Language of lightroom

how do i change the language on my product in my cart to english instead of dutch?

Hi,
I assume you are trying to purchase English version of Lightroom instead if Dutch from Adobe.com.
If thats the case, then you may first navigate to the Adobe Lightroom product Page - http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html
Then, on the right side, you may first need to click on the "Purchase" button and then select the type of license i.e. Full / Upgrade and also choose the language from the list of options available (see screnshot below).
Let me know if this answers your questions.

Sharad

  • Setting Language in Lightroom 2.5 to english not possible

    Hi,
Just downloaded Lightroom 2.5 on my Mac (OS 10.6) and found out, that I cannot change the language to english like in the previous versions of Lightroom. It automatically switched to German (language of my OS).
There is no possibility to set the language with Cmd + I for that application.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks...

I had a similar problem. I got Dutch Lightroom menus were I expected English. I have an English Windows Vista and I usually prefer English menus. I have found a solution for the problem:
    - Uninstall Lightroom
    - Go to the Control Panel of Windows and select "Regional and Language Options"
    - Set Location to "United States"
    - Set "Current format" to "English (United States)"
    - Reinstall Lightroom
    - Go back to Control Panel and reset the options to your original values

  • LR 4.2 - alternative 'zoom in' shortcut?

    Hello,
I'm experiencing an issue with the 'zoom in' shortcut in LR 4.2.
Officially the 'zoom in' shortcut is supposed to be "Crtl+=", but I can't type this directly, as the equal is on top of the zero on my (german) keyboard, i.e. in order to type an '=' I need to type 'Shift+0'.
But when I type 'Ctrl+Shift+0' nothing happens.
When I type 'Ctrl+0' the histogram collapses/expands (it toggles between the two).
I'm not sure whether on a US keyboard you can directly type the '=', but I have the feeling it's like that. So, is there an alternative to zoom in for foreign keyboards? (and: why is not the 'Ctrl+ +' being used as in the majority of other programs...?)
    Thanks,
    Plasma2k

    Hi,
I have had the similar problem, though with a Norwegian keyboard. The = is on "Shift+0" on a Norwegian keyboard as well.
I fixed this by applying a new keyboard shortcut for the zoom-in action in a rather cumbersome fashion.
By default, there are alternative keyboard mappings available if you are using a language specific version of Lightroom, either in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Portugese, Swedish, or Chinese, but no Norwegian.
If you're running with the German "language pack" the shortcuts for Zoom Out should be "Ctrl+#" in Develop Mode, and the default "Ctrl+=" in Library Mode.
This is all described in language resource files, one for each of the mentioned languages.
They are located under the language-specific directories (de, sp, fr, jp, and so on) in a Resources directory under the Lightroom program folder. In my case the Lightroom program folder is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.2\, since I'm running version 4.2 on Windows.
Since there's no Norwegian translation resources available for Lightroom I prefer running with the English version. There is no specific English resource file or folder, since English is the default language of Lightroom.
But you can make one. So I did!
I first created a new directory called "en" in the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.2\Resources\, then I put a text file called TranslatedStrings.txt in that folder with the following contents:
       "$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/ZoomIn/Key=Cmd+."
       "$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/View/ZoomIn/Key=Cmd+."
    Nothing more.
This overrides the keyboard shortcuts for Zoom In in Develop and Library Mode to "Ctrl+." and leaves all the other shortcuts as the default shortcuts in the program.
(It says Cmd since that's the name of the Ctrl key on Apple OSX, I guess). The "." key is right next to the "-" key on a Norwegian keyboard, and has not been used for any other shortcuts in the English language version of Lightroom as far as I know.
If you're using the English version of Lightroom you could do this to any other shortcut that you would like to change as well. Look at some of the other TranslatedStrings.txt files in the Resource folder of another language to learn the identity (e.g. $$$/AgDevelop/Menu/View/ZoomIn/Key=) of the shortcuts you'd like to change.
If you're running Lightroom in one of the other supported languages, just change the corresponding TranslatedStrings.txt file of that language. Make sure you create a backup copy of the file before modifying it.
When you install a new version of Lightroom you must remember to copy the file to the new installation, typically C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3\ for version 4.3 and so on.
    Good luck! Hope it helps.

  • Language change after update to Lightroom 3.2! Help asked!

I use Lightroom from the first version and love to work with it. I always work with the English version of it - for several reasons - even when my Windows XP version is in Dutch.
By upgrading to Lightroom 3.2 I selected the English language. After the update my version of Lightroom 3.2 however was in Dutch. I tried to change that to English following the help file, but that does not work
This unwanted change gives me a lot of trouble now as I normally import my pictures with a filename in the date-number format. But the date format in the Dutch version is day-month-year, as I however want to use - and used for over 50.000 pictures!!! - the year-month-day format. I had no trouble with it in Lightroom 3.0. My trouble began after updating to Lightroom 3.2.
Can anyone help me here, as I cannot import pictures I made in the right format now!!!

Well, the quick summary that you are not going to like: This system is pretty short on RAM and processor power, your graphics driver is outdated and you are using two screens with different resolutions, which eats up all graphics acceleration plus your card has only 256 MB of VRAM in the first place, which doesn't meet the requirements. You will never be able to use 3D under those conditions.

  • Lightroom 3 does not offer a choice of language for the trial download

I have downloaded the trail version Lightroom 3. Although my computer is in French, I wanted to download the English version of the software. All the tutorials and the literature are in English.
I tried three times but every time, it did not offer me a choice of language for the trial version and downloaded the French version everytime.
Can anyone help solve this problem for me?

I just checked Adobe's trial download and I was offered many different languages for the trial download.
The language choice is on the webpage before you click on <Download>.

  • Lightroom 5 language suddenly switched to dutch, won't switch back

    Hey,
Lightroom 5 today suddenly switched to dutch, even though in teh preferences screen it's still set to english. I can't find a way to switch it back to english. It seems to have done this after I installed the app manager update (which quite frankly is pretty horrid now).
Anybody happen to know how to get lightroom back to english? I don't want to have to relearn all these technical terms.
    Regards,

I had the same issue on windows 7. I resolved it by moving the preferences file to desktop, setting lightroom language to auto, close lr, restart, set to english, restart.... issue resolved. If lr prompts to upgrade your catalog you've already upgrade, just move the rpefs file back to it's location (C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences). Hope this helps.
