I didn't copy the message #). The other detailed post was in Elements Village Premiere Elements forum.  http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73006&highlight=templates+folder
These posts are explaining pretty much how to install additonal templates, either between versions, or downloaded templates? Very good. One question on the Elements Village post though. You mentioned deselecting "Read Only" in the properties dialog box of the folder to be transferred. Is this only necessary if transferring from one computer to another? or should this be done when transferring from one PrE version to another within the same computer?
I think you have answered my question on using menu templates across the board from PrE version 4 thru 12. Just a matter of getting them in the correct folders as you have pointed out in your various posts. And it appears that only PrE 9 had the issues that didn't get fixed by Adobe as far as menu background & audio not getting burned to disc?
To give more details on the Menu and Scene Selection buttons. I should have said PLAY ALL instead of Menu. I did not modify them. I merely dragged the Play All button to the bottom left and the Scene button to the bottom right of the Main Menu page. The arrows pointing to them went along with the text. But on the burned DVD they seem to be reversed when the arrow is highlighting the choice to be made. Play All selects Scenes and vice versa. I probably won't be using this template again anyway but was interesting.
Not sure where to post this next question. Is there a way to start a post? where members can list a few of their favorite Disc Menu Templates that they use all the time? Kind of a vague question but I'm guessing out of all of the available templates in each of the versions of PrE only a few get used over and over. As the list would grow people could vote (?) on various ones and some kind of master list might be produced for future use or download. For example: PrE version (or a downloaded version like from Movipix ) used, templates used, categories (ie:general, entertainment, etc.) It seems as though a new version introduced adds some templates and takes some away. Then people are left looking or trying to figure out how to replace them (such as transferring them as we have been discussing)
    Thank you for your time

  • Premiere Elements 11 -- Visual C++ Runtime Error when trying to add Movie Menus

Premiere Elements seems to be working fine in all reapects, except when I try to add Movie Menus, nothing shows up in the Movie Menu area, and eventually I get a Visual C++ Run time error as shown in the attached image.  When I click OK, the program crashes.  This is repeatable.
I am running Windows 7 with latest Service Pack.  I am running dual GeForce cards, with the latest drivers.  No other software is giving me any issues.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Steve,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have my two graphics cards SLI sttings properly configured, and they have been working correctly for every other Premiere unctionality, as well as all of the rest of CS6 applications (and Lightroom).  I have double-checked that I do have the latest drivers from nVidia's site.
I do have the latest QuickTime software.
I have gone in and updated all of the optional Windows updates.
I keep getting the same error, but I think I can describe it better.
When I go into the Movie Menu panel, the "Add a theme" link in the panel does not respond.  When I click the Menu Theme button in the upper right corner of the Movie Menu panel, I do get the library of themes to select from, but when I select one, it does not load in to the panel.  (It does download the content from online, though it doesn't show on the screen. I just see the "Add a theme" link in the middle of the page.)  The Adjustments panel on the right is completely blank.
I can click the "Done" button to close the Movie Menu panel.  But when I try to open the Movie Menu panel a second time, it crashes immediately and I get the error message from my last post in this thread.
I have repeatedly re-booted my computer, but I get the identical behavior.  All of the other functionality of Premiere Elements still work.
If the next receommendation is to re-install the software, do I have to move my projects anywhere?  Or do I just leave them and re-install?
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • Premiere Elements Disk Menus does not show in replay using Mac Pro OS X 10.9.3

I recently installed Premier Elements 12 on my Mac Pro OS X 10.9.3 (Maverick).
Naturally I want to get the highest possible quality to show off on the TV using a standard DVD player.
Outputting to DVD not using AVCHD retains the menu but not on AVCHD, what am I doing wrong?
The Output Quality using just DVD and not AVCHD is lousy, what have I missed?

