Landscape Issue AccAD 2.2 (Federated Portals)

Hello,
I have a performance issue, I have CE 7.2 and EP 7.0. Both are integrated as a Federated Portal. The CE 7.2 is the producer and EP 7.0 is the consumer or front end to our employees.
We have remote locations with low bandwiths so we implemented AccAD 2.2 with the EP and the performance impoved a lot, ...the EP, but all the cache management is done to the EP objects, all the CE objects (javascripts, themes) are making the portal performance very low. The start page could take more than 240 seconds to display (because is showing some federated web dynpros iviews).
After analizing, I see that one of the files that takes long is the sapurmapi_ie6.js that is loaded from the CE.
How can I make the AccAD platform to work with the CE? What's your recommendation? How can I solve this issue?
I think that if I make an upgrade to NW 7.3 I could avoid the federated portal and work with only one server (CE and EP are together), however right now is not my reality? Please can you give me an advice?
Best Regards
SU

Hi Zeev,
I tried to change again and hit "Apply".  it finally went back.
I did it last weekend, since it is production.
Thank you very much.
There are a few things I consider as problem.
1. Secondary SFE: They still do not communicate each other
2. Database error: on Repository, Audit and Traffic history tabs show "Could not connect to the database"
--->by the way, my test systems have no problems.
3. On my SAP system, AL08, connections from CFEs displayed with the CFEs virtual IPs instead of SFEs.
---> as I experienced from 2.1, this is not right. they have to be appeared with the SFEs virtual IP.
version 2.1: Enduser -> CFE -> SFE -> SAP
version 2.2: Enduser -> CFE -
> SAP ???

  • Federated Portal

    Hi All,
We are trying to decide whether to federated or not.  We currently have one EP7 portal only with content from both ECC and BI and in the process of upgrading BI to 2004s.  Since we have global users we understand that federating it will improve performance.  Also managing portals will be easier.  I keep reading the different things about federated portal like Multitenant Portal, External Facing Portal etc.
But is there any technical difficulties in implementing a single EP7 on 2004s.  We have been told with the BI 2004s upgrade the AS-Java installation needs Portal to be installed also at the same time as a mandatory rule.  Is that true?  I dont understand how that can be as then AS ABAP+JAVA will be on the same box as portal and that will create a performance issue.
Our bottom line is that we will want to federate if there are technical limitations against a non-federated portal landscape like something mentioned above.  We dont want to federate because of the advantages mentioned in paragraph #1.
I am a business warehouse person and I think federating is similar to using a multicube where you add cubes (portals) later on and manage your data at a smaller level.  As much as I appreciate the advantages of federating in that respect it shouldnt be a mandatory choice.
    Any thoughts is welcome!!

    Hi Maria,
No the cache is not invalidated in the case you mentioned.
You can set a time interval for the cache to be automatically invalidated, or invalidate it manually.
However there is no notification service that notify Consumers of changes made in the Producer.
This is not a major issue if you don't change the structure / Navigation of the Producer content.
    Hope this helped,
If you have any more question, Please feel free to ask,
    Regards
    Roy

  • Error while accessing a BI iView from the federated portal to the BI portal

    Hi,
We got an issue when we execute BI report from our federated SAP Portal.
The user can navigate into the portal, but when he executes an BI iView, sometime he gets the following error message:
    "500 Internal Server Error
    blabla...
    Root Cause
The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:
BEx Web application "xxxxx" does not exist. The application was either ended by a timeout or an error occurred, which was entered into the trace log. See SAP Notes 937697 and 948490"
He can then refresh the page and execute the report again, and it will works.
    Here is our lanscape :
    Federated Portal EP6 SP18
    BI Portal SP20
Iview are created on the Federated Portal and consume BI web template.
I don't think about a timeout issue, since sometime we got the selection screen and once we click on a button (after some seconds) we got the error.
    Any ideas ?
    rgds,
    Sebastien

    Hello,
Please could you remove the proxy setting and check whether it will give you same error or not.
Even we have faced the similar similar issue and once we have removed the proxy setting and cross checked it , it worked fine and later we came to know that the problem is in network proxy setting application.Check with the net working team for the same.
    Thanks

