LAN Setup - File path for WritExtFile function

Hello:
I am currently using the WriteExtFile function and am
wondering if I need to access a file located on another computer am
I able to use this function. e.g. is there a proper file path that
I can enter into the first parameter of the WriteExtFile to
recogonize a data file located another a networked computer? The
computer will be using windows XP. Any help would be
appreciated.

Yes, you should be able to use WriteExtFile to a networked
location. The
way I've done it in the past is to share a folder on the
other computer on
the network, then map that shared folder as a drive on the
first machine.
Then the path is that drivename^":\\"^RestOfPath...however
you want to set
it up.
There is some admin that has to take place on the networked
machines - to
wit: sharing the write location and mapping the shared
folder. You have to
be careful about permissions and accounts when using XP,
also. Be sure that
the admin that sets up the share leaves it open to all the
potential
machines and user accounts that are likely to want to write
to the shared
location.
Let me know if I can provide more details. Also check the
search criterion
'LAN' or something similar on the AWARE list archines.

  • Changing File path for different TIFF files in a For loop

    Hi dear users:
I am using "IMAQ write TIFF File.vi" that basically writes a TIFF file to a specified file path. However, I would like to CHANGE the file path for each TIFF file i save in a for loop. The reason for this is that the File path has to include the file name and I do not want to write over the same file name all the time in a for loop. What I would like to have are sequential TIFF images. So if the file name would be "Image", I would like the result to be Image0, Image1, Image2 and so forth when I run my For loop. Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks

  • Can you specify a new file path for album artwork in iTunes?

I want to store my music and the iTunes program on a drive other than my C Drive. I moved Windows' "My Music" folder from the "My Documents" along with the iTunes program and all my music to the new drive. I've changed the file path for the iTunes music folder location, but when I update my library iTunes creates the "My Music" folder in "My Documents" and downloads the album artwork there. How can I change this so iTunes will save the album artwork in the same place it saves the music? Is this possible?

    Hi,
The column's style classes will be added on the <td> elements, not the header sadly. So for your use case you'll have to place the class on the table itself then use the selector
af|table.MyStyleClass af|column.formHeader::header-text{}Sadly this will affect all columns, not just one so I don't know if it's going to fir your need.

  • :-)  How can we change the default file path for Bank file ( dmee ) ?

    Hi All,
    We encounter a problem.
Electronic bank file ( created after a F110 run ) are created, in an automatic way to the DIR_TEMP directory. ( On the SAP server )
How can we change the default file path for Bank files ( dmee ) ?
We'd like to specify another path.
    Thx for your help.
    Erwan

    Hello,
Make sure that you have created the directory in transaction code AL11 with the help of basis consultants.
You can link your PC directory to the application server.
You can maintain the path whether your file needs to get saved in OBPM4 against your DMEE structure example GB_BACS etc.
If you do not maintain any path in OBPM4, then the file gets saved to temporary directory. If you give the directory path name in OBPM4, then the file gets saved to that directory with numbers 0001, 0002, 0003 etc till it reaches 9999 and reset from the beginning.
If you give the path as well as file name as ABCD, then the file gets generated to that directory folder with ABCD0001, ABCD0002, ABCD0003 etc. till it reaches ABCD9999 and reset from the beginning.
    Hope this solves your problem.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • How to get a list of file paths for all files used in a project

I have a project in Premiere Pro CC which has a large number of bins.  A sequence in one of these bins uses files from other bins.  I am trying to find the locations of all each of the files used  in the project.
    1)  Obviously I can select each clip in the timeline and show in finder, but there a lot of clips
    2) The video usage associated with each file in the project would help.  However
               1.  I haven't found a way to display only clips that have video useage if all of the bins have not been expanded.
              2.  Video usage  shows usage for all sequences, so one would have to manually check the pull down for each file to see if it is used in the sequence in question.
    3) I tried exporting the project to final cut pro xml.  The path url gives me the information that I need.  For some reason, however, when I do the export only one clip's information is there, not the information for all of the other clips in the project.
    4) I tired an export for speedgrade and all of the file names are there.  However the paths are not.
Basically I want to find all of the files in the project and relocate them to a specific folder for that project.  There's got to be a way to do this but I'm not seeing it ....

