Lanyard iPod

I have two lanyard iPods that charge OK using my eMac but seem to have a problem when using a charger.
I have two chargers: Camelion USB Power Adapter for iPOd and a cheap universal charger.
When the iPod is put on charge should there be any indicator to show that it is charging?
When I put the iPod on charge should I switch it on in some way - if so How.
On the square Shuffle it seems that there is a lightr (Red) that indicates that it is charging but nothing on my iPods show. At the momment both chargers are on for ever without any noticable finished charging.
As I'm off to Greece for a holiday I want to be able to charge them using my charger/s.

I and the rest of my family have nanos with lanyards and have no complaints except one, I wish Apple had made the headphone cord a little longer!
I am 42 and becoming myopic, so I have my lanyard extended out almost to its limit. This draws the headphones closer to the center of the back of my neck, this in turn tugs the headphone cord backward out of my ears so that I find that the earbuds want to work their way out of my ears. The rest of my family hasn't complained so it may just be me.
Sound quality: no difference from standard Apple buds (its just the creeping out of my ears that bothers me)
Nano security: great, no sign of the nano slipping out of the lanyard. In fact, it sometimes takes a good grip to pull the lanyard off of the nano when its time to sync or charge.

  • New iPod Nano need new cradle and lanyard

Am I the only one that thinks Apple could make the new Nano use the old cradle and lanyard? I have bought six iPods and it seems like Apple rips you off by making you buy new everything each time. I love the product but come on, you don't make enough money so you have to change the hook up's by less than 1/4" of an inch so we have to spend an extra $200 to $300 dollars. I have hook up's at home, office and cars and I have to replace everyone. I wonder if that ZUNE will do the same thing.

Make sure you have deleted all remnants for iTunes and Quicktime. Also, be sure to delete everything in your C:\Temp file and download iTunes and Quicktime separately then install them.

  • Lanyard headphones: why did apple discontinue them for ipod nano?

i'd love to purchase the new generation of ipod nano (i need more HD space on my 2nd gen ipod nano), but i have a basic need for the lanyard style headphones. i can't bring myself to wear the old style headphones (i have many bad memories of dropping the lanyard-less ipods).
i have never had a problem with the lanyard design in the 4+ years that i've used them. why did apple stop production?
and, more importantly, does apple have any plans to bring back lanyard headphones in the future?
    thank you.

Since we are all end users like you, nobody here would have the answers to such questions.  Only apple knows.  Either way, I suggest you leave feedback to Apple through one of their feedback channels.

  • IPod Nano 7 clip, lanyard, watch strap?

After a having a number of iPod Nano, i was really surprised that the new iPod Nano 7 has what appears to be no way to clip it to clothing, a belt, bag, or best of all the lanyard from the iPad Nano 2 (unsure of version). It seems most people I know that love the Nano use it why doing physical things, and many of them dont want the weitght of size of an additional case with a clip/etc. Am I alone in the need for an attachment device of some sort or are people willing to purchase a case?
We may just have to visit the refurb store and stock up on the Nano 6 just to clp the thing while working around the house...

Does it play properly in iTunes?
If it DOES play properly in iTunes, you may want to try creating a version that is optimzed for iPod.  Select the video in iTunes.  From the menu bar
File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
NOTE:  This function is disabled, if the video is a purchase from the iTunes Store, such as a movie, TV show, or music video (which use DRM).
This new version appears in your iTunes Movies library.  Remove the original version from the iPod, and sync this version.  It should play properly in the iPod.

  • Apple iPod NANO Lanyard

I would really like to buy the Apple iPod Nano Lanyard, it would be perfect for me. However after reading the reviews from the Apple store, I am afraid that my Nano will fall off and break or get lost after a short period of use. I can't afford to keep buying Nano's. Does anyone know if Apple has taken this problem to heart and fixed the problem, making it more secure? I can't believe that they would continue to sell a product that could cause you to loose such an expensive investment? If there has been a fix, does anyone know of a date to "buy after"?
    Thank you so much, Cinta

I have the lanyard and while I don't subject it to extreme pressure I have run around with it quite a bit with no ill effects. I am disappointed though that there is no mechanical release though. There are other options available that would have a separate lanyard earphones options. I love it and had to pick it up after having a shuffle but personally it's great.

