Languages and keyboards

I recently installed an English version of CS6 indesign. I live in a German speaking country, however, and my keyboard is German.  How can I set myself up to work in English but still be able to use the German keyboard shortcuts??

THANK YOU!! I am still an indesign baby. It is different because some symbols and letters are rearranged, for example zoom in wasn't working because on the German keyboard, there is a + instead of =. And that was making me crazy. Thank you!

  • [SOLVED] After a crash, my languages and keyboard layouts are gone!

So my CPU hanged, I rebooted, unfortunatelly a lot of my personal (and perhaps system) files were corrupted. All my personal GNOME settings were set to default. I had to wipe out the entire ~/.config/dconf folder in order to regain the capability to customize everything again. So all was left behind was my keyboard layout. So I went to `Regions and Languages` and... all but the system language (English) options were gone, including the layouts!
I just reinstalled the groups gnome and gnome-extra, no to avail
    What can I do?
edit: stupid me! The layouts were 'hidden' in the tiny window size of the thing!

  • Foreign Language and Keyboarding

    Hi All
The iPhone's system is the Mac OS X. I currently have my laptop setup with four foreign langauge input -with their respective characters- thus I can type in English, Spanish, Cherokee and Thai. Same input, fortunately. throughout my system i.e. TextEdit, Pages, Mail, Address Book, et al.
Has anyone the same experience using the iPhone? Keyboard Viewer available with respective characters?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

iPhone input and user interface is English only so far. See these notes:

how it's possible and how to remove it ?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
First, we need to follow these steps to change the display language:
How to Change Your Display Language in Windows 8 and 8.1
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/5853-display-language-change-windows-8-a.html
To remove the preinstalled language, we need to change following registry keys:
Note: make a backup of your registry key for avoiding unexpected error after we change the registry key.
    [HLM\SYSTEM\currentcontrolset\control\nis\language]
Change the value data of 0409 as fr which means french language.
Then remove the English language package.
Restart the system to check the results.
    Hope these could be helpful.

  • Printing, Display, ICA and keyboard issuers

    Hello
I'm facing several issues with a new SGD 4 installation on a SuSe
    Enterprise Server 9.
    - Printing : some jobs get "stuck" and are not printed. If I try to print
another document, tarantella tells me it's ready to print (while it's not
actually). To have my documents printed, I have to log off and log on
again, and printing of the docs start automatically. It happens with any
of our printers. Printing configuration is the default one.
    - Display : When connecting to a Windows desktop, display sometimes become
"distored", some parts of the scrren are not where there are supposed to
be and they are "leaned". I made some modifications in the Adaptive
Internet Protocol but with no success.
    - Another problems occurs with Windows Desktop : I can't get the right
"Alt" key correctly. For instance, with a french keyboard layout, to type
"\", we must type the right "Alt" key (AltGr) and the number "8" (just
above the letters "U" and "I"). To get this working we have to type both
the left AND right "Alt" keys at the same time. Language and keyboard
layout is set up correcly within Windows.
    - I can't connect to a Windows desktop using the ICA protocol. I get this
    error :
    ErrTransportNotAvailable
    bind(7,*:1022): (13) Permission denied
Citrix is of course installed on the windows server.
    Thanks a lot

I have found a workaround in this bug report.
    Make a script in /usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/keyboard.sh
    #!/bin/sh
    case $1/$2 in
    post/*)
    echo -n rescan > /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/drvctl
    esac
Do not forget to make it executable:
    chmod a+x /usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/keyboard.sh

  • How to fix the mouse and keyboard freezing when installing Windows 7 on 27' iMac late 2013?

Hi, I have a question for u guys who can solve this.
I recently bought the new 27' iMac late 2013, and I installed some softwares and used it for few days.
Before I bought this I used the 15' Macbook Pro Retina, I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and I used the Windows for gaming.
    So back to my question.
So I bought the new iMac and I was tying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (with the same CD).
After dividing the partition, and other stuff, the iMac rebooted and I hold down the option (alt) key. I choose the Windows CD, and it said it is "getting ready to install Windows". I let it load, and the blue screen where you choose the language, time/location and keyboard input popped up. At the bottom right corner (at the same page), there is a button that said "Next (N)" which u need to click it to go to the next step. I was moving my mouse to click the button, but I realized that my mouse and keyboard was frozen. I tried both wireless and wired mouse and keyboard but they didn't work. There was nothing I could do. I hold the power button, (that was the only option) and tried my mouse and keyboard on Mac OS and it worked fine.
I thought something went wrong in the CD so I bought the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The result was same. It frizzed again. (I just wast few hundred $)
Latter my friend lend me his Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. I tried it, and it worked, it didn't freezed on Windows 8.
The problem is I played Battlefield 4, Titan fall, and Watch Dogs, and Battlefield 4 multiplayer doesn't work on Windows 8.1. Even though when it works on Windows 8, I prefer using Windows 7.
Dose anyone knows how to fix this freezing thing?
    My computer is:
27' iMac late 2013 (bought it just few days ago)
I did no upgrades when I bought it, except the graphic card.
I bought the iMac in Korean Apple Store, and my Windows CD is in Korean, can that be a problem?
Please leave a comment when u think u can solve my problem.

    See -> http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf.
In addition to the Windows disc (or USB flash drive with the Windows installer) you'll need a 8GB+ flash drive.
The referenced manual - on page 3, I think, gives you a run-down of what you'll need before you begin the installation. You may also want to post any further Boot Camp questions in the Boot Camp forum -> https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp.

  • Use different language and Spell check

Hello, just got an iPad to supplement my two Android phones, and like it so far...
Except for one thing that drives me nuts...
The spell check. I live in Scandinavia, but like to use English as my interface language. This causes major problems, when I write something in Danish.
Is there any way to have English as the interface language, but use another language for spell checking?
Also, is there a way to use two different languages in spellcheck? Its really annoying to have English words pop up as suggestions when I write something in a different language and vice versa...

From a user perspective this is wrong UX and lacks total support for multi-national companies, especially when the (national) keyboard layout differs from the (foreign) keyboard layout that is being forced to use if one wants the spell check to be performed in the foreign languge.
Let's take the following example.  My language settings are set to English because I want my interface in English. The used keyboard layout is Flemish (=Dutch) (AZERTY).  When writing emails the spell check is performed in Dutch since iOS uses the keyboard related language.  This is fine as long as I write emails to people in Belgium which do read and speak Dutch.  However when I want to write English emails (and hence would like English spell check) I am forced to switch my keyboard to English (UK).  This is not really OK as switching the keyboard messes up the layout I am used to work with (English -> QWERTY).
Essentially, the selected keyboard (and keyboard layout for that matter) shouldn't have any impact on the used language for the spelling check.  To be honest I can't remember of any application/OS used so far that applies this logic.
I really do hope that this gets fixed in some way (e.g. by adding the option to select the spelling check language) in a future update of iOS.

During the installation, the Mighty Mouse and the keyboard were not working (except the first W7 screens, selecting partition and language), and now, installation finished, i got to use an external keyboard to select username and password, because Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard are not working with Windows.
I restart the computer using OSX and both are working fine.
    Could you please help me?
