Landscape of sap

hi all
can any one pls explain me about landscape of sap
thanks in advance

Landscape is like a server system or like a layout of the servers or some may even call it the architecture of the servers viz. SAP is divided into three different lanscape DEV, QUAL and PROD.
- DEV would have multiple clients for ex: 190- Sandbox, 100- Golden, 180- Unit Test.
- QUAL may again have mutiple clients for ex: 300- Integration Test, 700 to 710 Training.
- PROD may have something like a 200 Production.
Landscape : is the arrangement for the servers
IDES : is purely for education purpose and is NOT INCLUDED in the landscape.
DEVELOPMENT ---> QUALITY -
> PRODUCTION
DEVELOPMENT : is where the the consultants do the customization as per the company's requirement.
QUALITY : is where the core team members and other members test the customization.
PRODUCTION : is where the live data of the company is recorded.
A request will flow from Dev->QUAL->Prod and not backwards.
1. Sandbox server: In the initial stages of any implementation project, You are given a sandbox server where you do all the configuration/customization as per the companies business process.
2. Development Server: - Once the BBP gets signed off, the configuration is done is development server and saved in workbench requests, to be transported to Production server.
3. Production Server: This is the last/ most refined client where the user will work after project GO LIVE. Any changes/ new develpoment is done is development client and the request is transported to production.
These three are landscape of any Company. They organised their office in these three way. Developer develop their program in Development server and then transport it to test server. In testing server tester check/test the program and then transport it to Production Server. Later it will deploy to client from production server.
Presentaion Server- Where SAP GUI have.
Application Server - Where SAP Installed.
Database Server - Where Database installed.

  • What is the Three System Landscape in SAP

    Hi All,
Please explain me What is the Three system Landscape in SAP.
    Thank you very much,
    Kavya.

    1.  Database Layer
The database layer consists of a central database system containing all of the data in the R/3 System. The database system has two components - the database management system (DBMS), and the databse itself. SAP does not manufacture its own database. Instead, the R/3 System supports the following database systems from other suppliers: ADABAS D, DB2/400 (on AS/400), DB2/Common Server, DB2/MVS,INFORMIX, Microsoft SQL Server, ORACLE, and
ORACLE Parallel Server. The database does not only contain the master data and transaction data from your business applications, all data for the entire R/3 System is stored there. For example, the database contains the control and Customizing data that determine how your R/3 System runs. It also contains the program code for your applications. Applications consist of program code, screen
definitions, menus, function modules, and various other components. These are stored in a special section of the database called the R/3 Repository, and are accordingly called Repository objects. You work with them in the ABAP Workbench.
    2.  Application Layer
The application layer consists of one or more application servers and a message server. Each application server contains a set of services used to run the R/3 System. Theoretically, you only need one application server to run an R/3 System. In practice, the services are distributed across more than one application server. This means that not all application servers will provide the full  range of services. The message server is responsible for communication between the application servers. It passes requests from one application server to another within the system. It also contains information about application server groups and the current load balancing within them.  It uses this information to choose an appropriate server when a user logs onto the system.
    3.  Presentation Layer
The presentation layer contains the software components that make up the SAPgui (graphical user interface). This layer is the interface between the R/3 System and its users. The R/3 System uses the SAPgui to provide an intuitive graphical user interface for entering and displaying data.  The presentation layer sends the user’s input to the application server, and receives data for display from it. While a SAPgui component is running, it remains linked to a user’s terminal
    session in the R/3 System.

  • Selecting the Security method for a landscape of SAP BW & BOE & SAP EP

    Hi,
I am BW Consultant with BOE experience.
But i could not use the Landscape such as SAP BW as Warehouse Solution, BOBJ(WebI, Crystal, Xcelsius) as reporting tool and SAP EP as frontend Portal to view all reports.
Now i am in a project where i am using Landscape mentioned above.
Now the question is in this scenario, what is the best practice for security and SSO implementation.
We have installed the SAP BW and BOE. Also BOBJ Integration kit. Now After installing the BOBJ Integration kit, as a post installation & Configuration step we need to import SAP Users and Roles in CMC for 'SAP Authenticaion'. But at this moment we have not decided any approach about the security.
If i mport SAP Users and Roles in to CMC of BOE, is it possible to use AD/LDAP appraoch in the later stage?
Please suggest me best approach to implement the Security and SSO.
    Thanks in Advance
    Bala.

