LAN connection requiring reset after hibernation in Vista (T61P)?

Everytime I hibernate my system and move it to a new location (from building to building)... the system cannot get an IP address and complains that it cant reach the DHCP server.  Yet, as soon as I disable and re-enable the LAN nic card it finds an IP address.  this is definately not a DHCP problem.  Does anyone know what settings on this system may be affecting this?
This is my only Vista system, T61P.  I unchecked the IPv6 box to make sure it wasnt getting hung up on that.
Regards,
Xerical

Are you using Access Connections?
If so, do you have automatic location change enabled for those profiles in the global settings?
I use hibernation mode all the time and have never experienced any problems

  • Macbook Pro Retina - doesn't connect to Internet after "hibernation" but works fine after a complete shut down.

This is a new occurence and is not tied to the Maverick update.
When I close the top of my laptop and reopen it (whether 10 minutes or overnight) and click on the Safari icon - I get my Safari opening screen - but each tab says (Fails to connect).    No problem if I shut the machine off and then restart it.   Connects right away.
As this is not tied to any upgrade or addition of any software or change in the router - I suspect I may have inadvertently changed something and I'm at a loss.   Has anyone seen this and figured out what stupid thing I may have done?   I never go into registries or anything like that and I would be uncomfortable doing that - particulary because I have a fix - just shut down the computer completely after each use.
    Thank you in advance....

If it's a network that requires a password, just a hunch, but I'd try this even though it says WPA2 and different symptoms & HW, wish Apple would update that doc, as many other reconnect problems get fixed by it...

Not certain if this has helped anyone past 10.4.10 yet though. A static IP helped some.

  • Msi p4n sli - ethernet LAN connection not recognized after reinstall

So I am reinstalling windows xp home edition after replacing a hard drive with over 1,000 bad sectors... The ethernet LAN worked just fine before reinstalling.  I don't have the original driver cd, so using another computer, i downloaded the latest nforce4 chipset / ethernet / IDE / SATA drivers from the msi downloads site.  Installed them and everything worked fine except that the network connection never showed up.  It is not to be found in the device manager, and I don't see it when I view hidden devices.  The LAN chip is enabled in the BIOS and it tried to netboot the first time i booted with the new hard drive (hadn't put the cd in the drive  ).   When that didn't work, I tried downloading the latest chipset drivers from nvidia's site, and the same thing happened.  No local area connection!
Is there something I'm missing?  is there a utility I should be installing before I install the chipset drivers, etc?
I'm feeling stressed as I need to get this finished and returned to my client today but I've been dealing with this since yesterday to no avail
Any help is appreciated!  thank you!
    Jeff

A little embarrassed that I didn't figure it out earlier, but I tried several things, realized I had turned off the LAN chip in the BIOS and forgot to turn it back on after installing the second time.
once i enabled it, I had to manually pick drivers for the "Other PCI Bridge Device", and then for the the nforce network controller windows found after that.
Lesson learned: stress inhibits cognitive function.

  • Database connection getting reset after application server is idle

    Hi,
I have a centralized database with 7 to 8 tablespaces for different applications, for one of the linux based application i am having the captioned issue. The system works fine but whenever its left idle for more than 45 minutes the following scenario occurs.
    1.     04 Transactions performed all the transactions are parked in the queue of process1.
    2.     Process 1 reads the first transaction and in order to pass it to the next process queue (process2) refers to the database table to check that the process is registered and running and gets its process id to pass the message to its queue. At this level while trying to get the next process details the database call takes somewhere around 15 minutes and return the below error.
DBError::dumpError error code: [3135], error Msg: [ORA-03135: connection lost contact
    ]11/04/24 12:55:45:352 |INFO| DBCommand::ExecuteSP--DR SP [PKGCONFIGURATION.spIsModuleRegistered] Exception [3135] ORA-03135: connection lost contact
    11/04/24 12:55:45:405 |ERR | Registrar::isRegistered mod id [21987475]: registration check failed
the above scenario occurs first time when every process receives any message from other and tries to fetch any details from the database. Once all the process have got these errors and are through with the database the next messages gets entertained in a proper manner.

