Landmarks and OviMaps

Hi there.
I want to know how I can create a category on landmarks and in the OviMaps see ONLY the landmarks in that category.
It is possible?
My phone is Nokia E72.
Thanks

We can't categorise landmarks in maps but there is sn old app that does just that, google LM Manager for S60

  • NOKIA SUITE AND OVIMAPS UPDATES

    Hi,
I just want to know if NOKIA Will still update Nokia Suite and Ovimaps for Symbian(I use Nokia c5 03)
I thank you a lottttt      Luckybambou

As your C5-03 can run Nokia Maps v3.06 and uses same map data currently 00.02.49.104 as the last Symbian 808PV device made, hopefully further updates maybe forthcoming.  There have to be doubts however over any further development of Nokia Suite as no Asha devices released in 2013 have PC connectivity.

  • No integration between maps and landmarks

I cannot access maps from landmarks and vice versa:
    * In landmarks, the menu point "Show on map" is missing.
    * In maps, the list of landmarks is empty.
What's the deal? I am using an E51 with the stock maps and landmarks software. I did *not* update to maps 2.

Seems like the problem only occurs with landmarks that were added directly in the landmarks tool (using an address). When I browse a location in maps and save it as a landmark, everything seems to work fine.

  • Compass app with "distance to Landmark" function f...

Hi. Well the subject pretty much says it all. I've seen other threads on here (e.g. /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/GPS-data/td-p/782416 ) but nothing recent - and I've done plenty of searches for 3rd party applications. I find lots of pretty compasses, but none which let me choose a Favourite(Landmark) from Nokia Maps, and then show me a compass with the direction to the landmark and its distance.
This of course was available in phones like the N95 and 5800 - but not the N8 (and presumably others).
    Can anyone help?? Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you have Nokia Maps 3.09 . You can choose on walk navigation settings between direct line or street navigation.
If you choose direct line, long press the destination point on the map application and select walk here it shows you distance and direction.

  • Saving location?

    I'm using Maps 3.01.
How do I save a location, either on line or off-line?
It seems I have to open Landmarks and then open another interation of Maps in order to do something as simple as saving my current location (when online) or finding a location offline and then trying to save it.

Ok, found it: On the 6710, I have to press the central cursor key.
Stupid me, I was looking under Options (once the zooming in and out had stopped)!

  • Route not found on nokia maps

    Hi can anybody help.
I updated my firmware on my N95 recently and now when I try to plan a route a keep getting 'route not found' message.
I can see the local area map when I get a gps connection but if I type in an address , which is not in surrounding area I get the message above. If I move the map pointer in maps around I can move to an area where roads etc disappear.
For example I have my home address in landmarks and my work (approx 10 miles apart) and even though I'm able to see surrounding maps when I'm at either place it will not calculate a route from one to the other.
    Help

We found that the N95 needed to be "on line" before it would calcualte a route.

  • Loading POI's onto N95

Is it possible to put POI's onto the N95 for use with the GPS and Maps apps.
In particular is it possible to download speed camera sights and set a warning. If so, what is the best place to get these?

I haven't really had a chance to dig into this as much as I would like, but so far I've worked out the following. POIs don't seem to be supported, but there is the landmarks facility. Ideal would be to have some 3rd party program that uploaded POI data into the landmarks database, but without that then the only solution is direct into Landmarks using XML. The input supports multiple landmarks in a file, but I don't know if there is an upper limit. You would also need to write some code or macro to generate a suitable XML from one of the available POI files available.
OK, I was going to post the XML, but cannot because it throws a spanner in the forum, but you can find out how to do it just by creating a landmark and then sending it from your phone to your computer (eg MMS email), then just make multiple copies of the lm: landmark sections. You can delete the address section as that is not needed.

  • IBook will no turn on

I have not used my iBook over the whole Xmas and New Year period (16 days now) and now I have gone back to use it, it will not turn on, despite the battery being at full charge.
I have tried all the suggested options in my handbook and on the troubleshooting for portable appliances page with no luck.
I had noticed that since I updated my Mac OS from 10.2 to 10.2.8 that it has taken longer and longer for the iBook to start up and that the clock was always resetting itself. Now the iBook won't even turn on.
Can anyone help me, many thanks.

