Landscape orientation grayed out

I have recently submitted an updated Single Edition App to the AppStore. While everything looked ok while I was building the app, now that i've donloaded the final app from the AppStore itself, all I get is a bunch of gray images screens where my pages should be.
It's a single edition, landscape only orentation folio.
It looks like the viewer is portrait only, while it has only landscape content and thus displays only grayed-out screens. When you call the index it does display that. The page overview only shows a bunch of gray, portrait screens. Also the orientation is locked to portrait.
This was not the case when I checked the app through the DPS viewer, or when I checked the distribution app downloaded through DBS Builder.
Please tell me how to fix this soon, because this thing is live in the AppStore.

OK... Panick attack averted.
Apparantly I downloaded my version 1.0 (which was built last year with an iOS 7 incompatible viewer). Dispite the AppStore information being updated to my 2.0 information, it still downloaded the old app.
When I looked just now the AppStore notified me of an available update. Now that I've installed that, everything works as expected (viewer version v28).
Apple did notify me that it could take up to 24 hours of the update being available. I just didn't think the AppStore information would precede the actual app.

  • Is there any way to change the orientation of the cover to landscape?  They are all in the portrait mode and the orientation button is grayed out.

I've looked at all the templates and I need a cover in the landscape orientation.  How can I do that?

You can submit covers with different dimensions from within iTunes Producer.  Design a cover within Apple guidelines (minimum 600 pixels in either height or width) then within iTunes Producer select Assets / Cover Art > Choose.... select a new cover and deliver it with your book package.

  • A single report can't combine portrait and landscape oriented pages

    Hi,
Can a single report in Crystal report XI (version 11.5.8.826) combine portriat and landscape oriented pages like Crystal report 2008?   For example, I have one main report with several subreports in the main report.  I want one subreport be in portrait page orientation and the other subreports in landscape.  Can I do something like that in Crystal report XI version?    I even tried writing a small .net program to do this, but it doesn't seem to allow me to do that programmatically either.  Please help

I'd like to elevate this issue with Crystal Reports XI. There is a critical application which we developed in-house which needs both portrait and landscape orientation in each of the 30,000 plus documents we are sending out every month. If developers in Business Objects are picking this thread up - we need a patch for this limitation - quick. Right now, we are toying with the possibility of exporting the documents into a text format with markers indicating if a page is portrait or landscape. This is to be loaded into a Xerox machine (which costs hundreds of thousands of dollars), where it is mapped automatically to portrait or landscape. Note to Business Objects: This will provide us and countless others with much value. Think 80/20 rule - most bang for your development bucks and value for your customers!

  • Landscape option Greyed out in Page setup

    Hi
I am using Crystal reports Product version 11.0.0.1830.
I have to edit an existing report, and have done successfully on a number of reports already, but it involves adding a lot more columns to the report, therefore making it too large for paper.
So far I have gone in to Page setup, and clicked the 'No Printer (Optimise for screen display) and changed the orientation to landscape. This has worked for 2 reports.
The third is basically the same report, but when I open page setup, the No Printer option is already ticked, but the landscape orientation option is greyed out, and portrait selected.
Is there somewhere else that this could be set that overiddes this. All the reports have the same printer settings, so I can't see this being the issue.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
    I have worked this out.
For some reason the server was setting the default printer to be the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer, which overides any setting in the report.
setting a normal printer to be the default printer has worked.

  • PDF with Portait and Landscape Orientation act differently between pages

    Hi,
I have issue when I'm trying to have a landscape orientation in a PDF with another portrait page.
All I want to do is have a small page which indicates instructions on the form because it is a form builder, once the form is created by the user the landscape page gets hidden.
My issue here is that when I set a masterpage to landscape it makes it different to switch between pages.
I can't see more than 1 page at a time, just like it can't show a landscape and portait orientation together in the screen.
I have another form with landscape and portait together and it works fine, but this form doesn't stay normal... There must be something I'm missing...
It is annoying that I can't have more than one page in the screen, once I hit the bottom or the top of the page it switches automatically to the other page.
Please help me on this, I'm trying to figure out what is causing this bug..

    Hi,
I haven't used form builder, but do you still have a viewState, try adding the following line in the docReady event of the form
    event.target.viewState = { pageViewLayoutMode:2 };
This has the same effect as setting Enable Scrolling on the View ... Page Display menu.
A value of 1 would give you the single page view.