Not an Oracle issue. Network. Your network connection has been configured to time out after 45 minutes and for a reason.
Do either one of the following things, in order of preference
1 Take the 'application', find a garbage bin, and put it in the garbage bin, where it belongs.
Oracle has Streams available for Queuing applications, and this heavily sounds like a hobby implementation of Streams.
2 Have your network administratror up the timeout to indefinite.
You may want to implement 2) before you implement 1)

  • SW-Enumerated device requires reset after disable / enable

Hi All.  I'm trying to figure out a way to get our our SW-enumerated kmdf driver to not require a reboot upon devcon (device manager) disable/enable.  In the driver's EVT_WDF_DRIVER_UNLOAD DriverUnload()
callback, the PointerCount member of the PDO's OBJECT_HEADER  is 1.  If I stop windbg and look at loaded modules, the driver remains loaded long after the DriverUnload() callback has fired called, making suspect a reference issue.
I've read the articles and have set a ba w4 <pdo_object_hdr> "dd
<pdo_object_hdr> L1;k;g"  breakpoint on the PointerCount member (offset 0) and can see its going up and down as the debugger stops at ObfDereferenceObject(), ObfReferenceObject(), IoQueueWorkItem()
    and IopProcessWorkItem().
Is it likely that this has anything to do with why the driver would require a reboot after a devcon (or device manager) disable / enable cycle?
    Thanks!

this is the reason why the reboot is required. you have a leaked Ob reference somewhere. in your unload routine you should also dump the WDF object tree for your WDFDRIVER and see what remains, perhaps you have leaked an object (and perhaps through a dangling
    Wdf reference call)

  • No Connect to AE After Hibernation Wakeup

I've looked everywere for a solution to this but found nothing. When I close the lid and go into hibernation then open the lid the wireless adapter finds my network but not the Express. I have to click "Repair" on the wireless network menu for the AE to stream music from iTunes to my stereo. I thought I found a solution when I went into "Hardware"/"Properties"/"Advanced" and disabled hibernation for the wireless adapter, but that didn't work. Anyone solve this?

    Solved!
I looked at "Control Panel", "Power Options", and the "Power Schemes" drop down list. The default is "Toshiba Power Saver", so I changed it to "Portable/Laptop" with the wireless adapter power save mode still set to "Off". Closing lid still puts computer into hibernation but when the lid is opened and I click a song in iTunes it comes up immediately without having to click "Repair" on wireless icon. Seems this would be specific to Toshiba

  • No network LAN-connection after iOS 5.1.1update

Today i tried to solve a big issue after updating my AppleTV's to 5.1.1 (actual version: AppleTV3,1_5.1_10A406e_Restore.ipsw). After updating my Apple TV´s, they could not connect to  the Apple activation server. No Home Sharing was adjustable and also logging in iTunesStore was not possible. The update I have done via LAN cable, and I changed  nothing in my network configuration. The network (networkadress via DHCP) is indeed set up by default in the AppleTV automatically. Nevertheless, nothing went. Then I removed the network cable and made a reset of the AppleTV and tried to connect via Wi-Fi. With Wi-Fi, he finds the activation server and everything works as it should. Home Sharing, iTunes, streaming. However, once the network cable is plugged in and the Apple TV is restarted, it is again not possible to get access the iTunesStore. Home Sharing is not possible. The networkcable are fine. Both MacBook, as well as my TVs have internet connection over the same network cable. If I unplug the network cable from the AppleTV again, anything goes. Only via WLAN, but it's just too slow to stream data from my Mac. I have this "strange behavior" on 3 AppleTV 3.Gen., which are in the apartment. The previous iOS-Version on the same network cables, worked great. Can anyone reproduce the problem? Or have I now 3 bricked devices? I tried to downgrade over itunes. But this is not possible anymore. I installed 3 times the update. But nothing goes. Please can anybody help me.

