Laggy video on Google Chrome, other browsers

I have a MacBook Pro, purchased new direct from Apple in July of 2010.  It's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Lepard, has the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of DDR3 memory.
Over the past few months, video playback on both Google Chrome and Safari (as well as on Firefox although I rarely use that browser) causes the browser to get laggy and the video begins to stutter.  Once that happens the video begins to break up and every time it stutters, cursor movement stops and goes as well.  I mainly use Google Chrome and this is the behavoir I notice when it happens while using Chrome.  It almost always happens when viewing videos on YouTube and generally happens while watching videos on most websites.
I've attempted to turn off the built-in Flash pluggin in Chrome and that didn't work.  I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash but that hasn't seemed to do anything either. I've also freed up disk space but that didn't do anything.  I've also tried clearing the cache while on Chrome and Safari and neither helped with that.  I guess I'm just not sure what the next course of action should be.
If you need additional information from me, please let me know!

  • Embedded youtube videos load on all other browsers but not Firefox

I have embedded youtube videos into a website...
They work on ALL OTHER BROWSERS but not on Mozilla Firefox.
    I have tried:
    1. Clearing cache & cookies and using Safe Mode.
    2. 18 different computers running Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OSX, Linux Ubuntu 12.10 and Fedora 16.
    3. Using old embed code instead of iframe.
    4. Loading HTML5 works but Firefox cannot fullscreen (still under youtube development)
    5. Redoing site from scratch.
Code is as follows, note middle video is old youtube code: http://pastebin.com/T3w09bqW

Good point. When I insert that snippet of code in a new page, it runs for me. (Except that the first one says the frame is too small.) Does this work for you? http://dev.jeffersonscher.com/yt/941211.html

If there is a password field on a web page and you have saved a password then Firefox may try to fill that password and enter the name in the field just above that password field.
    You can look at:
    * Saved Password Editor: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/60265
    *Form History Control: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/12021
You may want to disable saved form fill to prevent Firefox from filling the name.

Question: When you refer to an app here --
''I've been able to recreate this bug every time by opening a stream in one tab, any other page in the other and then starting the app - freeze every time.''
-- is that a completely unrelated application outside of Firefox, or something in another Firefox window or tab?

Flash needs to completely unload from memory (restarting Firefox might help) before this would take effect.

  • I recently installed Java 6 update 33, and adobe flash player 11 plugin, and now can't play any videos from any website in Mozilla, but Google Chrome works.

Cannot play any video from any website in Mozilla after installing Java 6 update 33, and adobe flash player 11 plugin. However, I can play videos from Google Chrome and also from Internet Explorer. For example, when I'm trying to play a you tube video in Mozilla, a black screen comes up with following error message: "An error has occurred. Please try again later."
(This is like the Wizard of Oz -- when the man comes to the little window in the door and says to Dorothy, "Come back tomorrow." )

This may be caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update.

  • Are there any browsers for Mac other than Safari and Google Chrome that are better with adobe flash for my Macbook 2009?

On Safari Adobe Flash freezes at times on popular Flash chatroom I visit and on Google Chrome when I try to type the typing is laggy delayed. Adobe Flash needs to be fixed in Safari and possibly other Browsers, and Google Chromes html5 or whatever flash replacement their browser uses ***** on older hardware.

Go for Safari always, you will have more advantages than any other browser. You can safely install the Adobe Flash pluguin, it will install as pref pane in your System Preferences. From there you can limit its access, block sites for storing info in your mac.
Under the advanced tab of the Flash Player in System Preferences, check “Notify me to install updates”, so you are always up to date (feel free to check out any update directly form the Adobe website to be safe).
Steve does't want to allow Flash for iOS due to security issues (long story). But it's OK for mac, if you keep an eye on it.
Google's Chrome its decent, but you know, it's Google. I will prefer to take the advantage of the Apple's ecosystem, like syncing all Safari content and passwords with iCloud, to keep using it in your iOS devices. You can have an open page in your mac, and go to your iPad and continue with the same page.
Also you can find some useful Safari extensions that will trick the websites to load an HTML5 version of the video instead of flash (like if you were on an iPad).

