LAN being SOB

hey there.
could someone plz help, im having serious problems with my LAN. im trying to use the onboard rj45 LAN but it just wont seem to work. it was plugged into a Scan hub and then into my friends pc. he was using an ethernet card on his nad also windows xp.
he was able to see my pc but not actually access it. me on the other hand, couldnt even see his or my own pc when looking in network places.
i also tried disabling the onboard LAN and using the exact same card as my friend so they would be compatible but again nothing happened.
any info would be great, cheers

Go to the properties of you local area connection and make sure the service "file and print sharing is installed and checked off".
To share- right click the folder you have data in to share and click on "sharing and security". By default, XP turns off remote access. You have to click on the shortcut for network setup from there and follow the wizard.
"DO NOT" share your whole drive. Doing so could open it up to the whole world and if your connected to the internet via broadband, that could be very bad.

  • 2 Intel Gigabit Lan's Detected. Why?

    Hi,
I have an 865PE Neo2-FIS2R motherboard. I'm running Windows XP, 2000, Me, and 98 SE on my computer on 4 partitions. In Windows 98 and Me, Networking redetects the Intel Gigabit Lan. In Device Manager only 1 network adapter shows, but in the network aplet, it shows 2 gigabit lans. Why? It works ok, but I'm not sure what the deal is. Anyone else experienced this, and how did you fix it, if you did?
    Mark

I guess that you must really like "Tinkering" ...Now you have to install a version of Linux, then you can go for the FORUM record for most operating systems on one PC ....As for 2 LANS being recognized, like you said they are not being seen as 2 seperate devices in the Device Manager, then as hard as it is to do ,ignore it ......Sean REILLY875

  • Yosemite can't connect to my NAS & other weirdness

    Hi
I'm running Yosemite 10.10 on an Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro i7 with 8GB of RAM.  The machine is connected to the network via Wi-Fi and my network is managed by a SKY router. All devices are configured to use DHCP to obtain their IP address from the router.
I have two NAS boxes on my network, a Western Digital MyCloud and a Buffalo Linkstation Pro.
Since upgrading to Yosemite I cannot access the Linkstation NAS box.
I can ping it on the network and I can call up the configuration pages in a web browser using the ip address, I can also access it from windows devices.
However if I try to connect to it using my mac it fails every time.
I use Go->Connect to Server then put in the details of the share, I'm prompted for a user name and password as expected but then the process stalls for several minutes before finally failing with the following error message.
'There was a problem connecting to the server "xxxxxxx"
Check the server name or IP address and then try again. If you continue to have problems, contact your system administrator.'
I've tried specifying smb, cifs, and even afp in the connection attempts but they all fail.
The Western Digital NAS works OK although it's a bit slow to make the initial connection.
The other weird thing is that my Macbook keeps changing it's NETBIOS name and I don't know why.  I named the machine ChristophersMBP but it keeps getting numbers appended to the end of it.  It's currently up to ChristophersMBP5.
The whole thing is very frustrating especially as if I boot Windows 7 using bootcamp it attaches to the share without any problems.
And help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like I've found, if not a fix, then at least a work around.
I was searching around the web and found other people having the same problem with their machine name changing.
The fault seemed to be caused by "Wake on LAN" being enabled on the machine.  I checked my machine and, sure enough it was enabled.
Quite why I'd want wake on LAN enabled on a laptop I'm not sure so I had no problem with disabling it.
I disabled wake on LAN, renamed my computer again and rebooted it.
Now I find I can successfully connect to my NAS box!
This is a guess but I wonder if the renaming was causing problems with DNS or reverse DNS lookups?