  • IPod Nano Lanyard Headphones - good?

    Hi all!
I am interested in purchasing a pair of the new lanyard headphones, just wondering if anyone has already got them and what they think of them? How secure is the nano hanging there? I'd be afraid of it detaching from the lanyard port and falling to the ground as I'm moving around.
    any input?
    thanks so much!

I wear my lanyard headphones underneath a dress shirt while at work! My orginal intention was to use it at the gym, no wires to get caught on weights, ect. However, I've decieded to keep using the arm band while at the gym b/c of sweat and stink!
So, the lanyard get's put on each morning and I have head phones comming out of my collar.
They aren't the best sounding headphones ever and like most apple products are very expensive but they are useful.

  • IPod nano Lanyard Headphones

If you have the Lanyard headphones pluged in, can you plug in the ear buds from the top of the nano and still get sound? This is my way of avoiding buying a splitter. Will it work?
    thanks.

on all nanos, the headphone hole is on the bottom. the only thing on the top of the nano is the hold switch.
unless i misunderstood your question, no, it won't work.

  • IPod nano Lanyard Headphones 2nd gen problem

I have been using it for about 3 months. The left ear one's volume suddenly decreases to about half of the right one's volume while I was listening for an hour. How long can this headphones last? Does it have any form of warranty? And is there any way to fix this?

  • What is a good nano case with a lanyard?

I received a 4G iPod nano for Christmas, I love it. I also want to protect it, so I want a case/protective cover. However I want one with a lanyard or some sort of clip that I can attach to a neck strap. I would very much appreciate recommendations. What do you like or dislike? Thanks in advance.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I spent a lot of time checking reviews in iLounge and other places, and found it hard to choose. Unable to decide, I happened to be in Wal-Mart yesterday and came across the Belkin flip case. The price was good(< $20), the color nice, and it seems to offer a lot of protection. I worry most about dropping my nano. While the Belkin case is bulkier than I wish, it has a belt holder to which I was able to attach a cord to use as a lanyard rather like the difusi valet case, which looked really nice. iSkin duo was tempting, but I could not figure out from the pictures on the internet if I could somehow attach a cord. At any rate, I am going to use this case for a while, until or unless I see something that is exactly what I am looking for.
Thanks to all again for all of the information and suggestions.

  • IPod Nano Service

I have an iPod Nano, 2GB, less than 2 months old. The problem is that if I plug in lanyard headphones, or earbuds, start a song, then touch the case below the scroll wheel, the song stops. I can restart the song playing and touch the case near the bottom of the iPod and the song stops again. Even moving the iPod can cause the song to stop. If the lanyard or earbuds are removed and the song is started, touching the case has no effect. I sent the iPod in for service, Apple kept is less than a day and sent it back. The closest "required" item on their symptom dropdown menu was scroll wheel issues. I included a detailed account of the problem I was having, but it is apparent that the unit was unpacked, the scroll wheel found to be working, and it was shipped back, still malfunctioning. I have called Apple and was directed to make an appointment with a retail store to actually have a person look at the unit. It is immediately clear that this is a defective unit, as any song can be stopped just by touching the case if lanyard headphones or earbuds are connected. All the recommended troubleshooting measures have been performed to no avail. Any recommendations on how to get this iPod serviced? I'm very disappointed in Apples lack of support. I don't expect any better with extended care or Procare and it has made me think twice about purchasing a new laptop from them. We have two other iPod Nanos in the family and they work well! Any help will be welcome.

    Hi Rob,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
You might want to look at iPod - Service FAQ. You can also bring it to your local Apple Store.

  • Ok i have a 3g iphone and in my car i have a pioneer avic-3 audio-dvd-gps-cd-ipod,etc it word fine until today...i tried to connect to my voce mail and will not route the voice mail audio thru my pioneer and speakers...

i have a 3g iphone & a pioneer avic-d3 car reciever...the bluetooth unit pairs with the phone anwsers and dials, auto connects, no problem...until today it won't connect with my voicemail as it stays connected...i have the latest up grade on the iphone and its only 2 weeks old and it worked fine for the time i had it...its a used phone!

I tried that method too and shile it will work, one false move and you can slice too deep. The option that worked for me was to buy the original iPod shuffle lanyard case. it comes with a short (3 inches) headphone extension cable where the male end fits in the iphone jack. it was $4 on ebay.