    Hey Bala,
    Log-in to CMC: (as Admin)
    Go to:
    Authentication
here you can see : Enterprise, AD, NT , LDAP & SAP.
Map the Users based on their environment. After doing this, you can see how they are differed.
One more just to update you.
When you opt for SAP authentication, in Authentication @ CMC.
You can see Roles tab, there Check Automatically Import Users and Force User Synchronization.
Automatically import users - This checkbox allows you to enable the import of SAP users that are assigned to the roles that have been imported for the SAP entitlement system.
Force User Syncronisation: If you enable this option, each update in the Role import tab will also result in a syncronisation of the assigned SAP users with the corresponding user accounts on you SAP BOE system.
Check OSS note for scheduling this.

Hope it helps you a lot.

  • Recommended Landscape for SAP

    Hi Experts,
    Is there a SAP recommended landscape when it comes to creating clients? For a example;
Development u2013 Client aaa u2013 ABAP & Config only. No master or transaction data in this client.
Client bbb u2013 Unit testing. Will include master & transaction data.
Quality u2013 Client ccc u2013 Only testing no changes for ABAP or Config
Production u2013 Client ddd u2013 Production client
Pls send me the links where I could locate the SAP recommended landscape, where Client details are included.

  • Landscape for sap netweaver 2004s

    Friends,
Need your advise urgently. Please help us with ur suggestions.
We have installed SAP Netweaver 2004s(BW7.0) in Dev server.
Currently we are planning to create three clients in that server and do
    the client copy.
    client 222 for Dev
    client 333 for Sandbox
    client 444 for QA
Is that possible to have three clients for BW7.0 in same Server?.or we
need to have different servers for Dev,Sandbox and QA?
Please advise the right landscape for Netweaver 2004s..
    Thanks for ur help
    Regards
    Ganesh

    Hi Ganesh,
You can have only 1 client running in one BI system so you would need 3 different systems  - one each for Dev, QA and Prod.

  • ERECRUIT in other location than rest of the landscape (like SAP Portal)

    Dear Colleagues,
because of business reasons we have located ERECRUIT system (stand-alone) for DEV/QAS by another hosting partner than the rest of the HW/SW landscape incl. SAP Portal and HCM. This works very good without any visible delays. But now we have to consider about the PRD system.
Do you see any issues we have to have in mind, any bottlenecks that may occur by similar architecture of system for productive use?
    Best regards
    Waldek

System has to opened to the outside world without vpn (for candidates of course). Often a reverse proxy is used to do this (to mask the real server domainname and port).
You have to maintain table HTTPURLLOC for this. Usually only done in PRO so don't forget to test (correspondance sent to candidates with a link to the startpage in it for example)

  • System Landscape in Sap netweaver 2004s

We have installed SAP Netweaver 2004s in Dev server.
As per the requirement we are planning to create three clients in that server.
    client 212 for Dev
    client 312 for Sandbox
    client 412 for QA
Is that possible to have three clients in sapnetweaver 2004s in same instance?..
    Please advise..
    Thanks

BW Objects are client-independent. IDs of master data as well as of dimensions are created from number ranges but the number range intervals are client-dependent. For example you can define different number range for master data “Busness Partner” in different OLTP systems which you may want to extract data to BW from. To avoid number range overlapping & because only one client can ensure unique ID, we do have only one client for BW.
Please assign points if you find it useful.

  • How to set-up BO Xcelsius Enterprise in a layered SAP BW landscape

    Dear all,
We are implementing BO Xcelsius Enterprise next to an existing SAP Netweaver BW landscape (including SAP BW 7.0).
We want to use the direct Xcelsius-SAP BW connection using the BI Consumers Services from EHP 1.
Currently we're using a 3 system landscape for our SAP BW environment, a development, Test and production server.
    A) Could you specify what the best practice is for implementing Xcelsius Enterprise as tool:
Option 1: Only 1 Xcelsius server supporting the whole BI landscape
    or
Option 2: set-up 3 Xcelsius servers, one for BW development,
                                                    one for the test environment
                                                    one for the production environment
And what are the transport possibilities in the 2nd scenario?
    B) Also we would like to know how the live-data connection is working when a dahboard user is refreshing the data in the dahboard:
    1) is the BW query triggered directly from the Xcelsius Dashboard to the SAP BW server and is the dataflow going directly from the BW server to the Xcelsius Dashboard ?
    or
    2) is the BW query triggered indirectly from the Xcelsius Dashboard to the SAP BW server via the Xcelsius Enterprise Server and is the dataflow going indirectly from the BW server to the Xcelsius Dashboard via the Xcelsius Enterprise Server ?
Thanks in advantage for you're answers!
    Kind regards,
    Marc Nuijten

    Hi Marc,
Option 1: Only 1 Xcelsius server supporting the whole BI landscape
    or
Option 2: set-up 3 Xcelsius servers, one for BW development,
    one for the test environment
    one for the production environment
And what are the transport possibilities in the 2nd scenario?
    >> In regards to the direct connectivity towards SAP BW there is no need to have a SAP BusinessObjects server environment for Xcelsius. The Xcelsius file is hosted inside the SAP NetWeaver BW system and it is also a transportable object.
    >>> That depends to a certain degree on the dashboard design. You can call the connections when the Xcelsius dashboard is being executed but you can also decide to trigger the connection.