  • Troubleshooting a new WRV54G

    Friends -
I am a comcast cablemodem subscriber, and recently upgraded some of my hardware, including a new Motorola modem, which (I think) is working fine, and a new Linksys WRV54G Wireless Router, which doesn't seem to be working fine. The Linksys is talking to two wireless laptops and three desktops, all running Windows XP with SP2 and up to date on all security & patches.
The issue I am experiencing is sporadic internet connectivity on two of the three desktops, despite a live connection to the LAN being shown by the OS.
The wireless laptops have no trouble with internet access through the new router, however, two of my three desktops which are connected to the router via standard 10-base-T ethernet cable are having sporadic internet connectivity. The desktop through which the router was installed never has any difficulty with its internet connection. Swapping the 3 cables among the 4 ports on the router doesn't make any difference. All of the default settings were taken with the router's installation (no domain/host indicated), and DHCP for assignment of IP/DNS addresses. Installation was successful.  All three of the desktops show a live connection to the LAN at 100 Mbs, even when the two affected desktops can't access the internet. The phenomenon is the same for Netscape, Mozilla, and IE browsers. The TC/PIP settings on each of the desktops are set for "auto" when obtaining the IP and DNS addresses. Comcast will not provide a static IP address to use for the DNS setting, and says that their policy is to let DHCP assign the addresses.
The cables and ethernet cards in the desktops are all brand new. Hardware drivers are all up to date. If I reinstall the router, all three desktops (temporarily) have a successful internet connection. Don't know if this matters, but the lack of an internet connection phenomenon always seems to happen after one or both of the two affected desktops come out of a hibernation period. When I run ipconfig from the DOS command line for any of the three desktops, no DNS address is indicated, however the IP Address, Default Gateway, and Subnet Mask settings are fine. The IP addresses being assigned by the router to the three desktops are 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, and 192.168.1.102. "Ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew" doesn't help, nor does trying to repair the LAN connection from the network icon of the control panel.   I can't successfully ping to or from the two desktops when the internet connection has dropped off.  Rebooting the computers doesn't help, nor does powering down and powering up the modem and/or the router. I'm about at my wits end with this nonsense.  Can anyone offer any other suggestions short of returning the router for a new one?   I have not run the firmware upgrade - could this help?  Should I try installing the router from one of the other desktops and see what happens? Something else maybe?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Dan

Hi , frankly i suspect the 2 systems since the other PC when connected to the same ports work fine....
well here are a few things you can try on each of the faulty ones...
at the command prompt, run the following command and then restart each PC
a:- "netsh winsock reset catalog"    .....this will reset the TCP/IP stack of the comps..
b:- hit "start">>"run">> services.msc -- look for DHCP client and restart the service on each PC
c:- for the NIC speed to 10Mbps half duplex ....from the control panel got o network connections.....right click on the local area connection and hiot properties....click on "configure" and thenh go to the advanced tab......look for link speed/duplex and change the value to 10Mbps half.
d:- if none of the above options work...try and re-insatll the drivers of your NIC's on each PC .
Let me know if this works for you.

  • How can I set up a data connection to an Oracle DB

    Hi,
I want to set up a data connection to an Oracle DB.
I know the first step is to go to New data connection, then select OLEDB database and then I need to create a connection string. Well from now on I am lost. What are the next steps I need to take? Does anyone has an example

Your iMac with ARD... this is the bona fide, ($300/$500) "Remote Desktop.app" admin install, or do you mean that you have ARD "Remote Management" access enabled or have tried to control Vista with Microsoft's similarly-named "[Remote Desktop Connection|http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/remote-desktop/default.mspx]" app? (Just making sure—it would be a very different conversation otherwise.)
Remote Desktop does lots of fancy stuff, but for the Observe and Control mechanisms it behaves as a plain-jane VNC client. It can connect to any standards-compliant VNC server. You should, for example, be able to run a different VNC client on your Mac and have a similar success/failure experience; perhaps the excelent [Chicken of the VNC|http://sourceforge.net/projects/cotvnc>. If you have the same failures, we'll still help, but ARD is obviously not the culprit. In any case, the usual suspects for windows VNC servers include UltraVNC, realVNC \[paid ver. required for vista\], and TightVNC. They all have caviats, but they're fairly well documented. Vista itself throws VNC under the bus "in favor of security" but again, you'll find lots of users in the same boat; unable to get the VNC server working on the Vista side. Your statement that you "couldn't even see the machines connected to it to get the IP" was bit confusing though, as devices don't need to be running a VNC server to at least show up in a scan (IP printers should appear, for example). Are you sure they're on the same subnet of the same lan/being otherwise scanned for correctly; or if remote, are you sure the remote Vista laptop is directly addressable with NAT from the web?
Let us know. Good luck. Joel

  • Photo browser in Mail not working

In new mail my photo browser will not add photos even though it appears on screen when requested. Some time ago I had to replace my original photo library with a new one and I think this has caused the problem as it used to work fine. I do not know what to do to get it working again and would really appreciate any help to do so. Should I consider re-installing Leopard?