Thanks for the suggestion concerning the file path.  And certainly it would have been nice to have done this before beginning.  However this is a project that has been around for quite a while, and the files have been moved into different bins.  And now the project sequence is being revised.
So the problem is, worded slightly differently, how can I search all of the bins for the files that are used just by this sequence, ignoring the files which are used by other sequences?  Or, how can I get a list of the file paths of the files that are used in the sequence?

  • How to set default file path for save

    Hello all,
I'm currently blocked on the below issue and is hoping to gain your help and insights.
We have recently upgraded to InDesign CS6. Now when an INDD file created in an older version of INDD is opened in CS6, all the save dialogs would not default to the location of the original INDD file. Though if the same file is opened in the version of InDesign that created it, the save dialog goes to the proper location by default.
Debugged using our custom plugin as a gate way, and found out that after InDesign CS6 performed the document upgrade/convert, the database for the converted document loses file information. i.e.  IDataBase::GetSysFile() returns nil. I think we can figure out some way to get the original file path. For example, we can intercept "kAfterOpenDocSignalResponderService", and get the original file path of the opened file from IDocumentSignalData. Though I haven't yet able to figure out a safe way to set this file path to the document, so that the save dialogs would by default point at this path.
Utils<Facade::IWorkgroupFacade>()->InitDocumentAssetManagement(docRef, filePath) seems to do the right thing, but it seems to be quite intruding, and I'm afraid that it is overkilling and will cause bad side effect for the use case I'm looking for.
So I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions to achieve this without implementing/overriding the file save dialog.
    Thanks.
    -Jeff

You should be able to avoid writing your own open-doc trap by using kDocBoss's IOpenedFileInfo to obtain the original file's path. It seems fairly reliable; the only time I've seen it come up empty is for an opened QuarkXPress document.
I'm afraid I don't know of a sanctioned way to change IDataBase::GetSysFile() without going through the database's SaveAs machinery. Overriding this behavior might only be possible by replacing the regular Save dialog with your own.
But if InitDocumentAssetManagement() is helping, maybe the workgroup/asset management approach is worth pursuing. Have you tried spying on that call in the debug app? You might be able to isolate and use one of the commands that it's invoking (IAMSPManager::BindAsset() / kSetAssetAttributesCmdBoss?) without all of the side-effects of the higher-level call.

  • How do I set the default file path for the Place command?

I keep my graphics files for each document in a particular folder. Every time I open an existing InDesign document and place a new image I have to browse back to that location - even though all of the previous images in that document came from the same folder. InDesign does not remember the file path that was used previously in the document. This is very annoying.
IS THERE A WAY TO SET THE DEFAULT FILE PATH, OR LOCATION, FOR IMAGE FILES?
I have looked through the preferences, searched the forums and internet, but I have not found any reference to setting default paths. Is there a setting like the one in MS Word called "File Locations" on the Options toolbox?
    Thank you.

Since you're working in ID on Windows, you can take advantage of a neat trick in Windows. Copy the file path out of the File Explorer address bar and paste it directly into the Place filename field. That will jump you directly to the desired volume. For example, let's say I want to place a graphic located at X:\PS Jobs\May PS\709672bp\Working Source Files\Links. I copy that entire path from the File Explorer address bar, go to InDesign, select File|Place, and press Control + V to paste that path into the filename field. I press the Open button and Shazam! I'm there instantly, without a bunch of navigation.
You can do the same thing in the File|Save As and File|Export fields. Let's say you want export a PDF file from InDesign to the volume X:\PS Jobs\May PS\709672bp\Working PDF Files. First copy the desired file path from the File Explorer window. In InDesign, select File|Export, click anywhere in the filename field, and press the Home key to move the insertion point to the front of the filename. Press Control + V to paste that path in front of the filename, then add the backslash character (\). The filename will now look like this: X:\PS Jobs\May PS\709672bp\Working PDF Files\Filename.pdf. Press the Save button to bring up the Export Adobe PDF window. Select your desired PDF preset, press the Export button, and the PDF file will magically appear in the desired volume.
This sounds really complicated, but it's not. In practice, it only takes a few seconds. I probably save an hour's worth of needless navigation every day with this technique.