  • Missing MSS iViews in Federated Portal Network

Hello, portal gurus, we have a FPN related issue that hope some of you can help.
We have two portal systems that we set up as a Federated Portal
Network. One producer portal, verision is 7.0, SP11, and one
consumer portal, version is 7.0 SP13. We installed the ESS and MSS business
packages in the producer portal. Those business packages came with the SAP NetWeaver
2005 installation, and they are working ok on the producer portal.
In addition, we were able to do the remote role assignment in the
consumer portal successfully. The problem is that some of the MSS
links and iViews that are shown up ok in the producer portal are missing from the consumer portal.
Have anyone experienced the same issue? Is it because the dismatch of the SP level causing the issue? Are there any fixes to this issu?
Thanks a lot for any input!
    Jane

    Hi Jane,
PCD content and KM content are two different things and they have different transport mechanism.
If you want to transport PCD content to another portal go to System Administration/Transport/Transport Package/Export. In PCD tree in any place create transport package and add to it objects which you need (folders, roles, worksets, iviews and so on) and save transport package file localy on your computer or server. After that go to the system where you want to locate your content. Go to System Administration/Transport/Transport Package/Import If you save tranport file localy on your computer chose client and upload tranport file.
KM transport very clear describe here How to Export KM Contents by ICE protocol using Offline Channel Beside this way you can transport KM content use program Portal Drive (very useful program especially when you need quickly transport some KM files from one portal to another).

  • Issue with session management with portal 701 AFP

    Hi portal experts,
We are facing an issue with one of our portal 7 ehp1 running the AJAX framework pages.
When logging off, the DSM popup is shown and it disappears. However, the backend sessions are kept alive when we look in transaction SM12, which indicates that the backend session has not been closed (proven in transaction SM04)
The same issue arises when closing a popup window. In this case, no DSM popup is shown and the sessions are maintained as well.
    Popup blockers are disabled
Portal url and backend url are in the trusted sites collection
Does this have something to do with the AJAX framework?
Does anyone have any pointers for us?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Luk

    Hi Tom,
I already came across this note earlier. Currently I'm unable (not allowed) to install the httpwatch utility.
To add to the complexity, web dispatchers are used to access the portal and used between the portal and the backend systems. If I understood correctly, we need to have the ABAP Security Sessions Enabled setting turned on in this sort of landscape. Is this correct?
If it is not required, couldn't we just turn off this setting?
    Thanks in advance!

  • TLN missing for users in Federated Portal Network Setup

    Hello All,
We are facing a weird problem in our Federated portal Production setup; when the users login to portal they are not able to see the TLN. On further investigating we found that this issue is happening when the user id is locked in any of the producer portals within our FPN environment due to which the users are not able to view roles related to other systems as well in which there id is active.
This issue is reproducable but only occur once the ID are locked and password is expired in one of the assigned system.
Our FPN setup is as below:
    Consumer C connects to Producers
    1. A (RDL)
    2. B (RDL)  - BI Dual Stack
    3. D (RRA)  -  BI Dual Stack
    In turn A (producer) connects to 4 ECC systems (F3, M1, R1, R5)
We are using RRA and RDL both in our environment. We have connected all federated portal with P4 Port, so if required we
    can use RDL.
Please note our consumer C is EHP1 SP5 and both BI systems B and D are EP 7 sp13.
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated as this is critical issue affecting users in our production environment badly.
    Regards,
    Priyanka

    Hello,
This was an SAP bug. We raised an OSS message and it is taken care now. User now gets TLN and then portal runtime error if the id is locked.

  • Federated Portal Network FPN: exception Remote Delta Links rdl

    Consumer Portal version: 7.01 SP2
    Producer Portal version: 7.00 SP15
I always receive an exception when i try to preview a remote delta link.
I think I've setted up correctly the trust relationship between my portals. Because when I log on to my consumer portal and I open the producer portal in the same browser I don't need to give my user credentials. This is a simple test to see if the the trust relationship is working...
In the portal content studio I'm able to see my portal producers and their content. There is also no problem to copy for eg. an url iView from my producer to the portel content of my consumer portal as local content. when I try to preview my iView I receive a runtime error!
Anyone who'd like to share some ideas? Known issues?
    Thanks

I've posted my solution in this thread:
Re: Federated Portal Network FPN: exception Remote Delta Links rdl
    My problem is already solved!
    Thanks anyway,

  • Federated Portal Network - Unexpected Error - Unable to get IView

    Hallo.
I have this problem: I have two portal federated.
When I create an iView BI7.0 from the consumer portal , that points to the producer portal , when I execute it I obtain the error :
    500 Internal Server Error

