Sridharb,
Thanks for the answer, we are using Arabic enabled Windows XP without any problem,
I should do supplement by the expert option…of SMLT---language-special actions…….>supplementation (expert)
I did with the supplementation (basic)
Please check my supplementation (basic) steps for the Client 100..
Let me know what other setting required from the front-end as well as language management…what should I do more to replace?????? Question mark and garbage data with English

    Hi,
set the NLS_LANG parameter and make sure the language supplement classes got installed when installing the deesigntime or server. If you need to change the language for runtime, set the value in the default.env file - assuming its a web based appication

  • Language Import problem

    Hello all,
We met a language problem after SMLT importing ZH language.
Our system is ECC 6.0 SR3, newly installed, support package level:
    SAP_BASIS    SAPKB70014
    SAP_APPL      SAPKH60011
after  installing, I import language from DVD 51033496_6, and then, I logon system with ZH language, most of the words are displayed as Chinese but strange is that some descritptions (when I click F4) are displayed as blank, function consultant said it should be displayed as normal. so, I'm confused wether there are some more language I need to import.
Currently in SMLT, under Chinese, there are two items:
    Imported packges:SAPKLZHM10
    Suplemented ith: ENGLISH
    I have following two questions:
    1. do I need to import anymore languae packages in order to display all chinese correctly?
    2. do I need to import netweaver lanuages? since some tcodes like DB02, SM37 are still in english
    3. is it obligatory to download othe language packages in solution manager? because I search "language neweaver" in service market place, but no record returned.
Thank you very much for all.
    Freshman

    Hello Freshman,
As you are running an ECC 6.0 SR3, you have used the correct language package to install ZH language (that is, package SAPKLZHM10 from DVD 51033496_6).
But installing the language package is just the first step that you have to perform when installing a new language in the system.
This is what you have to do next to complete the Chinese language installation:
    1. Install the language part of Support Packages.
If Support Packages have been applied into the system before installing ZH language, the texts in ZH included in those Support Packages are not available yet in your system. Therefore, you must proceed as follows:
SMLT --> single click on 'Chinese' to select it --> Language --> Special Actions --> Import Support Packages
a new screen will be displayed with all the Support Packages of your system. If any of them has a red light, it means that the ZH texts from that package are not in your system, so you have to click the 'Go to next screen' button. Now you will see a list with the Support Packages that had a red light in the previous screen; clicking again the 'Go to next screen' will start the import of the Chinese texts stored on those Support Packages.
    2. Now you have to supplement Chinese language with English in all the clients of the system, starting with client 000. In order to do it logon into client 000 and go to:
SMLT --> single click on 'Chinese' to select it --> Language --> Supplement Language
if a screen pops-up with information about the Secondary Language, just click 'Yes' to continue.
Write anything you want in the 'Description' field, leave the default options and click 'Execute' to start the supplementation.
Once that it finishes, do the same in all the other existing clients in the system.
    3. Finally, go to transaction SE38 and execute report RSTLAN20. In the selection screen that is displayed after executing the program select all the check boxes. It will refresh the language load from the buffers.
After that check the screens again, this time they should not be displayed as blank. Anyhow, if you have any problem update this thread and I'll have a look at it.
Regarding your second question about importing the netweaver language package, it is not needed. The language package for ECC 6.0 is enough. You must take into account that the degree of translation of Chinese is 0 (it can be seen in SMLT, double click in 'Chinese'). It means that SAP has only delivered some texts translated into Chinese, you cannot expect to have all the texts in the system in Chinese. For the languages with degree of translation lower than 2, most of the "technical" transactions (DB02, ST04, etc) are not translated and will be displayed in the supplementary language (English in your case).
And regarding the Solution Manager language package, in an ECC 6.0 system you don't have to install any Solution Manager language package.
But if you have a Solution Manager system, you must use the corresponding language package created for Solution Manager systems. Depending on your Solution Manager release, you have to use one of these DVD: (you will find all the information about which DVD and language package corersponds to each release in [SAP Note 330104|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/330104|Link to SAP Note 330104] )

  • Language Supplementation - Next Steps Help.