  • Using iPod nano in cold wheather

I go for a run everyday with my iPod nano. It is covered with a nano tube and invisible shield to protect it and to cover up the 2 scratches I made. So I am very pleased with it. But now that winter is coming up, that means another harsh Canadian winter. Temperatures are usually around -15 C (5 F) in the morning. I use the iPod nano lanyard headphones, and I figured if I placed it in my jacket, it would help it heat up a bit. I know it says the the iPod nanos work best at 0 C (32 F) and higher, but I'm wondering how cold they can actually work. And is it bad for the iPod nano making it suffer in the cold?

Due to the chemical make up of batteries, playing an iPod in a very cold environment decreases battery life. Unlike a hot environment, this is a temporary condition. Once molecules in the battery warm up, the battery will return to its previous capacity.
iPod Temperate Zone. Your iPod works best from 32° to 95°F. You should store it in environments of -4° to 113°. That’s 0° to 35°C and -20° to 45° for the metrically inclined. Keeping your iPod as near room temperature as possible (22°C) is ideal.

  • Manual + Lanyard + Plasticy thing questions

    Hiya,
I've just got a nice shiny new black nano but I have a few questions:
    - Where can I download the manual from? The link in the quick start guide (apple.com/support/manuals/ipod) isn't working for me. Or is it not ready yet?
    - Does anyone have any suggestions about a Lanyard to use with the new nano? I
don't think armbands are going to work for me (and it seems a little weird with something playing videos to have it on your arm!)
    - There's a strange white plastic thing that came in the box with the ipod. I opened the whole thing somewhat in a hurry so I didn't notice if it was a bit of packaging - it's rectangular with a sort of pushed out bit a little larger than the nano with a hole in the base about the same size as the dock connector. Does anyone know what it's for, if anything?
    Thank you for your help.

The little white thing is a dock adapter. If you buy a universal dock from Apple or any accessory that uses the universal dock, you'd put that little piece in the dock so that it would be the right size for your particular iPod.
Good luck on the rest of the questions. I'm looking for an armband as I don't think I'll be watching videos while I'm running.

  • IPods and Skins -- Talk about it.

The key to success with a perfect, unscratched ipod is to follow some simple steps, all gathered together in one so new users can take action immediately.
    1. GET A COVER (SKIN/TUBE) FOR YOUR NANO!
    2. Dont take it out of the plastic when you purchase it UNLESS you already have a skin to put RIGHT on it.
    3. Even if tempted to, DO NOT RUB YOUR NANO TO YOUR SHIRT OR ANY OTHER MATERIALS. THEY ARE DELICATE. -- Treat with care DUH
I am deciding over the zCovers, or the Apple Tubes...
the set of apple tubes come with 5 colors for 29.99
    - white, blue, purple, lime green, bubble gum pink
    the zCovers are 24.95 EACH
    - green, grey, red, black, blue, pink, white, purple, "ice clear"
Lets hear some oppinions about the Tubes and zCovers. Help people decide about which one to get.
The zCovers have a crystal clear hard screen protector, and i am not sure of the Apple Tubes have those.. i have a doubt they dont, thus called TUBES.
    Lets talk about it.
You choose and tell... zCover or Apple Tube set?
    Tom

    Thomas,
I actually bought a single nano tube on eBay. I also bought a podsplus and Z-cover. Out of all of these the Apple nano tube is the best for me.
1- Podsplus- Great silicone skin .Good quality. Scroll wheel is thinned out to make navigation easy. A pretty good skin. No option for lanyard.
2- Z-Cover. Thicker than all the others. Scroll wheel not thinned out so naviagtion is difficult but many other folks like this one. Comes with 2 cases. Lanyard and non-lanyard.
3- Apple nano tube - For me the best one. No option for lanyard (except Apples lanyard headphones of course). Very thin. Scroll wheel area thinned out very nicely. Cleaner then the others. Colors brighter than in the pictures on the apple web. The blue on the web looks like a powder blue. In real life it is a darker blue.
Don't forget to protect the screen. I suggest the power computing Crystal film.
Good luck. Many will have their opinions. Just have to wade through the advice and take the plunge.
    Regards
    Yosam