    SigiPC
    Thanks for the reply.
    Objective Miscellaneous
Let us start with your objectives. If you are restricted to a DVD disc, then your export choices from Premiere Elements will be
    DVD-VIDEO widescreen on DVD disc (720 x 480 stretched to 856 x 480 for display after encoding)
    or
    AVCHD format on DVD disc (1920 x 1080 16:9)
Disc menus are possible as described for main menu page, scene menu page, main menu markers and scene markers. The players will recognize the stop markers placed in a Premiere Elements burn to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, but will not recognize the stop markers in a Premiere Elements burn to AVCHD on DVD disc. There should not be problem with main menu markers or scene markers in either choice.
Also, AVCHD on DVD is not playable in the standard DVD player. You need a Blu-ray player that supports AVCHD on DVD disc. Many do, but some may not. The specifications of the player is your guideline.
For AVCHD on DVD disc, you do not need a Blu-ray DVD burner to burn to AVCHD on DVD disc. That can be done with a DVD burner.
And, under all conditions, a stop marker should never be placed at the end of the last item on the Timeline.
    Specific Replies
What disk menu?  I am talking about “disk menus” as per page 243 of Premiere Elements Manual.
It was my impression that you said that "Disc Menus Do Not Show...", so I was asking which specific disc menu theme are you using? And, is this "do not show" applicable to all the disc menu themes that you have tried to work with?
I am using a Panasonic Blu-Ray player on the TV.
Are the disc menus of your Premiere Elements DVD-VIDEO or AVCHD on DVD not displaying solely with this Panasonic player? Or, is the same observed with computer playback of the DVD product? If the missing menus in the end product issue that brought you here involves solely the Panasonic player, then I would ask if you have checked the player for any option that would control the display of menus in the playback?
Not sure if I am using “interlaced video” but you would know from my input sources mentioned above.
You wrote "My source media is output from iPhoto and Fotomagico slide shows whose output is MP4 MOV or M4V and if played back in Quicktime are of very acceptable quality (H.264 1920X1080)". That does not tell me if 1080p or 1080i, but I suspect that it is 1080p. The MediaInfo properties readout will give a definite answer.
    http://download.cnet.com/MediaInfo/3000-2169_4-10413046.html
Just be careful for unwanted carry alongs with the MediaInfo free program. But iPhoto and Fotomagico should be telling you before export whether you are exporting 1080i or 1080p. My main focus on the Premiere Elements 1080p DSLR aspects related to slideshow is the fact that that Premiere Elements DSLR project presets seem to give consistently a sharper photo image in the end product. So when applicable (photo and video wise) it is the preferred route for me and others.
“Quality area” and space requirements are not of concerns at this stage since present show length is not even 30 minutes – or should I be concerned for some other reason but space?
As routine, the Quality area Space Required and Bitrate should be known, even for your 30 minute Timeline content duration. You should be working with a check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space" and watching the Bitrate in that area. Anything lower than the maximum 8.00 Mbps indicates that the program is making a fit by lowering the Bitrate. The extent that it does not impacts the quality of the end product. Also, of note, the that Bitrate is a variable one in the end product.
This may or may not affect what you are doing now, but it is important information to include in the discussion "just in case".
Also, related trivia...DVD disc marked 4.7 GB/120 minutes is in reality 4.38 GB; DVD disc marked 8.5 GB/240 minutes is in reality 7.95 GB.
Are we any closer to getting at why your disc menus are disappearing after end product creation in Premiere Elements and at playback with your Panasonic player?
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Problems getting Disc Menus to work using Adobe Premiere Elements 10

I am putting together a presentation using Premiere Elements 10.  I have the entire presentation complete and I want to add a Disc Menu so I can have a screen that will allow me to pick parts of the disc to run when I watch the DVD.  When I pick the DISC MENUS area on the screen for the program I can see menus that I should be able to drag and drop but it doesn't work and it asks me to sign into Adobes website. what am I doing wrong?

    1woodchuck2
Several possibilities for the problem. First. are you selecting photoshop.com plus member only disc menu choices. If so, photoshop.com plus is discontinued and you need to use one of the non photoshop.com plus menus. If that does not apply to your situation, then please read on.
Did your Premiere Elements 10 purchase came from box or online download purchase.
If box, did you ever install Content from the Content disc after you installed the program from the program installation disc?
    or
If online download, did you ever install Content from Adobe via the link
    http://www.adobe.com/special/premiereel/downloads/
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/10/pe-7-8-910-content-download.html
When you are in Premiere Elements 10, how many disc menus are available to you to choose from?
Please review, answer the above, and then we can move on based on your details.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 9 AIDE-HELP (menus)

    I have the  IMac 2013  i5.
When I'm working on Adobe Premiere ELements 9, the program is opening a message which is telling me that there's an error. Then the program closes. It ALWAYS happens when I'm trying to put a menu in my video. It is related to this action. I don't know what to do... I tried to uninstall the program but nothing changed unfortunatelly... I don't know if the problem's related to Adobe or to the IMac...
I'm also not able to install the latest Adobe Flash Player (12) on my IMac.
I really need some help please! Thank you!
Merci!