Exception occured while processing the current request; this exception cannot be handled by the application or framework
If the information on this page does not help you locate and correct the cause of the problem, contact your system administrator
To facilitate analysis of the problem, keep a copy of this error page Hint: Most Web browsers allow you to select all content, and copy and paste it into an empty document (such as in an email or simple text file)
    Root Cause
The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:
Unexpected error - Unable to get IView: fpn:consumer_ABC/pcd:portal_content/com.abc.AbcFolder/zcitbi70/worksetBI70/Prova/sottoprova/BI7ReportProgetti:lQ9fUQ0dfID4PPyUU4cpZg%3D%3D:1:
Note that I am able to see the iview, role etc from consumer to producer, so the Federated Portal Network seems to work.
    What could I do ?

  • Federated Portal Network not working - specific scenario!

    hi,
I tried to implement Federated Portal Network between three systems.
    2 Producers
    1 Consumer.
The systems i use are in the following fashion
    Producer 1: Sneak Preview NW04s EP700 SP09
    Consumer :  Sneak Preview NW04s EP700 SP09
    Producer 2: NW04s Full Version (EP 700 + BI 7.0) SP09
The scenario between Producer1 and Consumer works fine. I'm able to see the roles that are in the Producer1 from my consumer.
But the scenario between Producer2 and my COnsumer doesn't work. I'm not even able to see any roles that are there in my producer from my consumer.
Can someone tell me why this is happening? Is there anyother configuration that i need to do in extra to this if i'm using an ABAP+Java System?
    I've followed http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/5b/9f2d4293825333e10000000a155106/content.htm
    this link for my Configuration.
    Kindly Help.
    Regards
    Ak.
PS: Posts will be appropriately rewarded

    Hello,
We were able to resolve the issue by removing the proxy settings on both portals. We think it was something in the SPS17 support pack that made these settings obsolete.
On both portals, navigate to System Administration u2192 System Configuration u2192 Service Configuration.
Go to the Portal Catalog, navigate to the com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice application.
    Open the proxy service.
Remove the proxy server property values, as necessary and leave the defaults for Proxy Server.
NOTE: We are using a reverse proxy and we did have to define its settings in the proxy service. But after installing SPS17 we had to remove them and restart both portals. This resolved our FPN issues.
    Thank you,
    Jim V

  • Federated portal network - missing tab on consumer role

    Hi,
We're on EP 7.01, SP4, and on two occantions we've had problems with missing tabs on a consumer role in our federated portal network setup. An entire workset on both occations is missing from the RDL-shared role. In the two cases the problem has been observed on different roles with two different worksets. When analyzing the RDL-shared roles, the producer role is fine but the consumer role is simply missing the attached workset. If the role is copied to the consumer again, the workset is still missing.
A full synchronization solves the problem.
The RDL-mechanism has been running fine for over half a year, so its quit odd that we now experience this issue.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
    Kind regards,
    Rasmus

    Hi Rasmus,
Is your consumer portal required High Availability?  A scheduled re-bounce of the instance should help (weekly, monthly, etc.) as a preventive measure.  Maybe you can observe to see how long does it take before the problem comes back (after a full cache refreshed) and then schedule your re-bounce accordingly.  As much as we try to do our best, "things" happen
Or, you can adjust your cache settings (e.g. reduce the maxValidityPeriodInSecond property) to avoid the problem.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/5b/9f2d4293825333e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
According to the following link, the cache stores only semantic objects (iViews, pages, layouts and roles); since worksets are not semantic objects, could that be why?!

  • URL to XSS WebDynpro's in Federated Portal Network

    Hi,
i'm setting up a federated portal network between a producer portal (SPS18) (https://producer.domain.com) with the XSS applications deployed and a consumer portal (SPS13) (https://consumer.domain.com). I'm using the Remote Role Assigment (RRA).
The federation works fine (sort of) because on the consumer portal I can assign the remote roles but when I launch any of the XSS applications from the producer portal, the applications are launched with the wrong url -> https://producer:50000 (note that it's httpS) instead of https://producer.domain.com
I'm confused to where this configuration is done. As far as I know I can change settings in:
    -  the Federation configuration (there is no mention of the port 50000 there at all)
    - the portal system landscape of the producer portal (modified the WebDynpro_XSS system to use https:443)
    - the system landscape directory (where all the JCO connections are maintained and the Java Server instance)
    - anywhere else
    Can anyone help?
    Much obliged
    Marcel

Solved it. It is done in the federation configuration. In SAP  Note 880482 - Central Note: Federated Portal Network (SAP NetWeaver 7.0) the problem is identified, specific for SPS13. The two properties of the producer: External Hostname and External Port were not updated properly and needed to be changed manually.