Well, O.K. Hmm, this will amuse you and may amaze you too! The ONLY reason I EVER had for buying a Computer was due to my mind's insatiable boredom created by my job! It's a long story but I LIVED out of my suitcase, in Hotel's/Motel's, a different Town/City every day, 6 days a week! And *I HATED IT!* I was so bored *OUT OF MY MIND*, I became an alcoholic! I didn't just get drunk every night, I STAYED drunk all day long every day! I was so good at being drunk I could FAKE being SOBER! EVERYBODY I talked to was convince that I had a speech impediment. I wanted to quit but the salary for this job was so INSANE I couldn't. The Job: K-Mart Field Auditor. The year: 1979-82! The Computer: A 1980 Tandy/Radio Shack TRS-80!
The amazing part of this story: I STILL have the Computer, it STILL works and I STILL use it! It's the ONLY Computer that I've EVER own that's SO stable it HAS never CRASHED. Unfortunately I STILL have a addiction but isn't alcohol, it's Computers! I'm SO addicted my Boss wants to commit me to a psychiatric hospital but he won't! He can't replace me! I'm the ONLY Certified Windows Professional in this city with more of years experience than all of the other CWP have been alive! I was doing 'Stuff' with my TRS-80 25 years ago that most Computers *CAN'T EVEN* do today but that's another story! Do you know somebody else that STILL uses a 27 Year Old Computer?
If you have more than one email account when you click new mail there is a "From" box right under the address boxes which allows you to click on the account you want to use to send- in my case either @tiscali or @google.
Yup I'm in the Groove now and I'm following you but that ONLY changes the From:, not the E-Mail Account that will Send it! There's a different option to do this that I will explain ...
If I open new mail and click the google address all is well. Not so if I click tiscali.
Yup! It's the 'stuff' that makes you go NUTS when the logic ain't logical! But after doing some research about multiple Mail Accounts I found the logical logic that will help! Hmm, did that make any sense to you? I'm get so confused when I do immutable weird mutating stuff that turns my logical mind into mindless gibberish logic but it makes me happy!
Alternatively it could be that this difference only appeared after I carried out the start up operation you gave me last time. I do not know.
O.K. Me BAD! I told you to do that but I didn't tell you WHY. As you're using your Mac it creates different Caches to cut down on having to re-search the Hard Drive again. This makes 'Stuff' open quicker and when you open 'Stuff', the Mac will ALWAYS look at the caches first before looking at the Hard Drive. If the Mac finds this 'Stuff' in the cache it WILL NOT look for it any further and uses the Cached Information. If you change something on the Hard Drive that the Mac HAS NOT cached, like renaming iPhoto files without using iPhoto, it won't know about it and then weird stuff starts happening. 'Safe Boot' clears the caches and MAKES the Mac re-cache 'Stuff'.
I have tried to attach all sorts of photos to the tiscali new mail and none works - thought maybe there was some kind of size limit perhaps but lots of the older photos are really quite small.
Well, I think I know an answer for this should work! You know: what's good for the goose should be good for geese! O.K. down to business and I took my time to aim this 'Shot'! Hmm, where to start and do I explain this simply?
First open Mail then Preferences and goto the Account window. You know how to setup the Accounts because they work, sort of! At the bottom of the Account Information window, there's an option to use a 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)'. It's a drop down box that will let you change or edit this information. Change this to 'None' and underneath this option is a check box to 'Use only this server'. Un-check it if it's checked. Now you don't have a 'Default Mail Server' and can choose the server to use from a new e-mail. Now while you are still in this window, click the Advance button under the tool bar. At the bottom of this window there's a click box for the option 'Use IDLE command if the server supports it'. Un-check it if it's checked. This option only works with IMAP Servers and not with the POP Servers that you use. O.K. You still with me?