    About the 9.0.1 Update.
If you open a project to the workspace and go to Help Menu/Updates and click on Updates, do you see a 9.0.1 Update waiting for you to download and install it? You need to indicate in preference in that area if you want to be notified about updates in the menu bar. Otherwise, periodically you just check Help Menu/Updates to see what is there. You can also get the 9.0.1 Update online from Adobe and install it even with Premiere Elements 9 closed.

    About Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs
Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs is not a folder. It is a file.
    As I wrote previously....
But, for the menu situation, I would still like know the results from deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs settings file with the following route
    User
    User Name
    Libraries
    Application Support
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9.0
and in the 9.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete.
Can you find the above path and the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file in your Mac computer?
Do not delete anything unless it has the exact name Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs.
With Premiere Elements Windows, the user has to be set up with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that the path can be seen. I do not have Mac. So, I would ask "Does the Mac have a feature which you can enable so that you can see Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives?" If so, please enable it to determine if you can see the path to the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file.
    About the Titler and Styles
I wanted you to go to Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Timeline workspace, click on Title Menu/New Title/Default Still to open the Titler. In the Titler, I wanted to know if you saw the thumbnails for the Text Styles or were they all gone
Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Titler showing Text Styles
If you see them there and can successfully apply each to the text you have created in the Titler, that will give us information to evaluate the significance of your mention of an empty Styles Folder. If you see the Styles thumbnails, but cannot successfully apply them, then I will work with you on the Titler procedures.
Please let me know if you are OK with the details and what supplemental clarification you need.
    Thank you.

  • Downloading online content (extra titles, menus, etc) to a different computer from where Premiere Elements 13 is installed

Can you download online content (extra titles, menus, etc) to a different computer from where Premiere Elements 13 is installed, and then transfer it to the offline computer where PE13 is installed?
I purchased a new computer and installed Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements 13 while I had the computer connected to the internet.  I no longer have the computer online, so can I download the extra content to a different computer, then transfer it to the offline computer where Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements are installed?
Thank you very much for your time.

    sfultz74
The Content download is only from within the opened project/program (disc menu display - customization area) and requires an Internet connection.
When it comes to Content download, you should be able to transfer the Online Folder (with all its content already downloaded) on computer 1 to a USB Flash Drive and use that USB Flash Drive for the replacement of the existing Online Folder in computer 2. Please see details...
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/05/pe11-no-content-disc-content-downloads.html
This all depends on the content in Online Folder from computer 1 being downloaded from within the program. All the blue bans in the upper right corner of the display thumbnails gone before transferring Online Folder from computer 1 to USB Flash Drive.
Please let me know if you have further questions on the above or need any clarification.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Elements: Ghosted Menus

Evidently I'm an idiot, but I'll prove it for the third time in 20 minutes. I can't seem to see the question that I've posted twice before so bear with me, please. I had to uninstall my Premiere Elements 9 and then reinstall it because all the menus were ghosted. I received no errors on the installation or when I start the application. The menus are still ghosted, however (except help). Any help out there? This was part of a software bundle a few years ago. Happy New Year, by the way.

    Sundogdreams
Thanks for the reply. Sorry for mistargeting your menus...my first thought was disc menus and not workspace menus.
The screenshot you present is normal under the File Menu before a new project or existing project is opened. Nothing happening after selecting
existing project needs to be investigated. What happens if you click on new project? Can you open a new project?
Let us rule in or out the usual factors and fixes
    1. If you are not already, work from the 9.0.1 Update as described in a prior post in your thread.
    2. Deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file or, if necessary, the whole 9.0 folder that the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9.0
and in the 9.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then you delete the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that you can see the whole path cited.
    3. Miscellaneous...determine if problem exists with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled; work with mouse instead of pen and tablet device; be sure to be running the program from a user account with administrative privileges; make sure the latest version of QuickTime is installed on the computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1.
    4. If none of the above resolves any of the issues, then it is time for uninstall, free ccleaner run through, and reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
    5. Last resort measure is to create a new user account with administrative privileges and try to install and run the program from there. But lots of ideas
between 3 and 5, so let us take one step at a time.
We will be watching for your results.

  • Is there a way to avoid the disc menus to make an auto play disc in Premiere elements 11?

    Hi,
I have upgraded from Premiere elements 10 to 11 and found that it is impossible to make a DVD without passing through the - long- procedure of choosing a disc menu.
In PE 10 it could be done but  I haven't found a way to do this in PE 11 . Very often one want to just try a movie before it is finished and quickly burn a HD disc.
Does anybody have a good suggestion?