    Hello all,
I'm trying to figure out what other companies have done, or what other administrators would do, in this situation:
You are running SAP Enterprise SR1 extension set 110.  Your company acquires another foreign-language company (in this case French) that will be integrated into your English-speaking SAP system.  You install the language locales on your operating system, importing the new foreign language, supplement to your current support pack versions, and then supplement the language with English into your production client.  Now what?
How do you conduct the gap analysis to find out what key screens/tables don't have correct translations or any entry at all?  Is there any programs that do comparisons between screens and tables?
Is the only way to do a virtual user acceptance testing (UAT) period to run through all core transactions and scenarios in the new language to make sure that no gaps exits between English and the new foreign language?
We are struggling with the methodology and would appreciate any thoughts/feedback.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Change Secondary language to English

    Hi ,
I have English(EN) as the system language and German(DE) as the secondary Language in my development environment.
Also Norwegian(NO) language is installed for which supplementation language is English.
While logging in with NO and executing certain tcodes for example MM02 , I am getting a mixture of all three languages and no translation.
    Screenshot attached.
I would like to know if someone has encountered this scenario before and would be able to help with a solution.
Also most importantly, if I want to set the secondary language as english now, could I do the parameter change at any time and take a system restart or should it be done only while installing a new system  when there are no languages other than the ones delivered by SAP i.e. DE and EN.
    Thanks for your inputs.

    Hello
Supplementation and secondary language should be the same as stated in the here under note.
You should then change secondary language parameter to English (zcsa/second_languages = E), you will then get rid of the german texts.
Changing the secondary language parameter could be done at anytime, it just requires to restart the SAP instance.
To my knowledge running supplementation could only help if
    1) language installation/supplementation was done wrong (language imported after applying SP, or creating working clients from 000 or supplementation not done in client 000)
    2) you did import support packages and did not run supplementation again
    Best regards
1935497 - Process on how to finish a language import
3.Supplement the language with English or German. Keep in mind that supplementation must be done in all your clients, starting with client 000.
To do this, call the following menu option:Language->Supplement Language.Keep the default selection and execute it.
4.Once that you have supplemented the affected language, set the parameter zcsa/second_language to the supplemetary language, that is:
    A) If you have supplemented the language with English set the parameter
       zcsa/second_language to English  ( zcsa/second_language = E )
    B) If you have supplemented the language with German set the parameter
       zcsa/second_language to German  ( zcsa/second_language = D )
1156507 - Language supplementation, RSREFILL and client maintenance
    1.3. Secondary language
A disadvantage of the supplementation is that changes to texts in the supplementation language are not copied again to the language that is to be supplemented, because there is no longer any translation gap there since the first supplementation.  Therefore, the secondary language was introduced.
The secondary language mechanism ensures that the system displays missing screen texts, ABAP Dictionary texts and menu texts in the secondary language.  Therefore, these texts (tables D021T, DD04T and RSMPTEXTS) can be left out and are left out in a supplementation if the secondary language is the same as the supplementation language.  In this way, changes in the supplementation language also automatically take effect for the language to be supplemented.
Therefore, we recommend that the secondary language should be the same as the supplementation language.

  • System language change

    Hello,
I just want to ask if there is way to change standard system language. Now we have DE and supplementation is also DE. We want to change system language to EN and supplementation to DE.
    Thx.

    HI Jan,
    Use
Use the language supplementation function to fill in the gaps in a language that has not been translated completely.
Supplementation actions are client-specific. The languages are supplemented in the client in which you are logged on. If you use multiple clients, you must supplement the languages explicitly in each production client.
You can also access the texts stored in cross-client database tables from all clients simultaneously. The default setting specifies that cross-client tables are supplemented when you are logged on to client 000.
    Procedure
           1.      Go to the language that you want to supplement and choose  or Language ® Supplement Language.
           2.      On the next screen, enter a description of your supplementation. This helps you to recognize the supplementation you have started in the transaction SMLT overview.
           3.      In the center of the dialog box, enter the conditions for selecting the tables you want to supplement. These fields are set with SAP defaults that depend on the logon client, however, you can change them.
Client-specific Customizing tables are subject to special handling during language imports. This has resulted in the following supplementation strategies being created:
    ·         Combined with RSREFILL (standard setting when logging on to clients other than 000)
    ·         Combined with Client Maintenance
    ·         Supplement Only
For more information on these strategies, choose Information on Table Selection in the system, or see the section Customizing Tables.
           4.      Enter a start time and (optional) target server, and then you are ready to supplement the language by choosing Execute. This action schedules a background job that performs the supplementation.
           5.      The overview screen of transaction SMLT creates a supplementation entry for the appropriate language. Choose the corresponding icon to administer and monitor the supplementation.
The overview contains the following icons:
    Display supplementation log (in table)
    Display job information
    Display job log
Restart action, if it has terminated for technical reasons
           6.      The icon at the start of the line indicates the status of the import.
The icons have the following meanings:
The selected table was supplemented without errors.
There were warnings during the supplementation. You can analyze these warnings by displaying the supplementation log. To display the supplementation log, choose  or double-click the name of the supplementation action.
There were errors during supplementation. Analyze them as described above.
The action is scheduled. Choose  to display job information, such as the start time and target server.
    The action is currently running.
The action has terminated for technical reasons. To find out the cause of the error, see the job log (choose ).
           7.      The supplementation log gives you detailed information about the tables that have been supplemented.
Each line of the log contains the name, class, description, and other information about a supplemented table. The status, client, and supplementation mode appear first, followed by statistics about how many rows in the table have been processed, inserted, and modified. You can also see a return code.
All tables that have been processed fully are given a status based on the return code. This status is indicated by a green, yellow, or red light.
For information about the meaning of the return codes, display the F1 help for the return code (RC) column.

  • NLS problem in PDK v2

I've installed oc4j_extended, PDK v2 examples in Portal 3.0.9.8.2 with
    Russian Language Supplement.
    My DB LNS_CHARSET is CL8MSWIN1251.
NLS_LANG environment variable for starting Apache russian_cis.CL8MSWIN1251.
So Question: Why when i change portal language to Russian all localized messages
(like "Customize") in PDK v2 potrlet examples became ??????? in Netscape 4.7.
    Other portal portlets is Ok.
So more strange for me, IE and NS6 shows all characters correct.
    Any suggestion?
    Regards, Vladimir.

    Thanks for the assistance James.
I've look at the URL-based portlet "urlnls". Only one thing I understudy from example is using tag <charSet>iana_charset</charSet>.
As described in XML.TAG.REFERENCE.V2.XML.HTML this tag may be used with oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.RenderManager
and oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.http.FileRenderer. So I'll try change my portlet to RendererManager.
But ... what I can't understand, why I do need do this... I insert simple cod in existing portlet
    out.println("Current character set is \"" + pr.getURLCharSet() + "\"");
    Result right in all browsers.

  • ES menu item missing - SMLT problem

We found an R/3 system where when loggend on in ES a lot of menu entries appears in EN.
Our suspect is that the ES language has been imported on the system where Support Packages were already applyed and customer mandant already created.
According Oss note 533888, in the SMLT scren it seems to us it's missing the execution of reporty STLAN_IMPORT_OCS and the execution of the steps on the customer mandant.
As attempt to solve the problem of teh ES menù itme missing, we are in progress to apply Oss Note 533888 , part B).
According that note we think to run report RSTLAN_IMPORT_OCS in client 000 (step 2) and repeat the EN supplement (step 3).
Then to do the steps 5) and 6) in all the custimer mandant where we need to logon in ES.
    Our dubts are the followings:
    1) we do not know if report RSTLAN_SUPPLEMENT_PERIODIC is mandatory or not. After the execution of the step above , when we will apply further support packages the ES language will be fixed as well, so it's not claer what the report RSTLAN_SUPPLEMENT_PERIODIC is supposed to do
    2) we do not know if the language supplement with EN for the ES language can be repeated. We see it has been already performed in 000.
It's possible to repeat the language supplementation in client 000 more than one time for the same language ?
    thanks in advance