    Hi there,
I took my iBook back to my retailer the day after I last posted a message and what follows is a long and complicated story.
The date I took the computer in was 12 January this year. The store is Comet Electrical here in the UK. Their "computer expert" looked at it and agreed with your logic board failure theory and assured me it would be a straightforward repait. Their policy is to send the item away and contact the owner within 14 days.
A month later and I had heard nothing so I rang their National number and they said they had no update of it but would put me through to my local store. My local store's repairs engineer told me that Comet's PC Repair Centre was looking at the product and had emailed Apple for some spare parts and were merely waiting for them.
Two weeks later (27 February) I got a phone call from Comet's Warranty office and they told me that they could nott fix my iBook but I would be receiving a letter and that I could take it into my local store for a replacement.
The letter arrived the next day stating that the computer was "uneconomical" to repair and that I could indeed have a replacement, although ominously, if no replacement was available then they would offer me vouchers.
I took the letter to the store the following day (1 March) and spoke to their Computer Salesperson who informed me they had stopped stocking Apples and that I could have a top range PC in its place. As a Mac loyalist for 15+ years now, and the fact that I need a Mac for my work and all the software I've got then this was never going to be satisfactory. The salesperson went through all the possible avenues to finding an Apple but to no avail. The store's manager then confirmed that the only other option was vouchers and all I could do was ring their Insurance company.
I took the latter route and last Thursday (2 March) I rang their Insurance company (Landmark) and pleaded my case only to be told that is why you get given vouchers for. I then contacted an Insurance bureau to complain but they informed me that Landmark were totally within their rights.
Then it was a phone call to Comet's Warranty Office where again the voucher offer was thrown in my face. I simply could not get through to these people that a PC was not an adequate replacement for my Mac and that this wasn't your usual electrical malfunction (it's not like I'm replacing a TV or DVD Player for example, the make or model barely matters in those cases)
From there the story took a twist as I got put through directly to Comet's PC Repair Centre and was told that the computer had arrived and the engineer had emailed Comet's Head Office. One of the top men at Comet replied and said to email Apple for spare parts which they did. The spare parts did not arrive within 28 days so they decided to scrap fixing my iBook. I asked if I could have it back and get it fixed myself then (believing I could do this then hold Comet responsible through the warranty). The man from the PC Repair Centre said he would put a note on my account that I want the whole system back.
The following day I received a phone call from the PC Repair Centre and was told my Hard Drive was on its way back but I stressed I wanted the whole system back. I was told this would be fine but an hour later another reply came saying that the system was now the sole property of Comet and I could only have the Hard Drive back (this telephonist was also under the impression that I was getting an Apple iBook back anyway). The iBook had been "written off", although I argued that "uneconomical" and "write off" are not the same thing.
I decided to give my local store another try but wa told that the actual letter I got back confirms that the computer has been written off, despite my protests. I then went through all of the above at which point the staff agreed that I had indeed been "messed about". They said the best they could do was to get their repair engineer to contact the PC Repair Centre and Warranty Office to tell them that I didn't mind waiting for the computer to be fixed as long as it got there in the end.
My local store's Engineer rang back on Saturday (3 March) to say that they were shut but he would indeed stress that I didn't mind the compute taking a long time to be fixed. Alas the Hard Drive arrived at my house this afternoon, on its own.
I am now stuck with a Hard Drive I can do nothing with and a letter telling me I've got Comet Vouchers that I can do nothing with. The only response I get off Comet is that I'm not out of pocket. In the contrary I believe I am - after I have spent the vouchers on various products then I have still to pay out for a new iBook!
Sorry for the long reply, I just felt that people should know the difficulties I have been having with an Apple Laptop off a Third Party retailer (unfortunately, at the time of my purchase the nearest Apple Store to me was 250 miles +).
In closing I would like to add that Comet surely had three other options:
    1) Why can't head office purchase an iBook direct from Apple instead of giving me vouchers - which ever way they play it they are still forking out.
    2) Why didn't Comet's Warranty office write to infomr that their company had stopped selling Apple computers? That way, even though the iBook is under warranty until Dec 2007 I would have taken it to an independent computer repair shop and got it done myself thus saving all the hassle.
    3) Why has the engineer decided that my computer is "uneconomical" to be fixed. What is this laptop euthanasia???!!!
Again, apologies for the long winded reply but I appreciate anybody's feedback on this matter.
    Thanks.

  • Siri doesnt recognise my home address

Today I tried asking Siri what the weather was like at home, she turned about and said sorry I dont know the weather at South Burnett. The South Burnett is a fairly large area where I live but it should have given up the name of my home town at the very least.
I have Siri recognising me under My info. I have my address in my contacts as my full residential address as in number, street, suburb, postcode etc but still she wont come to the party. If it also helps I am in Australia, so I understand there will be issues, but I have no clue where she is pulling South Burnett from as I do not have it entered anywhere in my phone.
    Advice thanks?

I did as you suggested but when I dropped the pin it automatically assigns the address with the incorrect one, as in my street, South Burnett etc etc. I even dropped a pin dead centre of town, over the top of the local cop shop and a few other landmarks and each time it returned the incorrect location. So it may even be a map issue
    Thanks anyhow

  • Nokia Maps - suggestions for improvement

Been using Nokia Maps Navigationon my E61i for a month now, previously I used Telenav on my E62.
The interface on Telenav is more intuitive / user friendly, Nokia Maps is confusing. I am getting used to it, but still.
Trip duration (lower right corner), at least that is what I assume it to be. It is off completely the entire trip. We use a TomTom Go910 for the family and it is off on its initial estimate but then it adjusts as you drive along. On a trip from Oklahoma City to Wichita Falls it estimated the trip to be 3.5 hours. Actual distance was only 165 miles, so a little bit over 2 hours. It its current design this feature is worthless. By the way Telenav has this figured out.
    Airport Codes:
Driving back to OKC, I realize that a keyword search on OKC (the official airport code for Oklahoma City) only results in tens of matches of businesses with OKC in the name. But no air port. If you want to be serious about business travel this needs to work. Same for car rental return locations at the airport.
After a few hours of use the E61i crashes and restarts itself.

