Landscape Remote keyboard for use on Apple TV?

Using the keyboard on my iphone in the Remote app is WAY better than having to use the aluminum remote to select letters one by one when I'm doing a search.
But it seems I have to use the keyboard in portrait mode on my iphone.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to enable landscape keyboard mode on the iphone Remote app for use when searching on Apple TV? That would make it even easier and more natural to do text searches on ATV.

I am trying to use my Logitech 350 wired keyboard with my Apple Mac Mini. Is there any key that can function like the Apple Function or Apple Option keys? Also, how does one get the F1-12 keys to work and what do they do?

  • Remapping Macintosh keyboard for use with XP?

    Hi all,
I am using a KVM to share my monitor, mouse, and standard white Mac keyboard between the G5 and a Windows XP machine.
Been trying to find a simple means of remapping the keys in XP so that things like @ and " are swapped, amongst others. I've tried a couple of remap utilities but the keyboard layouts never show enough keys. Now using Microsoft's keyboard layout creator, http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/msklc.mspx which should work, but I need an existing keyboard layout with the correct number of keys (110 to be exact).
Has anyone remapped the whole Mac keyboard for use in XP and can provide a settings file, or blank keyboard layout file?
    Cheers,
    Justin

The KB looks really nice but I want to have it setup to a KVM switch.
I would rather have wired & use a standard switch. I could enable & disable the KB on each machine as required but thats a lot of hassle....

  • Landscape view/keyboard for Mail and SMS...

Does anybody know if there is anything in the works to give us larger handed iPhone 3G users the ability to turn the phone sideways for a landscape view and slightly larger keyboard when typing in SMS or Mail like we have in landscape view when typing in Safari?

Thanks for the links. This was the main (read: only) reason for me not getting the iPhone.
I love just about everything about it and I have everything mac at home and a mobileme account so the iPhone would complement my needs very well, or so I thought till I used a friend's iPhone for a couple of days.
Typing emails and using SMS with the keyboard in portrait mode was painful. My fingers aren't that large but found myself spending more time correcting than actually typing. In safari I loved the landscape orientation for typing. I think this is a major oversight by apple.
I waited till this past week to see if apple releases an update to address this (what with all the feedback people are leaving on boards and forums about this problem), but nothing showed up so I bit the bullet and got myself a Blackberry Bold.
This was a deal breaker for me. Maybe when they address it I might try out an iPhone in the future.

  • Best UK iPad 3 case supplier w/Bluetooth v3 rechargeable keyboard that uses standard Apple USB-30 pin connector to charge

    Hi
I know this has been the subject of some debate but I am getting a new iPad 3rd Gen today so have been researching iPad 3 cases w/keyboard over the last 3 days and I cannot seem to find a UK dealer / distributor for a (White pref.) iPad 3 case with an integrated bluetooth v3 rechargeable keyboard that DOESNT use micro USB to charge but DOES use the standard Apple 30-pin to USB cable. Is anyone using such a specific thing or know of anyone who makes such a thing and is UK based. Or someone that ships to the UK? I feel something like this shouldnt be expensive (i.e. >£75/$110)
    Thank you

Was about to ask whether anyone tried this with their Stream 7/8, I hope you don't mind me putting this here since our goals are the same. So did anyone try this? I might do it soon, but I just bought an OTG cable, so maybe next time. It just requires a microusb Y cable and a female adapter, no dismantling/cutting/soldering necessary.

  • What is the best external typing keyboard for use with logic studio?

I'm currently using Logic 7 and looking to upgrade to Logic STUDIO.
I want to get a nice typing keyboard with coloured and customised keys (short-cuts) to use in place of the MACBOOK keyboard.
I have previously bought the stickers from Editors keys, but there key command sets suck.
Hoping someone can suggest a better company offering a better product with more intuitive key command settings so that it matches well with LOGIC STUDIO - assuming its been simplifed with its work flow, I want a typing keyboard to match.
Also is it worth gettinga jog wheel to use in place of or in addition to a mouse - I think this is called a shuttle.
Anyway please send your suggestions through.
    Thanks

I believe that there are keyboard overlays for Logic available for the Apple Keyboards... although, I don't think there's anything for 8 yet, seeing as the release probably took them by surprise.
However, I do agree that using a wireless keyboard and mighty mouse are must-haves... at least in my studio. They allow me to work at my piano and control Logic from a distance (I don't like assigning MIDI commands, outside of my control surface). However, I do with that Logic would recognize the presence of a Mighty Mouse and allow assigning the remaining button presses to other features in Logic, like showing the floating toolbox while the right-click handles the contextual menus.