Now click the 'Composing' icon on the tool bar at the top. Then uncheck 'Automatically <Cc or Bcc> myself' if it's checked and you don't use it. IMO:This option SO asinine! But stupid programers do stupid 'Stuff'. Now, the next option to change is 'Send new mail from'. This maybe the 'Pain in your Derrière' that you're having but it should change when you select the 'From:' while creating new e-mail. You probably only have three choices here and I suggest anything BUT the 'Account of the last viewed mailbox'. O.K. Still with me?
Now I KNOW why my this Mail Stuff was a 'Pain in your Derrière'. Did I mention that stupid programers do stupid 'Stuff'. This is a quote I found in Mail's Help! *"To change the server you want to use to send the message, use the server pop-up menu in the New Message window."* Well, O.K. But I was going blind looking for this infamous 'Server Pop-up Menu' in the the 'New Message Window'. Mail's Help said It's there but I don't SEE IT! Plus, I don't believe everything I read or half of the 'Stuff' I see! Swell, Just Swell! I feel like I'm watching PAINT dry! And I'm not in my 'Groove' yet plus I know the answer will 'DAWN ON ME' later while I'm doing other 'Stuff'! So I do, then it does and 'DAWN', my third eye, shows me the way! O.K. Are you still with me or are you busy, laughing at this rambling Weirdo? Can you tell that I read & write like a moron that's a Computer Genius?
Now were was I? O Yea... Open a new e-mail window and look for a square box on the left side of 'FROM:'. See it? Now click on it and a drop box will appear. The infamous 'Server Pop-up Menu' option you want isn't even list here and I kept missing it! I did mention that stupid programers do stupid 'Stuff', didn't I? So click on 'Customize ...' and the ALL the Mail options are now shown with check boxes. Isn't that just dandy? Are you cursing at that stupid programer like a truck driver? I DID! I cursing now! I curse out that stupid programer every time a create a new e-mail! Man O Man! No wonder there's so many names to impugn a Stupid person ... Asinine, Dumb, Dense, Dull, Slow, Obtuse but their just unintelligent. But a person with Stupid Stupidity is TOTALLY Brain Dead! Well, I did it again and went off the subject, carried away with mindless gibberish. O.K. You still with me?
On the right side of the 'FROM:' box is that infamous 'Server Pop-up Menu' option that you want to use. Click the check box next to, on the left so doesn't disappear! Now you can choose whichever E-Mail Server you want to send e-mail from. But before you click the OK button I have a suggestion. Uncheck the 'Cc:' box under 'TO:' then check the 'Bcc:' box. I explain ... The 'Cc:' means Carbon Copy and the e-mail address use here will receive a Copy the the e-mail. But everybody that gets this e-mail WILL know the e-mail address of everybody else that got this e-mail! Does that make any since? Plus Spammers can collect these e-mail address way to easy! It's a long story to explain how quickly this can be done. Now the 'Bcc:' means 'Blind Carbon Copy' and it works just like 'Cc:', but there's ONE very important difference! Everybody that gets this e-mail is BLIND to the e-mail address of everybody else that got this e-mail! Plus Spammers are BLIND about these e-mail address as well, TOTALY impossible to collect! PERIOD! And you probably know this by now, but you can use the the 'Reply-To Address Field' to have replies sent to an email address that is different from the email address you’re using to send the message. One last tip then I've got to go to bed! You can sent email without an email address in the 'TO:' box if you use 'Bcc:' with an email address! But this may not work because some Spammers don't use an email address in the 'TO:' box any more, so several 'E-Mail Servers' will block an email with blank 'TO:'
WOW! Did I get carried away! This post is HUGE!
I hope I covered everything and that Apple let's me post it!
    Later ...