I found another link titled "Apple TV Death after update"  and found several links that have proven to work to restore to the previous version.  Here is my post:
"I had originally replied to a post titled "No network LAN-connection after iOS 5.1.1 update". That has been my issue after updating to 5.1. Wirless worked for me but iTunes match and Podcasts were slow to respond. I finally downgraded to the previous version (5.0.2). So far, my ATV3 has been operating exactly as it did out of the box. No more activation failed message, and all components of ATV are functioning flawlessly on my whole home LAN network.
I also wonder what Apple was thinking for releasing this update without adaquate testing. I can forgive them for Maps, but not this. ATV has been around long enough for all of the kinks to be worked out and any updates to just plain work. I did like the new menu displays in apps and how you could rearrange the program icons on the home screen.
Perhaps they will get it right. Some day. But until they show proof that any future updates are correct and provide detailed instructions on how to revert back to a previous version, I will be very leary of updating. Spending a week reading message boards on how to do a simple resotre is not my idea of how to spend my weekends.
As a side note, I am a PC, so to restore from an .ispw file located on your system, you must press the Alt & Shift keys togather, then click the Restore button, and a window will pop-up so you can select the location for the restore file."
    Directions to restore:
"Yes you can. I am a PC. Download the .ipsw file and save to your desktop. Unplug the LAN, HDMI and power cable. Connect the usb cable from your laptop to the ATV. If iTunes does not automatically launch, start it. After iTunes is running, plug in the power cable to the ATV. iTunes will recognize the ATV and will open the restore window in iTunes.
Press the Alt and Shift keys togather, then click on the Restore button. A file window will open so you can navigate to the desktop (or where ever you saved the file). Select the AppleTV3,1_5.-.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw file. iTunes will start the restore process.
When you see the message that it has completed the restore, unplug the usb cable and power cable. Reconnect the LAN and HDMI cable then plug in the Power cable in that sequence.
Follow the setup procedure again and all should be as it was before."

  • Gargoyle https router logon not working after version 27, when I try and logon it just says the connection was reset. works fine with 27.0.1 must be a bug

I use a Gargoyle quota management router which has web access through https. It works fine with Firefox version 27.0.1 , and has worked for years with no problems. Somewhere after version 27.0.1 a bug was introduced which prooduces the error message "Problem loading page, The connection was reset, The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" each time I go to the routers address. Reverting to 27.0.1 fixes the problem and it also works fine with Interney Explorer so it is not a firewall problem.

    HI techman88,
Thank you for your question. I understand that the password for your router is no longer working in Firefox 27. Please download the new version of Firefox from your working browser and reset the profile.
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox|here]].
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
To reset Firefox go to about:support and and click Reset Firefox. However if there is a saved password in this profile you can manage the passwords under Options > Security> Passwords. Please check this out as well.

  • Cannot re-boot after enabling K8T Neo LAN Connection

I've tried to enable the K8T Neo LAN controller in BIOS so that I can connect a Wireless Router to my PC. However, when I do this, the PC will not boot and I have to disable the LAN controller.
On booting-up the BIOS seems to be looking for an ethernet controller and a message states that either the device is not plugged in or the cable is faulty ! Why should enabling the onboard LAN controller affect the device the BIOS boots from ?
Can I plug a Wireless Router directly into the RJ45 LAN connection on the K8T Neo and if so, how ?
    Thankyou for any helpful advice

Check to make sure you are not set to boot from network. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact name or where it is located, but it may help.

as you say: a WIRELESS router is WIRELESS, how could you plugin a cable from a wireles router. or does it also have rj45 conectors?
if you want to use the wirreles function, you will need to buy a wirrles lan adapter (usb) for your pc
I have never seen a wireless router without rj45 connectors. (WAP yes, router no).

  • After Flash 11 install: Adobe Connect requires Flash Player 10.1 or above.

Adobe Connect will not run on my XP Pro workstation. Flash (11.1.102.63) has been installed several times, with and without AVG. We get the Flash Successful Installation Screen, try to launch Connect again, and always bounce right into the same message:
Adobe Connect requires Flash Player 10.1 or above.
Its like the system is not recognizing the Flash install. How do we get beyond this? Thanks for your help!

    John
I have tried to invite my sister-in-law to join me in a Connect Now meeting.  Every time she tries to respond to the dialogue box that comes up when she clicks on the hyperlink I send her, she gets a message saying that she has to install Flash Player.  We have tried doing this on a number of occasions, but always end up with the same response.
I've noted from your advice above that Internet Explorer and Google Chrome require different versions of Flash Player.  She tells me she has both browsers on her machine.  From the description she has given me, she appears to have downloaded both versions of Flash Player.
Despite the fact that it appears she has now install both versions of Flash Player, however, she is still getting the same request to install Flash Player when she responds to my hyperlink request.
    Please help.
As my sister-in-law is not technically minded, a simplified set of instructions would be appreciated.
With my thanks and kind regards,
    Nicholas.
