Language translation from Development class
Hi Experts,
I have a small problem regarding language translation. Here i have to translate all the texts from one language to all other available languages from development class.
Suppose for example all the texts of reports in a development class are in english, i want to copy those texts in to all other languages at a one short. Is it possible? I know we can translate this from se63. but there we can do individually, i want to know is there any way to copy easily all ata atime from a development class?
Let me know the solution please.
Useful answers will be rewardble.
regards

Language translations from Indesign
I have searched but can not find the answer.
What is the best way to give a customer a file to translate into another language? I am using CS2 with an upgrade on the way. The document is 800+- pages and contains over 1200 images, many text frames, and another 40 excel files that are not linked into the document.
I have supplied a PDF to which the customer complained for obvious reasons.Yeesh, I don't even know where to start. If I were asked to manage a translation of your document (I'm not a translator, but a language-industry DTP/production wonk), I would ask for the whole document, with all linked images, Excel files, et cetera. If it's too large to FTP, burn it to disc and next-day it.
I would expect that, in order to understand the source text correctly, that the translation team would need at least some of the images. A translation team that was willing to work on such a project without all of the context is almost certain to be misunderstanding
i something
in your source text.
Translation teams rarely work directly in ID. I usually supply carefully styled RTFs intended for use with translation memory tools, as well as a PDF of the final InDesign file in the source language.
If you have a regular arrangement with a translation supplier, and said supplier already has a project glossary and is extremely familiar with your organization, then the XML route suggested by Trevski above can be pretty safe. If you're working with a supplier for the first time, then it's a safe bet that you don't have a bilingual project glossary. I would be reluctant to advise this method unless you were doing a really thorough in-house linguistic review. -
DEVELOPING A LANGUAGE TRANSLATOR
Hi Everybody,
I want to add a language translator web-page to my site. The page will accept text submitted in ANY language and translate it to any language requested by the user. The service is also supposed to include displaying the translated text in that language's FONT .i.e if the text is translated into Egyptian then it should be VISIBLE in Egyptian, not in English.
I have'nt got the faintest idea how to go about the whole thing. All I can make out is that I would require the local language fonts, a dictionary of the local language- in which the English words have been mapped e.t.c.
Can anybody help me out on this? URLs containing tutorials on how to develop such translators would be warmly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I would be grateful if the tutorials/URLs mostly use Java.

Hopefully this will format correctly so you can read it.

The complexity of such a project is high but if you want to chew bark this is a good place to cut your teeth:
http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/translationserver/infocenter/mt/sampleServletOnDemand.html
If you are still on the tit then follow Andy's suggestion:
"Companies like systran, L&H (their product "web translator") would be good places to look."
I looked at Systran and there free solutions has a lot to be desired (Free is for me). No offense have friends that work for Systran but the whole "marketing thang" is out of control. Lots of banners especially if you use frames. It doesn't like other applets. Killed my text fader when I tried to place their form code in my header. Anyway...
Try:
http://translationwave.com/
Registers for the site and translate whatever you want. As a matter of fact that is how i got here. For the last hour or so I have been trying their online service and it offers more languages than Systran and without banner ads.

Lots of links and references. Got to say IBM has style. How many people buy IBM's cause they are Big Blue? Reminds me of the movie "Crazy People" and the line, "boxy but good". Since Volvo's are round now and days IBM could annex the new slogan.
Sorry needed the comedy relief.
I would be grateful if the tutorials/URLs mostly
use Java. Its all Java...but there are several catchs from what I read. It is necessary to connect your web front end (form) to the servlet[has parameters], then the (IBM) servlet communicates to a Websphere Application Server (WAS don't ask me its an IBM thing. NT was referenced instead of OS/2 as the server OS)blah,blah,blah... uses an active object for translation. Further more once the WAS translates and sends the page back to the browser. The page content is stored in a Lotus Domino Database for speedier delivery on subsequent requests(Cached).
The translationwave.com site uses a .jsp page and two javascript files (.js) and then communicates to a WebTransServlet...Hum, Hum,,, I think this is where I walked in.
"I am looking for a basic servlet I can modify and call my own. There are free multi lingual databases available over the web. and L&H has an engine for little to nothing."
If you were going to do this yourself its going to take a while, just to get all the reference material absorbed and figure a plan of attack: Ie...need hardware or permission to add software to your server, write servlet, do some test and debugging, need a translation engine; thats where L&H comes in, and gotta have those Language A to Language B dictionaries.
May the forest be behind you and not in the trees,