  • Portrait/landscape orientation from MS Word to .pdf

I just converted my first Word document to a .pdf with Adobe.com Air.  The Word doc was created in a portrait orientation, but the .pdf
came out in a landscape orientation.  Can't figure out how to correct?

The original was an MS Word document (.doc) created with page set up for portrait orientation.  It shows and prints
in portrait orientation.  I converted to a .pdf on Adobe.com and the pdf file was in landscape.  When the pdf is viewed (previewed?)
on Adobe.com, it appears in landscape.  It is a one page document and was never saved to any other format.  Since the original Word
document is in the correct format, how would I alter the formating to re-upload and convert again?  I have attached both the .doc & .pdf files.

  • Win Elements 7 won't print in landscape orientation

O.K. my PSE 5 will print in landscape orientation along the length of roll paper with an Epson Stylus 7600, but no matter what combinations I use with PSE 7, and making sure that at all stages the landscape icons/buttons are selected, PSE 7 won't print in anything else than portrait orientation and the image on the print page shows that, as does the print preview if I go to print. What is the issue here? I have tried deleting and reinstalling PSE 7 and also deleting the printer preferences at start up but this has no effect on the problem. I can edit in PSE 7, save the file, then reopen and print with PSE 5 with no problem, but that is not the point. I am using Win XP with 2G of ram and as pointed out, it works fine with PSE 5 with all my photo files.

Are you sure tht settings used re same in PSE5 & PSE7... Are you using Organizer or Editor for Printing?

  • Duplex printing issues with landscape orientation

I have read through all of the previous questions, and can't seem to resolve my problem here.
I am using Acrobat 8 Professional (8.2.2).  I have created a PDF from a Powerpoint presentation.  I need to be able to send this to someone else and have them view it on screen with the correct orientation, and also duplex print it correctly, as all of our company printers default to duplex printing (to save paper).  However, since the person who prints it is going to staple it in the upper left hand corner, it really needs to be duplexed to open along the left edge (the short edge of the paper).
When I first bring up the print screen the document has the incorrect orientation; i.e. it shows a thumbnail of an 8.5 x 11" page in portrait orientation, and my content is reduced in size to fit the 8.5 width.  I think this is really the issue at hand--for some reason, even though the page is set up in Powerpoint as a 8.5x11 landscape oriented document, when it exports to the PDF format, that orientation doesn't hold.
Anyway, it seems that no matter what settings I try to adjust, it doesn't seem to work.  I have toggled "Auto-Rotate and Center," I have toggled the duplex settings in the PDF document properties.  I have toggled the duplex print settings on my printer driver between "Open to Left" and "Open to Top."  None of it seems to make any difference in the final printout--basically what comes out of my printer is a document that is rotated to print out as if it was a portrait page, and is bound on the left edge (so each second page is printed upside down, when I am looking at it in landscape orientation).
The only work-arounds I can think of would be to rotate every other page in the PDF so that when it printed it printed correctly.  However, then the PDF would not be readable on the screen.  I could generate two separate versions of the PDF, one marked for print, and the other for viewing--but that is a real waste.
Does anyone have any suggestions here?  I am looking for a way either to get the PDF software to "understand" that this document is a landscape document from the get-go (then it SHOULD work to duplex print correctly with the "Open to Left" setting), or maybe create a custom print setting for this document that allows me to rotate every other page as it is printed, but that doesn't rotate the pages on the screen.
I hope this is all clear...and that someone can offer some advice.
    Thanks!
    Melise
P.S.  Just in case it makes any difference, I am running Windows XP Professional and am using the Microsoft Office 2007 software package.  Because the company has multiple different printers throughout the company, I need a solution that will work without regards to the specific printer driver.

I am having the exact same issue.  The setting of "Auto-Rotate and Center" has no affect.
Do I have to rotate the odd pages 180 so they are upside down in the PDF, but print correctly?
I am using Acrobat 9 Pro V. 9.3.3 in Win 7 Pro 64, to HP CP6015XH (colour laser).

  • How do I sort photos the way I want them to appear within an Event? Sort Manually is always grayed out. SAR

Keep trying but sort manually stays grayed out. All I want to do is sort photos within one event the way I want them to appear.