  • LRT as OpenVPN Server only

More VPN problems here lol. I have an LRT224 setup behind my gateway router/firewall to serve as an OpenVPN server only. I have the LRT WAN port connected to a DMZ port on my gateway router. The LRT WAN is assigned 192.168.30.26 by my gateway router. I then have one LAN port on the LRT connected to a LAN port on my gateway router. LRT LAN IP is 192.168.2.26. I have NAT setup on my gateway router to forward traffic with the OpenVPN port to the LRT.
I can successfully connect to the OpenVPN server; at least it shows both on the LRT and on my client. However, I cannot ping anything (OpenVPN server or LAN (.2.0/24)) from the client. When I go to Maintenance>Ping on the LRT, I cannot ping my client.
The LRT OpenVPN server is on 172.0.1.0/24 subnet with the server usually taking 172.0.1.5 and my client getting 172.0.1.6. Split Tunnel is turned on with the security IP address (LAN) being 192.168.2.0/24
The route table on my client looks correct
    (172.0.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.0.1.5 172.0.1.6) and
    (192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 172.0.1.5 172.0.1.6).
I have the LRT in router mode (setup>advanced routing) and I've tried with the firewall on and off.

It doesn't seem right with the LAN to LAN connection between the gateway router and the LRT.
Normally you would have all LAN devices connected to the the LRT LAN exclusively. The LRT would also be the sole DHCP server.
The LRT would only be connected to the gateway router through WAN to DMZ.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • MPGs and JPGs not loading

I downloaded and installed the Trial Version of Premier Elements onto my Intel Core Duo machine with 4gb of ram.
It worked great.  I did a "Get" to import a number of JPG and MPG2 files into the program.  I moved them to the time line, editied them and exported a movie.
I closed and opened Premier Elements several times over several days and continued editing.
SO - I bought the product.  Recieved my serial numbers, entered them into Premier Elements.
And once the serial number was entered, the program could no longer "see" either the JPG or the MPG files?
It says that they are unsupported file types.
So I uninstalled Premier Elements, rebooted, downloaded the "purchased" versions, installed them - entering the serial numbers during install.  rebooted.  Reinstalled the lastest version of Quicktime. rebooted.
Same problem.  The files that the trial version had NO problem working with aren't recognized by the paid for version.
    What's up with that?
Yes, I've read all the reasons NOT to edit with MPG2 files but why did it stop working?  And why the JPG files?
Is there something easy I'm missing or did I just waste my money.

    Budman,
You did a great job of detective work. Guess those years with Peachtree paid off! [Going back decades, we had an accounting system based on the Peachtree modules with an interface written for the studio.]
Thank you for linking that Adobe KB Article. I had never seen it, but it does explain a bunch.
You asked about others using externals. I do this all of the time, but with some exceptions. I have a room full of Maxtor (and some WD) 1.5 - 2 TB FW-800 externals. I use these for two purposes, archiving old Projects & media, and for transferring Projects between my laptop and my workstation. In my case, each external has been assigned a unique * drive letter in the OS of each computer. When I plug in, say Z:\, it is always Z:\ on every machine. Each drive has a label with the contents and the drive letter assignment. Remember, these are set in the OS for each computer. Also, though the drives are mostly the same models, they have unique serial numbers.
Now, my system differs at this point. I only have PrE on the laptop, and use PrPro on both machines. I do not use Organizer in PrE on the laptop, but Adobe Bridge (the big-brother) from PrPro on each. Matter-of-fact, I do not think I have even opened Organizer in PrE, so who knows what might be in there?
I now see why I could not fathom where/how your problem manifested itself, or what might have caused it. Again, great detective work, and I now know a few more questions to ask, should I encounter this problem.
Thanks, and now time to get back to the swamp with Pogo and Albert the Alligator...
    Hunt
    * in my case I have run out of drive letters. My workstation has nine internal HDD's/burners. I had to reuse the letters at the end of the alphabet, so I do have 2x Z:\'s, etc. I cannot plug both in at the same time, but with the labels, this is not an issue, so long as I am careful and read the labels. If I need to access both Z:\ drives, I just plug one into the workstation and the other into the laptop and transfer files over the LAN, being careful to NOT hook into the other Z:\ directly, but do the transfer in a two-step fashion, using shared folders, etc. For most folk, this should never be an issue, until they amass a dozen+ externals and have a bunch of internal drives/burners.

  • 990FXA-GD80 v2.2 - X16 slots only show x8 max

I just got a new PCIe 3.0 x16 Video card.  It's a Sapphire R7 240 w/Boost.  I have it installed in the top slot which is said to be x16 always.  I've also tried the lower x16 slot, still no x16 speeds.  It doesn't appear to be the card itself simply because, when I run diag software, GPUz, CPUz, Sapphire Trixx, SandraSI, and even just the sys info in the AMD Cata panel, they all show the MAX setting on the board is x8.  It may not mean a lot performance wise, but I bought a board with an x16 slot, and I can't get x16 out of it.  Has anyone seen this or have any clue what's going on?
The BIOS is current, 13.5, and all drivers are the current AMD 14.1 for chipset and Card.
I've tried disabling all power management, OC genie on and off, and even not unlocking the CPU cores.
I've also disable ALL other devices just to rule out the lanes being in use, still no change.
Open to suggestions here, thanks in advance...

Is this new build or just the card? Maybe motherboard's BIOS needs upgrading or graphics card's?
As stated above, just a new vid card and BIOS is current on the MoBo, checked for new vid bios too, found nothing new.  Over the past few months I've been replacing and updating parts, Vid was just the latest new item.  I have found that even know Sapphire and all site selling the card say it's PCIe 3.0 x16 capable, I think it's only 3.0 x8, but that should be x16 easy on a 2.0 slot.  However, I'm new to the 3.0 cards, I don't know if it would default to x16 in a 2.0 slot or still run x8 and can't find any hard info beyond that.