    Hi again Steve.
I just found the answer on the forum.
    A.T. Romano Oct 17th 2013
The trick is to go to the Edit Menu/Preferences/General
    and
place a check mark next to "Show All Do Not Show Again Messages".
I had eliminated all messages and consequently always got the menu option.
This seems to  a minor bug that should yet be eliminated.
    Thanks for your help .
    Kind regards,
    Rein

  • "No Disk" Error (premiere elements 12)

When making an Auto Movie in pre12, as soon as i click the next button having selected the theme that I want, I get (No disk in drive D:), but if I eject the empty tray and leave it open all works fine.

    Han
    It does not make sense.
The SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 feature is gone in Premiere Elements 12 and has been replaced by Music Scores which is in concept like SmartSound but is not SmartSound.
I think that your happening was by chance.
Recently I had a strange No disc situation. Never had one as long as I have been working with Premiere Elements products 4 to 12 over more than 10 years.
I decided to install CONTENT for Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7 64 bit. After all was done apparently successfully. I started to use the program and went to apply a disc menu. That is when I got hit with the No disc message. I could not get rid of it. The only thing that would allow me to continue in the disc menu location was to insert the Premiere Elements 10 CONTENT disc which seemed unreasonable since all the CONTENT could be seen saved to the computer hard drive where it was supposed to be.
I decided to restart the computer for one reason or another. Immediately after the restart, there was no problem applying the disc menu in Premiere Elements 10. I did not have to work with the Premiere Elements 10 CONTENT disc in the burner tray to get my Premiere Elements 10 disc menus applied.
This one computer before and after this incident had SmartSound programs on it related to many earlier Premiere Elements versions that are on this same computer. So, SmartSound features or files did not appear to be implicated here in this No disc matter.
So I would caution you about a jump to judgment on
but somehow still looking for those smart sound files...
Please consider if there are any alternative explanations for your results.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Elements 8 won't do anything after opening - and after loading contents disk

Similar to an earlier thread, ie: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3058854#3058854 I couldn't get Premiere Elements to work - but this was back in July and I hadn't found the forums at that point, getting baffling lost trying to find anything at all useful on the Adobe website.
Premiere Elements 8 did originally display an error message if you tried to open a project, ie I managed to open an existing project or create a new one, but the program only ever showed a blank screen and no menu options could be selected so these projects were empty. This error message appeared if I tried to open a project I'd just created with premiere elements 8. It didn't even seem to like its own files.
It's a brand new pc, so it's never had any other versions of premiere on it. It came from Dell preloaded with premiere/photoshop elements but only the latter works.
Initially I spent hours trying to get this to work, searching for clues on the Adobe website, but then other pressing things have intervened and I gave up on it until today.
About the last thing I did was to download a trial version and install that and I entered my full version registration number when doing this. Still nada and I gave up.
Well today I had another go. If I opened my empty project from the organiser I got a blank screen, then I tried again from within Premiere. I also tried opening it as a new project giving it the same name as the original. Surprise, surprise, it worked and the monitor and timeline, etc, appeared. However it was temperamental and if I closed the program down I seemed to have to open it a few times in Premiere (not the organiser that never seemed to work) before the workspace appeared.
I should have thought myself lucky and left things like this. When the program started it reminded me that the stuff on the contents disk wasn't loaded. I decided to load it up too but in the process I got an error message. I think it said something about Framework 4 being loaded? by user system and that this needed to be changed. I let it go ahead and do this and left all the contents loading up. Takes a long time doesn't it? Needless to say this isn't the first time I've done this.
Well it was after this that I arrived back at the blank screen, nothing opening up at all just as it was when I started - a little loading project window appears, the blue progress line gets to 100%, but the application screen remains grey and none of the menu options can be selected. I tried loading the 8.01 patch but this made no difference.
Has anyone got any clues on this?
    It's a Dell Studio 15, i5, 4Gb RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate, 400 Gb free space.

There may be some clue in that while I was briefly able to use the application I added a few picture files and put them on the timeline.
Tidying up the pictures on the pc into one folder meant that one of these was no longer where Premiere Elements 8 expected it to be and on one of my trys at getting it to run again (with the same multiple attempts at opening a project as before) it did actually display a dialog asking for the missing file and then wonder of wonders the monitor window, timeline, etc, appeared as before.
This meant that the menus are accessible at present and so I've been able to check the background rendering preference and it is set to off.
Once I close the application down again I'm sure it's going to behave as before, ie blank screen again. True enough just tried this and it's back to blank screen mode. I didn't save the project so the files are still 'missing'.
BTW I've already turned off Autoanalyse in the Organiser.
