Language Property of KM Repository Manager Node

Hi Community,
i developed a Custom Repository Manager based on the Tutorial form the Code Samples Section.
I have a question regarding to the language of the TREX Search Results. Everything works fine, but the results have some strange languages. I have a german Site wich has the Langugage catalan. I think the Trex decides automatically which langugage the content has.
How can i set the language-attribute in my Repository Manager manually? I tried to set the langugage to German by using the following in the function getProperties in the Node-Class:
SystemPropertyFactory.createContentLanguageProperty("de").
is that the right way?

Hi,
in order to re-read the config when it is changed you have to implement <b>IConfigListener</b> interface. See my reply in this thread:
<a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=99794">Re: How to read a file(Propeties files) from a respository service - IConfigListener</a>
But I'm not sure that also works effectively with repository managers.
For more info just let me know,

  • Language Issue in Repository Manager and T-REX

    Hi Everybody,
    we are trying to implement a repository manager for SAP KM. Our systems stores documents language specific in a database. Now we are wondering how we should create a view to the documents, so that every document in each language is indexed by T-REX correctly. Lets say the internal view is something like this:
       /Documents
          ->File.pdf
      /Images
          ->Image.jpg
    In this case File.pdf and Image.jpg can exist in different languages. So our question is, does T-REX create an index for each language available in the portal? If so, which would be very nice, how can we get the current language T-REX is using for indexing within our RM implementation?
    Otherwise we have to create virtual TOP-Level laguage folders for each language in our database that would look like this
    /de
       /Documents
          ->File.pdf
      /Images
          ->Image.jpg
    /en
       /Documents
          ->File.pdf
      /Images
          ->Image.jpg
    We try to avoid this, since File.pdf ist a single item with different language versions.
    Does anybody know the best way to solve this?
    Kind Regards,
    Ali

    Hi Matthias,
    I think the language handling and the mapping of default languages is application specific and should be done within the RM. In our case this available allready, since our WCMS system allready take care about that... So for a logged in user, we are able to create a language specific folder structure very nicely.
    Our problem is the indexing by TREX. We wan't to make sure that every language version of the docment can be found when people searching. So in our case the perfect solution would be that TREX asks the RM for available languages in the repository and starts a crawler for each language available in the repository.
    Something that I am not sure about is the presentation of the search results. Since the URL of the search result might point to a different language version than the logged in user has. So if the URL is
    http://server/irj/go/km/repsotory/Documents/File.pdf
    this might result to a german document, even if the searched term is in the english document. So the language must be set in the search result. For example like this
    http://server/irj/go/km/repsotory/Documents/File.pdf?locale=en
    This would be our preferred way to handle this issue. I think we will keep the virtual language folders until the new feature is available.
    Thank you guys for this very high quality answers )
    Kind Regards,
    Ali

  • Problem with CM repository manager

    Hi
    I am trying to access the documents of file server with CM Repository manger(FSDB).The Current portal version is EP6 SP15.I did configuration for production,Development system.i did exactly same.but it is not working in Development system.i created Network path,cache,CM Repository Manger.where should i see the log file to check the error?
    While Configure CM repository manager,there is no property to specify DB Connectionpool parameter?
    but it is working fine in production system,but not in Development System.
    i selected Auto Checkin/checkout parameter while creating CM repository manager.where should i need to check weather this is working or not?
    i am not able to see the /etc folder in case of development system ,but able to see in production system?
    can anybody helpme out in this regard?

  • File Repository Manager

    Hi all,
    I have created a file repository manager.
    I have done the following settings for creating a file repository manager:
    Active   :checked
    Hide in Root Folder: not checked
    Send Events :checked
    Property Search Manager  : not set
    Repository Services   : not set
    ACL Manager Cache   : ca_rsrc_acl
    Security Manager   : W2kSecurityManager
    Description
    Prefix (must start with /) : /demo
    Windows Landscape System   : Microsoft_Windows_KM
    Read-only   : not checked
    Lookup mode : caseless
    Read-only Content Expiry Delay:
    Root Directory:
    132.186.124.207\calender
    Even after restarting the server, a folder by name calender is not being created in the root in KM content.
    What could be the reason?
    thanx and regards,
    anuradha.

    Hi Anuradha,
    The root in KM Content will have a folder by the name <i>demo</i>(value of property <i>Prefix</i>), not <i>calendar</i>.
    BTW I recommend you don't change the prefix to <i>/calendar</i>... as the CalendarRM uses that prefix and so a clash could occur!
    Regards,
    Ashish.