  • Error in Federated Portal - BEx iView

    Hello all,
We have a federated portal configured. Portal A is the main portal and is the Content Consumer and Portal B a BI Portal is the Content Producer. Off some BI reports have started throwing errors.
We found out that an iView BexWeb had gone missing (in its place a yellow triangle was shown). This iView was present in the Portal Content Directory of Portal A (the main portal), but it was delta liked to Portal B. All the iViews of Portal B was visible under the Netweaver Content Producers>Portal B folder. Initially we had done the delta linking from here.
I now tried to a do delta linking once again, but got the following message.
'Could not create remote delta link to object'pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.bex'Could not connect to producer portal. Please check that the producer portal is running, there are no network problems, and your consumer settings for the producer are configured properly'
I tried a connectivity test between Portal A and Portal B, it is functioning correctly. What could be the possible reason for this error?
    TIA,
    PKS

This issue was resolved by our BASIS team. The reply from BASIS team was
I have just modified the ports where the BI Portal is reached from NetWeaver Portal. Maybe later the main port has to be modified again if you want to use reports which uses objects from the abap repository but the the P4 port should not be modified.

  • Publishing Web Pages in a Federated Portal

    Hi all,
we´re running WPC pages in a Federated Portal. We create the pcd structure in the root system and publish the roles in the federated portal. For that we created web pages on the root system. As it isn´t possible to publish WPC pages in a federated portal, we created a WPC runtime iView for each of the pages.
But, when we´re logged on in the federated portal only one of the iViews is visible.
    Can anyone help me out?
    Thx and Rgds,
    Andreas

    Hi all,
we changed our mind an decided to build a new portal landscape for our project. So the problem doesn´t exist any longer.
    Cheers,
    Andreas

  • Custom Authentication on Federated Portal

We are trying to implement our own authentication on a Federated Portal version 7.0. We want to protect some content on the portal by using an authentication scheme and ask some questions from the user using an iView. The whole process works fine on the producer side. But when we try to use the protected content from the consumer side, it seems that the consumer is trying to read the auth scheme from the producer (which is OK), but it tries to load the questions iView from the consumer, which is not found and it throws an exception that “iView not found”.
Another issue is that when we copy an iView as delta link from producer to the consumer side, the iView doesn’t run. It throws exception saying “InitialContext not found”.
    Anybody has any clues?
    Thanks

    Hi Faraz,
I am interested in what you have implemented....we have a requirement where the user logs into portal against LDAP, on success, they then access ESS applications....We are now implementing MSS.  After authenticating through LDAP, If the user clicks on one of the MSS iViews then they need to provide the User ID and PW to the ECC system.  This is because some users have their Admin assistants do work for them in the portal.  However the admin assistants should not be able to access any of the MSS iviews...only the ESS iviews.
Do you think we should write our own custom auth scheme for the MSS iviews?  whats the right direction?

  • Questions on Federated Portal Network

    Hi All,
I have a few questions on Federated Portal Network. Please if someone can provide appropriate answers
It is said that the look n feel will be same. Will the consumer have the look n feel of the producer or the producer application will have the look n feel of the consumer portal. Also, if it is required for the content of the producer portal to maintain it's own look n feel, is it possible
How to take care of the performance bottlenecks. Are there any standards available to improve the performance
Any limitation on the no of producer portals which can be configured with the consumer portal
If one portlet, has undergone some kind of change, then how is the consumer portal notified of this. Is there some kind of synchronization mechanism that takes place or this change is implicitly conveyed to the consumer portal, both in the case of Remote Delta Link or Remote Role Assignment
How does the session management work between the consumer portal and producer portal
What is meant by transitive content sharing
    Regards

    Hi Rasmus,
Is your consumer portal required High Availability?  A scheduled re-bounce of the instance should help (weekly, monthly, etc.) as a preventive measure.  Maybe you can observe to see how long does it take before the problem comes back (after a full cache refreshed) and then schedule your re-bounce accordingly.  As much as we try to do our best, "things" happen
Or, you can adjust your cache settings (e.g. reduce the maxValidityPeriodInSecond property) to avoid the problem.

According to the following link, the cache stores only semantic objects (iViews, pages, layouts and roles); since worksets are not semantic objects, could that be why?!