  • File Path for Saved Mac Mail

What is the file path in OS X Yosemite to locate my saved "On My Mac" emails from the Mac Mail Application?  I am trying to recover them from Time Machine as I had to reinstall Yosemite due to a software issue.  I tried using the search bar with no luck.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

You do not say if you have just media on the external or if it is the whole library.  Wireless drives can be a problem.  If they go to sleep or for some reason are not up and fully awake/mounted when you start iTunes, iTunes will revert back to its default library location on the internal drive.  Switching on the drive after starting iTunes won't get iTunes to have another look for hte drive -- you have to restart iTunes.
I hope you are not storing your media on the same drive you use for backup.  What will you do when one day the airport drive unexpectedly fails?

  • What is the correct file path for "library?"(what precedes it?)

My MBP crashed, and I had to restore by dragging and dropping from an external hard drive.  I fear I may have put the "library" for my user account in the incorrect place.  I am trying to create and modify MS Excel Templates and am learning to do so watching Lynda.com videos and the file path they illustrate has the library listed after selecting a user...on my MBP I have library and users in the same category so when I go to my "user name" there is no library in the next category.  I hypothesize that is why Excel is not automatically creating a "my templates" file for the custom templates I am creating.
Also, if I am correct, how do I fix this problem?
    Many thanks in advance!

That's normal on Lion and newer. Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide ~/Library/ as the path, and drag items from the corresponding folder on the external drive to it. Don't drag anything from the Library folder at the top level of the drive to the one in your home folder.

    Hi there,
I have a Nokia 5200, but don't have the PC Suite installed as I have an adaptor to plug the Micro SD straight into the PC, so I don't have all the folders set up on my memory card.
Could somebody please tell me the file path I need to copy MP3s into to listen to them on the Music Library?

Can anyone help on this - I just need to know what folder MP3s are stored in on the SD card - is it 'Music', 'MP3'? And is it in any other folders? Would be v. grateful for a response.

  • Mozilla takes out path of file - Problem! - need full file path for Upload

There are pages on my site that process the uploading and storing of files (images) from the client's computer, and while IE leaves the full path of the file (like C:\myphotos\jpeg\example.jpg), Mozilla only passes the name of the file (like example.jpg), which is no good! I need to have the full path of the image file in order for it to work.
How do I fix this issue?
Here is a snippet of my servlet code, within the code I commented where the problem occurs...halting my servlet from continuing to process...but only in Mozilla.

According to your post history you've done webapps for more than 2 years. More than enough time to understand how HTTP works and so on. You even had ever posted a topic related to uploading files. Seriously, I am highly surprised.I am a self taught programmer, and yes, I have been learning code, working on my project, for quite some time, but I am not an 'expert' in ALL areas of development/programming, so excuse me if I 'lack' certain knowledge in certain areas. I'm also running/testing on a local machine, obviously, so, like I said in my last post, I didn't realize that that was the ONLY reason IE worked with my code for uploading.
Now getting back to the topic of my post, if we could....I just want to get this problem I'm having fixed asap, so I can continue working on my project. If you will kindly continue to help me, I naturally would appreciate it.

  • UCCX 8 file paths for using java methods

    UCCX 8.0.2SU4
I am trying to use java methods to read an xml file out of the Document repository.  I was able to do this in UCCX 7 and prior, but in 8 it seems i need a different file path syntax for the 'java.io.file' variable.
    Example:
I would like to do the following:
    javaDoc =  new java.io.File(/opt/cisco/uccx/Documents/User/default/mydoc.xml)
    doesFileExist = javaDoc.exists()
I am not having success with these steps, as the result is always false, even though the file does exist.
    any help is appreciated.
    thanks,
    Mike

Your access to the file system is severly restricted. There are security measures in place that only allow you access to the "customer directory". You'll want to use a Create XML Document step to retrieve a file from the document repository using the DOC[/folder/file.xml] syntax. Note the root (i.e. the first forward slash) is the root of the document repository as seen in the /appadmin UI.