Importing development class into SAP from out site
Hi Guys,

In the doumentaion they asked to import
K900363.DEV
D900363.DEV
R900363.DEV
into SAP from SBI4 with TR
All development classes are located in one single transport request:
DEVK900363.
can any body tell me what is the procedure to do in SAP.
how to import into SAP Development class?
thanks in advance.
rgdasariDear Prasada,
The document what we got with SBI4(integrator for SAP and Smallworld)is giving below. full description giving below.I am a ABAP with BAPI Consultant.I don't have BASIS knowledge.if possible pls send me in detail where we need to which TRCOD we need import those .dev files and how to create ne Dev clall with Given TR requerst..ect..
Importing the Business Integrator source files You import the Business Integrator sources for SAP as transport files. To transport development objects from one SAP system to another, you create a Request. Different kinds of requests exist. Change Requests usually transport
changes from one known system into another in a known Target Transport Layer. This is the usual method in an SAP environment in which you have a development system, a quality system and a production system. For the Business Integrator SAP sources, Transport of Copies is used. All objects from the Business Integrator are included in the development classes ZPLUG, ZPL_DDIC, and ZPLUG_EXT. They are packed in one single transport file. Ask your SAP system administrator to import the files into the SAP environment. When you import copies into different systems, in the development class, the properties TRANSPORTLAYER and HOMESYSTEM do not change. You must change them manually using transaction SE03 (Transport Organiser Tools). Select CHANGE OBJECT CATALOG ENTRIES and select R3TR DEVC xxx (xxx stands for the development class, for example, ZPLUG). Press F8 to change the TransportLayer, the owner, and the home system of the development class. Repeat this for all three
development classes (ZPLUG, ZPL_DDIC and ZPLUG_EXT). -
I am newbee as an Apple developer. I wanna create and sell soft developer books in Turkish language for Turkish developers using iBook application.
Is it possible and legal creating developer books in Turkish or other localized language, just only translating apple developer books which are available in developer.apple.com.
Is there any guideline to make an book for iBookstore, how to gain ISBNs, and how to sell in store?
OzgurOk, got it.
So, have you any knowledge about how can i get Apple's permission to translate and publish their books in localized language? I understand that the Apple wants much more developers contributes their system, therefore they made these publications free of charge. By thinking this way, i suppose that the Apple wants these publications spreads among the world.
I'm so glad for your responses.
Lastly, how can i contact the Apple to get their permission about the subject?
Thanks, a lot.