  • Viewing language property on PDF document (508 compliance)

    I'm currently working on a content management system that produces some PDF files to be published to external web sites. These PDF files have to be 508 compliant and one of the requirements listed by the user group is to have a Language set on the document.   Using iText I'm setting the language property to the corresponding locale and I can see the value set on an editable dropdown on my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, so far so good. Problem is, I cannot see the language code value when viewing properties on any given document on Adobe Reader.
    I checked the Adobe Reader 508 compliance overview document and there is no mention of document properties such as language so I'm guessing language does not get displayed on Adobe Reader?  It isn't obvious to me why showing the language code value on the document properties would be an accessibility requirement but I just need to double check.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I am having the same problem-I have several papers due by Friday and so
    far this is my only hang up!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Unable to create File System Repository manager

    Hello,
    I would like to create File System Repository manager to this path: I have mapped a certain Network drive "
    main-uni-fs1\pictures$" to the Portal Machine and under this machine it appears as drive "N:\", inside it there is a picture folder which I would like to create the mapping to. I tried setting the "Root Directory" value to "N:\" and to "
    main-uni-fs1\pictures$" but I keep receiving an error message at the Repository Component Monitor (see below).
    10X,
    Roy

    Hello Roy,
    1> Create a new path that points to the pictures directory on the system. Enter the path lik
    mypc.myorg.com\pictures
    Under Sys admin -> Sys Config -> KM -> Content MGT -> Global Services -> Network path
    Under the user name and password, enter your username and password
    username whould be entered like domainname\username
    2>Then create a system in for the mypc.myorg.com server under
    Sys admin -> Sys Config -> KM -> Content MGT -> Global Services -> System landscape definitions -> System -> Windows Sytem.
    (Assuming u are acessing a windows sytem from a portal running on windows platform).
    You need to enter system id and description . Kindly remember the system id, since it would be useful in two places while usermapping and creating the file system repository.
    3>create a file system rep mgr under
    Sys admin -> Sys Config -> KM -> Content MGT -> Repository Managers > File System Repository
    Following properties are most important.
    Name , ACL manager cache, Security manager(which you would have to set to W2kSecurity manager)
    prefix(this is the folder name that you will identify your repository with) Widws landscape System (this is the sytem id of step 2) and root directory (network path of first step only in this case enter it like this //mypc.myorg.com/pictures)
    4>Then under user mapping section, you will find you system (the system id of second step) , enter your name as password.
    Initially when you configure your rep manager, you dont need to start ur servlet engine. If you modify any property then you need to re start ur servlet engine.
    These are the steps for creating repository
    If this still does not get resolved. Then kindly read the limitations of creating the file system repository manager in the link that I had posted in my earlier post.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Help needed: Search function for custom Repository Manager

    Hi there,
    i'm writing my own Repository Manager for EP 6.0 SP2 PL4.
    I've serious problems getting the search function running. I'm using the 'new', Netweaver-based API.
    I think, there are some general questions to answer:
    - My Repository Manager exposes lots of custom
       properties to the system. I create the properties
       for example using following code:
       IProperty newProp = new StringSingleValueProperty(
         PropertyName.getPropertyName(
                  "{}" + myAttName),
         myAttVal,                         PropertyFlags.constructFlags(
                  true, false, true, false)
        Is there any convention for the propertie's name?
        I think it has to be written in lowercase only?
        Can I use ANY namespace I want instead of the
        empty default namespace? (For example:
    - After indexing my resources (of course, containing my
       custom properties), the TREX-Monitoring screen for my
       index shows all my custom properties in the 'Document
       Properties' area, but all uppercase chars are escaped
       somewhat. Is this OK?
    - Trying to use the index above to search for particular
       resources in my repository by my custom properties
       fails all the time ('no docs found...'); searching for
       any system property works fine. What's the reason?
    - How can I force the (Property-) search uses my
       custom namespace-manager's methods
       isQueryPropertyNameUnderstood() and
       getQueryBuilder()
       to perform a 'pure' property search by the repository
       manager? It seems that the TREX always handles the
       queries by itself, because my methods are never called.
    Thanx for you help,
    Daniel

    I created a new manager and copied the classes exactly from the "simple" example and I see similar behavior. Actually, when I do this, folders are recursively copied, but not files. Again, browsing and viewing of files work fine. Again, I am not seeing any unexpected exceptions.
    The only thing that changed were the names and namespaces. Nothing else at all was changed.
    This makes me think I am missing some configuration somewhere or there is something special about the example project that the wizards are not creating. The only difference I see in the project file is an additional nature (com.tssap.selena.cmf.PatternNature), but I am not sure that is relevant.
    Wow, I am really stumped.

