I have set up my NLS_LANG to ARABIC_UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.AR8MSWIN1256 in order to display arabic characters on my forms and reports. Prior to this, ive reinstalled my oracle to add the arabic language...

  • Forms and Reports 6i Patch 19

    Hi,
I was going through the readme for 6i patch 19 , I found this instructions
    Installation Instructions:
2.If you are going to apply this patch on top of an iAS install:
    Set ORACLE_HOME to <iAS_HOME>/6iserver
Prepend <iAS_HOME>/6iserver/bin to the beginning of PATH
Prepend <iAS_HOME>/6iserver/lib to the beginning of LD_LIBRARY_PATH
what does Prepend <iAS_HOME>/6iserver/bin to the beginning of PATH means ?
what does Prepend <iAS_HOME>/6iserver/lib to the beginning of LD_LIBRARY_PATH means ?
    Regards

    Hi,
The note 125767.1 says (Step 5) to not follow the ReadMe as it may contain errors but instead the doc. relnotef_p19.pdf. But this doc. also says to set ORACLE_HOME to iAS_HOME/6iserver if we are going to apply the patch on top of iAS. My Pb is that I can find developer bin in both 8.0.6 and iAS homes (6iserver) and with exact same version "6.0.8.21.2". The ORACLE_HOME is set by default to 8.0.6 and I guess that it should remain as you said but wants to have confirmation.
    Thanks,

  • Is forms and reports still supported in the latest 10g AS?

I've installed the latest version of 10g AS the other day, and it looks like there is no support for forms and reports... is that true? I cant find the functionality for the forms and reports server, and when I download the new developer suite it looks like forms and reports are not included anymore... what version of the AS is everyone using for its forms and reports services???
    Thanks in advance.
    Mo

    Which version was that?
10g is just part of a marketing brand. When discussing actual products or components we need to be more specific.
The latest version of AS that I know of that includes the Forms and Reports servers is 10.1.2. Actually 10.1.2.0.2, and that may depend on platform as well. This is a "base version".
Read one of the recent threads, where I posted a bit more info:

  • Forms and Report Service in Oracle Application Server

In Oracle application server release 10.1.3 Forms and Report service is not available. Can anyone please tell whether the support is completely withdrawn or it will be available as different component in future release of Application Server

We release core application server first and then ensure rest of the solutions are certified on the core. In this case, 10.1.3 based servlet container (but with lots of features added on top) would be supported by Forms and Reports Services in Release 11.

  • Deploying Forms and Reports on Linux

We are using Forms and Reports 6i in Client/Server mode in
Windows with all of our clients for years now with
    complete success.
Most of these clients are small to medium size organizations
and don't have the resources or need to upgrate to 9iAS with all
    the costs and complexities involved.
Now there is a demand to run these applications in Linux at
the client side, i.e. they want to put Linux machines at
    the users desktops.
We noticed that there is a Linux version of Forms and Reports
in OTN and would like to try it, but we are concerned about
if the product is really suported by Oracle : There seems to
be no documentation, white papers or patches available.
Can please someone comment on this? Can we develop our forms and
reports in Windows and deploy then with the Linux runtime ?
Deployment with 9iAS is not an option.
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestion

    Hi Goncalo,
There is no reason why this should not work on Linux, and there are patches available for Linux. The latest patch for Linux (patch 11, which is the latest Forms 6i patch) was released Sept 6th, 2002.
This can be found on Metalink (http://metalink.oracle.com).

  • Forms and Reports: Automated Test tools - functionality AND performance

    All,
    I'm looking to get a few leads on an automated test tools that may be used to validate Oracle forms and reports (see my software configuration below). I'm looking for tools that can automate both functional tests and performance. By this I mean;
    Functional Testing:
    * Use of shortcut keys
    * Navigation between fields
    * Screen organisation (filed locations)
    * Exercise forms validation (bad input values)
    * Provide values to forms and simulate user commit, and go and verify database state is as expected
    Performance Testing:
    * carry out tests for fixed user load
    * carry out tests for scaled step increase in user load
    * automated collection of log files and metrics during test
    So far I have:

Thanks in advance for your response.
    Mathew Butler
    Configuration:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux x86-64 architecture v4.5 64 bit
    Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 ( with patch 10.1.2.3 )
Oracle Developer Suite (Oracle Forms and Reports) V10.1.2.0.2 ( with patch 10.1.2.3 )
    Oracle JInitiator 1.3.1.17 or later
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 6

are there any tools for doing this activity like oracle recommended tools?
Your question is unclear.  As IK mentioned, the only tool you need is a new version of Oracle Forms/Reports.  Open your v10 modules in a v11 Builder and select Save.  You now have a v11 module.  Doing a "Compile All PL/SQL" before saving is a good idea, but not required.  The Builders and utilites provided with the version 11 installation are the only supported tools for upgrading your application.  If you are trying to do the conversion of many Forms files in a scripted manner, you can use the Forms compiler in a script.  Generating new "X" files will also update the source modules (fmb, mmb, pll).  See MyOracleSupport Note 955143.1
Also included in the installation in the Forms Migration Assistant.  Although it is more useful to people coming from older versions, it can also be used to move from v10 to 11.  It allows you to select more than one file at a time.  Documentation for this utility can be found in the Forms Upgrade Guide.

How do you switch back and forth from Chinese and english in forms and reports 6i? Tried changing regional settings in the control panel. Tried changing registry entry for nls_lang from american and chinese, none of them work! Can anyone help?
Chinese version of forms and reports 6i is installed. Only way I can change between english and chinese is to keep installing the version I want. Is there any other way?