    Hi
I looked around and only found some info on using free VNC, but i still can not get the hang of how to set up my laptop with Vista to enable ARD to see it,

Are you sure they're on the same subnet of the same lan/being otherwise scanned for correctly; or if remote, are you sure the remote Vista laptop is directly addressable with NAT from the web?
Let us know. Good luck. Joel

  • Can I use the LAN port of my Airport Express, which is being used to extend my wi-fi network from my Time Capsule?

I have a home wi-fi network based on a Time Capsule (3rd Gen.).  I recently added a new "n" Airport Express to extend my wi-fi coverage to areas of my home where the signal has been weak or non-existant.  The setup went very well (Airport Utility 6 on my MacBook Pro running Mtn. Lion) and was extremely simple and trouble free.  Now I am attempting ot plug an ethernet device (internet bridge reciver from a wirelss weather station) into the LAN port.  The weather station instructions say the device should communicate fine plugged directly into my router (not physically available where the device needs to be) OR plugged into a LAN port of an ethernet hub.  My question is then:  with the Airport Express in wi-fi extend mode, is the LAN port available to cable internet devices into the network?

My question is then:  with the Airport Express in wi-fi extend mode, is the LAN port available to cable internet devices into the network?
Yes, assuming that the setup went correctly.
Test by moving your laptop or other computer close to the AirPort Express. Temporarily, turn off the wireless on the laptop and connect it using a spare Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the Express.
See if you can get an Internet connection. If you can, you know the Express has been configured and is functioning correctly.
Since the Express is in bridge mode when it "extends" both ports become LAN ports, so if you have a second device that needs an Ethernet connection, connect it to the WAN port as it will work as well.

  • My computer cant pickup any LAN or wireless signal after being infected by a virus?

I posted this yesterday and tried almost every anti virus program that I could download off the internet. I'm in Afghanistan, hence no help over here.
My wireless cant pick up the Router nor can it pick up the LAN when I put a cable in. The two computer icons don't even turn bleu, it's just got a red cross throe them.
This happened a few munites after I opened an email, the hole connection just went dead and I can't find any anti virus that'll detect any fault. Can this be a virus? What kind of virus? What can I use to get rid of the virus? If not a virus where and how can I do fault finding. I have VISTA 64-bit, HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop. Thanx

  • One mac being difficult on LAN

Hi, wondering if anyone can help.
we have a small LAN in our office, theres a switch, patch panel and router in the cupboard which connects 3 macs and 2 pcs with a RAID shared drive and a laser printer.
two of the macs are a mac pro and powermac which are ok at the moment, the other is a imac running osx 10.4.11 and for some reason, although it can connect to the internet and the printer etc, it cannot seem to connect to other computers or the shared RAID using the network shortcut or the "go" > "connect to server" method either...
the other macs you simply navigate in the browser to network and all the items show up for you to connect to them.
i have even tried go connect to server and typed the exact ip in but that doesnt seem to find the RAID drive either, im sure i used to be able to do it on that same computer so i dont know why i cant now.
    any ideas?

Hi, are the first 3 IP numbers of the 10.4.11 Mac the same as the first three numbers of the IPs of the others, with only the 4th number different?

  • How do I set up my Airport Extreme to create a LAN without being connected to the internet?

I'm trying to set up a POS(point of sale) for my small restaurant. ADSL internet is not available at the site. I have set up my system(finally)while hooked up to my router at home, however my system will not work when disconnected from my router. How can I configure the Airport to operate my printers without an internet connection?

First off- Thanks for taking the time to answer me.
I have 2 Star Micronic Ethernet connection printers that I hope to operate using a POS software interface called Ambur.
The program is pretty straight forward and while my Airport Extreme was WAN ethernet connected to my D-Link Router, I had the program and printers integrated and operating surprisingly easily.
My issue is that I don't have internet available at the restaurant, so I need to create a network without an internet connection.
I did the hard reset and the rest.
Now I have the same configuration, but not connected through the router, trying to acheive the same result, but its not connecting.
I've tried programming the software with every IP address, including the ones that worked while connected to the other router, to no avail.