  • DB type repository manager for information broadcasting?

    I read some article which says only FSDB type of repository manager can be used for BI informaiton broadcasting. I want to broadcast to MOSS server, which uses IIS, but stores everything in database. Is there anyway to use DB or WSDL type repository manager for broadcasting?
    Thanks
    Jane Zhou

    Where did you get this information from? Is there any document that states that? Below is the information I got, it says FSDB has to be used:
    Can I use information broadcasting to distribute precalculated queries, Web applications, and workbooks to a third-party file server, Web server or document management systems?
    Yes. With information broadcasting, you can precalculate queries, Web applications, and workbooks and publish them into the Knowledge Management of the SAP NetWeaver Portal.
    In KM, you can easily create a Repository Manager (CM repository with persistence mode FSDB) that is attached to a file system directory (for example, the directory of an Internet Information Server (IIS)). You have to create a link in the KM folder of documents to the folder of the CM Repository attached to the file system or you can define your CM Repository as an entry point in KM. For more information, see SAP Note 827994 (SMP login required).
    Information broadcasting can automatically put a new report on the third-party file server (for example, using the data change event in the process chain). KM offers repository managers for many different file servers, Web servers, and document management systems (such as IIS and Documentum):
    1.                            Create CM Repository attached to file system.
    2.                            Use iView KM Content to create subfolder in file system (optional).
    3.                            Set permission to Administrator (optional).
    4.                            Create link in /documents to folder of CM Repository attached to file system or define CM Repository as entry point. (See SAP Note 827994.)
    5.                            Schedule Broadcasting Settings that export to a linked folder of CM Repository.
    Because documents created via Information Broadcasting have additional attributes attached to them which mark them as broadcasted documents, it is not possible to store these kind of documents in a "pure" file system repository because such a repository usually only stores properties like "last changed", "creator", etc. Fortunately, KM provides a mechanism to nevertheless use a file system repository to store the documents. The additional properties will be stored in the database. Details are given here and here.
    The "persistence mode" of the repository must be "FSDB" to allow this kind of behavior. Please note that because of the distributed storage of file and additional properties, the property assignment will be lost when moving around the document in the file system using some non-KM tool like windows explorer.

  • CM Repository Manager

    Hello,
    I tried to set up a CM Repository Manager in FSDB mode to connect to a file system. I went through the steps of this blog <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a0449c90-0201-0010-7590-dd30845754ef">https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a0449c90-0201-0010-7590-dd30845754ef</a> but I can't see in KM-Content my created repository. Any suggestions?
    Note: I don't want to use a file system repository!
    Best regards,
    Denis

    Hi Senthil,
    > Yes , after creating Repository you have to Restart
    > ur Server its necessary. You wont get any meaasge for
    > restart. Try this it will appear.
    That's not correct! When you first created a new repository with correct parameters, the repository framework will recognize it and show it under /root. Only if you change some parameters in the Repository Manager configuration you will need a restart to see the changes. The relevant parameters are marked with a special symbol. For example if you change the "Windows System Landscape" value, you would need a J2EE restart.
    Denis,
    >1. Repository ID in Database: I don't know what to type here.
    >Can I type anything I want?
    Yes (no special characters of course), but it's important that you use a unique name, as stated in the Weblog.
    >2. Windows Landscape System: In the blog there is mentioned, that I have to specify
    > the network path. As far as I know, File System Repositories have the same property.
    > But I have to enter my Windows System here, not the network path.
    The parameter is used if you want to integrate a file system and you want to use the permission from the file system in the portal. For that you have additionally to select W2kSecurityManager for the Security Manager parameter. In this parameter filed, you have to type the System ID, that you have defined in the [url=http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c2/88e3d471640f43b3e81608b8c3b2e9/content.htm]Windows System Configuration[url].
    If you don't want to use the permissions from the file system, you should only need to specify the Root Directory for example like this: "//myserver/myshare/somedir".
    Hope this helps,
    Robert
    PS: Again, if you do now changes in the available Repository Manager configuration, you  need a restart. If you duplicate the configuration settings, and create a new repository (with different ID) you should see it without a restart!

