Friends,
Need your advise urgently.Please help us with ur suggestions.
We have installed SAP Netweaver 2004s in Dev server.
Currently we are planning to create three clients in that server and do the client copy.
client 222 for Dev
client 333 for Sandbox
client 444 for QA
Is that possible to have three clients for BW7.0 in same Server?.or we need to have different servers for Dev,Sandbox and QA?
Please advise the right landscape for Netweaver 2004s..

Hi Guru's,
I have two systems ECC 6 and Netweaver2004s.For BI7.0 in Netweaver2004s i want to Extract the data from ECC6 into Netweaver2004s BI 7.0.
1.How can i make ECC6 as a Source System for the Netweaver2004s.
2. In Netweaver2004s for BW 3.5 i am getting the Administrator Workbench but objects are still showing the 7.0 properties. How can i over come this issue.
Kindly help me out on this issues.

Hello Prem,
1. Basically Tcode RSA1 - Modeling - Source Systems - right click the "Source Systems" on the right - Create - Automitically create SAP system
2. Haven't heard of BW 3.5 based on NW 2004s... Please check the release of BI_CONT component from menu System - Status - Component info. Likely you find 7.0.x instead of 3.5.x

Really thanks for your instructions. We have enabled hte "refresh on individual workbooks" in the workbook settings tab adn we are able to see the same in the context menu of the analysis grid.
Again i have few doubts.
I can able to see two options as below.
1. Refresh
2. Refresh this query.
What is the difference between this two?. Also when i click the "refresh this query" it shud display the "selections screen of the particular query", But it is not at all showing me a selection screen,
What i am doing is.. I am simply doing "refresh this query" option that will refresh my screen first adn i am doing change variables.
That will give me the selection screen of the particular query. If i am not doing so, all workbooks are refreshing,
Please advice, whether selection screen of the particular query can be shown when clicking "refresh this query".

Suggestion weather to go for BI7 or not

hai we are planning to use BI7.0.But it is said tat BI7.0 supports excell 2003 but not excell2000.
The problem is that all our core data is in excell 2000 so can anyone give a suggesion wat to do .
Can we go for BI7.0?

What would be the pro and cons if i would go for BI 7.0 SP09
Is there any issue with data loads and BEx queries if we go for BI 7.0 SP09.
For one week we will go for BI7.0 SP09(BI 7.0 Support Stack 09) and later we would go for BI 7.0 SP15.

1. Data flows do not need to be migrated into the 7.x fashion specifically but it is advisable.
2. no idea
3. Old Authorization concept of the BW 3.X is not longer supported. Before 7.3 upgrade you have to migrated to new concept.

What is the latest SP for BI7.0 AIX server

Now I am using SAP BI7.0 with SP14 and my Operating System is IBM AIX5.1 and 590.
Now I am planning to up grade my SP14 to higher version. I am checking in Service market place I am able to see till SP18. But I am confused that till how many SPu2019s are compactable for IBM AIX servers.
Any one can help me out, how many up graded SPu2019s are there till now to up grade my BI7.0 server.

Support packs are OS-independent.
As part of Support pack stack, you need to upgrade your Kernel version also. Kernel is having DB/OS dependent as well as independent files.So just check which kernel is recommended in SP stack & do the kernel upgrade as per your OS & DB configuration.
SP upgrade is as usual. You can go ahead.
I checked latest SP stack for NW 7.0 is 16.

ECC Client for BI7

Hello guys,
I have couple of questions/confusion regarding ECC (source system) connection for New BI7 system.
We used to BW3.5 system and the Source System/R3 Client we were using was lets say ABCLNT80.So that means there was no RFC connection issues between these systems. Now we have a new System also, BI7 , and it has been configured to connect with different Source Client/R3 ..XYZCLNT700.
So, does this mean that i can no longer use my previous Source Client ABCLNT80 to send replicate DS to new BI7. do I have to access this new Source Client XYZCLNT700 as a Source system which has a RFC connected established already? if so , would I supposed to have new Configuration/log in information for this Source Client or i can use old ones? because it seems Client # with new one seems to be changed. I am really confused with this , please give me some hints on how these work.

Hi,
I think you'll have to create a new RFC connection for the new system. This is a basis job. So contact your basis team,they should help you with this.

In Spain there's a law for Protecting personal data. SAP has developed some objects in Business content to accomplish this Law. We cannot find any documentation about the model created for SAP. I checked the OSS Notes, but there are to simply and not provide information about the model.

BEA Liquid Data for WebLogic is replaced by BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform.
My project contains "urn:com-bea-ide:project.type:LiquidData", and there's LiquidDataControl.jar in the Library, so I guess it is developed by Liquid Data Control.
If I install BEA AquaLogic Data Services Platform, can the Platform recognize the project correctly?
As I can't find BEA Liquid Data for WebLogic installer now.
And can you simply explain to me that what's the relationship between ALDSP/Liquid Data for Weblogic and SDO?

Transport request for BI7 Prodcution to BI7 development

Hi,
I have a scenario where previous team has done direct changes into cube(and dataflow before). these changes are not available in development. Now i need to work on this cube. So I want to know below.
1. Is it possible to create transport request in BI Production and then transport it to BI dev server?
2. Is there any thing special to create transport request in Production ?
3. What are the challenges involved into this process.
Can some one please guide me !

Its not good practice to create the transport request in the Production system.Do the required changes in the development system and capture the changes in the transport request and release the transport requests into Production system.
If you do the changes for BW objects in the Production Box it wont give good impression to the Cliend as well as it was very risky.
My advise is what ever the complexity and difficulties come across in development system. In production system it become very complex.

What is the equivalent selection in BI7? (Following BW 3.5 How to...Set up BW Statistics)
I am trying to install BW statistics and all the good things that come with it for BI7. Following the instructions in a document that I was directed to on this site, in SBIW, I installed and replicated all the datasource in under TCT tree (Technical content)
The instruction is for versions prior to BI7 and I had to make modifications as I go.
Now, this instruction direct me to go to:
rsa1, Bi Content (left) and then InfoProviders by InfoAreas and select all InfoProviders for the InfoAreas BW Statistics and BW Metadata under the node Technical Content.

In BI7, there is no BW Statistics and BW Metadata infoareas under Technical Content if I follow the directions strictly.
What is the equivalent of this in BI7?
2.
In the instructions, the author continues to collect these InfoAreas from under Technical Content:
BW Data Slice
BW Features characteristics
BW Metadata
BW Statistics
In BI7, do we need exactly these? Or, now different? Should I just transfer all the infoareas under Technical Content? What is the disadvantage of collecting a ALL?

You can find this information on https://service.sap.com/bi -> BI Content -> BI-Extractors-Plug-in. There you can find which plug-in version is recommended for each R/3 release.
R/3 v. 3.1I or greater is supported by SAP NetWeaver 2004s Business Intelligence.