    It's like iTunes:
You can view an music album on iTunes and there are all the tracks. The hit single, the annoying filler that they stuck on, all there.
Or you can create a Playlist of just the singles, or tracks from various albums that work together well, or just your favourite tracks from different artists and so on.
In iPhoto: the Event has all the photos taken at that time. So, all 812 photos you took at the Wedding. All there.
An Album allows you to just use the 50 best ones, and possibly group them with 12 from the Rehearsal and five others from the day after. Just the best shots. Or bunch all the photos of the groom from birth to today, or all the photos of the bride and her dog. Or whatever. Really, the limit is your imagination.
Like Playlists in iTunes, images in an iPhoto album are simply referenced from the Library. So a photo can be in any number of albums and use no extra disk space.
Then, once you couple your imagination with metadata...
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

  • How do I print text document (spreadsheet) in 11 x 17 format with landscape orientation?

Print preview shows only in portrait orientation when I get an image at all, then when I hit "print" icon, get instant message that says "out of memory".  Also cannot seem to get printer to recognize 11 x 17 size -- keeps saying that printer settings & paper size do not match.

Don't want to come across as ungrateful, but I'm NOT impressed with how these postings are being handled.  Guess I should expect that with HP -- ever since their calculators came out with RPN, the culture of HP has been different from most others.
To repeat myself, my printer is HP B8550 Photosmart, capable of wide format printing -- the reason I purchased this one after reading reviews by others  of all its features.  My OS is Windows XP Home Edition.  My problem is with trying to print out a spreadsheet format of a large genealogical database that I have created, using Windows Works.  When I open the file, create the desired printer settings, and perform the page set-up tasks, all I get when I hit "print preview" is an error message that says "out of memory", which prevents any further action.  When I clear that from the screen & try to see a print preview, I get a truncated image of the spreadsheet in PORTRAIT orientation & not the LANDSCAPE orientation that I have set the document printing for.
While awaiting a useful response from yesterday's forum (& not getting one), I tried a different Word document while using the same 11 x 17 sheet size setting for the printer, & that document was processed without a hiccup.  I'm now more inclined to believe that there is something wrong with my Window Works software & NOT the printer software that just doesn't want to deal with 11 x 17 spreadsheets in queue or out on the stack (or heap -- wherever the machine stages such data for processing), but I just don't know.  Made a separate file using just one page of the database, thinking that maybe the 4.5 MB file size was the problem, but that had absolutely no effect on the situation -- it won't print even that small file as structured.  To display all the data, I need to use landscape orientation.  Puzzled why it won't show in that orientation even within print preview.
ANY advice on how to get this project to work properly is appreciated -- it represents about 8 years' worth of work in creating it & I'm ready to make a hard copy to use while doing on-site work at various archives holding such records.

  • Force Landscape Orientation?

Does anybody know of a way to force landscape orientation for a view controller in an iPhone application?
I have defined a UI in Interface Builder that I want to always show in landscape mode.
When the app first starts though, it is always in Portrait Mode.
Once the orientation is changed to landscape it will never go back to Portrait since I have setup the shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation method correctly, but I can't seem to figure out a way to start it out in landscape mode.

Andrew, I'm having a very similar problem. Have you found a solution yet?
I have an app that has two screens, one is displayed landscape, and the other is displayed portrait. The user can press a button to swap between them. When I switch between the views I call
    [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait];
    or
    [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight];
to put the device into the correct orientation for whichever view I'm about to display.
Problem is, if the user is on the landscape screen, rotates the phone to portrait, and then presses the button to switch to the screen that is in portrait, the new view gets put on in the wrong orientation (landscape). If the user then rotates the device to landscape and back to portrait, it fixes itself. It's like the phone ignored the call to [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait]; if the device is already being held in portrait orientation.
I've been at this for a few days now, and I'm really stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can't print large document in landscape orientation

I have a large document (16x32") that I am trying to print on a single legal sized page.
I have landscape mode selected in Page Setup, yet when I select Print and tell it to print to a single Legal page (under Paper Handling I select Scale To Fit Paper Size and then select US Legal), it ends up printing in portrait orientation--even though the preview in the Print dialog box has it in landscape.
I have printed this document before (a month or two ago) and it worked fine.  There have been I think 2 updates in the intervening weeks, has one of the updates changed something about printing?
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Details: Pages 5.1, OS X Mavericks 10.9.1, MacBook Pro (late 2008)

    OK, guys, try this:
    Open Pages.
Creat a new file.  --I picked the template "Blank" (which starts in portrait mode, mind you) in the "Basic" group.
    Go to File->Page Setup.
    Select Paper Size->Manage Custom Sizes.
Click the "+" and create a new custom paper size.  Title it "Really Big Paper" or whatever.
Make the paper size 34 wide by 56 high.  (Again, portrait orientation).  Click “OK”.
Make the paper landscape orientation and click “OK”.
Put something in the file—like a big light gray box (make its Opacity <50% so you don’t waste ink) that fills up the whole page.
    Select File->Print
Click the popup menu that says “Layout” and select “Paper Handling”
Click the box for “Scale to fit paper size” and select “US Legal” as the Destination Paper Size.
    Click the “Print” button.
What do you get?  I get a gray box horizontally across the middle third of a portrait oriented page.  What I want is a page almost entirely filled with gray, which is what would happen if it really printed in landscape mode.
You can fool around with the custom paper size and start with it shorter on width or shorter on height, but if you want to print a document that is large and is wider than it is tall, when you print it on a single page, it will always print **across the middle of a portrait oriented page** and not in landscape mode.
I can repeat this on both my HP and Canon printers.  Same result.  So it isn’t the print driver, unless you think HP and Canon have the same bug in their print drivers (fairly unlikely, I would guess).  You can print to PDF and you get the same result, too.
Again: printing worked fine for me a few weeks (and one or two Pages updates) ago!

  • Type on a Path grayed out in CS3

I am new to Illustrator, following Help to run type around a circle. It tells me to select the type object and then select "Type on a Path," however, that option is mysteriously grayed out. What might I be doing wrong. Please help!
    thanks!

Back up a few topics to the one titled "Entering Text." Read the subtopic, "Enter Text Along A Path."
In the Help area to which you are referring, where the instructions say to "select the type object," it means for you to select not just an *ordinary* type object, but a path that already has text attached to it (what I call a pathType object, but which Illustrator calls a "Type on Path object"). In other words, it assumes you have already typed text along a path and is telling you to select that kind of text object.
If you select that type...uh...KIND of object, you will then find the Type On A Path menu selectable, and you'll be able to get to the orientation options.
    Start this way:
    1. Ellipse Tool: Draw an Ellipse.
    2. Type on a Path Tool: Click the edge of the ellipse and type characters.
    3. Type menu: Type On A Path...
    Don't worry. It's not you.
Illustrator has so-called "Point Type objects" and so-called "Area Type objects". But what one might expect to be referred to as "Path Type ojbects" are called "Type on Path objects". The Appearance Palette doesn't help. It labels all three as simply "Type".
AI's Javascript refers to them as "areaText", "pointText", and "pathText". But no one would know that, unless messing with Javascript.
The Document Info Palette--uh, no, that's a PANEL now--refers to them as "Point Type objects", "Area Type objects", and "Type on Path objects". But who would think to look there? And it only does that if you select Objects from its little hidden flyout menu. And who would think to do that?
There are, of course, not three, but SIX type tools. The regular one, the...uh..."Type Tool", can be used to create "Area Type objects" and "Type on Path objects" as well as "Point Type objects". So you don't really have to use the separate "Area Type Tool" and "Type on a Path Tool". If you click the edge of a closed path with the "Type Tool", you will create an "Area Type object"...unless you press Alt, in which case you will create a "Type on Path object". But if the path is open, clicking its edge with the "Type Tool" will create a "Type on Path object"...unless of course you press Alt, in which case it will create an "Area Type object".
    Confused yet? No?
Then perhaps it's time to take a look at the cleverly-named Effect>Distort & Transform>Transform command. Or the Pathfinder menu commands which are not to be confused with the identically-named Pathfinder Panel buttons which don't do exactly the same things, or the Shape Modes which also reside in the Pathfinder Panel.
You'll also find three cutting tools, none of which work right, and a Page Tool that does not manipulate pages. Illustrator doesn't have any pages; it has an Artboard. The Page Tool doesn't move the Artboard, either; it moves the printing tiles.
Before quitting for the evening, be sure to kneel beside your computer, press your palms together and, solemnly rotating to face the twelve signs of the zodiac, recite these twelve words twelve times out-loud in a slow rythmic monotone: "Strokes and Fills are not Attributes but Appearances but Appearances have Attributes."
    Welcome to Illustrator. ;-)