  • Web Repository Manager and robots.txt

    Hello,
    I would like to search an intranet site and therefore set up a crawler according to the guide "How to set up a Web Repository and Crawl It for Indexing".
    Everything works fine.
    Now this web site uses a robots.txt as follows:
    <i>User-agent: googlebot
    Disallow: /folder_a/folder_b/
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /</i>
    So obviously, only google is allowed to crawl (parts of) that web site.
    My question: If I'd like to add the TRex crawler to the robots.txt what's the name of the "User-agent" I have to specify here?
    Maybe the name I defined in the SystemConfiguration > ... > Global Services > Crawler Parameters > Index Management Crawler?
    Thanks in advance,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
    I'm sorry but this is hard coded. I found it in the class : com.sapportals.wcm.repository.manager.web.cache.WebCache
    private HttpRequest createRequest(IResourceContext context, IUriReference ref)
            HttpRequest request = new HttpRequest(ref);
            String userAgent = "SAP-KM/WebRepository 1.2";
            if(sessionWatcher != null)
                String ua = sessionWatcher.getUserAgent();
                if(ua != null)
                    userAgent = ua;
            request.setHeader("User-Agent", userAgent);
            Locale locale = context.getLocale();
            if(locale != null)
                request.setHeader("Accept-Language", locale.getLanguage());
            return request;
    So recompile the component or changing the filter... I would prefer to change the roberts.txt
    hope this helps,

  • Web repository manager

    Hi,
    I am working with NW04S.
    I am facing 2 issues which are related with the web repository manager.
    1. When we create a web repository manager, we must be able to see it under content management->KM content. When we choose the web repository, we should be able to see the link of the website that we configured.
    The issue that I am facing is that I am unable to see this link although my web repository manager is seen in the KM content.
    I am able to the see the links for the web sites in the web repository managers that I had created previously.
    I have done all configurations according to the config guide. I have created html system, website, html property extractor, cache and then web repository manager.
    2. When I went back to check how I had configured the older web repository managers, I found that only the ones that I created recently were present. Very old ones were missing. But these are visible under KM content.
    Is there some place where these are archived?
    Could you please help me with this?
    Best Regards,
    Vidhya

    Hi,
    I checked some other posts on the forum and found that i had to check the component monitor. i did so.

  • How to develop repository manager with initial folder structure

    Hi 2 all!
    I wonder if it is possible to create new repository programmatically with defined folder structure. I'm interested in solutions when repository manager is works with db or file system. Can you provide any example or tell me where can I define my structure?
    thnx

    Hi Nata!
    Basicly this task consists of two steps:
    1. Deploy a new configuration object for the repository manager
    2. Create the intial folder structure
    Step one is simple. Here is the configuration object of the repository manager for /documents. It's been exported from the KM configuration by using the standard export mechanisms. This can be included into a portal application project in Netweaver Studio.

    This is a DB repository. The config object for a filesystem repository might differ.
    Step 2, the creation of the initial file structure may be done with in two different ways:
    a) Include a Repository Service with your repository, which creates the folder structure on the first access of your repository.
    b) Include a Portal app which has to be called once to create the folder structure.
    For more info about using the API to create km folders take at look at this:

  • Design Considerations for a Repository Manager in a clustered environment

    Hi,
    I am currently building a repository manager for a backend document management system.  Our portal is installed in a load balanced clusterd environment and we are creating the following functionality in the repostiory manager -
      -  Browse content
      -  Read/Write document Metadata
      -  Upload/download documentation
      -  Reserve/Unreserve documentation
      -  Search
    How will a clustered environment affect the implementation of the repository manager?  Would I need to check for a clustered installation in any kind of way in my code?  Currently I do not see why this would be necessary, but i'm not entirely sure and I need this manager to work in a clustered environment.
    I could see this as being an issue if we are caching information about the documents in the repository.  However, we are not.  We will only be caching user information which can be stored separately in a single cache on each server.
    Thanks for your help,
    Scott

    Hi Scott!
    There might be two reasons for knowing whether other cluster nodes are running or not and for communicating with them:
    - synchronizing access to the backend
    - synchronizing caches
    If your repository manager must care for serialized access to the backend you will have to synchronize cluster-wide. You don't have to, if your backend can handle parallel access on its own (like a web-server).
    If you cache data in your repository and you want to update the caches of the repositories on the other cluster nodes (maybe because you don't get events for changed data from your backend), you must think of sending messages between cluster nodes. You don't have to, if you think that the expiration of your cache entries is shorter than the required timeliness of the data.
    Kind Regards, Dirk

  • SOAP/Web service based repository manager

    Hi,
    We would like to implement a repository manager using SOAP/Web service messages to connect to the document store.  The solution will have to support most opperations as the WebDAV repository manager supports.  TREX has to be able to crawl for indexing/classification, but I guess that is not a problem.
    Is the some information out there on creating repository managers like this, and how they tie in with ACL managers, cahces etc?