  • Best practice SAP landscape

    Hello all,
I would like to know if there is some kind of best practice regarding SAP landscape in a big company.
For example is it recommended to have in the landscape a SAP Quality Assurance System open for customizing (transaction SCC4) so that quick customizing tests are performed at any moment, instead of customizing in Development system and then transports in QaS. (this can be very frustrating because for solving and testing an issue it's possible that numerous customizing tasks and reset of customzing is neccessary) ?
How SAP compliant would this solution be?
Thank you very much for your help!
    Daniel Nicula

Hmmm, I do not know exactly if the question can be posed here in GRC related threads.
But it seemed to me that it is somehow connected.
Anyway, I agree with you that final customizing should be done in DEV and then transported in QAS.
What i am not sure is if it is against SAP recommendations to have a QAS opened for customizing and try all the solutions for an issue. And in the end when you are sure of what you want to do and to obtain, then you do the customizing also in DEV and follow the normal transport route.
Which can be the risks in case you have a QAS opened for customizing?
    Thank you.

  • SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD) Privileges

    Hello everyone,
I'm not really sure if this is the correct place to start this discussion, but any help and support is really appreciated.
The question is as follows: is it possible to define object privileges in SLD such as Products, Software Component Versions, Technical Systems and Business System for example, to define which user can modify a Technical System? I assume there's is a way by role and groups on the UME to define privileges to display or modify objects in whole SLD, but I don't know if on a lower level this is possible.
thanks in advance for help and support.
    Regards,
    Julio Cesar

    Hello Julio,
I am not sure if you can define certain UME actions for objects within the SLD. These objects are usually maintained by a SLD administrator. There is however a way to create a new UME role and assign new SLD action to it.
In your Web browser, enter the URL of the Identity Management using the following format:http://<host>:<port>/useradmin .
Create user groups and UME roles of your choice and assign each UME role to the appropriate user group(s) as well as to the UME action(s). You can use the predefined UME roles as a template so create your own UME roles (as descibed in the table above).
If you want to create a UME role for SLD content synchronization or for SLD administration, you need to assign the Destination_Service_Write_Permission  UME action, which belongs to thetc~sec~destinations~service service, to your own UME role.
For more information about which UME actions there are available I suggest to use the following site:
Configuring SLD Security Roles - Security Guide for the SAP System Landscape Directory - SAP Library

  • Removing risks and violations in existing SAP Landscape

There is a landscape where SAP ECC is already installed and we are planning to install AC 5.3. As the roles are already there in ECC Dev system, so we will perform the risk analysis in Dev and once free of risks, move the role to Production.
I would like to know, from where to start in already existing sap roles structure to free up them from risks. Do we need to provide the business process roles to indiviual BP Owners like FI roles to FI team and same for others to clear the risks and violations.  Once completed from them, run them in RAR to found any risk violations remaining. If still found, follow the same process till all the roles and clean and can be moved to production.
Do we need to start from transaction level?
    Any help appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sanjay

    Sanjay,
there are various ways to achieve that and many replies are already there (pls search similar threads)
    well small summary will be
    1. customize standard rules per your org requirement
    2. role are already existing, hence i expect they were create business wise
    3. run analysis on all the role and have a report in your hand
    4. discuss with various security leads of each buisness, which risk wish to be removed and which one to be mitigated
    5. once done with cleaning of role, it's time you run analysis on users and mitigate or clean...........
    hope it helps
    regards,
    Surpreet

  • HCM in an SAP for Utilities Landscape

If HCM were required in a Landscape running SAP for Utilities should HCM be run in the same ECC instance running Utilities or its own instance?
I appreciate that the answer may not be a simple yes/no but some guidance on the factors to take into consideration would be appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation of a reply.

    Narasimha,
many thanks for you reply.  It's the assertion in your reply that IS-U "stands on a separate server" that I'm trying to understand.  Is it always the case that IS-U should run on it's own ECC implementation?
My understanding of the  switch framework is that you could run multiple cross industry solutions but only ever one industry solution on the same ECC in which case it should be okay for IS-U to run on the same ECC as HCM, but I'm relatively new to this so may have got the wrong end of a stick somewhere!