Creation of developement class, package and access key
COULD ANYBODY EXPLAIN about
creation of developement class, package and access key
and who will create them?Working With Development Objects
Any component of an application program that is stored as a separate unit in the R/3 Repository is called a development object or a Repository Object. In the SAP System, all development objects that logically belong together are assigned to the same development class.
Object Lists
In the Object Navigator, development objects are displayed in object lists, which contain all of the elements in a development class, a program, global class, or function group.
Object lists show not only a hierarchical overview of the development objects in a category, but also tell you how the objects are related to each other. The Object Navigator displays object lists as a tree.
The topmost node of an object list is the development class. From here, you can navigate right down to the lowest hierarchical level of objects. If you select an object from the tree structure that itself describes an object list, the system displays just the new object list.
For example:
Selecting an Object List in the Object Navigator
To select development objects, you use a selection list in the Object Navigator. This contains the following categories:
Category
Meaning
Application hierarchy
A list of all of the development classes in the SAP System. This list is arranged hierarchically by application components, component codes, and the development classes belonging to them
Development class
A list of all of the objects in the development class
Program
A list of all of the components in an ABAP program
Function group
A list of all of the function modules and their components that are defined within a function group
Class
A list of all of the components of a global class. It also lists the superclasses of the class, and all of the inherited and redefined methods of the current class.
Internet service
A list of all of the componentse of an Internet service:
Service description, themes, language resources, HTML templates and MIME objects.
When you choose an Internet service from the tree display, the Web Application Builder is started.
See also Integrating Internet Services.
Local objects
A list of all of the local private objects of a user.
Objects in this list belong to development class $TMP and are not transported. You can display both your own local private objects and those of other users. Local objects are used mostly for testing. If you want to transport a local object, you must assign it to another development class. For further information, refer to Changing Development Classes
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/d1/80194b454211d189710000e8322d00/content.htm
Creating the Main Package
Use
The main package is primarily a container for development objects that belong together, in that they share the same system, transport layer, and customer delivery status. However, you must store development objects in sub-packages, not in the main package itself.
Several main packages can be grouped together to form a structure package.
Prerequisites
You have the authorization for the activity L0 (All Functions) using the S_DEVELOP authorization object.
Procedure
You create each normal package in a similar procedure to the one described below. It can then be included as a sub-package in a main package.
To create a main package:
1. Open the Package Builder initial screen (SE21 or SPACKAGE).
2. In the Package field, enter a name for the package that complies with the tools Naming Conventions
Within SAP itself, the name must begin with a letter from A to S, or from U to X.
3. Choose Create.
The system displays the Create Package dialog box.
4. Enter the following package attributes:
Short Text
Application Component
From the component hierarchy of the SAP system, choose the abbreviation for the application component to which you want to assign the new package.
Software component
Select an entry. The software component describes a set of development objects that can only be delivered in a single unit. You should assign all the sub-packages of the main package to this software component.
Exception: Sub-packages that will not be delivered to customers must be assigned to the HOMEsoftware component.
Main Package
This checkbox appears only if you have the appropriate authorization (see Prerequisites).
To indicate that the package is a main package, check this box.
5. Choose Save.
6. In the dialog box that appears, assign a transport request.
Result
The Change package screen displays the attributes of the new package. To display the object list for the package in the Object Navigator as well, choose from the button bar.
You have created your main package and can now define a structure within it. Generally, you will continue by adding sub-packages to the main package. They themselves will contain the package elements you have assigned.

Changing the development class for 0CALMONTH
Hi we upgraded from BW3.5 to 7.0 and we are getting the same error from the thread : Unable to change development class because field is greyed out
Does anyone know how this problem was resolved.
Regards,
Brian
I am changing the development class for 0CALMONTH and for some reason I am not able to change the $TMP to ZBW because it is greyed out. I also noticed the Orginal system field is SAP and not our BWD name and the Orginal language is DE and not EN.
How would I change the development class for this IO? I am perplexed how this got to this status. When I collected the 0CALMONTH afterwards and listed the IOs belong to 0CALMONTH, I was able to change the development class. Why is this being greyed out?Changing while signed on in DE did not work. - I also tried changing the person reponsible and get the following
Local private objects cannot be repaired
Message no. TR229
Diagnosis
Every user of the SAP System can access and change local private
objects using the ABAP/4 Development Workbench.
System Response
Setting the repair flag is rejected. -
Transport Table with Data from Development to Quality
Hi
Requirement:
Transporting Table with Values from Development to Quality System.
I have a Z* - table, appended one field at the end.
I need to transport data along with the table structure from Development System to Quality System.
In Development System, I have assigned the Transport request in Client 100(We can't add data to the table in this client).
What needs to be done to migrate the new table structure with Values.
Thanks in Advance
Regards,
Baburaj
NOTE: the requirement is to transport table and table entries through a transport request.
There should not be any manual update for the table in the target System (Quality System).Check the delivery class assigned to the table. Please see the documentation
Delivery class
The delivery class controls the transport of table data when installing
or upgrading, in a client copy and when transporting between customer
systems. The delivery class is also used in the extended table
maintenance.
There are the following delivery classes:
o A: Application table (master and transaction data).
o C: Customer table, data is maintained by the customer only.
o L: Table for storing temporary data.
o G: Customer table, SAP may insert new data records, but may not
overwrite or delete existing data records. The customer namespace
must be defined in table TRESC. (Use Report RDDKOR54 here).
o E: System table with its own namespaces for customer entries. The
customer namespace must be defined in table TRESC. (Use Report
RDDKOR54 here.)
S: System table, data changes have the same status as program
changes.
W: System table (e.g. table of the development environment) whose
data is transported with its own transport objects (e.g. R3TR PROG,
R3TR TABL, etc.).
or during client copy
the data of client-specific tables is copied.
Classes C, G, E, S: The data records of the table are copied to the
target client.
Classes W, L: The data records of the table are not copied to the
target client.
Class A: Data records are only copied to the target client if
explicitly requested (parameter option). Normally it does not make
sense to transport such data, but is supported to permit you to copy
an entire client environment.
or during installation, upgrade and language import
behavior differs here for client-specific and cross-client tables.
nt-specific tables
Classes A and C: Data is only imported into client 000. Existing
data records are overwritten.
Classes E, S and W: Data is imported into all clients. Existing data
records are overwritten.
Class G: Existing data records are overwritten in client 000. In all
other clients, new data records are inserted, but existing data
records are not overwritten.
Class L: No data is imported.
Cross-client tables
o Classes A, L and C: No data is imported.
o Classes E, S, and W: Data is imported. Exisitng data records with
the same key are overwritten.
o Classe G: Data records that do not exist are inserted, but existing
data records are not overwritten.
ehavior during transport between customer systems
Data records of tables of delivery class L are not imported into the
target system. Data records of tables of delivery classes A, C, E, G, S
and W are imported into the target system (this is done for the target
client specified in the transport for client-specific tables).
se of the delivery class in the extended table maintenance
The delivery class is also analyzed in the extended table maintenance
(SM30). The maintenance interface generated for a table makes the
following checks:
o You cannot transport the entered data with the transport link of the
generated maintenance interface for tables of delivery classes W and
L.
o When you enter data, there is a check if this data violates the
namespace defined for the table in table TRESC. If the data violates
the namespace, the input is rejected.