The indicator at the bottom right of my Nokia Maps screen shows the remaining estimated journey time. This seems to me to be one of the most useful features. The only refinement I'd like to see is an option to toggle between this and an estimated arrival time.
With regard to search, there is a lot of scope for improvement here, given that this is the search that the software defaults to when you enter text directly without selecting an option. This should allow any kind of searching - i.e. post or zip code, place name etc. In the UK, the post code is the most useful type of search, but is not enabled via this inout - you have to go to address search to input a postcode. The app should have the intelligence to recognise the type of input and act accordingly.
Another much-needed improvement would be to improve the access to searching for the address from contacts - as this is a pretty obvious way for people using a smartphone to ssearch it should be there among the first level opetion - not buried as an option under address search.
Also, the options should be arranged with more consistent thought as to which will be most used, for example, under the "Landmarks" menu, Route From, Route To, and Navigate To, are in the midlle - requirig more keypresses than Delete Landmark, Edit Landmark, Show Details or Serach Nearby! Seems like a lapse in the quality control there doesn't there?
A great, and easy improvement (because the code is already there) would be to use the Voice-Independent name recognition capability of recent phones to select stored Landmarks and recent destinations - I'm surprised this feature isn't there already.

  • Ovimap and check in into facebook

    Hi,
I can send my location into my facebook account, but the delivered map link does not work. The link is opened, but no map.
If I take the map link as copy/paste in properties I can open the link.
Same thing happens, if I send a point from ovimap in suite.
Example.Link from my facebook account  http://bit.ly/sc6b24
Link from properties of the site above  http://62.61.69.224/facebook/desktop.html?lat=60.208446&lon=25.13388299999997&title&message=+&zoom=4...
    This works as it should?

Delete all the saved WiFi points and keep all the other acess points in "Internet"
Delete the account from phone and restart and log on and try again. Hope it works..
Or els you have to unsubscribe from Facebook check in page and subscribe it again and try
    regards

Greetings from the Whirlpool forum (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au). Contrary to the advice provided here, one of our members has come up with a method for importing a large number of personal landmarks into the Nokia 6110 Navigator; in this case, for the purpose of importing Speed Camera locations into the Nokia 6110 Navigator.
The solution, and method for replicating this for any given set of Landmarks, may be found here: http://danielkwood.googlepages.com/lmxcameralocations

  • My first Mac and so far I love it!

I just bought a MacBook with OS 10.4.8, and so far I am absolutely besotted with it...I mean, as much as you can love something that's an inanimate object. I have had PCs since I got my very first computer when I started grad school, and I was generally satisfied with them...but when I recently had to call my PC manufacturer to come and install a new motherboard on a less-than-six month old computer...THEN wasted another four hours after that fighting with the antivirus people trying to get that issue resolved...WELL, enough was enough, and off to the Apple store I went.
I'm still on a learning curve for OS as compared to Windows but I've been using Windows for so long I'm giving myself time to adjust. I'm also still working on getting my @X&*( wireless router to work...but that was a problem before I ever got the Mac.
I love the size of my MacBook (so small! so light!) and have been busily downloading music, etc., for an upcoming flight to Seattle. It runs as fast as my desktop (without the pesky bootup problems and never ending battle with the security), I've had no problems with the sound, I bought the Microsoft OfficeMac (so there are some familiar landmarks). I tend to run a lot of applications at the same time when I'm on my computer, and so far I have had very few problems with stalling or freezing.
So...PC to Mac converts, are there any "wish I'd known that with my first Mac" tips you can pass along?
    Thank you!

  • Adding Chapters and Menus to  VTS Folder?

    Hello
I have a DVD that was copied from a VHS tape.
Its a concert video without menus or chapter breaks.
I want to have each song be a chapter so how do I break it
up? I don't even know what software to use...I have DVD Studio Pro 3 and Final Cut Pro.
    Thanks for reading

The content on the VHS tape was recorded from the broadcast of a concert that originally aired on MTV way back in 1983..It may very well have been copyrighted, but I thought recording programming for personal use was legal?
    Basically, yes it is copyrighted.
Recording for personal use, well that is a bit complicated. Time shifting/space shifting is permitted.

    And the landmark case itself

I always thought duplication for the purpose of distribution constitutes infringement....
That one would be infringement but it does not mean others things are not infringement. Some things can clearly constitute criminal infringement as noted in the items above.
But there is alot of gray areas also.
MTV from 1983 - cool (liked the music from back then). But I am not sure if answering anymore somehow would violate the terms of this board.