Doublechecking. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

The iPlayer webpage is all there but the flash video player is black. The OS is MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3.

Also, when the flash video does not show up it displays the error that I do not have the current flash player. The problem is that I do have the current flash player that actually plays flash from another section of the website.
    Forgot to add that earlier.

my iMac os lion 10.7.4 has jerky videos.  I've tried YouTube videos with Safari and Google Chrome and the spinning globe appears and the video stops for a few seconds.  I can't watch the white house weeklky address because it stops and starts every few seconds.  The software is up to date.  Just bought this thing in February 2012.  Can anyone help me?

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine. Might also apply to new machines w/o AppleCare.

  • Google Earth Plugin doesn't work on Firefox. But it works on other browsers such as Google Chrome.

Google Earth plugin always says "There was a problem with the Google Earth Plugin. Please try reloading the page. If that doesn't help, you can re-install the Google Earth Plugin using this link." However, other browsers such as Google Chrome does not display that kind of problem.
    Firefox version: 36.0.04

Contrary to how it may look, this is an issue with the Google Earth Plugin and not with FireFox. This support forum is for questions related to the products listed on the main support page directly only. As such this question is off topic for this forum.
However, I reccomend openening a thread on the Google Earth plugin forum at https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!categories/earth/problems-and-errors
Annecdotally, the plugin works fine for me under Firefox 36.0.04 and does not work for many Chrome users posting to the forum I linked to above.

  • Will not load and function. Does having other browsers installed prohibit Firefox from working? i.e. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Opera?

I downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. It locks up before it can load any Web site. I removed Firefox for similar reasons once before but now trying to reinstall. I have Windows 7 64 bit system with I.E., Google Chrome, and Opera installed. Why does Firefox fail to function?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • Firefox will not allow me to play any videos on youtube or any other websites. If I go on Google Chrome I can watch videos.

  • Videos freeze after 5-7 seconds, no audio at all - Google Chrome

    Win7 x64
    Google Chrome 21.0.1180.60 m
    Flash version 11.3.31.222
My os is 64-bit, but the "what version of flash are you running" window says it's 32-bit. Which strikes me as odd. Anyway,
Problem is basically laid out in the subject. No matter what video I try to play, it freezes after a few seconds. There is no audio whatsoever. I tried the uninstall (using the uninstaller) I found in another Flash forum, but it didn't help. As a matter of fact, running the uninstaller made no difference at all. Videos still played for a few seconds, sans audio, then froze.
Is there a fix for this? It only started happening yesterday.
Update: Also happens in Firefox. IE works fine.

Our Chrome browser not only automatically updates it's version (21.0.1180.60m) without notice , but the Shockwave Flash (11.3.31.222/ 11.3.300.268) plugins too!!!
I had to disable 11.3.31.222 along w. 11.3.300.268 and have 11.2 r202 (11.2.202.235) solely enabled again because this time, i had 'shockwave plugin unresponsive' at some websites that stalled pages, and of 11.3.300.268., 'unresponsive shockwave plugin' refused to play YT.

  • Google Chrome videos: "Couldn't load plug-in", flash not working.

For some reason today I can't play any sort of YouTube videos, and flash player is simply not working anymore. This happen spontaneously, and I am almost certain that I didn't trigger anything that could do something to this degree. I've installed flashplugin from the AUR, did not fix it. Though YouTube and flash is working in Firefox.
I got a notification from Google-chrome that it has been updated but that did not fix this problem.
    Thank you for any responses.

In my case, I have NEVER had Flash working, on any of the browsers I have tried (Firefox 19, Chromium 25, Google Chrome-dev 27, Opera).  It's a fresh installation on a laptop I'm trying to set up for my 7-yr-old (to visit funbrain.com, Nick Jr, Disney Jr, etc).  Unfortunately, all these educational/game sites need Flash player.
It's an old ThinkPad T23 (1G memory), and I've been trying to find *something* that is light enough to run on this system, yet will still run Flash (Ubuntu/Mint ran the sites too slow, and XP won't work with the USB wifi adapter).  Certainly not the best machine for this, but it's what I have that still works.
Of course, you know that I'll get it working and find out the browser/flashplayer performance is just as unusable as it was with Mint...