Translation of message class used in validation
Hi all,
we are having troubles with the translation of the message class(es) used in validation. In our system environment, we have 2 development clients. One has logon language german, the other italian. Both clients are allowed to maintain their own customizing and with this add new messages to the message class used for validation, if necessary. Now, what happens is this: Whenever a message is added, the original language of the message class is switched to the logon language of the current user. This is nasty because after changing the original language we have to confirm the translation of every message in the message class. How do you organize translation of the message class used in validation?
Thanks for your ideas, kind regards, Kathrin.Hello Kathrin,
Don't change the Original Langague. Maintain the new messages in the Original Langauge of the Message class and translate to the desired langague.

How to create Development Class in SAP R/3 4.7c and Netweaver?
I follow some old notes on ABAP Development Class but I could not create a new Development Class. i.e. Stuck in creatinf a type group. Please give some details on how to create a development class. Thanks.
see the following stepa:
(A) Procedure for creating a type group:
/nse80
1. Object Navigator> select Development class>(Enter your development class
yFTGxxDEV
2. Double click on development class object types.
3. Type Group: zPTAxx1.
4. Click on the Create button at the bottom (4th one from the left).
5. Enter short text: zPTAxx1 type group.
6. Save>Enter your development class> click on diskette button to save the type group
7. Select Source Code tab and enter the following:
"An example type-pool statement containing types and constants
type-pool zxx1. "zxx1 is a type pool. It is also known as a type group
types: zxx1_dollars(16) type p decimals 2,
zxx1_lira(16) type p decimals 0.
constants:
zxx1_warning_threshold type i value 5000,
zxx1_amalgamation_date like sy-datum value '19970305'.
8. Select Type Group from menubar
a) Check
b) Save
c) Activate
9. Click the back button or F3 to exit.
10, Show your type group to your teacher.
11. Go to ABAP editor and enter the following program:
"Calculations on date
report zxx_0914.
type-pools zxx1. "contains zxx1_amalgamation_date
data: d1 like sy-datum,
d2 like d1,
num_days type p.
d1 = d2 = sy-datum.
subtract 1 from d1.
write / d1. "yesterday's date
d2+06 = '01' " first day of current months
subtract 1 from d2.
write / d2. " last day of previous month
num_days = sy-datum - zxx1_amalgamation_date.
write / num_days. " number of days since amalgamation
11. Double click zxx1 from the type-pool statement to see the type group.
12. Follow lab1 procedure and run your program
(B) Run an ABAP program using field symbol ( i.e. pointer)
report zxx_lab6.
data f1(3) value 'ABC'. "Step 1 Define a variable
field-symbols <f>. "Step 2 Define a pointer variable ( it only stores address)
assign f1 to <f>. "Step3 Initialize the pointer variable with an address
write <f>. "Step4 Now you can use <f> in place of f1
write / f1. " (same as write f1 )
<f> = 'xyz'. " Assign a new value to f1
write <f>.
write / f1.This is not the way to create a new development class.
Follow this steps to create a development class:
