Language specific text extractions

Hello experts,
In a fresh BI system, if i have to extract data for 0customer_text for eg with language selection, what r the detailed steps for doing it?
the datasrc does not have a langu field. i want to extract only german records in BI? how do i enable this?
Similarly do i need to do this for all the other text datasrces which dont have langu field?
the configurations are done on a system with English language logon but the data to be extracted is in German!!
Detailed steps would be appreciated.
thnk you

Hi,
0CUSTOMER is not language dependent; it has only one text valid for any language.
In general, when your DSource doesn't have the language dependent field (SPRAS) your IObj texts will be language independent...
Independently of the logon language, the customer texts will show up....
hope this helps...
Olivier.

  • How do I surface language specific texts in Integrated ITS?

    Hello all,
    I'm new to both stand alone and integrated ITS and am researching the upgrade process. In our stand alone templates we used htrc files with our html templates to show language specific texts.
    Example.
    html template code for a field label
    `if (i==2) DETAIL-FLABEL[2]= #KAFN end`
    htrc name value pair
    z_pz01_en.htrc
    KAFN     Known As First Name
    z_pz01_de.htrc
    KAFN     Bekannt unter dem Vornamen
    I see no hint that htrc's can be used in integrated and am not seeing anything in the way of resource based language texts in integrated. I think I've hit every document out there yet, I have a feeling I'm missing something obvious. Your help is appreciated.
    Doug

    Edgar,
    Thanks so much for the detail!
    I have run through the steps for manual creation of translations as well as SIAC_UPLOAD of htrc files and have it working and documented. I will add a few more findings here for others who find this post later.
    Some of our old htrc files had duplicate keys (probably from original German version). In stand alone ITS the last key in the file was used so this didn't matter. In integrated ITS this matters for 2 reasons.
    1 Uploading/Converting htrc files having logged in in English will cause failures if any of the text being entered in the service parameters has characters that arent consistent with the codepage being used for EN. (Ex. back Azureück). Clean up htrc files to use only the language they should contain.
    2 Stand alone ITS was forgiving of htrc files containing duplicate keys. Integrated ITS is not. Remove all duplicate keys.
    3. This one is obvious but... if  parameters have already been entered in another language you may be prompted to confirm you are changing language and there are several prompts along the way. As these prompts will appear in the logon language itu2019s important to eitheru2026
    a. Be fluent in all supported languages , oru2026
    b. Memorize button and menu positions.
    I do have one additional question.
    Our old stand alone setup had an alternate corporate "APCI" design that we used...
    File system view -
    hostDEV_WWWmimesdesigns"apci"webgui as opposed to the out of box
    hostDEV_WWWmimesdesignssap_streamlinewebgui I suppose.
    I believe this was then referenced in the global services file ~DESIGN="APCI"
    I'm starting research to understand if there is an analog to this in the integrated webgui service or precisely what I have to do to accomplish alternate styles for webgui and our Z_services.
    Thanks again, points on the way, If I could award more I would.

  • Language specific text in 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN after sp8

    Hello SDN,
    After the application of sp8, we encounter a problem when we execute queries directly from the query designer (using standard template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN). The buttons on the second row (under the query name) have the following text:
    'Taalspecifieke text bestaat niet: TYPE=REP KEY1=SAPLRRSV KEY2=757 LANG='
    translated:
    'Language specific text does not exist: TYPE=REP KEY1=SAPLRRSV KEY2=757 LANG='
    The login is in Dutch. Before sp8 (with sp7), we didn't have a problem. I've alreade re-actived 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN from the business content, without results. Does anyone have a  solution for or experience the same problems?
    Greetz,
    Daniel

    Ben,
    Is it possible you did something else to solve this problem. We are still encountering it and SAP has been unable to identify any issues yet.
    I have installed Front end path 801 and 802. And this problem is still occuring.
    It doesnt seem to be front related though. I was just wondering if there is something you did as well that might have contributed to correcting this issue after installing SP8.
    Thanks

  • Language specific pop up

    hi all,
    i am sorry as  i havnt tried enough to search the solution in forum .. but can anyone let me know how to create a language-specific pop-up  in BSP ?

    Hi Shal,
    you can use the Online Text Repository to support language specific text fields in BSP.

  • 508- Document Properties - Disabled ..."All of the text on this page lacks a language specification"

    Hi,
    When i try to do 508 check. I got the following error message
    "All of the text on this page lacks a language specification'
    I checked "FILE=>Document Properties". All "Document Properties" are disabled.
    We are using Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2 to create this dynamic for and save it as static PDF file.
    Still, we have same issue. I am not sure, how to change or setup the language in adobe livecycle designer es2.
    thank you,

    Ah, I don't know that. "Tables" is a collection, not a simple array, and some careless experimentation shows that you cannot simply use .concat to paste them together.
    I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of workarounds for a situation like this. Perhaps it's time to read "[CS3][JS] everyItem() and getElements()" -- i.e. Marc Autret's blog posts about this, at the end of that thread.
    That is, if you stick to using everyItem()! Perhaps it's easier to build an array "the old fashioned way". This code is based on my earlier assumption you had textframes-in-textframes, but you can rewrite it to cater for groups as well:
    t = app.layoutWindows[0].activePage.textFrames.everyItem().tables;
    tableList = [];
    for (i=0; i<t.length; i++)
      tableList.push (t[i]);
    t = app.layoutWindows[0].activePage.textFrames.everyItem().textFrames.everyItem().tables;
    for (i=0; i<t.length; i++)
      tableList.push (t[i]);
    alert (tableList.length);

  • Search Help in Webdynpro displays specific text in German language

    We have created a custom search help which is being displayed using a custom Webdynpro application. We found that for this search help, although all other texts are displayed in English, a specific text ( 'Show filter criteria' ) is being displayed in German. Also, the same problem exists for search helps used in certain standard Webdynpro applications as well ( eg. WDT_FLIGHTLIST, TEST_DDIC ). Is there any SAP note to address this issue?

  • Language dependent texts in BI

    I have the following high level questions that we need answer as soon as possible, I would appreciate if anybody experienced in this area could give some high level asnwers as well as pointers to any relevant documenation.
    1. If source system is in a non-english logon (eg: Japanes), wil we see Japanese text automatically thru extractors in BI or do we need to do any setup in BI for extracting the text in Japanese.
    2. if source system is in non-english logon )eg: japanese), and we want english transation of the texts extracted, what do we need to do in BI.
    3. Role of unicode in all of the language related activites.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi,
    For role of unicode in all of the language related activites:
    To check if you have unicode system:
    Log onto your BW system.
    From the menu, go to System-->Status. A pop-up giving the system details will come up. There will be a section called SAP System Data. There is a field for Unicode system. If it reads "No", then you do not have a unicode system.
    If so, this then means you are on a single code page, i.e. the default code page, which handles English & German by default and other latin script languages (only when the respective language packs have been installed). If your source has languages other than the ones above, you will have problems extracting data.
    If you are non-unicode, and the language you are trying to pull data in is not English or German, then you will need to install the language pack (if it is handled by the default code page) or if the language is, say Russian, then you will need to install a code page that handles Cyrillic.
    BI 7, as a fresh install is done in unicode, whereas you did not have this in earlier versions and a decision could be made whether to go unicode or nonunicode.

  • HR-ABAP Language specific

    Hi Experts,
    I have created a custom infotype. Now I need to make it language specific as such, If logged in French language the lables and error messages should be in french and I created with English and should be applicable for both French and English as well.
    Regards,
    Srik

    Hi,
    The blank screen is ok...
    Now use the menu (example) -> Translation -> Short texts -> Screen painter -> Screen painter texts
    Enter the programname (should be something like MP999900 and the screen number) and translate the texts.
    Do this for all the objects you need translated.

  • LANGUAGE dependent TEXT data load to Infoobject

    Hi,
    We had Z infoobject with LANGUAGE dependent TEXT data.
    We had a Z table in ECC in which the Text data of the Z info object is maintained.
    Table Structure:
    ZObjects : Lanuage:1-Text : Lanuage:2-Text
    Now i created a data on the Z table and extracted data to PSA and sample data is like below
    KEY,English Text,German Text134,potato,Kartoffel
    145,chocolate,Schokolade
    150,biscuit,Keks
    Please update me how can i load this data as LANGUAGE dependent TEXT data of the Infoobject.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Maxicosi
    My understanding of the problem is you have text in english ( second field) and german ( 3rd field) while first field being the key.
    If m understanding is correct please read further.
    1. Your target InfoObject text table will have a structure like below
    Key Langu  Text
    2. Create one transformation Rule Group which will have mapping.
    Key ( DataSource)  to Key ( InfoObject Text Table)
                                       Langu ( "EN" as constant value)
    second filed   to   Short/Medium/Long text in (Text Table)
    3. Create another Rule Group which will have the mapping for German.
    Key ( DataSource)  to Key ( InfoObject Text Table)
                                        Langu ( "DE" as constant value)
    Third field   to  Short/Medium/Long text in (Text Table)
    Below how to document will give you an idea of Rule Group.

  • Language specific characters with JDBC

    Does anybody know how to insert language specific characters to Oracle tables using JDBC and without the overhead of unicode conversion back and forth?
    At the moment, all we can do is to convert those characters to unicode when inserting, and perform a reverse conversion when getting back from a resultset. This is cumbersome in large text data.
    Is there a way to configure the RDBMS and/or the operating system for this purpose? We are using Oracle 7.3.4 on Windows NT 4.0 SP5, Oracle JDBC Driver 8.1.6, and Java Web Server 2.0 (JDBC 1.0 compliant). Suggestions for Oracle 8.1.6 and Solaris 2.6 will also be appreciated.

  • Is there a way to make a checkbox cause specific text fields to be required?

    Ji everybody, I'm Trying to make this work. Its really the problem described in this thread:
    Is there a way to make a checkbox cause specific text fields to be required?
    But i cant bring it to work.
    ive attached a screenshot of my settings.
    any help is much appreciated!
    thx

    If the export value is not specified, it is by default set to "Yes" in the language of your version of Acrobat which can be quite annoying when you are creating a file using two computer that have different language settings.
    If the export value is not important to you, you should use the property called .isBoxChecked(0) instead of the value property.  It works the same way except it is boolean (true or false) .
    if (this.getField("myCheckBox").isBoxChecked == true){
         this.getField("textField").required = true;
    alternatively, there is a method called .checkThisBox() for manually checking boxes.
    this.getField("myCheckBox").checkThisBox(0, true) will check it while (0, false) will un-check it regardless of the export value.

  • Runtime.exec() with language specific chars (umlauts)

    Hello,
    my problem is as follows:
    I need to run the glimpse search engine from a java application on solaris using JRE 1.3.1 with a search pattern containing special characters.
    Glimpse has indexed UTF8 coded XML files that can contain text with language specific characters in different languages (i.e. german umlauts, spanish, chinese). The following code works fine on windows and with JRE 1.2.2 on solaris too:
    String sSearchedFreeText = "T&#252;r";
    String sEncoding = "UTF8";
    // Convert UTF8 search free text
    ByteArrayOutputStream osByteArray = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    Writer w = new OutputStreamWriter(osByteArray, sEncoding);
    w.write(sSearchedFreeText);
    w.close();
    // Generate process
    String commandString = "glimpse -y -l -i -H /data/glimpseindex -W -L 20 {" + osByteArray.toString() + "}";
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(commandString);
    One of the XML files contains:
    <group topic="service-num">
    <entry name="id">7059</entry>
    <entry name="name">T&#195;&#188;rverkleidung</entry>
    </group>
    Running the java code with JRE 1.2.2 on solaris i get following correct commandline
    glimpse -y -l -i -H /data/glimpseindex -W -L 20 {T&#195;&#188;rverkleidung}
    --> glimpse finds correct filenames
    Running it with JRE 1.3.1 i get following incorrect commandline
    glimpse -y -l -i -H /data/glimpseindex -W -L 20 {T??rverkleidung}
    --> glimpse finds nothing
    JRE 1.2.2 uses as default charset ISO-8859-1 but JRE 1.3.1 uses ASCII on solaris.
    Is it possible to change the default charset for the JVM in solaris environment?
    Or is there a way to force encoding used by Runtime.exec() with java code?
    Thanks in advance for any hints.
    Karsten

    osByteArray.toString()Yes, there's a way to force the encoding. You provide it as a parameter to the toString() method.