  • Usb midi driver for older Edirol sk-500 keyboard for use in Intel Mac Pro

I have just moved to an Intel Mac Pro from my old G4 Power Mac. I was using a Edirol (Roland ED) SK-500 usb midi controller in both Garageband and Logic. The old driver doesn't want to work in the new Intel machine. Checked Edirol's site and didn't find anything newer to use and nothing that addressed the Intel situation explicitly.
Does anyone have a newer compatible driver or some other solution for this issue?
    Thanks,
    Gord
    Intel Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Xeon, 2 gig ram, 1.2 terabyte storage Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    intel mac pro 2 x 2.66 xeon, 2 gig ram, 1 terabyte storage   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

SK-500 is a discontinued product and I do not think Edirol will ever release a Universal Binary driver. I'd suggest you sell it, and buy their PCR-M50/80 keyboard (these are awesome) or if you also want sounds, get the Roland Juno-G synth (128 voices polyphony, 1000+ sounds, full-blown synth and 5 effects processors). All these work as USB MIDI controllers with Universal Binary drivers.

  • Installing Appletalk capability into XP machine for use with Apple LWIIg

My problem is one of translation.
I have downloaded the information on what files to extract from Windows NT 2000 for transfer to Windows XP. However, I have run into a problem. The instructions for insertion of the control files all refer to folder names like C:\Windows\Windows(NT)\ some file name.
I have searched my C: drive and have not found any folders that have the specified path. I even created the folders, but that did not work either. My LW still does not show up as an option when installing a printer.
    So what is the key?

I believe I found this in the Apple Archieve. Here is
    the original text:
"To install AppleTalk protocol to Windows XP
Required files: (Get them from any system running
    Windows 2000 Professional or Server)
    netatlk.inf, sfmatalk.sys, sfmmon.dll, sfmatmsg.dll,
    sfmwshat.dll, sfmpsprt.dll
If they can not be found you need to unhide hidden
    and system files.
Copy the files to their respective places:
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\INF\netatlk.inf
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\sfmatalk.sys
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmatmsg.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmmon.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmwshat.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRTPROCS\W32X86\sfmpsp
    rt.dll
AppleTalk Protocol should now be available under the
list of Protocols you can add in Network Connections
    - Local Area Connections Properties
This is only good using AppleTalk printers attached
to the network. The AT printer will show up, if it's
turned on, under Add Printer-Local printer attached
to this computer - create a new port - AppleTalk
    Printing devices.
    For more info see:
    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windo
    ws/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/sagadd_appletalkport.mspx
(you do not need to capture the port for the printer
    to work)
If you can not get acess to these files list an email
address and I will send them to you."
The link provides the info on setting up the printer
    port in Windows.
I will try your fix out tonight, and let you know if
    it works with SP2.
    Thanks for the info.
I would very much like these files if you are willing to send them on…
    TIA

  • My Deskjet 3050 J610 will not connect to my Virgin WiFi router for use with Apple Mac laptop.

I live in the UK and have Broadband access via a Virgin connection and WiFi router. My Apple MacBook laptop connects to the WiFi with no difficulties. However I have an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer which will not connect to the router. When I try to connect, the blue light just keeps on flashing but a connection is not found. Consequently my MacBook cannot "see" the printer on the network. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    See if this helps.

  • Can the new iPhone allow landscape/ horizontal keyboarding for text/ email?

One of the things that made me stay with Blackberry was that it was clearly better at typing text and emails. I chose not to buy the original iPhone based on the difficulty of typing text and email in only a portrait/ vertical setting.
Viewing horizontal/ landscape web pages is available - what I would like to know is if horizontal typing for text and email will be a feature?

We will more than likely see when it comes out and we get to play with it. "Small" features like this usually don't get much airtime during a keynote, but it would be nice to see, I hope it's there.
Maybe a mag will do a report on it before we get it.
Thanks for your response. Its too bad everything is so hush hush. It would be nice to see a spread on any new features or enhancements. Hopefully before the actual hands on experience.

  • Anyone know a fully functional PC layout keyboard for use with Mountain lion 10.8.3?

Hi, I'm currently switching between a PC laptop and a Mac mini desktop and I'm always typing the wrong keys as some are in different places on the different keyboards.  For example " is where @ is.  I'd really like a keyboard with a PC layout where Mountain Lion will recognise and respect the PC layout.  I've heard many models of PC keyboard are compatable with Mac but not fully functional and don't recognise that the keys are in different places (for instance Microsoft 800 Wireless desktop).  I wondered if anyone knew of a PC keyboard which was fully functional?  Thanks.

My old Brother printer has churned out 60,000 pages and is still going strong. And it has worked without problems on every OS version since 10.4. That model is no longer being sold, but i would recommend the Brother brand without reservation.