I believe the remote features only were available in later generations... Therefore I don't know if those editions know how to accept the watch/remote commands!

  • Entering and Displaying English and chinese

We are running Oracle 8i on a w2k server and have w2k clients
configured to enter and view English, Simplified and Traditonal
Chinese. Oracle is setup with UTF8. We atn to be able to enter
and display both english and chinese characters simultaneous in
the forms as we enter data as well as in reports. Everything is
done in Oracle forms/reports 6. I have tried various nls
settings but nothing seems to work to provide both entry and
viewing of the characters as well as providing properly
    formatted reports.
    Jim Liddil

I also have a customer that is having a similar problem. The
general issue is that the customer wants to use Win2000 in
English but within a Forms 6.0 application fill in certain fields
with Simplified Chinese characters. I think they had difficulty
getting it to work even if the default is all Chinese, that is
both the Windows locale default and the NLS settings. We're
mostly beyond that but the real goal is to allow the user to run
in English (but with language supplement support available for
Chinese) then when the user hits the appropriate fields in the
application he toggles to a Chinese characters to input. So we
can't seem to find the right combination of NLS settings,
patches, etc. that would support this.
At one point we apparently were able to have the application
accepting the Chinese characters but to do so meant that many of
the Oracle Forms default menu items, dialogue buttons and
message bar were displayed in Chinese.
The simplest explanation: allow to run Forms 6 app in English.
Allow storing of Chinese characters into fields at the will
of the user. Database stores characters correctly. Application
(Forms) echoes characters correctly , not ???? or boxes .
We need to have a definite answer to the customer within 2 weeks
meaning we either have a fix now for their current ISO 9000
certified application based on Forms 6.0 or we know through
testing that it absolutely will work when we rev. the application
to Forms 6i. The latter revision of their application is not due
    to ship until mid-2002.

    Hello,
I´ve installed Spanish Language in ERP 6.06, but some objects description aren't translated.
Supplementary language is English but this translations are in German.
What can I try or fix to recover to Spanish or English at least?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Ruben,
Are you on 7.10 or below then did you try using zcsa/second_language = E ?
Check the language supplementation in SMLT
SMLT - Language - Supplement Language

  • NLS_LANG VARIABLE

HELLO, I WANT TO KNOW IF IT IS RIGTH TO INSTALL DEVELOPER 6i ENGLISH VERSION AND SET ITS NLS_LANG VARIABLE = LATIN AMERICAN IN REGEDIT, OR INSTALL DEVELOPER 6i SPANISH VERSION AND SET ITS NLS_LANG VARIABLE = ENGLISH, IS THAT WRONG?. WHAT COULD IT HAPPENS?.
    THANKS.

    Juan,
make sure that you have installed the language supplement files for the language that you want to run your Fors in. This is what would happen:
    English supplement files installed
    a) NLS_LANG English --> Forms runs with english menu, showing the Forms labels in teh language that the developer created them
    b) NLS_LANG Spanish --> Forms runs with english menu labels, all other labels show spanish translations, only if application was translated to spanish before, or language strings defined by the developer
English and Spanish supplement files installed
    a) NLS_LANG English --> Forms runs with english menu, showing the Forms labels in teh language that the developer created them
    b) NLS_LANG Spanish --> Forms runs with spanish menu labels, all other labels show spanish translations, only if application was translated to spanish before, or language strings defined by the developer
    regards Frank