Where can I get the Forms EAR for OC4J?
We planned to certify Forms6i patch 9 with OC4J. Performance
testing unveilled problems when running the Forms Servlet in
OC4J via the Apache listener. I see. I wanted to run forms on OC4J without apache at all. I was hoping this would become a supported configuration.
Is Reports CGI + OC4J a certified combination?Does OC4J have a CGI environemnt? Anyway, the answer is no.Yes, there are instructions on metalink about how to run the forms and reports CGI applications through OC4J's CGI servlet. However, I don't know how "supported/certified" that is.
For somebody that needs just forms and reports, the full
iAS 9i EE installation is way overkill. I'd rather just
    have iAS9i Core + Forms + Reports.
Forms and Reports are part of 9iAS Enterprise Edition and are
installed in this bundle. There is no other option.Yes, it is true that Oracle forced us to pay for all of Oracle 9iAS Enterprise Edition to use forms and reports on the web. But, that doesn't mean that Forms and Reports won't work without all the other components installed. In fact, I couldn't even get it installed with the default EE install. I had to install iAS Core, then install Forms and Reports 6i, and then patch them all the way up manually because the iAS 1.0.2.2.1 EE install kept dying while trying to install Discoverer (something I didn't even want).
Even using OC4J would have required you to use Apache upfront. We need to have good performance with a small number of users on an intranet. We want webforms mostly for the convenience of avoiding client installations. We don't need any load-balancing at this time (and anyway, we could come up with some poor-mans load balancing if needed it). So, I think we would have been okay with OC4J and no Apache.
    Thanks for the answers,
    Brian

  • Migration MS ACCESS FORMS and Reports to Oracle (Java or Forms or Reports)

    Hello ,
can someone tell me, how i can migrate a whole MS ACCESS 2000 mdb (with forms and Reports) to Oracle.
I think i have first migrate the Access DB with the OMWB to Oracle and in the next Step to convert the VBA Code to JAVA or Forms9i.
BUT Is there a tool available for Migrating VBA code like the OMWB ????

I don't know if this is an obvious question, but do you have MS Access 2k installed on the machine you are trying to run this from? I'm assuming yes.
If you do and there is still a problem, you should log a ticket for support who will take your mdb and help out with the issue for you.
    Many thanks

  • Migrating Oracle forms and reports from 6i to 10g Application server on Uni

    HI Guys,
We are migrating from Oracle forms and reports 6i to 10g.
We will be having application server on Unix box.
I understand following will be the changes i will have to do in this respect -
    1. Fonts are to be revisited only Java fonts are supported.
    2. Obsolete items, function calls, triggers are to be removed.
My question is since this application can be cross platform application,
Can anyone provide me with changes that I will have to do with configuration files like -
    1. Formsweb.cfg,
    2. forms.conf
    3. default.env
    4. registry.dat
Keeping in mind that the application server will be on unix box.
    Thanks,
    Av.

Java fonts are only supported for the Forms version.
You can use your own fonts for Reports however, there is some legwork to do this. I know because I just went through it.
If you will only being using the PDF output (which for me replaced the Preview mode that existed in 6i), then you have to install the TTF for the missing font, an AFM (use the ttf2pt1 utility to generate the AFM file, but make sure you remove the AFM extension when moving it to Unix). You'll want to use the PDF Subset in the uifont.ali (which exists under the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin directory and add the line underneath the PDF Subset "Font Family Name"="TTF Font Name" The font family name is found when you open the AFM file in textpad or wordpad for the font you generated. This is what you enter. The TTF Font Name is the name the TTF font. You'll have to restart Reports Server after this.
If printing to the printer directly is an option you must have, I will tell you it does not work in Linux right now. You can print to the printer but if the font doesn't exist on the internal memory of the printer, it won't work. There are 3rd party utilities like ORARRP and PDFPrint that can take care of this but, each has its own limitations. The one thing I found with ORARRP is if you generate a Report with an RRPA file extension and open it on Windows, it works great, the printer dialog comes up asking you what printer you want to print too. However, if you call this in Linux/Unix with the filename, it brings it up in the web browser but doesn't prompt you for your printer to print too automatically. So, for me, it's a show stopper. My only other option is to install the fonts on the printer that are missing.
As for the files you want to change, you'll obviously have to make changes to the formsweb.cfg, default.env, forms.conf. I have to modify the reports.sh for some PL/SQL attached libraries to make sure it picks them up. I did have to modify Registry.dat.
There is alot of work but mainly forms wasn't too bad, unless you had fonts that weren't supported. Usually there is another font that you can use to replace the old one but you have to know which fonts exists on the server and try all the keys on the keyboard to find the corresponding keystroke.
    Hope this helps.
    Chris

  • Can I use forms and reports 6I runtime for production environment?

    I have a doubt.
I know if i use or install developer (forms and reports 6I) both, runtime and builder, I do require a license.
But If I buy the standard edition license for database (in production or deployment), and I wanna use the runtimes (from forms and reports) only as runtime not to modify or develop anything, is it possible? just to download it or install it in RUNTIME mode?
    Is it possible and legal?
    Thanks

Can I download that developer and install both forms and report runtime (yes only runtime) to access a licensed standard edition database? The problem is, you can't download that version any more! All download links to Forms version earlier that 10g R2 have been removed from Oracle's web site. You might still be able to download Forms 6i from My Oracle Support, but this requires a paid license agreement with Oracle to access My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink).
So, if you already have a copy of Oracle Developer Forms and Reports 6i then all you need to do is contact your local Oracle Sales Representative to get an official answer to your licensing question. If you don't have a copy of Forms 6i, then you are pretty much out of luck unless you know someone who has a copy!
